If you leave door or window or food open, it tends to attract ants, coaches and mice inside the house. We have monthly professional pesticides control but it is impossible to guarantee 100% bug free.

Jun 27, 2019When we arrived at Tom's house, he was busy. But in the evening, his wife and little boy came to the house to show and explain about the house equipment. She was very kindly! The house was clean. Kitchen was well equiped and spacious. We enjoyed fishing at the lake behind of the house. We really enjoyed holidays. Thanks Tom!
Jun 27, 2019When I first booked this place it was advertised as an entire house with three bedrooms, a large kitchen, a nice dining room, washer, dryer, back yard and hot tub. When I got there, I was surprised to see that the owner had split the house into two rentals – an upstairs unit and a downstairs unit – and had relegated to only the upstairs unit: two bedrooms, a mini kitchen (small modified entry hallway), with NO large kitchen, no dining room whatsoever, no washer, dryer, back yard or hot tub. The half of the house that we had access to was very nice. Light wood floors with plenty of closet storage, two bathrooms, and a mini kitchen. There were two TVs (one had Netflix only while the other had a few stations). There are four beds – the two bedroom beds were nice and comfy whereas the two living area “beds” (couch/beds) were like slightly cushioned wood planks. My daughter tried sleeping there the first night and said never again. The air conditioner worked very well. And the view from the unit was spectacular. The house is right on the lake (Enchanted Lake) and sunrises were beautiful. The house is in Kailua, a sleepy little town on the east side of Oahu. The Kailua beach is only minutes away and is one of the nicest beaches on Oahu. There was no boogie board and no beach towels provided by the owner but Target was only a few minutes away. Sound was an issue. Because of the way the house was divided, we could hear every word our “neighbors” were saying. In our case, the neighbors were super loud and didn’t sleep until 2-3 am every night. The owner said we could use the washer and dryer in the garage but that we’d have to literally enter the other renter’s unit and walk through their dining room (what should have been our dining room) to get to the garage. We didn’t feel comfortable with that so we didn’t. There was no hot tub on the property. Despite getting only half the house, we made the most of our Hawaii adventure and had a wonderful time.
Jun 27, 2019This is a great locations for adults looking for a party location in beautiful Kailua. Not ideal for families. Kailua is the ideal location for families! Kailua Beach is the most beautiful beach on the island with white soft sand and light waves. I loved the town and the location of the bond was close to town, Bellows AFB beaches, the Sandy Beach breathtaking coastline and Hanauma Bay. The house was very clean and neat. The decor was relaxing and the kitchen was well stocked. However this home is NOT ideal for families. There is not a dining area (table) for meals, there is not a backyard(as it is for the lower unit), and there is not direct access to laundry (which is coin operated). Tom was very pleasant and responsive via text or Airbnb messaging. Regretfully, he never met with us during our 13 day visit. He was not there to greet us are our arrival or departure. That made things difficult because we were very surprised to learn that the washer and dryer was not in our unit. We had to enter the kitchen of the downstairs unit to access the garage to do laundry. Unfortunately, the washer water emptied in the utility sink which overflowed on the floor due to a malfunction in the plumbing. This happen on day 3 and never was fixed during our 13 day stay. We were forced to use a local laundry mat.This was very inconvenient because we selected this home for this amenity as we were a family of 8 on a 13-day vacation. We didn't have a linen set for s second couch pullout. I requested it the first night and never received it. We made due by stealing pieces from other beds. The advertising for the home is misleading. It causes one to believe that the backyard is for this unit, there is a dining area, and that laundry is an amenity for this unit. Rather, the backyard is for the lower unit whose front door is the entryway to the backyard. The lower unit is set up as a bachelor pad and is rented by large groups of adults looking for a good time in Hawaii. The lanai is set up with 3 indoor couches, numerous misfit dining chairs, 2 lounge chairs, and a patio set for 4. This set up is not as the picture shows which is a low key back lanai with one patio set. There was lots of drinking and loud partying into late hours of the evening. This was not ideal for my family which included young children and an infant. I would like to not that Tom was very responsive at our complaint for loud noise past 11pm but this did not eliminate the loud partying on future nights. Lastly, Tom did not inform us that there would be roof work being done to install solar panels beginning at (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) for 4 days. No sleeping in those days on our vacation! I...
