We had a great time at Jon's place. It is very close to the beach. Jon welcomed us personally and showed us the apartment and the amenities. He also provided us with surfboards, beach chairs, beach towels, complementary water and a bottle of wine to get the party started. The studio was very clean and comfortable. The bed is huge and amazingly comfortable. In short, a great place to stay when visiting Waikiki area. Jon went out of his way to provide us with great service, a smile and kind conversation:-)

Jun 27, 2019Had a amazing stay in Jons studio. There was 4 of us. Nice new kitchen. Jon provided us with water, fruit, towels, surf boards, beach umbrellas, coolers, snorkeling gear. Gave us free surf lessons, drove us to the beach and set everything up for us for free. Suggested many restaurants and new places and beaches. Suggested a beach that only the locals know about and it was absolutely amazing!! The beach is so beautiful. Ask Jon about the beach! You won't regret going there!! Jon is very nice and always made sure we have everything we needed. Helped us get a jeep for 9.99$ a day. Overall a very pleasant stay!Thank you Jon. Mahalo
Jun 27, 2019We just finished the perfect trip to Hawaii with Jon as our host. We were first time airbnb users and were a little skeptical of airbnb vs our traditional hotel and resort. We usually stay in 5 star resorts like Hyatt Regency. Jon responded immediately after our initial inquiry. This is our also our first trip to Hawaii and we needed help with planning and activity suggestions. Jon offered a list of things to do and places to eat. Jon also offered to pick us up from the airport to save on taxi fees. He personally picked us up and handed us the keys and showed us the apartment. The apartment was perfect with everything we needed. Snorkel gear surfboards pots pans dishes glasses kitchen condiments. It is very charming yet simple and very clean. It is warm and cozy. We were offered fresh towel service, daily room make up, clean linens, bottled water and even a welcome bottle of desert wine with Hawaiian cookies. Jon provided island fruits complimentary for us. It was perfect after a long flight. It is in a perfect area close to the beach and restaurants. We walked to the beach everyday and learned to surf with Jon free. Jon also helped us rent a car for 2 days to explore the north and east shores of the island. He found a special for 9.99 per day at enterprise. We were given free parking in the building which was perfect after a day exploring and adventures. Jon knows the island very well and directed us to the best restaurants and activities. We walked to the food pantry bought some light groceries. Breakfast: Eggs fresh baked bread bacon and fresh oj to make perfect breakfasts in bed better than any room service at a fraction of the cost. Lunch sandwiches. We also walked to Aloha kitchen for some lobster eggs benedict. Amazing and under 15 dollars. We also saved money because most of the activities suggested were free or very inexpensive. Jun 27, 2019Upon arrival I felt at home, Jon made arrangements for a taxi to pick me up at the airport and bring me to the apt. The space was nice and clean and welcoming, the location...Amazing. Jon told me about all the shops, restaurants and beach's I should go to that were all in walking distance. Jon picked me up to go surfing and we got a chance to chat about Hawaii life! I rented a moped while I was there and was able to park it right outside the apartment, in my opinion this is the best way to explore Waikiki without having to worry about parking or taking cabs. At the end of my stay Jon was kind enough to give me a lift back to the airport. I do plan on visiting Hawaii again and definitely look forward to renting from Jon again.
Jun 27, 2019Our flight arrived late (9:00 PM) and Jon was very accommodating meeting us for check in and helping us find a late night place to eat. The unit was clean and comfortable. Jon gave my 11 year old daughter surf lessons the next day at Waikiki (waking distance) and helped us make the best of what was a short stay in Honolulu.
Jun 27, 2019Jon's studio was wonderful. Just as described. We had the studio, bathroom, and kitchen all to ourselves and Jon was very friendly and helpful via messages. Large cozy bed and a TV with HBO go and apple TV. Would definitely stay there again.
Jun 27, 2019I cannot say enough good things to say about our experience at Jon's Airbnb! He was so very welcoming, offered to pick us up from the airport at a discounted rate (Taxi's and users in Hawaii are very expensive). We arrived earlier than check in but Jon allowed us to lock up our luggage for the day prior to check-in so that we could start enjoying our time on the island. He immediately offered to take and teach my brother and I surfing which I believe is above and beyond. He had awesome recommendations of places to eat and things to do. He helped us even plan a very fun trip to the North Shore (included beach plans and other fun stops - Dole plantation farm, shopping, ect.). Overall everything was excellent, and we would definitely come back. The location is also great, a 2 minute walk from an ABC store, restaurants and the beach. Offered many extra accessories such as surf boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs, bottled water and much more. Will definitely be back, thanks again Jon!

