To yourself, you'll have a cozy room furnished with a comfortable and adjustable Ikea bed that pulls out from a twin to become a double. Your room also has a small refrigerator/freezer. yay! Clean sheets, blankets, pillows, and shampoo/conditioner are provided, as well as fresh towels and some closet space. (There are no additional charges for these items.) (Note: When set-up as a double, the bed will take up most of the space in the room, though you may push it back into a twin for more space during the day.) We provide you with your own set of house keys, including for your private room. We don't impose a curfew so you're welcome to come and go as you like -- make yourself at home! There is one bathroom in the unit with a sink, toilet, and shower/tub to be used by all. Our apartment is one block away from the 2 and 5 express subway lines, which can take you to Downtown Manhattan (Battery Park, Wall St, etc) in 20-25 minutes, to Mid-town Manhattan in 30-40 min, and to many of Brooklyn's best sites in just 10-15 minutes. (Note: directions will be provided by AirBnb on the itinerary you are sent following booking.)

Our apt is 2k. When you arrive, buzz 2k from the lobby! Once inside the apartment, please take off your shoes and leave them by the front door. Whenever you leave our home or return, please lock the front door behind you. Our home is strictly non-smoking. Please do not take any showers between 645am and 745am as we need to get in and out of the bathroom to get kids off to school. If you are using the AC in your room, just make sure and turn it off when leaving for the day. (Unless you'll only be gone a short while. It's just too expensive to cool an empty room!) Also, please turn off lights in your room if you are leaving for a significant amount of time. If you would like to use the washer and dryer, please talk to me first. Our washer uses concentrated soap and the dryer filter needs to be changed before each load. Let me show you the basics (soap, filter, etc.) It'll be quick and easy. ;) (Here's a suggestion, Not a rule ;) If you arrive into JFK or LGA, take a cab not an Uber. U

Jun 27, 2019This was our second time staying with Karen and her family. As was our previous experience, Karen was a great host, the room was clean and set up for us. Karen is super helpful, always offering great advice and her place is very close to the subway. We returned specifically because of our great experience last time and we would definitely do it again!

Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed our stay at Karen and Joshua's. They had lots of tips and advices about what to do and see. Placed closed to the subway and Prospect Park, made it a perfect location for us. The family was talkative, but respectfully to the need of privacy.

The house was clean, neat and close to the subway. We were happy we could stay with this lovely family. When we go back to New York we would definitely stay here again! Thank you Karen and Joshua.

Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua were fantastic hosts! I staid a short three nights. They were flexible, kind, respectful and reliable. No problem for checking in, even if I was delayed because of the bus. No rush for the check out. The room and the bed were comfortable, clean, quite perfect for what I was looking for. And for sure, having groceries, a train station and restaurants near their place was great. Nothing to complain, I appreciated my stay.

Despite being not that close to Manhattan, and being quite small for 2 people, it was perfect for our stay. Having WiFi also made our stay very easy.

Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua could not have been more gracious hosts. As advertised, they offered a private and very cozy room and gave full access to their kitchen and facilities. They were friendly and seemed always ready to be of help if I needed it. Moreover, they had it worked out almost to the last detail: when I arrived they already had neat packages, clearly labelled, of take-out menus for area restaurants, they had directions to local shops and businesses - all of which were in walking distance, and they had clear directions to the nearby subways, and there was a list of house rules - none of which were unacceptable. Overall, it was like spending a weekend at a friend's place. The neighborhood was quite busy with people and shops until late into the night, but the room was quiet, clean and comfortable. I slept like a baby. I would only suggest that you confirm your check in and check out times with them in advance so as to avoid any confusion. I would stay here again if I needed to take another trip to NYC in the future - for sure.
Jun 27, 2019Me and my friend had a very pleasant stay with Karen and Joshua and their two lovely children. It was very special to mingle with this beautiful American family and household. The bed we slept in was more than comfortable and we experienced a lot of space in sharing the kitchen and bathroom. Highly recommended! Great neighborhood too!
Jun 27, 2019My Mom and I had a stop over in NY and stayed at Karen's for one night and it was very nice. I already stayed at Karens place last year and so it was my first choice. The room is clean and the bed is very comfortable. The neighborhood has some nice places to eat and the subway is just around the corner. Karen and Joshua are super nice and Belle and Crockett are really adorable. We enjoyed our short stay and I would definitely stay there again.

Everything was the way they had depicted it in the description. No bad surprises. The room and the apartment were clean and cosy. If I should come back to NY, I would try to stay with them again.
Jun 27, 2019Karen had a very quick reaction time when we needed a place to stay last-minute. The room, while small for two people, is inexpensive for the New York area. We were up and about every day we were there though, so it was not a problem. If you are not planning on staying indoors for too long, we would definitely recommend this place! When we first exited the subway, we found the neighborhood to be somewhat intimidating, though it was later at night. Nothing happened to us, even though we came home late every night. Could be that we just needed to get used to it a little at first. Karen and Josh were great hosts, talking to us at length on the subject of New York and other destinations. Very friendly people.

The bedroom was tiny but nice and clean and the apartment very close to the subway and grocery / drugstore / etc. Karen and her husband are kind, respectful and helpful. I would definitely go back and recommend staying with them! Je suis restée 3 nuits et j'ai beaucoup apprécié mon séjour. La chambre était petite mais propre et charmante et l'appartement vraiment près du métro et des services. Karen et son maris sont gentils, respectueux et très serviables. J'y retournerais et recommanderais de rester avec eux!