Jun 27, 2019We loved this beautiful home. It was immaculate, bright, cheerful and in a peaceful, friendly and welcoming neighborhood. I felt very safe there. The host, Tom, was very helpful. He brought us fresh towels when we needed them and he was very friendly. He got back to me right away when I had questions. It was a wonderful experience and we would gladly stay at this property again, and also would highly recommend it to others.
Jun 27, 2019The description of the home is exactly what you see, there are two options for the home the upstairs or downstairs. We really enjoyed the home we stayed in the upstairs unit with a beautiful view. The location is prime its in the middle of the island really cant go wrong. There is a lake in the backyard where we finished and crabbed, however we would not advise eating since the water is not tested for bacteria, you can (Hidden by Airbnb) and read for yourself. The fun is catch and realse :) The area is very safe and I had the chance to speak with the residents near b,y very friendly and informative about the area. We never used the laundry but it is easily accessible for both units you no longer have to go through the other home, it has its own enclosure. Bring your own beach towels as they are not provided but not a big deal since target is 5 minute drive! There are many restaurants near by and shopping centers so its a huge bonus. There's a Costco about 20 minutes away its worth the drive, not only do you save money but the view is beautiful ! The host Tom was very nice and accommodating. Our family had a wonderful and memorable time in Hawaii we recommend staying here with your family, its a great place for your kids as well.
Jun 27, 2019This house was a perfect rental for the week for me and my buddy. Both of us were from out of state (CA and FL) and attending a wedding nearby. The location of the house was about perfect for us, being both close to where the wedding was as well as close to town and a little bit of local nightlife (we were about to walk home from Kailua in about 20-25 minutes one night after going out). Kailua is a decent city about a 5 min drive away with pretty much everything you'll need close to you (Target, Safeway, Wholefoods, shopping, restaurants, and some decent little dive bars). My only complaint about this place was really just a simple mix up with the initial access into the property. The day before I arrived I was given an access code to the front door. When I arrived I used the code given and quickly realized after multiple attempts that the code was not the right code. After about 30 mins of trying to contact the owner I finally got a response to come reset the code. Unfortunately he was at work so his wife was going to have to come do it. Long story short, it took 3 hours after his initial response before his wife was able to make it over to reset it. From the moment I got there I had to wait about 3.5 hours to actually get into the house, which isn't the most fun to do when trying to get changed in clothes that are more suited for the heat and humidity (jeans and long sleeve shirt may be appropriate for the airport I departed from, but not for flying into Honolulu). So about 3.5 hours of being sweaty and miserable trying to kill time in town before being able to change. That being said, the rest of the property was very clean, decently furnished, and the quality of the house and amenities is what I would consider to be average for the houses in the area, which is to say that yes it was a nice place. I give the house 4 stars out of 5 because of the mixup of the entry access code and long response time. Otherwise I would probably say closer to 4.5 stars as far as how the property's profile vs reality was. I would recommend this property to a friend and I would consider staying here again.
Jun 27, 2019ｶｲﾙｱの町から車で3分位ととても利便性のいい場所です｡ 一軒家の2階部分の貸し切りでした｡最初入り方が分からなくて何度もお仕事中のTomさんに電話を描けてしまいました｡丁寧に説明してくれるのですが､私の英語力が乏しくて分かりませんでした｡ すると､何と❗わざわざ40分かけてTomさんのお父さんが家まで来てくれました｡本当にお世話になりました｡ 夏なのでｴｱｺﾝがないと生きていけない!とこの物件を選びしたが､実際は風通しも良くて窓を開けてると充分快適です｡
Jun 27, 2019Tom was a terrific host. My family - wife and 2 boys (10 and 7) visited Kailua for our vacation and found lots of room at Tom's place. Very clean and well kept. Very convenient location near the highway to Honolulu and close to the central part of Kailua. Thanks again for a great stay Tom!
Jun 27, 2019I feel this is not Airbnb quality. It seems to be a clumsy attempt to use the upstairs of a family home as temporary quarters. It would best be used as a low rent apartment. The "kitchen" was a cook top and refrigerator in the apparent side entrance foyer. The upstairs bathrooms are down the hall from the rooms and show long use by kids. The host, whom we didn't meet, was eager and communicated with us frequently. This may have been his first try at using Airbnb.
Jun 27, 2019I love Tom house location. Very safe, and nice walking neighborhood. His house is absolutely beautiful and clean. I would definitely book this place again for future vacations. However, the door by the kitchen and stairs could use a better sound proofs insulation. During our last two nights stayed, our downstairs neighbor were very loud and drinking passed midnight. We pretty much could hear everything from downstairs. Thank you Tom for the wonderful place you provided us.