So helpful with anything we needed. Surf boards, snorkels, pick up from airport, places to eat, the lot. Thank you so much for making our trip to Hawaii amazing. When we come back we will be staying here.
Jun 27, 2019My daughter and I spent 5 nights at Jons Chateau Waikiki and we had a really lovely time. Jon was a really accommodating host who went out of his way to take us for a surf and help my daughter catch a few waves!! He also shuttled us about one morning for a hike, breakfast and surfing at Waikiki. The studio apartment was clean, comfortable (the bed was fantastic!) and had everything we needed and was really close walk to beach, Hilton lagoon and shops. Fantastic food at Wailana cafe around the corner at Jons suggestion...... Thanks so much Jon for looking after us! Hopefully we will come back to visit your next air BnB at Diamond Head one day and meet your daughter :) Mahalo!!

Jun 27, 2019Jon was a great host! He picked us up at the airport and dropped us off. He made sure we had everything we needed the entire stay. The place had water, fruit, a bottle of wine for us, towels, beach items, the list goes on. He even brought us surfing and it was amazing! My birthday was over our trip and he ordered leis for my husband and I and had them waiting in the fridge for us. How thoughtful! Every day he recommended good restaurants for breakfast lunch dinner and even happy hour. The recommendations were always fabulous we never had anything bad, best food ever! Jun 27, 2019From the moment that I arrived at the location, Jon was very helpful. He assisted me with bringing my bags in and he made sure that I was comfortable and knowledgeable of where everything was and of how everything worked. It was just enough space for me. There was air conditioning, clean towels, a refrigerator, a microwave, and even a stove to cook food. Jon checked in on me daily and made sure that I was aware of where all of the local favorites were to eat, and to simply have a great time. Jon's place was walking distance from EVERYTHING - the mall, the beach, and a host of restaurants. If I ever come back to Hawaii, I will be more than glad to stay at Jon's place again. Jun 27, 2019Jon was very welcoming and had done a great job in preparing for my visit. He ensured I had all relevant information prior to arriving and personally met with me to ensure I was happily squared away when I checked-in. The room was very clean and updated. Spacious with a nice kitchen and decently sized bathroom. Jon was even generous enough to spend some time with me to show all the good places to eat and explore near Waikiki. If you have time, Jon is also willing to provide some surf lessons and allow you to borrow some beach gear with Waikiki Beach less than a 5 min walk away.
Jun 27, 2019My wife and I traveled to Hawaii for the first time last week. Although our destination was the Big Island, we had to spend a night in Honolulu. Given that all hotels were in excess of $300 a night and we just needed to kill about 18 hours in Honolulu, we thought of giving Airbnb a shot for the first time. This is when we came across Jon's listing. From the very beginning, Jon was incredibly friendly and courteous even before we departed Toronto. He would constantly stay in touch always keen to be of assistance in any way. He was nice enough to advise us that a cab from the airport to his place would cost $55 one way. He offered to pick us up at a one way cost of $29! Just as promised, he did exactly that, was already at the airport when we landed. Jon is an incredibly well rounded guy. Based on his vast travel experiences and professional background, we struck up a great rapport and friendship over some great conversation on the drive home. Jon's place is located in the heart of downtown Honolulu, a walking distance from all the hot spots. This worked out very well for us given that we only had about 6 hours the following morning to explore the city before our flight to the Big Island. The unit itself is extremely clean and comfortable. Although not requested or required, Jon ensured he had kept beach towels/chairs, snorkeling gear, toiletries, sun screen and some snacks/water for us should we decide to explore the beach. The bed was very comfortable and the studio apartment also has a kitchen and large bathroom. We were very comfortable in Jon's unit and encourage you to give Jon an opportunity to be your host. The best part of our short stay in Honolulu is the 'value add' Jon provides. When we arrived at his place around 10pm, he stayed back and assisted us plan our morning and afternoon in Honolulu with the aim of being able to see the most we can in our limited time. At 7am, he gave us an hour of his time and drove us around some really neat spots: Waikiki Beach areas, shopping district, Magic Island and then dropped us to Diamond Head where we did the Hike to the top. He suggested a great place for breakfast (Aloha Kitchen) where we had a lovely breakfast after the hike. At 2pm, he arranged for a ride to the airport for us at the same rate of $29. I only wish we had more time with Jon. A person who truly embodies the culture of Hawaii: generosity, kindness and always giving with a smile. Jon is your gateway to Honolulu having lived there for ages! We could not have asked for a better first Honolulu and Airbnb experience. We made a great friend in Jon, and will always remain in touch and be back to see him and his family soon!

