This residence is great for a quick, inexpensive stay in New York whether its for business, travel, or personal purposes. I am glad to welcome all guests! Kevin was very welcoming and thorough with all information. The description of the property was accurate. It's also near the MTA if you want to get to another part of the city. Kevin got in touch before I arrived, and his brother was there to meet me and show me where everything was, which was great. Last but not least, he had provided a great information on the local area with recommendations for places to eat, etc., which I found really useful.
Jun 27, 2019Kevin was nice. And he was very responsive via text, which I appreciate. The listing is in East Harlem, which isn't for everyone. The area is not very posh, but, for me, it feels like home, so I tend to stay there whenever I go to New York. The listing description was accurate enough, with respect to the way the apartment looks. If you can't deal with noise at night, however, this might not be the place for you. The neighbors were surprisingly noisy in the wee hours of the night and virtually silent during the day. This apartment is close to the subway, which was very useful.

Se mantuvo en contacto con nosotros y fue muy comprensivo aún cuando llegamos más tarde de la hora acordada para el check in porque nos perdimos en el subway. También fue muy comprensivo para acordar el check out de acuerdo a la hora que fue más conveniente para nosotros, aún cuando también se nos hizo tarde. Nos proveyó de un matress de aire para nuestra amiga que vino de M.A. y se quedó una noche con nosotros. El barrio nos pareció bien, no tuvimos ningún incidente. Muchos puertoriqueños y Dominicanos, así que nos sentimos como en casa. Todo fue muy cómodo y limpio. Los vecinos hicieron mucho ruido en las noches, pero no fue problema para nosotros. Una sugerencia sería poner un espejo de cuerpo completo en alguna parte del apartento. En resumen, el apartamento fue perfecto para nosotros, nos volveríamos a quedar y claro que lo recomendaría! Jun 27, 2019Kevin is a really nice host, flexible and very responsive. The apartment is a 4th-floor walk up, well-maintained and exactly as advertised in the listing. The apartment has all the basic things--it's especially nice to have a kitchen and comfy sofa. There's no TV and wifi, but you probably don't need it anyway since you are here to see New York city! It is just a short 5-min walk from the subway station, so very convenient. Street noise is not a problem although you can hear the neighbors at times (the kids next door can be noisy). East Harlem is a bustling Latino neighborhood with many local eateries and shops. The food selection is supposed to be great (too bad we didn't get to try any). There is a grocery store right outside the building. There're always locals hanging out in front but we were never bothered. All and all, a good choice if you are looking to stay in this part of the city.

Jun 27, 2019Kevin's place is exactly as other reviewers describe it: nice and clean, spacious and very convenient as a base to explore and enjoy NYC. The Neighborhood is definitely classic East Harlem. Very real NYC vibe. Not a tourist area. The neighbors are noisy sometimes, so if you are a light sleeper, that could be a problem. But I didn't have any trouble. It would have been nice to have wireless, but I didn't come to NYC to play online, so I didn't mind that too much. Kevin was a very nice, responsive host!

Jun 27, 2019Me and my husband stayed in the apartment this was our first time using this site and Kevin made us feel like we are regulars. We stayed one night and it was wonderful. Kevin contacted us right away and was really good with getting us whatever we need to stay there. The area is the only bad thing but when we went in the apartment you really forget about the outside.

His place was exactly as described, as shown in the pictures and also very clean. The neighborhood is great and the room is a great price for someone looking to stay in the city and explore. It's right next to the trains, neighborhood gems but also commonly known stores for anyone who isn't familiar with the area.

Jun 27, 2019This is my first time using Airbnb. Kevin responded quickly to my inquiry about booking his apartment. Once booked he was very easy to reach via phone or text if I needed to. His one bedroom apartment was very clean and nicely furnished. It is central to a lot of restaurants and neighborhood shopping should you need something and a couple blocks from the subway and buses. Kevin was a great host. He was there to greet me, show me around the apartment and tell me a bit about the area. He also has maps and booklets about what to visit while in New York City. There is wifi in the apartment which is great. Kevin checked in with me just to make sure everything was ok during my trip. I had a wonderful stay at his apartment and would book it again!