Jun 27, 2019Tom was an excellent host. Although we never had a chance to meet it was easy to get a hold of him. He provided the door access before hand and we had no issues getting in. The space was perfect for 6 people with 2 bathrooms. The location is also a quick drive to everything you may need.
Jun 27, 2019It was a nice home and certainly a better value than a hotel. It is adjacent to a nice lagoon, and the neighborhood is quiet. It is close to downtown Kailua and all the shops, if you've rented a car. If you don't rent a car, you'll walk or bike a decent way to get around. The kitchen was small but usable. The beds were comfortable. It was definitely very clean and complete. This is an upstairs unit which is quite roomy; there's also a downstairs unit which he rents, and on our last night there, the people staying we're extremely loud until well past 2AM, but I'm sure they've left by now.

Jun 27, 2019Overall I'd give Tom's house 4 out of 5 stars! Tom was incredibly easy to work with and very responsive to any questions we had! The location of the home was perfect for what we needed. Close enough to Kailua's center to drive there in less than 5 minutes. Would probably be a 15 minute walk and quick bike ride. The house is on Enchanted Lake and that was both a pro and con. The view was great, the cool air flow coming across the lake helped keep the house comfortable, and we saw lots of ducks/birds. The con was that it got a little smelly but that's no fault of Tom's obviously. One bummer was that unit is on the 2nd floor of what was obviously a single family home. So as an upstairs guest there is no access to the backyard or the water front. The property is also located right on a semi-busy road so there was traffic and noise throughout the day and night. The road was convenient though. Quick access to Hamakua and to Kalanianaole hwy. The property had two large bedrooms, both with comfortable King sized Temperpedic mattresses. The bedding was comfortable as well. Each bedroom, as well as the living room, had air conditioning units. We used the bedroom units at night only, and were very comfortable and it drowned out the noise from the street (when there was noise). The overall cleanliness of the house was adequate but not impressive. It wasn't dirty but there were remnants of the last tenants - like hair. It wasn't unmanageable but not fun to deal with. One shower was pretty molded but we didn't even use that shower so it wasnt a problem. Of course we came across ants in the bathrooms but it didn't bother us a bit. As former residents of Kailua, we knew that ants are just part of the territory. We simply made sure to keep food in air tight containers or in the fridge. One con for us was that the temperature of the water in the showers was always hot. No matter how cold we turned the dial (all the way) the water was hot. This was not the case for the sinks though. This made it difficult for us to bathe our two small children, but we made it work by adding cold water from the sink to the bath. One different thing about the property is that the very small kitchen is located downstairs while the rest of the unit is upstairs. It wasn't a problem for us because we ate most of our meals at a friend's house or out. There are kitchenware provided but for us it seemed difficult to cook. The kitchen also is right outside of a bedroom for a downstairs guest. Sound proofing between the two units in this area could be improved. Jun 27, 2019We were very pleased with our decision to stay in Kailua. This part of the island has beautiful lush and green vegetation and trees, with a peaceful pace and very friendly locals. The description of this home was very accurate. We found the home clean, located near all amenities and the public beach is just a 5 minute drive away. Tom was very helpful and he replies to every communication promptly.

Jun 27, 2019There was so much this place offered. It is located in one of the best parts of Oahu. It is located within a mile of ,stores like Whole foods, gas stations, Safeway, restaurants, and two of the most upscale gorgeous beaches. It is also a very quick car ride to the amazing Nupali and within 30 minutes to Waikiki Beach, the airport as well as Kualoa Ranch and Central Oahu. It was a very safe and clean neighborhood and the house itself is parked right up against a beautiful lake that can be seen from every room. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of this home. From the very start he impressed me with making sure we got checked in alright and to let me know he was there if we needed anything. He also offered New Years suggestions. Tom and his wife are amazing. There is no doubt we will rent this home again and there is no doubt we will refer as many people as we can to this rental. You definitely can't go wrong with this property.

Feels like you are sharing same space with the other tenants because you can hear everything from the bottom apartment since it only has a glass door for separation. Not fit for bottom and top portion rental, needs cleanliness.

Jun 27, 2019The house is off the beaten path, which is perfect for those wanting to “live like the locals.” While the kitchen is small, it’s just enough for quick meals before hitting the road for tours or heading to the best beach in the world. The house is clean, the beds are comfortable, and air conditioning in the bedrooms and main living area were a welcome relief to the afternoon heat. We highly recommend this house for anyone staying on the windward side of the island.

Jun 27, 2019Great location. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and still close enough to many destinations and shopping areas. Air conditioning in the bedrooms and kitchen provided relief in the afternoon heat and warm evenings. Kitchen is small, just enough for small meals. If bottom unit is occupied, you can hear everything especially in the kitchen, which is located downstairs. Tom is professional, easy to communicate, and quick to respond.

Jun 27, 2019Loved our stay at Tom's for our first Airbnb experience. Beautiful, safe area and close to town. Also very roomy for the 4 of us. Easy check in and out(his directions were clear). So grateful for his prompt response to any questions we had and it was so nice to meet him in person on our last day. Beach towels and toys (ie. paddle boards/snorkel equipment) would have been great but basics were provided. We had no issue with (Website hidden by Airbnb) stated on other comments, but the other part of the duplex was not occupied during our stay. We will definitely consider booking there again. Jun 27, 2019The kitchenette is downstairs with no place to eat so food must be brought upstairs. The place is fairly modern , laminate floors good beds. Couches are somewhat uncomfortable. Nice view of the lake, modern washer and dryer.

Only negative I wanted to mention is that there isn't a hot tub like it says in the description. Otherwise the other reviews and description are very accurate! Would stay here again!