The place is as described, in a sweet location and totally set up for adventures in Oahu! Jon graciously took my husband for a great surf session. We enjoyed snorkeling in places recommended by him-tons of gear is provided for guest use. Truly amazing! We highly recommend staying with Jon on a trip to Oahu.

He had towels, snorkel gear, chairs, and a surfboard for us as well as umbrellas, parking available, etc. Had apple TV which was convenient. He was in constant contact and was always giving recs on places to eat, things to do, etc. Very accommodating and fit our needs.

It is close to the beach, tons of great restaurants, and scenic spots. We could use beach umbrella, chairs, towels, and snorkeling equipment provided in the room. Also, parking was free at Jon's.

Jun 27, 2019Wow! Incredible First-Time AirBNB Experience! We were so nervous using AirBNB for the first time, we did not know what to expect. JON was THE REASON we went ahead and booked our first stay. Reading his reviews, person after person kept mentioning his hospitality in many different ways - and he definitely is THE MOST HOSPITABLE person I have ever met. Especially in over 15 years of my own vocation that is known for hospitality. Days before we arrived we were in communication with Jon in setting up our arrival. We had o stay at a hotel for the first half of our trip that was for business, but when it was vacation time we hopped on over to Jon's place that was a short distance away. Jon came and picked our baggage up earlier in the day so we could wrap our meetings and be checked out of our hotel and not have to drag luggage all around. Even in our stay in our hotel, Jon was answering our questions about the area and giving GREAT advice. Totally enjoyed Jon's place. It was a one room studio in an apartment complex that is only 3 stories tall. It was a quiet neighborhood and the main road was a 1 minute walk away. We walked everywhere in Downtown Waikiki and to the Ala Moana Mall. The beach and Hilton Lagoon was a 5 minute walk. All the food recommendations were excellent in taste and easy on the budget. Real places from real locals. Jon helped us plan our trips to the North Shore and other famous spots. He provided everything we needed to have a great time without being charged extra - Beach Towels, Shade Umbrella, beach chairs, Inner tubes, Snorkel Gear. He offered to take us out surfing but we were just so darn busy seeing everything else. Jon's place was great for our needs. We thought we were going to cook more, but just had snacks and breakfast we kept in the fridge. Jon surprised one day with fresh local fruit :-) Also, we are coffee addicts and wanted to brew our own even though local and national chain coffee shops were a short walk away so Jon went out of his way and brought over a coffee maker for us!!! We had to return the favor just a little bit, so we got him 2 Hawaiian mugs for the next guests ;-) And oh I want to buy the same bed he has! That thing was HUGE and SO COMFORTABLE! My back thanks you! The kindness and generosity were top notch. We hope to return to Ohau again, and if we do, we will definitely look up Jon's place for availability. Jon gus a real sense of Ohana. Jun 27, 2019Jon was a wonderful host. He picked us up when we arrived, and since we arrived before check-in, he took us to Diamond Head and took our bags to the room. Everything was waiting for us when we arrived after a day of adventure. We felt very secure and safe in our room, which is located near everything we wanted to do. This is a prime location nestled in a quaint neighborhood surrounded by big hotels and condos. It is near the bus stop, Uber drivers and transport services can easily find you and you can easily grab a taxi if that is your need. I highly recommend this location to anyone who plans on exploring Waikiki Beach and nearby attractions. The room is clean, the bed is comfortable and the water pressure in the bathroom is great. You will have wifi and internet TV if you decide to nestle in for the evening. There is easy access to a food mart if you want to make your own food, or Jon will give you great advise on where to eat. There were scuba masks, floats, coolers, beach towels and an umbrella available for a day on the beach. Our expectations were exceeded with this great find for fun in Hawaii.