Jun 27, 2019Our stay at Karen´s place was totally with no problems. She was very helpfull, the room was clean and the whole family is friendly. Have no negative feedback, it is also good reachable with the subway. We also come to Newark and left from JFK airport and went to two NHL games in NJ and Nassau, all with no need of cab, everything can be done with cheap and quick transport ;)
Jun 27, 2019The apartment is exactly the way the owners described it: cozy. We definitely enjoyed our stay. Karen and Joshua made us feel welcome and were more than helpful in providing us tips on how to get around the city. The best thing is that the subway is only a block away. Keep in mind that the room is only for sleeping. It is not exactly to hang around and watch TV as one does in hotels. It is simply a room with a bed, a nightstand, and a closet. If you are planning to be all day and night out, then this apartment is perfect.
Jun 27, 2019Notre séjour chez karen c est très bien déroulé, les hôtes sont agréable, et l appartement est très bien. La chambre reste petite mais utilisable. L appartement est bien entretenue. Cependant le quartier reste incertain et l accès a Manhattan est assez long.
Jun 27, 2019I had to leave early as it was not a good fit nor very comfortable for me: --child's playroom and kitchen eating area is directly outside your room --the loud noise, often adults yelling to each other, begins at 6:30 AM --child's size bed meant that my feet hung off of the mattress, I'm 5'4" --prison style pillow--the worst I've ever used and I've been south of the border...I used my towel for support--the towel provided was clean! --Unless you like Dunkin Donuts coffee--you'll need to take a train or bus at least 1/2 hour to find a 'coffee shop' --neighborhood is busy but mostly meat shops, fast food and really bad takeout--truly bad for NY standards --a food desert for any vegetarian/healthy eater. I did see one 'natural food store' --a hold in the wall that was barely open --they offer 'kitchen access' but they have the most full refrigerator ever, so I'm not sure where you'd put your stuff --I did not mind being the only white person on the bus, street and subway stop, but some people might feel uncomfortable and it is hard to not notice and be conscious about -the best part about this place is that it is only 2 blocks to the subway it felt safe and I had my pepper spray as I'm city smart

Jun 27, 2019Great hosts, lovely family, price can't be beat, one block from subway. Downside: neighborhood. To get where you want to be, where there's any food, drink, shopping, etc., you'll need to ride two stops+ towards Manhattan, but a small price to pay.
Jun 27, 2019Karen and her husband were great hosts. Kind and welcoming. Their kids are cute as can be (if you don't like kids, this isn't the place for you). The apartment was small, but when you come to NY you are spending time in the city, not the apartment. There was a subway station right across the street so I was easy to get around. It's in Flatbush, which if you are new to the city might not be the best neighborhood for beginners as it isn't close to many attractions (although Park Slope and Fort Greene are close), but the apartment and neighborhood were both clean and safe. Also, very reasonable price for the city.

However, inconvenience could be typical of the place of stay: - Lounge is kept as family room (playground with barriers is amid the area). - The sleeping room is tight, you could not entirely open up your luggage inside. - Wake up at 6:30am by yelling little boy each morning NYC is still gorgeous ! Jun 27, 2019This was the third time I've stayed with Karen and her family. The location is super close to the subway and lots of nice markets and stores in and around Nostrand Street. I was working on research interviews for my PhD dissertation so it was nice to come home to a quiet family atmosphere. Karen, her husband, and the kids were all so welcoming as usual and it was nice to see them again. The room was clean and well kept as usual and was perfect for my needs. It's also a great deal given the cost of living in NYC.
Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua where both excellent host, even though my time was short and very sudden my time as a guest was well fulfill. The room was well lit and clean with everything that I possibly can need. First up a pamphlet of rules of the house that had everything that I needed to know about being a guests in there house, in case they were nowhere to be found. Soap,towel and blankets in case things got a little chilly and the shelf full of books of all kinds some very familia others not so much. Overall I had a pleasant time and I wouldn't mind doing it again.

The kids are just adorable and did not bother us at all. Apartment is very close to subway that takes you to prime locations of Manhattan in no time. The neighborhood also had some cute spots, like a juice shop and a cute old-fashioned café/donut shop. We definitely recommend staying with them!

Flexible check in, check out times, flexible times to come and leave the room etc. Moreover, the room is located at a very convenient place in Brooklyn. Although I was new to the New York Subways, I didn't have any problem coming to the place every night. I would highly recommend the place to everybody and would love to stay there when I'm back in New York!
Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua were such welcoming, great hosts. Their kids are just adorable. My friend and I loved staying with them for the weekend. The check-in times are flexible and you can leave/come back at any time. This made our lives so much easier. The place is cute and clean and about 45 mins away from Times Square, but there is a subway station literally 2 mins away. We would definitely stay with them if we go to NYC again.