The apartment is two blocks from the subway and easy to navigate from. I would definitely recommend staying at Kevin's for all those considering a trip to New York.

Jun 27, 2019Kevin's a great guy, but if you're looking for a hotel-like experience, this is NOT it... This however, IS a genuine NYC experience. Noisy & inconsiderate neighbors, dirty streets, dangerous vibes... All in all your safe, and anyone you actually talk to will be cool... Kevin was also very considerate and did everything he could to add comfort to my stay, he even warned me of the noisy neighbors in advance... This place is good for people who already know NYC, and need an affordable, SHORT-TERM (like 1-2days), place to crash uptown...

Jun 27, 2019When I arrived to the apartment I was met by Kevin with a big welcome and smile. He carried my suitcase up without my even asking. The apartment was what I expected. Very comfortable, clean and spacious for a NYC apt. Kevin was always within text or phone and answered all questions I had. He made sure I had enough wifi by actively calling cable to boost the signal which I thought was really great. He checked in with me regularly to make sure my stay was great. The neighborhood has many resturants and stores near by for convenience. Thanks Kevin I had a great stay.
Jun 27, 2019My friend and I stayed at Kevin's apartment during the Panorama Music Festival on Randall's Island. The apartment is extremely accessible to Randall's Island - easy walk. Kevin was very responsive before and during our stay. The apartment was clean and perfectly comfortable - photos were accurate. Bonus points for the powerful air conditioning unit - a must during July in NYC. Harlem is a great neighborhood and it was nice to get away from some of the tourist traps downtown. I highly recommend and would stay again in the future.

Jun 27, 2019The host was very nice and answer any questions I had before and after my arrival to New york. His apartment was fine if you planning on staying for a couple days. I didnt like that his items was still left in the closet because we really didnt have anywhere to put our things. Also i didn't like the fact in the closet it was 7 roaches on a trap that made me think he have roaches in the house and this made me to keep all my luggage close until my stay ended but overall we had a pleasant stay. This apartment doesn't have TV but it does have WiFi but you don't really need a TV if you visit New York because so much to do there. Also his apartment is located in urban neighborhood which fill with different Ethnic group mostly Latino and Blacks. His apartment is located on 4th floor of the building no elevator only stairs so just be prepared to walk a lot stairs. The hallway are dirty and I saw people smoking and drinking which I didn't like as well. Also people hang out in from of the building but no way said or did anything to us. Next door neighbor who is deaf with kids are very loud and stay up and make noise all night so be prepared to listen to noise neighbors Overall I had a wonderful time and new York despite the little mishap on arrival but the host himself is a very nice person but I probably won't be staying at this location anymore just because the building, loudness and the neighbors.

Jun 27, 2019Staying here was amazing. The apartment was immaculate, everything was functional, and there was even air conditioning (which is a God-send in this New York heat). Despite the occasionally leaking air conditioner that had to be emptied (which we were notified about earlier), I really have no complaints on my stay in Kevin's apartment. He was very friendly and helpful. He even offered clear directions on how to get to his place as well as maps in order to get around. My only advice for people staying here in the future is that although Kevin's place is nice and well-kept, the location is still in East Harlem and it can get a little sketchy and dangerous (especially at night). This location is right opposite the projects (it is important to note that it is not the safest area). However, the overall experience was a great one, Kevin was awesome, and we were able to accomplish everything we set out to do.

The appartment was perfectly clean, pleasant. The neighborhood is full of life, neighbours were just kind and really welcoming towards me. Subway and buses are really close to the house. He was available to answer any questions we had especially when it came to traveling around! The apartment was cozy and extremely clean!! Such a great stay and plan on returning!