He was quick with recommendations for eating places, though they were out of walking distance at times. The place he dropped me for lunch was amazing. The unit was clean and the bed was comfy and he included bottled water in the fridge which was an added bonus. I do wish he'd told me it was there when I arrived and not several hours later after I'd already hit the beach and bought myself a waterbottle at the shop down the street though.

The appartment was perfect, clean and the bed so confy after a big day of travelling ! Jon was an amazing host and I can't even start to tell you how grateful we are that we got to meet him. He was like family making sure we were having a good time throughout the whole trip. Giving us suggestions of things that we could do. We mentioned to him that we were trying to keep a low budget on our trip and he kept that in mind the whole time. Jun 27, 2019It was an amazing, incredible, wow experience.....We don't know how to explain....there are no words. Jon and his family are AMAZING! They assisted us in telling us about the island and where to travel and also great restaurants to eat. We were also taught how to surf....which was amazing! Hard but amazing! We went for my birthday and he was so sweet and brought us a piece of cake from his favorite bakery with candles so we could have a little piece of cake on my birthday and make a wish! He also got me and a beautiful Lei. Jason and I would recommend this place to everyone we can. Wow there really is no words to explain the family...ohana....that we felt.....I have never felt more love and welcomed than we did while we were in Hawaii. It was an awesome birthday and what a vacation! We can't wait to come back. Thank u so much! And when our flight was delayed many many hours he still didn't mind picking us up from the airport and swinging us by somewhere to get food cause we were (Website hidden by Airbnb) hotel would ever do that for you.

Jun 27, 2019Jon was a fabulous host. His communication was A+ and he made you feel very welcome and important even though he is a super busy guy! His attention to detail was great, and although the space wasn't super modern or fancy it was clean and comfortable and perfect for what we needed. Something to note for this property is the shared bathroom, which we were unaware of, not a major issue but prior warning would've been helpful. We loved our stay in Jon's place and appreciate all his assistance and ideas throughout our stay!

The best part is how lovely Jon is - he picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, gave us lots of advice on places to see and eat, texted each day to see if we needed anything, and took us surfing, hiking and snorkelling. The only downside is that the apartment shares a bathroom with another of Jon's apartments, but this is a minor inconvenience and is secure with various locks. We would definitely stay there again!

Jun 27, 2019Fantastic communication from the host. Easy pick up and drop off from the airport. The place was clean and comfortable. Was under the impression that it was a room in the owners condo but it's a room with a shared bathroom in motel style older accommodation. Great value overall but there was some dodgy characters on the street at night and i wouldn't want to walk alone in this area after dark.

The place was stocked with everything we'd ever need for the beach - chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear, a cooler, etc. Jon generously came to sweep and take out the trash every day, and he was always available via text to answer our questions and provide us with recommendations of places to eat and see. I think the best part of our stay was the morning Jon took us snorkeling and gave us a surfing lesson! He is absolutely so wonderful and sweet, and he truly exemplifies the kind spirit of Hawaii. He has several units in Honolulu and around Oahu (which I think is why some reviews mention having a shared bathroom - ours was private), and it is clear how much energy and effort he puts into making his guests feel welcomed and cared for! We would book with Jon again in a heartbeat.

Jun 27, 2019If you're looking for a place just to crash, this is a place for you. About a 15-20 minute walk to Waikiki beach, shopping and restaurants. The parking is slightly confusing so make sure you really read and pay attention. The room reminded me of a college dorm, a bed with a TV (Netflix was nice at night while winding down), and a small kitchen. The kitchen is a little out of date, as well as the bathroom. Our suitemates locked us out a few times all night, but Jon took care of that. Jon was a great host and gave us a lot of great suggestions for places to eat and drink, and things to do. He also provided a free surf lesson, which was a lot of fun. Jon was very attentive, friendly and communicated frequently (if needed).

We found a Thai restaurant with in blocks where you could eat outside and it was reasonably priced. It was nice to have a full kitchen where we could fix breakfast. Jon was helpful in so many ways. He was friendly and a good communicator. He helped out by giving me a ride to the airport. Jon is professional Uber driver. Jon offered to help organize all sorts of activities including surfing lessons. Parking was safe and secure at no additional cost. We loved the comfortable king size bed. The place was very clean.