Jun 27, 2019I stayed at the lovely Family home of Karen and Joshua in brooklyn. The room was cozy and with The kitchen just outside of the room i had all The things i would need at hand. I had The freedom of coming in and leaving The appartment whenever i wanted and when i had questions about NY and it's highlights they where always exited to give me an awnser wich was really nice. Their two kids are adorabele and pretty quiet so it was not a problem at all that they where up early in the morning. I can recommand this BnB to everyone who wants to stay in NY for a while. Jun 27, 2019Everything was exactly as advertised. Room was efficiently compact but comfortable and a great deal. Karen was very friendly, easy going, and accommodating. Close proximity to subway station was great. Once we parked the car we did not need it until we checked out. We were able to explore the whole city on public transportation. Great place to hang your hat and crash after a long day out and about.
Jun 27, 2019Eu e meu marido ficamos hospedados durante 15 dias. De modo geral a nossa experiência foi tranquila e agradável. A Karen e o Joshua foram bastante receptivos e atenciosos conosco, sempre nos perguntavam se estávamos bem, se precisávamos de alguma coisa, se estávamos curtindo a cidade e etc. Eles dão total liberdade para entrada e saída do apartamento em qualquer horário e nos entregaram as chaves logo que chegamos. Sempre saíamos pela manhã e chegávamos de madrugada, circulávamos pelo corredor e utilizávamos o banheiro e nunca tivemos nenhum problema, mesmo porque tomávamos cuidado. O quarto é pequeno, a cama é muito boa, tínhamos travesseiros, cobertas e espaço no armário. A diferença entre as fotos que vemos no anúncio e o apartamento de modo geral é grande, pois existem muito mais móveis e objetos em vários lugares, mas o quarto é exatamente igual, quentinho e aconchegante. As crianças são lindas e comunicativas. Muito fofas! O bairro é muito legal também, tem mercadinhos, lojinhas de conveniências, farmácia e para os que arriscam, algumas opções para comer. Fica ao lado do metrô (2 and 5 trains), e quando eu digo ao lado, são apenas 3 minutos caminhando do apartamento e 30 minutos de Manhattan (Durante o dia. De madrugada é um pouco mais). The bedroom is the same of the pictures, has a great light and the space is confortable, as the bed! The neighborhood is cool, and good to know the real new yorker living style, that I love. I definetely recommend Karen's room to other Airbnb user.

Jun 27, 2019This was my second experience with airbnb. I missed to meet Karen and her family but I got chance to see her cat. Having the keys of her apartment was a big responsibility in absence of her. The room was clean and big enough for one person to sleep at night. Being wooden floor, I had to be careful for noise. I'm thankful that Karen managed her friend at her apartment when I arrived at 3:00am. The location and surrounding environment was quiet, I loved her apartment, she has a lot of books. Thanks Karen for having me as a guest. Tourists like me have lots of queries. In general from my last two weeks of experience with four airbnb hosts, I felt that the presence of the host at least at the moment of check-in and check-out will significantly improve the experience.

Jul 27, 2019Karen nous à très bien accueillis et l'appartement est tres bien situé pour aller à Manhattan, le metro est à coté. La chambre est correct pour juste passer les nuits afin de récupérer du long périple dans les rues de new york. Toutefois l'appartement manque de propreté et de rangement, et le quartier n'est pas le plus sécure, cependant nous n'avons pas eu de probleme! Ideal pour petit budget ;o)

Jun 27, 2019Super indico pra quem quer conhecer NYC e gastar bem pouquinho. O quarto é pequeno porém bem limpinho e tem tudo o que você precisa - ventilador, ar condicionado, uma boa cama e espaço no armário para colocar a mala (se não for muito grande). Karen foi super prestativa com dicas e informações sobre NYC, além de ter nos deixado bem à vontade para usar as dependências da casa - cozinha, sala, banheiro... O apartamento fica realmente bem perto, uns 3 min a pé no máximo, da Church Ave Station. Lá, você pega a linha 2 e em menos de 1 hora está nos principais lugares de NYC, por exemplo: Times Square - 40 min, Wall Street - 25 min, Central Park - 50 min. É um pouco longe, porém vale muito a pena pra quem quer conhecer NYC e gastar pouco!

Karen was really friendly and helpful, She gave me information such as; good restaurant, broadway tickets, subway information etc.. Karen's is a nice host who helps you with any question. I highly reccomend karen's apartment!
Jun 27, 2019Words can not express how thoroughly enjoyable my stay with Karen and Joshua was! They are the epitome of class. From their accommodating me at such last minute, to guiding me to the apartment (after I got lost at 11pm at night), down to the incredibly comfortable room. They made my stay enjoyable. Everything was laid out for me; keys, a/c, towels and linens, etc. They even left several Starbursts in the room once they saw that I had a sweet tooth :) Those two are very down to Earth, and their children are adorable! I'd recommend EVERYONE to stay there.

Jun 27, 2019Quartier pas sécurisant à première vue. Evitez de vous y aventurer tard le soir. Appartement très propre. Karen, Joshua et leurs enfants sont cool mais on s' attendait à ce qu'il y ait plus d'échanges et qu'ils fassent un peu plus attention à nous, en nous proposant un café le matin par exemple, nous dire bonne nuit le soir (premier soir, une fois que Karen est arrivée, Joshua est parti dans sa chambre à 18h, et n'est plus resorti). Etant français, nous n'avons pas l'habitude de ce genre de comportement.

Karen was very accomodative and waited for me when my flight was delayed 3 hours and I had to have a late check in at around midnight.They were available and also kept checking with me to be sure that all was okay. My 20 month old really enjoyed playing with the kids. The room was as described. I loved the neighborhood because of the proximity to public transportation, supermarkets, shops and nice approachable people willing to give directions whenever asked.
Jun 27, 2019I had a great stay at Karen and Josh's place! The location was easy to travel to and from Manhattan/other areas of Brooklyn, and had places to eat nearby. It was a home away from home and their children are so cute! Being a female travelling by myself it was comforting to be in a family environment. They were happy to help with anything I needed (directions, etc) and I was given the space and freedom to do my own thing! Thankyou both for having me!