The apartment itself is exactly as described, spotlessly clean and with good facilities in East Harlem providing a taste of real New York City life! Taking the Subway was very easy and Central Park is just a 10 minute walk away - the apartment is well located for exploring all over New York. Jun 27, 2019The place is absolutely great and located ideally within East Harlem close to the 6. The apartment was clean and as described. Kevin is super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we had one of our worst experiences with AirBnB so far due to the neighbors - first, we had a deaf couple with three children fighting, screaming, crying, yelling, stomping etc until 2am(!). Then, there was a party (granted - it was Halloween weekend) with lots of yelling, running, stomping, dancing etc till 9am(!) with repeated interruptions from angry neighbors shouting obscenities at the party at times like 6am. And obviously the kids an parents were up and running again at 10am. I know that it is outside of Kevin's reach and that sometimes such things can happen, but considering the noisy surroundings this place is not ideal to sleep off a jetlag from an intercontinental flight...

Jun 27, 2019I had a great stay at Kevin's. I arrived pretty late and Kevin waited for me for check in. He was friendly and helpful. The apartment was clean and well-equipped. Super close to subway. Kevin also let me check out pretty late. If you are looking for a really quiet spot though, this is not it, as the neighbors can be loud, at least when I was there. But most of us come to NYC to explore the city so it really isn't much of a problem.

Jun 27, 2019Kevin's place was wonderful. It is located close to the subway and in a lively family neighborhood. The bed was comfy, the bathroom good, and the couch great as well. Kevin was great with communication, and he gave us a very kind welcome. The place was very clean. It was overall a fantastic value for a stay in New York, near to the subway which makes it easy to get around town. We would recommend that you bring earplugs if you're noise-sensitive. I'm a heavy sleeper and was fine, but my wife is a light sleeper and the neighbors' kids intermittently woke her up with noise. Again, though, a really great experience overall. We would definitely recommend Kevin's place.
Jun 27, 2019Kevin was a great host. Check in was fast and easy. I was able to find parking close by and didn't have to pay a fee. The children next door are loud from running around their apartment but Kevin was upfront about it. Great place to rest your head at night. I would stay here again.

Jun 27, 2019Place was clean, simple, and comfortable place to stay. Neighborhood is a litty iffy and the neighbor's kids were loud but Kevin warned us about that. We just needed a place to crash for the night and it did the job well. Kevin was very thoughtful about checking in and making sure we had everything we needed.

Jun 27, 2019Kevin is a very responsive and accommodating host, and his apartment was clean as cozy, as described. The building was close to public transportation and we were able to find parking right out front, which made travel both within the city and our exit from it very easy. Unfortunately, the night we stayed, we were awoken multiple times by repeated and sustained noises from Kevin's next-door neighbors, making made sleeping extremely difficult for us; this is not Kevin's fault, just something to be aware of if you are a light sleeper.

Jun 27, 2019Thank you so much for everything Kevin! It was exactly how you described and very easy to travel around the city especially if you were looking to commute as I was. Kevin checked on me throughout my stay and was where he said he would be right when he said he would be there. I'm big on food so I'd suggest Amy Ruth's for breakfast. The chicken and waffles are incredible and you can walk there if you want to take in Harlem no problem or get driven there by a ride share for 5 bucks. It's great if you are going to explore the city and just want somewhere to hang your head. So very clean also. Thank you so much Kevin!

I am not supposed to lift heavy because of breast implant due to cancer and he not only brought my bags up, but offered to come back the next morning when my shuttle came to take me to the airport and help bring my bags down. The place is simple and did the trick for the one night that I stayed. I'm familiar with the neighborhood but didn't realize shops close a bit early for being in Manhattan, (Duane Reade closed at 9:00 but found a Rite Aid 2 blocks up) but you can walk 10-15 south to the Upper East Side and you've got everything you need.