Jun 27, 2019Jon was a great and considerate host. Picked us up and drive us back to the airport. Gave us a driving tour of the area. Gave us plenty of towels and beach gear. Even gave us a Toddler bathtub and baby shampoo for our little girl's bath time. The location was close to Waikiki Beach and walking distant from everywhere we wanted to go so we did not even get a rental car. The place was tidy with a decent kitchen. The shared bathroom was a non-issue. We appreciated the AC unit. Thanks for letting us rent out the unit.

Jun 27, 2019ﾋﾙﾄﾝでの学会参加のために利用しましたが､ﾋﾙﾄﾝだけでなくﾋﾞｰﾁやｺﾝﾋﾞﾆ､ﾚｽﾄﾗﾝ､ﾄﾛﾘｰの停留所などからも近く､非常に便利でした｡ﾍﾞｯﾄﾞ､冷房､ｷｯﾁﾝなどの設備もよく､ﾀｵﾙや飲料水も十分に供給され､これでﾋﾙﾄﾝの半額以下なのは､正に｢当たり｣という感じでした｡ 難点としては､ﾄｲﾚとｼｬﾜｰが隣室と共有なこと｡相手がｼｬﾜｰを使っている間､ずっとﾄｲﾚが使えないのがちょっと困りました｡また使用時には相手の部屋から入れないように鍵を掛けるのですが､終了時に鍵を開けるのを忘れると､ずっと入れないことになります｡今回は3回も相手に閉め出されました(そのたびにﾅｲﾌでこじ開ける必要がありました)｡このあたりは隣人がどんな人になるかという運次第なのでしょう｡ ｵｰﾅｰのｼﾞｮﾝさんは大変いい方で､｢朝食ならこのﾚｽﾄﾗﾝがお勧め｣｢今日は花火があるよ｣など､こまめに情報をくださいました｡空港送迎も行ってくれます(片道29ﾄﾞﾙ)｡なおﾁｪｯｸｲﾝの時間に関して説明文に何種類かの異なる記述がありますが､事前に相談すれば柔軟に対応してくださいます(今回は部屋が空いていたので午前中に入ることができました)｡
Jun 27, 2019Jon is the best host ever. Location fantastic. Our only issue was the shared bath because we didn't know. It didn't say that in the ad. The way it's set up is worse than a shared bath down the hall - it was an adjoining bath. The bath had 4 locks, so we kept our bathroom door locked on our bedroom side until we wanted to go in, then we went in and locked the bathroom from the inside on the door to the other guest's room. We forgot to unlock that one once, so the other guest couldn't get into the bathroom. They had to knock on the shared wall to get our attention so we could unlock it. Luckily we were there! The only reason I didn't lower the star rating down from 5 is because Jon, our host, really is exceptional. His advice and attention would offset any inconvenience there might be. He was always available by text, gave great restaurant and activity suggestions, even got in the car with us to show us around the immediate neighborhood.

Jun 27, 2019Just finished the perfect Hawaii vacation at Jon's Airbnb. It's a basic but very functional apartment, a TERRIFIC value for the money, especially if you plan on being active in Hawaii (why else would you be there) and don't need luxury accommodation since you won't be there much! The nicest perks: the apartmnet is fully equipped with beach gear, water shoes, boogie board, coolers. I felt like a local! I couldn't believe how close I was to a REAL SURFING BEACH... Jon can get you a surfboard or even offer a lesson or arrange a side trip to Diamond Head for a very reasonable fee. But if you have your own board just carry it five mintues down the street and jump in the surf! It's hard to believe a reasonably priced place like this exists so close to perfect surfing. It's true that you have a shared bathroom, but for me it was no big deal. There's a bolt on both access doors; you bolt your door from the inside and the other guest is locked out while you're there. Nobody really uses the bathroom for more than 5 minutes (10 if you're showering) so it is a minor inconvenience given all the other amenities. I never felt unsafe or worried with the shared bathroom, and it stayed clean the entire time, and I never even saw the other guest on the other side of the door. The neighborhood is a quiet local area surrounded by mega hotels like Hilton Illikai and shopping like Bloomingdales and macy's, so you really have it all and can walk EVERYWHERE you need: groceries, restaurants, shopping, beach. I felt safe and welcome in this secret neighborhood. People are friendly but respect your privacy and it was a perfect stay for my short getaway. Best of all is JON. Make no mistake, he is a king among hosts (and coming from a Superhost like me, that's a rare compliment). Jon will take care of all your needs, he's genuinely interested in people and wants you to enjoy Hawaii. He can pick you up and drop you at the airport for a VERY reasonable charge, tell you where to go and what to do, arrange anything. It's like having a private tour guide that comes with the apartment. I''m going to make all my layovers stop in Hawaii and stay at Jon's apartment every time :)