Karen et Joshua sont très sympathiques, ils ont toujours été disponibles pour nous et de bons conseils. Le trajet en métro jusqu’à Manhattan est assez long, mais direct. L’arrêt de métro est à côté de l’appartement. We had a pleasant stay with Karen, Joshua and their cute children. The room is clean and very quiet. Karen and Joshua are very friendly, they were always available for us and good advice. The subway ride to Manhattan is quite long, but direct. The metro stop is next to the apartment.

The listing description is really informative and detailed directions gave me no troubles arriving to the right place. Both Karen and Joshua were very welcoming and I felt as part of the family. I could use all the facilities and the room was comfy and spacious enough. The place is in easy reach of Brooklyn downtown and a reasonable Subway distance from Manhattan. I had spend a wonderful weekend in New York and I knew I had a safe place to comeback for the night. Would definitely come back again.

It's really ideally located, close to the subway, and was really easy to get to from Penn Station. The room, while small, features a very comfy bed. Karen was very easy to communicate with about the details of our arrival, and her neighbor was nice enough to check us in since Karen was out of town. Definitely recommended!
Jun 27, 2019I had a great experience staying at Karen's place - the subway station is just less than 3 mins away and there are several grocery stores nearby. By taking the 2 line you can get to Wall Street in about 30 mins. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable - in short I had a good time staying at the apartment.

Karen was very fast with here Airbnb responses. This was my first Airbnb experience and they made it a positive experience. I would definitely recommend this nice apartment as a getaway!
Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua were excellent hosts. They were extremely friendly and welcoming. They had a lot of knowledge about the city so were helpful when we needed help with directions. They have one adorable daughter and son as well as a friendly kitty. It was extremely convenient that the subway stop was a block away from their house, as it was easy and safe to walk home late at night. Great hospitality and would definitely recommend!

Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua are really nice people, and their two kids are adorable. They received us warmly, gave us lots of advice and told us interesting stories about themselves. Also, they tried to keep it as quiet as possible in the mornings, which is surely a challenge with two energetic little kids. Their apartment is really close to the subway (about a 2min-walk), which will easily take you to other parts of Brookly and Manhattan. There are two things that you should be aware of, however: the neighborhood seemed a little rough to us, so that you should be careful at night. Since the walk from the subway to the flat is so short, it only bothered us the first night, when we were a little surprised at the number of policemen and shady people on the streets. Also, as it truthfully says in the description, the room is very small and a little problematic for two people with big luggage. It is not a place where you would want to hang out very much; which should not be a great issue either, if you know it in advance and plan to be out and about all day anyways. The whole apartment is rather small (it looks more spacious on the pictures), so that you have to feel comfortable with "intruding" on the family's much used living room, since the guest room is right next to it.

Jun 27, 2019I had a wonderful three-night stay with Joshua and Karen. The room was very comfortable, and I thought it was plenty of space for one person with a few bags. The rest of the apartment is nice and comfy as well, and I appreciated that I was made to feel welcome to use the common areas when I was around. The apartment has only one bathroom but I never felt like there were any conflicts with getting time in the shower or anything. Location is fantastic--there's a subway station literally just round the corner and I found it very quick and easy to get into Manhattan every day. I honestly never felt all that uncomfortable with the neighborhood, as other reviews mentioned, but I guess that kind of thing is relative. On top of all this, it really has to be said that this is just the nicest family. Karen and Joshua are so friendly and also really interesting people. I tend to be a little shy of strangers and sometimes find it stressful staying in a room in the home of a family I don't know, but Karen and Joshua never made me feel like I was intruding, and I had some really enjoyable conversations with them. Their two kids are also super cute and very precocious. I would absolutely recommend staying here, and would happily stay here again myself on any future visit to the area.
Jun 27, 2019We had a great stay with Karen in the Flatbush neighborhood in Brooklyn. It is a very multicultural part of the city with an emphasis on Caribbean cultures. The room was clean and comfortable. Karen and Joshua were friendly and their kids were cute. Good communication, would stay with them again.
Jun 27, 2019My experience staying with Karen and Joshua was great. I found the room to be comfortable and quiet. Even with their young children, the entire family worked towards keeping the noise down if I was still asleep. The home is delightful, warm and friendly. I felt welcome and able have privacy when I needed it. This listing is an oasis to come back to after a long day/night in the big city. It is easily accessible by subway, I felt safe in the neighbourhood, it took about 35/40 minutes to reach SOHO on average and although there were occasionally long waits when travelling back late at night, there were never any problems. I recommend this listing as your next place to stay in Brooklyn.
Jun 27, 2019It was lovely to stay with this beautiful family! Everything is as discribed: I stayed alone and it was never a problem to come home late as the subway is running throughout the night. It is no problem to walk from the subway station to the appartment even at night as it is only one short block. The room is big and there´s enough space for two people. I also had the possiblity to use bath, kitchen and living room. Both and the lovely kids were around quite often and always happy to answer questions and give recommendations, especially for jazz (thank you so much, that was a great night!), broadway-shows and good places to eat! Thank you very much for everything!