Jun 27, 2019The neighbors are loud, but Kevin warns you. I just wish I had brought my ear plugs since they didn't quiet down until later. Otherwise, the lamb was perfect for me and very convenient from LaGuardia. I'd stay here again

Jun 27, 2019This is a cute little apartment that was just perfect for the two of us! It was my boyfriend's first trip to the city and it was nice to have a place to come back to that felt more like a home than any hotel. It was super close to the subway and very easy to navigate. We didn't have any problems thankfully, but Kevin still checked up on us on the day we didn't see him. We had a great time and loved the apartment. It helped get a little more authentic taste of the city.

The neighbors are loud but we were all exhausted and it didn't bother us. My friends and I have already discussed a return trip.

The neighborhood is lively and within walking distance of tons of shops and restaurants. It's right off of the train which makes it super convenient to get around. Neighbourhood looks a bit rough around the edges but very friendly people and good eats if you know where to look. Kevin himself was a great host and always kept in touch, was there to welcome me in despite arriving late.

Jun 27, 2019No tv in apartment but if you plan on being out and about this might not be an issue. Place could use some more attention cleaning wise. Kevin was great in letting us book we were coming in late and he wouldn't be in till late so the booking worked out. The noise wasn't bad at all really. The flights up weren't an inconvenience the neighborhood is great plenty of authentic restaurants and places to look at.

Jun 27, 2019Kevin is a communicative and wonderful host. Apartment has the essentials and I was able to park my rental car via street parking (exception on Mon and Thur 9:30am-11am) see street signs in the area. Overall, my girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay, and the neighborhood is fine.

Jun 27, 2019Kevin's place was in a great location in Harlem. The subway is right next to his place so it was easy to get to where we were going. Kevin's place was exactly as pictured and he made sure we had everything we needed. He was excellent with communication and even checked in on us the next day. One thing is I didn't realize there wasn't a TV so if you like to relax with a TV at the end of the day I would suggest bringing your laptop! Overall, my boyfriend and I had a great weekend in New York and in Kevin's place. Thank you Kevin!
Jun 27, 2019Kevin was awesome host, anytime I had issue he was only text away. I've never been to a huge city like New York. But Kevin made the trip and experience an amazing one. Kevin off the bat let me know that neighbors were going to be a little noisy given the fact they were deaf family. But everything was awesome, he waited passed the check-in listed just to make sure I made there. And check-out was just as smooth. Thank you Kevin for being a awesome host.

The only thing were the neighbors that are a deaf family which Kevin warned us about them making loud noises during the night so if you're a light sleeper just know that. But overall we had a lovely stay and thank Kevin for letting us stay at his home.

Jun 27, 2019My husband and I traveled to NY to celebrate his birthday. We enjoyed our 4 day stay in Kevin's home. The location is very convenient to the subway which made it possible for us to get everywhere we needed to go. Kevin was very flexible and accomodated our early arrival and late check out. The air-conditioning was AWESOME. The location is very close to 125th St which is historic Harlem and near the Apollo Theatre. We were able to take in a play at the National Black Theatre and hear live music at one of the local bars. The loud children are no longer there so we were able to sleep well with no disturbance. We were often returning late at night and felt safe in the neighborhood. If I'm travelling to that area again I would choose to stay in Kevin's home again. Thank you Kevin for opening up your home and allowing us to have a great experience in NYC!

He's great about checking in if you need anything and is very helpful. This is a great place to explore and enjoy Spanish Harlem from.

The location and price are good if you are looking to stay in Spanish Harlem. The subway is close and there are lots of restaurants nearby. The apartment itself is pretty barebones, but gets the job done as somewhere to crash for the night. The neighbors were pretty noisy though.