Jun 27, 2019Jon's place was very quaint and close to everything! There is a shared bathroom but it was completely fine and we never even saw the other guests and all the doors lock on both sides. The unit was quiet and easily accessible by the bus or you can just walk everywhere, which is what we did. What really shone for us though was Jon himself. He truly loves where he lives and goes above and beyond for his guests. He's kind and accommodating and has such knowledge about the island! He kept in touch our whole trip via text giving us restaurant recommendations, the best snorkel spot and even drove us to diamond head as a courtesy. He picked us up and dropped us off at the airport too, and that was so convenient. Much cheaper than a cab! Can't say enough wonderful things about Jon and our experience, 11 out of 10- will be back as soon as we can.

Jun 27, 2019Jon was very friendly and helpful, suggesting lots of places to visit and places to eat. He was available 24/7, even at 4am when we received notification that our flight had been delayed by four hours. We were able to let him know that we no longer required an early lift to the airport. I didn’t realise when I booked the apartment several months earlier that there is a shared bathroom. As mentioned in a previous review the bathroom is between two apartments. When using it you lock the door to the other apartment but you have to remember to unlock the door again when you have finished. The occupants of the other apartment forgot to do this one time, leading to a moment of panic when I thought they weren’t home. Overall it was a very convenient location for a two night stay and Jon did his utmost to ensure we had a great stay.

This place is great for young folks who want to enjoy the water --full of water toys, close to the ocean and reasonably priced. Not as well suited for women of a certain age traveling alone--shared bathroom can be a problem; steep steps also can be a problem ( though Jon very graciously carried my bags upstairs) he was not around when I had to leave. The area is between big buildings and the street is noisy although the good news is that it is quite well situated.

We've been using Airbnb for almost 6 years and by far Jon is one of the top 3 hosts we've met. He was always there for us wehn we needed anything. He even took us to secret snorkeling spot and gave a surfing lesson for my 7 year old son. IF I'll go to Oahu again I'll be definately trying to stay at Jon's place!

Most importantly Jon was one of the most helpful and amazing host we have ever met: he helped us in every possible ways: giving us a ride back and forth from the airport, keeping our huge bags before we could check in and after we had checked-out in order for us to make the most of our time in Honolulu without having to carry all our stuffs (this was priceless!), and last but not least Jon gave us many many good advices about all the happenings and great places to go and experience in Honolulu! He went above and beyond for us and we feel very grateful. We definitely recommend this place if you want to discover Honolulu!

Jun 27, 2019The studio apartment was in a convenient location. Although we were there only one night Jon was an excellent host. Gave us some good restaurant recommendations and went out of his way to collect us and drop us to the place. 5 star for Jon. I did not know however that it was a shared bathroom. I did not see this advertised anywhere so this affected my rating. The room was clean. Being a Saturday night it was pretty noisy outside, and the blinds did not stop all the light getting into the room. There was a few lights from across the street shining in on our bed, which made it a terrible nights sleep.

Jun 27, 2019This room is very close to the water, but in a very busy part of the city.. lots of traffic noise. Turn the a/c unit down to 74 to get the room cool enough to sleep. One is very close to lots of places to eat, and a nice beach is short walk away. Jay is very outgoing and accommodating, brought requested things over quickly.