Even though my parents don't speak English , Karen and Joshua have helped them out with printing their boarding pass for the flight back and helped them stay in touch with me by using their PC and email account. From what my parents told me, we can highly recommend to spend some nights and days at Karen and Joshua's
Jun 27, 2019I had a lovely time staying in Karen's apartment. I went over Thanksgiving weekend and they opened up their home to me. Although they were not there, Karen made sure I arrived okay and provided me with instructions about the kitchen, bathroom, trash/recycling, etc. She also had take-out menus in the room and also responded quickly to any questions I had. The room was exactly what I needed and located very close to the subway. All in all I had a great stay and hope to stay there again in the future.

Only one train ride to manhattan the place is perfect for couples looking at traveling and touring manhattan but want to stay away from the busy city! The location is perfect and the room is cosy and comfy! This is the place to stay if you are in New York! Karen was exceptionally sweet with hosting us well though she was a little unwell. She and Joshua made sure we are comfortable and settled in. They were also very accommodating as we were a little last minute with the booking but we managed to Check in smoothly and were appreciative about it! Overall a great place with a lovely family!

Jun 27, 2019It was my very first Airbnb experience and I could not imagine this to be better!!! Karen and Joshua and their super cute kids made me feel very welcome! The room is small but it was warm (which was crucial due to really cold March in NYC). With the 5 you are in 30 minutes at Grand Central and with 2 in some 40 at Times Square. Really good connection (except at nights and weekends when 5 is not running). I would totally recommend staying with this super nice family!!

Jun 27, 2019I stayed at Karen and Joshua's place for ten nights while in town for business. The room and apartment were exactly as described in the listing, with a positive surprise being the bed and blanket/duvet which were pretty much the best I've seen during my Airbnb stays (for me at least, your mileage may vary). The room is also one of the quietest I've stayed at in NYC with very little noise from the street and neighbors during the night, which was nice. The neighborhood is pretty good with all the basic services (convenience stores, bodegas, fast food, pharmacy etc) and the subway station nearby. Also, the 2 and 5 trains weren't too crowded even in rush hour. All in all, Karen and Joshua (and the kids) were wonderful hosts and I'll definitely be staying at their place in the future as well!

Jun 27, 2019it was a wonderful stay! I stayed in their place for 5 nights. Karen and Joshua are very, very nice hosts. They provided everything I need and they even invited me for dinner during my last night. I enjoyed every conversation we had! The kids and their cat were very cute. Although the subway station is rather away from downtown, the listing is just a block away from the station. There are lots of groceries stores and food on the way back to the place. I'd definitely love to stay here again next time I'm in New York!

Jun 27, 2019The room is clean and cosy. It is fine for one person but two would be a bit of a squeeze. The room opens to the family's living room and you will get a lot of free entertainment - the host sings and plays his guitar while his two adorable kids dance crazily- so it is value for money right there! It felt a bit intrusive on the hosts' family life being there, though the hosts are very friendly and helpful people. The flat is really near a subway station (with an elevator if you have luggage) and the neighbourhood disconcerted me at first as it looked a bit unsafe (host advised that the main streets are safe enough). I can't tell how safe it is at night as I never used the subway at night while I was there.

The house is well connected to the subway and you've got grocerie stores just right next to it. The room is a bit small for two people, but the bed was comfortable and the bath clean. Convenient for a budget crash pad in Brooklyn. The train does take about 40mins- 1 hour to get to parts of Manhattan from their subway stop (just one block away), so if you are looking to spend less time on the subway and more on the sights, this might not be the place.

The neighborhood was ok, cornerstores nearby and subway to Manhattan within very short walking distance. Would recommend to anyone traveling on a budget and focusing on the sights, shopping & culture of NYC and not the nightlife :)
Jun 27, 2019What a great place to stay! I only met Karen on my first day because she went on vocation by herself. But she was super nice and helped me with everything. And thank you for all your great advices! The appartment is perfectly when you travel alone. You will find everything there. The grocery store is around 1 min away and also the metro is around the corner. You need a little time to get into the city. But it is definitely okay. It was great to stay there!

The room was comfortable enough for myself, and I even got to use a mini frige all by myself as well! Their lovely cat, JJ was so friendly that I did not feel lonely haha. Thank you so much guys!!
Jun 27, 2019I've only get to meet up with Karen, Joshua and Crockett for about 2 - 3 days in the week that I was staying. However, they left clear instructions and were contactable via mobile. The room is sufficient enough for 1 person and the place is very near the subway. Getting to downtown takes around 35 mins and there are food and groceries nearby too. It's really a convenient place to stay.

Due to her commitment, Karen was not around when we arrived but she has prepared everything (direction, keys, bedsheet, guide) we would need to ensure a smooth checkin. And a smooth one it was. The place is just a 3' walk away from Church Av. , which has a direct Subway line to key areas in Manhattan. It is well kept, clean, tidy and quiet, perfect as a rest place to return to everyday.

Nice to have airco, although it made a lot of noise (we used earplugs). A lot of shops around the corner. Very close to subway that brings you to Manhattan in 20-30 minutes. Recommended!

The area looks not a safe place but except that everything was good. Room was little bit small to put two people s luggage but it was fine :) Kitchen, shower room, air conditioner were very convenient and the subway takes 35 min to timesquare without transfer !

Everything was already prepared (bed sheets, towels, WiFi password, ...) when we arrived and Karen was always reachable for questions. The subway is just 200m away which is very convenient to get to Manhatten. It's an ideal place for a short stay in New York and I can definitely recommend it.