Jun 27, 2019To All, This isn't the Castle or Trump tower, but its clean, safe, central to all close to ares fringes to beach, so for extra 2-3 blocks walking, ya get value- Jay has set unique Standard to your welfare of Taxi-costs Ubber, the run-around hell take care-of at ridiculous low rate. we Went out exploring the western block cooridor, and its got Jazz, Rock, dancing venues, the area has upscaled what he has no power of, its friendly nto all as area is just outside beach, harbor, main downtown of Honolulu, Waikiki...The fountains of the canal, river areas all lead to yachts, harbor, swimming, surfing beaches....Again uniquely its Safe, nice, protected, but the scene is midly far ,the extra 2-3 blocks total of 6 blocks from hilton hotels and all... the kitchenette, refridge, and micro-satisfy cause resturants are the prize, of this , his many hosted, and store thats affodable, fresh, new well run, and if ya see down the streets, its traffic free, essentially so evening, walk, stroll a good experience, the bed was actually big king, and comfee' and if not rich this is a great find, as is your host, you call hes there or calls when, and guides or delivers (Website hidden by Airbnb) From Tiger, a fanatic, critic, its good.. the showers hot, tall, standup, and shared, but the doors lock, and its a system to sharing, no intrusion... ask for extra towels and ya got it made... Enjoy this little jewel and his others as Value priced, not competing... its its own, nice place....and the air conditioner works!

Jun 27, 2019Jay is lovely really wants you to feel welcome, for us the shared bathroom will be something to look for in the comments, it didn't appeal to us (was in comments but no photos) and no towels was a real miss on our behalf (if written in the comments) for this property. I think the property needs new blinds also people can walk past and see straight into your room, I'm glad we only had 1 night here, was closer to the airport that's why we chose it, however a smoker had been in the room previously and you could smell it, all the added extras of snorkelling gear and surf board is great, car park a bonus, I want to write more positive however it was very basic and the tiny shared bathroom was just too much to look past and not write a review. Again Jay is lovely but that's where it ended for us unfortunately.
Jun 27, 2019Jay is an AMAZING host, and his condo was so convenient and a great place to stay! I had originally booked two nights, but unfortunately my flight to Honolulu was canceled and I didn't make it until the next day. Jay was super understanding and accommodating about the situation which was super appreciated, and he was extremely reachable and available by call and text. Jay also had great recommendations and connections for food and activities, and he even curated it to the fact that I only had one day for vacation before moving to a hotel for work. Jay actually has nine different properties that he rents out through Airbnb, so you may not have the exact location experience as I did. However, I had a private room and bathroom while I was there, and was in a brand new (1.5 year old condo), so while I was expecting an entire apartment to myself with a shared bath, the set-up worked for me. There is a shared common space and kitchen, and a nice mom-daughter duo was in the other room in the condo. Jay had plenty of supplies - beach chair, umbrella, towels, snorkel equipment, etc. which made it so simple to get to the beach within minutes of checking in! The condo was also SUPER convenient to get around the area! A quick 5-10 minute walk gets you to Kahanamoku Beach and the Hilton lagoon, a 15-20 minute walk to the Shirokiya Japanese Village, and a 10 minute walk to the Ala Moana mall. I don't think anywhere was more than a 25 minute walk from where I wanted to go. Highly recommend Jay and his Waikiki Airbnb properties! If I'm ever back in the area in the future, I will definitely stay again!

Jun 27, 2019We just finished the best experience with Jay's Airbnb. This family are just the best when it comes to hosting. The initial communication was spot on with sharing information about Hawaii and planning of activities etc. The host offers cheap airport transport helping us save money right from the start and gave us peace of mind to being picked up after a long flight. The unit was walking distance to 3 stunning beaches which was very important to us. There's a giant comfortable brand new King bed the unit was clean and functional with large flatscreen tv with Netflix, desk workspace, dining area full kitchen and Air con. We were walking distance to grocery and countless local bars and restaurants, we also had a private bathroom. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with our host he was a wealth of knowledge on Hawaii and its environment, with great tips on where to go surfing snorkelling and other activities, we wouldn't of found such fabulous spots without him. With our hosts advice we ate exceptionally well and didn't have to spend more than $10 a meal.We didn't rent a car as our host gave us all info on the cheap buses and also drove us many places. Another incredible thing about Jay and his family is they provide surfboards paddle boards boogie boards bikes snorkel gear beach gear incl. esky/cooler beach chairs beach towels and beach umbrella all FREE. They even provided free bottles of water and when we arrived there were beers and snacks in the fridge. This was an amazing experience from beginning to end, this family have 11 listings on Airbnb and are normally always booked but if your lucky to secure one of their listings you will not be disappointed. This family is one of a kind..... Hawaii, Jay and his family were just Awesome. Thanks so much guys.