Jun 27, 2019This was a good a good inexpensive option if you're willing to travel to get to the things you want to see. It's a very diverse community, with a large Afro Caribbean community. It did take me a while to get home late at night after shows when trains are running less frequently so it made for some late nights. They do have kids and a cat, so if you're not doing sharing your space with either creature, not a good fit for you. They were very nice and responsive and the bed was comfy. It was in the 90s when I was there and I didn't even have to run my window unit AC if I kept the blinds pulled during the day. The fan was fine.

Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua were great hosts! The communication beforehand and also during my stay was just excellent! Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Karen in person as she was out of town during my stay but Joshua looked after my wellbeing, making sure I was fine, recommending restaurants and giving all the useful tips you might need when staying in New York! Their kids were just adorable and "JJ" the cat got loads of extra cuddles from me :-) Karen and Joshua's home is exactly as described: 40-45mins by Subway into Manhattan (Midtown: Times Square, Theatre District ...), their place being actually located right in the 'heart of Brooklyn' gave me sort of a suburban feeling with its own vibes and even tranquillity as I barely heard any street noise at all ... waking up to birds singing in the trees and someone playing a piano lovingly in the distance is quite unusual in a City like New York, so that was a real treat during my stay!!! The bed was extremely comfortable, I overslept not only once during my eight-day-stay with them and having the luxury of 'my very own little fridge' in my room was definitely another Highlight!!! Travelling to and from Manhattan by Subway is really easy and I always felt safe ... even late at night or at 4am in the morning hours walking home all by myself, no need to feel unsafe at all! The Subway Station is located right around the corner (3min walk from Karen and Joshua's home!) and has also elevators which comes in handy when you're carrying heavy luggage! All in all I've had a fantastic stay at their place and can highly recommend it to anyone who likes to enjoy living on the other side of the Hudson :-)
Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed our stay very much: lovely hosts! Joshua and Karen gave us a feeling of home, with happy kids. They gave us good advice to explore NY culturally. Further: the shower was good! The area 'Brooklyn Flatbush' was awesome: close to subway station, the carribean atmosphere and the nice people in the hood! We just needed a little bit more space for our luggage, and a more comfortable mattress too.

Apartment is well organized and bathroom was always accessible. Hosts are wonderful and very accommodating. Apartment is a block away from the 2 and 5 train station. I also enjoyed walking to the prospect park and walking around the park all the way to Grand Army plaza and Brooklyn Museum. Overall I liked my stay.
Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua are excellent hosts! They are very friendly and welcoming. They had excellent recommendations of local gems and spots to see. They're home is warm and full of life! When we arrived, we were immediately welcomed by the friendly Greenberg family. They are respectful of space and privacy, and their children were very well behaved! Our room was very comfortable. We had an adjustable bed that would be transformed into a twin size if we needed more space. We were provided with a large closet and drawers to unpack in. We also had a mini fridge, which was great for leftovers so that we could save money for meals. The location of the BNB was very close to the subway station which made it very easy to get around. We were also just a few steps away from city buses that could take you all over to different neighborhoods of Brooklyn! For cyclists, the Citi Bike Rentals are more concentrated in downtown Brooklyn which is a short subway ride away. Brooklyn has great cycling lanes that make you feel safe travelling on two wheels. The neighborhood is culturally rich with a wide variety of sights, sounds and smells! If you love Caribbean food, you will have plenty of options to choose from! This BNB was an excellent opportunity to observe REAL life in New York.

And they are right by little shops like Walgreens and subway for a fast place to eat or a late night snack run. Une "cohabitation" facilitée par des règles qui font simplement appel au bon sens. Point positif également, le métro est très proche (5min à pied pas plus), et accessibilité à deux lignes de métro.

Location was great. 2,5 MTA station is 1 block away (2 min walk) and amazing Caribbean food nearby. A short 8 minute walk to SUNY Downstate University Hospital. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Jun 27, 2019This is a nice, loving home located a corner from the subway (2,3) and this subway has an elevator. Karen and Joshua offer great conversation and a clean abode. The subway near their place has an elevator and the condo building does not - but no worries it's just one flight of stairs. The neighborhood is awesome and various food options. the refrigerator in the bedroom is a nice touch. Thanks for being great host. Very safe in and out of their area and quaint coffee shops and eateries within 100 - 200 feet.

Si vous voulez voir un show à Broadway, demandez à Karen, elle saura vous aider et peut-être même vous donner des réductions. Chambre et appartement très bien, situé à deux minutes du métro. Comptez 40min pour aller à Time Square. Je recommande cette chambre si vous avez un petit budget.

During the visit, both were respectful of my privacy, made me feel like I was at home and were quite social. They even offered some good points of interest for coffee, food and pizza. Jun 27, 2019We had a rough start to our stay at Karen and Josh's. We arrived at their house at 10:30pm after a full day of traveling (it was at that point 4:30am where we woke up). When we arrived we buzzed and called both Karen and Josh and banged on the door, but it ended up being an hour before we heard back from them and were let in. Karen was at work which we knew, but it turns out Josh was inside sleeping and didn't hear our repetitive knocks or his phone going off. After we finally got settled everything was fine. Karen seems nice, didn't interact with Josh as much. The apartment is just a block from the 2 and 5 trains which go right into Manhattan in 20-30 minutes. Not a great neighborhood but we didn't plan on spending time there anyway. The apartment had everything we needed. The feature of the bed pulling out to a queen is nice and convenient, though there's not much more space in the room when it is out. There was a bit of just cosmetic mold in the shower. For the price the stay was worth it. And I would hope that our arrival was just a mishap, but after such a long day and much communication, the additional delay was hard to get past.

Jun 27, 2019I can totally recommend staying at Karen's and Joshua's place. Unfortunately, I never got to met them personally, but Karen was always there to help me on the phone. Even when I wanted to stay a night longer than actually planned, she made everything possible. Big thanks again to Karen! The cleaning guy as well as the supervisor, who is living next door, are also very nice people and there to help if you need something. However, from city guides to bath items, everything is already provided. The place is just a one minute walk away from the subway which takes you to Manhattan in around 30 minutes. Moreover, I totally felt save in the area and like at home at Karen's place. Definitely worth a stay!
Jun 27, 2019It was our first step in Brooklyn ! Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Karen in person, but she was always there to help us or answer my questions by email. By the way, we fell in love with "JJ" the cat, the perfect roommate ! This apartment is located very closed from the subway station. The flat is comfortable and there is a fridge in the room! We stayed there for 2 nights and everything was already prepared (sheets, towels, WiFi password). Thanks for hosting us !

Also, there house is so lovely and basicly you can get everything you need. It is quite close to the subway, which makes it easier to travel around. Karen also recommend some places that you can have meals. Overall, this is a highly recommended place to live when you would like to travel in NYC!
Jun 27, 2019The apartment was cozy and nice. I was a bit disappointed I never saw the family as I was looking forward to a bit of community during my stay but they were in Jersey. Despite that, the super let me in and was very kind and helpful, the cat was charming and I felt lucky the other boarded was very nice. (at first I was nervous about staying in a house with a person I hadn't reviewed but I was lucky he was very kind). I was unknowledgeable about NYC geography and had a hard time finding that my commute to my conference in east village was about 50 minutes long and the place was about a 45 minute cab ride from Times Square. If you are staying here just know to expect that. The apartment is only a short walk to the subway entrance which is very convenient and also good as sometimes it felt a bit sketchy in the neighborhood later at night. Karen was a good communicator and was good at answering any questions promptly.

Jun 27, 2019Without any previous hosting feedback on my profile, Karen accepted me with no hesitations, gave me directions and suggestions before I arrive (first time in NY), many recommendations for places around the area. The room is very good, comes with a small fridge, clean bed covers and towels were prepared for me. Regarding communication, Karen is #1, she never leaves a question or message with no reply. The place is very easy to be reached by train, it was my first time in NY, and with the instructions from Karen, I was able to arrive there with no problems. Highly recommended listing! Jun 27, 2019The place was great, in a mostly Jamaican/WestIndies neighborhood with places to eat and a Walgreens really close by. It also had a metro just 3-4 min walking, this metro did NOT run on weekends and that was a down because we had to travel in bus everywhere. The family was not home for the weekend but their apartment was pretty and clean. Karen was quick to respond to any questions I had over my stay. They have a beautiful cat named JJ and that really made my stay feel like I was at home.

Karen also filled us in with what we can do around the neighborhood and what not. Also, the subway is literally just 5 minutes of walk so getting around is not an issue. There's really nothing I could complain about, definitely a nice place to be if you're looking for a place to stay in Brooklyn.

The apartment is super close to the subway that takes you straight to Manhattan and to other Brooklyn neighborhoods. Karen provided me with information on Broadway shows, where to get tickets, which shows are good....thanks to this info I was able to get tickets for a great show! She waited up for me so that I could get the keys to their place and my room! The kids were adorable and very polite. Room was clean, bed was comfy, floor could use a little cleaning, but that's it. Jun 27, 2019Karen's home was great. Sadly I didn't get to meet her and family during my short stay, but I was always extremely welcomed! Karen's awesome friend Rachel (and I truly mean awesome) did everything to keep the place perfect and help me with anything I needed! Communicating with them is very smooth. The place is very cozy, clean and quiet. I definitely recommend it if you would like to explore Brooklyn for it's dynamic life. It is located very close to a subway station and bus stop, with many pharmacies stores and shops around (try the local Nostrand Donut Shop for breakfast and donuts!). Their cat JJ is adorable and unlike most other cats, tends to keep to himself (so if you're not used to cats, I still recommend this place). PS. He loves cuddle time on the couch :) Thank you Karen, family, and especially Rachel for having me! Happy holidays!!

The room was exactly as described, cosy and bed was massive for two people (although taken up the majority of space in the room). Their cat is very well-behaved and adorable! Travel to Manhattan was straightforward and takes about 40 minutes.

Jun 27, 2019I stayed here for two nights. Had a wonderful time. Couldn't get to met the actual hosts but there was a very nice lady who coordinated so well. It is separate apartment just for Airbnb guests. You don't get to meet host often so I enjoyed my privacy. If there are no other Airbnb guests, you can enjoy the whole place with a fancy kitchen and washroom. Just to keep you company there will be a cat always in the living room. The only issue I had was the parking. You will find a spot 4 blocks away after spending an hour during busy hours. I'll recommend not to keep a car but that is the problem with all of the Brooklyn. My favorite thing was the area around. You can access each and every thing within a 5 mins walk.

Though I did not meet her in person, there is another host which help to organise the check in and out and was nice to allow me to keep my luggage in the living till 6pm as I have a late night flight. Jun 27, 2019Unfortunately I didn't meet Karen and her family because they were on vacation too, but Jess hosted me and she is really nice. She provided me with towels and I could ask her everything. The apartment is well located for sightseeing and all around are some shops. You can reach for example the upper West side in one hour with the subway. And it's only 30 minutes away from JFK with the taxi. I enjoyed my stay would definitely choose this room again.