We so appreciated him fitting us into his busy day - getting up early - 6.30 am so he could take us on the on the scenic route to Laniki to view the cottage our family stayed at over a number of years. He also went out of his way to take us to the outlet shopping mall. Jay certainly went the ' extra mile' for his guests. We will highly recommend people booking with Jay.

Jun 27, 2019The stay at Jay’s place was so good that it is hard to put into words, but I will try, the host was very helpful in getting us rides and tips for local things to do, restaurants to eat at and places to view spectacular local sites that only a life long Hawaiian would know, along with many free items to use including beach chairs , coolers, towels , snorkel gear. On top of all that, my wife sprained her knee by accident while playing in the waves early in our trip and Jay was so helpful that he went to 4 Walmart’s and a Longs Drugs to find her crutches to use by the morning, WOW, can’t say thanks enough ! Don’t hesitate to stay at Jays place and I do not think another host could even come close to being as helpful or accommodating as Jay was for us! A+++++

Jun 27, 2019You will be staying around Ala Moana Blvd and Kalia Rd. It's about a five minute walk to Kahanamoku Beach. Jay provides a lot of things that you would otherwise buy/rent like surfboards and snorkeling gear. He has bottle water for you when you arrive and even when you get back to your room. Beach towels are included and there is also washer/dryer combo and detergent provided in the apartment at no extra charge. We were off to Moana Falls and he lent us a can of mosquito repellent just in case. I didn't use any of these items/amenities as I was at the end of my stay but if I ever go back I would contact Jay as he is very helpful and hospitable.

Jun 27, 2019Just Wow! Location is great and just a couple minutes from the lagoon and the ocean. The appartement is the cleanest Airbnb we’ve ever had with lots of things we could borrow (beach chairs, cooler, surf board, etc...). The bed is very comfortable and the parking is cheap. The communication with the host was easy and he spent a lot of time with us answering our questions and suggesting things to do around. We recommend it without any doubts :) Aloha!

Jun 27, 2019In short: Not recommended. Most weird and frustrating airbnb experience ever and felt scammed. Location and photos in listing did not match the place I stayed at. Host Jay seems friendly but does not understand customer service and was not at all helpful in resolving the multiple issues we had. The details: I showed up at the address listed on the airbnb site (The Windsor Waikiki, a nice looking building) but it turned out that Jay had texted me a different address. When I called him he said something about the airbnb address being the old office and to go to the new location that he had texted me. I didn't think too much about it but in hindsight it was a little suspicious. When we finally checked-in with the small office downstairs and went to the unit, we found that the place was small and rundown which I figured is what you pay for given its location in Waikiki. However our stay only got worse from there. The place was not clean even though my reservation was charging $50 in cleaning fees for a 2 night stay. Cabinets, trashcan, furniture etc. were old and rusty or generally run down. There was long hair on the ground from previous visitors/guests. The tabletops, bedframe, TV had dust or streaks over it and looked like it had not been cleaned for a while. There were 2 small bottles of water in the fridge and when we ran out the second day, I drank some water from the water filter also in the fridge and immediately spat it out because it was SOUR. When I opened the lid of the water filter I saw that it was moldy on the inside. At this point I'm pretty frustrated but figured I get what I pay for in Waikiki and was still somewhat willing to let it slide. The 2nd night when we got back, we noticed that some things were different about the place - a light we didn't know how to turn off was now off and the balcony door was open though we had left it closed. I immediately messaged Jay about this and his reply was that he had come in to turn off the AC because a neighbor had complained about it dripping. I was beyond shocked that he would just come into a place we were staying in and not say anything before, during, or after the fact. I would've been more than happy to come back to turn off the AC if it was causing problems (which I was not made aware of). In the same conversation I told Jay about the issues we had with lack of cleanliness and filtered water being sour and how frustrated I was but his response was that guests typically buy their own water so the water filter was not meant to be used, and that he would tell the cleaning people to do a better job "next time" - comments that don't help me at all. I found this to be completely poor customer service and lack of understanding from the guest perspective. Thankfully we were only there for a short stay. Was able to work something out with the help of an amazing airbnb support rep but I feel like I have lost my previous confidence and trust in the airbnb experience. To be fair, Jay was easy to reach through airbnb messaging and text and gave local suggestions for food and activities. But I would recommend only conversing through the airbnb app for the important stuff so that airbnb support can more readily help you if you find yourself in the same situation as me.