A infraestrutura do apartamento é boa, pra uma pessoa o quarto estava ok, possui ar condicionado, armário e uma mini geladeira. Os dois (Karen e Joshua) são bem comunicativos. O local é realmente bem perto do metro, uma quadra. Para chegar em Manhattan, dependendo do lugar de 35 a 50 minutos. Foi uma boa experiência, eu recomendaria :).

The area is lively but I felt safe even late at night , the subway was a dream to use and very cheap and great to get to Manhattan etc. Can’t think of a negative, I even learned how to use their Kurig so plenty of tea if you want it,although you couldn’t starve with all the places for breakfast etc

Jun 27, 2019These hosts have hundreds of stellar reviews for a reason! Karen and Joshua were incredible hosts during our impromptu trip to the city for a snowy Christmas weekend. They have a natural inclination for hospitality and want to make sure you are completely comfortable, not only in their home but in the city as well. We had the opportunity to stay in their cozier listing and while it was small, my husband, myself, and our 1 year old daughter were quite content. Karen even brought out a few board books and toddler toys for her to play with, so so sweet! We WILL be returning for future visits and only hope that they have a room available.

Jun 27, 2019Very close to a major station on the 2 and 5 line. These two lines in NYC are the most reliable lines that go all the way up the Manhattan Island. One of which will get you to the east side and the other will get you to the west side. Quite affordable for its perfect location. I would highly recommend this place to people who would like to visit NYC.

Space is close to all kinds of public transportation (bus, subway, etc.), considering we would be spending most of the time outside enjoying the city. Hosts were caring and helpful and their suggestions about various landmarks in the city helped me a lot throughout my stay. I would definitely recommend this place to the future guests!

Jun 27, 2019ﾁｪｯｸｲﾝ前に荷物を預かってもらうにあたり､親切に対応してもらって本当に助かりました｡ 小学生くらいのお子さん達がいたのですが､特に気になることはありませんでした｡最後の夜に一緒に折り紙で遊んでとても楽しかったです｡ 部屋はｼﾝﾌﾟﾙですが冷蔵庫もありとても過ごしやすかったです｡ 家は地下鉄から1ﾌﾞﾛｯｸしか離れておらず治安で気になることもなかったです｡ 全体的にお勧めの物件です! To have my luggage kept before check-in, I was really saved by being kindly responded. There were children around elementary school students, but I was not particularly concerned. It was a lot of fun to play with origami together the last night. Room was simple, but there was refrigerator, too and was very easy to spend. The house was only one block away from the subway and there was nothing to worry about in security.Overall it is a recommended property!

Jun 27, 2019My stay at Karen and Joshua‘s was great. They are warm-hearted, welcoming people and super easy to communicate with. They even invited me to a private holiday celebration which was so kind and a super cool experience. The two kids are lovely and very friendly and fun. The location is very close to the subway which makes it easy to get to Manhattan. Sometimes it can be a bit annoying because of track maintenance etc. but that’s something you accept by deciding to stay outside of Manhattan. I didn’t particularly like the neighborhood and didn’t feel very comfortable coming home late as a girl by myself. But that’s just a feeling, nothing ever happened and there were always other people in the street. I want to thank Karen and Joshua again for the nice time I enjoyed at their home.

Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua are great host and the place is about 30 min from Manhattan.. it has easy access to Subway and the price is reasonable... Add to that their knowledge about the places and it is a stealer

Jun 27, 2019Please avoid this rude family. They will be kind just in front of you. They pretend to like you sufficiently. But truly they don't like you. They want you just to take a sleep and showers in their house. Don't believe the notice paper which they gave you. Sometimes they will have discussion about garbage which you threw into trash box. They will hate you to cook in their kitchen. They should not respect cultural diffrence. They will disgust with you into their mind. Please avoid this weird family if you will be traveller in long times or not. It's never cozy and private place to you. They will bother you who stays in their home. For avoiding this family, I got out here in this winter with my heavy luggages...I think that they just want a money without love to other people. Thank you for karen, joshua for all you've done in your house. I experienced weird and isolated in room and the worst remembrance in NYC. Thanks!

Jun 27, 2019Karen and Josh were amazing hosts! They were very warm and friendly and quick to give suggestions on what to see and do in Brooklyn, Manhattan and surrounding areas. They were so kind and easy going but also gave you your own space - I felt like I was part of the family! I highly recommend staying with them :)
Jun 27, 2019What a great month I spent in the apartment of Karen and Joshua ! They are really helpful, nice and respectful. You are completly independant and you can share, if you want, a movie, a dinner or a glass of wine with them. It was a pleasure to meet this family ! I recommand this flat!
Jun 27, 2019Karen and Joshua have mastered the art of Airbnb hosting. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed into their home and family. Everything was exactly as expected with great amenities - the washer and dryer are especially helpful for longer stays. The room is a little small, but since this is New York, that's to be expected (and hopefully you aren't spending too much time in your room anyway). It should be mentioned you'll be living with Karen and Joshua's family; if you are someone who just wants a quiet place where you don't have to talk to anyone else, this might not be the home for you. If however, you enjoy interacting with others and having interesting conversations then this is the place for you. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and I give Karen and Joshua's place a hearty recommendation!