Jun 27, 2019Location and neighborhood are quite nice, we actually landed right in the middle of El Festival del Barrio all along 116th which added a great option for walking and eating. The apartment itself is reasonably spacious, well equipped with pretty much everything you want, and overall very pleasing. The bed could use an upgrade, it's low end and plasticky, but functional. The air conditioner is fairly loud, so if you have issues with noise make sure to bring ear plugs if you'll want the air on at night. The apartment is actually quite quiet otherwise, surprisingly, but we got pretty unlucky our second night: one of the neighbors had a very loud group of guests or party making noises well into the early morning. Again, make sure you have ear plugs, but that's always a good idea for cities. Overall we had an excellent stay, marred just by the neighbors being noisy on one particular night.
Jun 27, 2019My stay at Kevin's place was great. He reached out to me the day before to confirm. The apartment is way to find and really close to plenty of places. The express bus is right at the corner and the crosstown bus is a block away. Target and Old Navy is about a 5-10 min walk. There's a grocery store right down the street as well. Plenty of good food in the area. The apartment is very simple, just what I needed. The minor things is it's a 4th floor walk up and there's no TV but I was fine with those things. I recommend!

Jun 27, 2019What a great location! If you love being in neighborhoods that's deep rooted in culture, this is it. East harlem-Spanish Harlem, it's a gem. So many great food places and walkable to all of them. His place is very clean and minimal, allows you to be more in the moment with the person you're starting with and enjoy simplicity. Kevin was so communicative, it felt like texting a friend. Loved it here, definitely recommend.
Jun 27, 2019Kevin is an excellent host - place is exactly as described, clean, location was in the heart of Harlem and near to the metro and he was one of the better communicators I've had as a host. He checked in on our stay and accommodated us with special requests. The a/c in the bedroom was a lifesaver (and in NY, it's rare to find places with any a/c even in restaurants). Only downside was that wifi didn't work during our stay - it would work maybe a few minutes then we'd have to reboot to get another few minutes. It apparently was an issue with the internet provider and wasn't a huge deal since we didn't spend that much time in the apt. Overall, would recommend.
Jun 27, 2019Overall great place to stay, wifi is a bit finicky, and if you plan on bringing food to make or heating up leftovers you should bring your own pan, other than that it was a five minute walk to the 6 train which was super convenient, it was really clean and smelled great when we got there, lots of food is around and check out was super smoooth!

The apartment was very clean and well kept. Kevin was very generous and made sure everything was perfect though out our whole stay. Highly recommended

Jun 27, 2019The apartment is in the heart of El Barrio, and a short walk from the subway which means you are a half hour from the East Village and 45 minutes from Brooklyn. Kevin is a great host and a great communicator when it comes to arriving, leaving, and even connected during our stay to make sure things were going well. If I am in NYC again, I will definitely stay at Kevin's apartment. The apartment itself is spacious (by NYC standards), and a great AC-unit that helps keep the space cool. Plenty of natural light and the place is clean and orderly. Highly Recommend.

Although I️ go to NY a lot, he made sure to recommend nearby food places along with things to do. This area is recognized as Spanish Harlem and you can find whatever you need in each street. Super close to the express bus (which can take you to the subway) and there are plenty of restaurants that you can walk to. He's very quick to respond if you have any questions. I recommend!

Basic accommodations but comfortable, no television/radio, wifi is strong, apartment is in building a walk up building to the 4th floor (short walk up). Water gets very hot, apartment is quiet for most part, bed is comfortable, and living room is very peaceful to sit in. I booked same day at the last minute to save money on hotels. Kevin was at work when I tried to book so communication was slow. When we did meet at the apartment, he was very hospitable and kind. The apartment is in a good location, close to many restaurants and a vibrant city day/night life. I'd stay in this apartment again, great location and was cool for what I needed it for at the time. No high expectations of this apartment but if you're just dropping your bags and hitting the streets then this is just what you need. Hang out Uptown or in other Boroughs then come back and crash in a easy and relaxed space. I'd stay here again when visiting NYC.

My only issue with the stay was that the neighbors were noisy and but I appreciated that Kevin did warn about this ahead of time. I would suggest bringing earplugs just in case.
Jun 27, 2019The thing to remember about anything in life, is that you get what you pay for. Kevin's place is more than affordable for a stay in NYC. His home is very humble, but it was clean and tidy and Kevin was a very attentive and gracious host. It is important to note that the walls are very thin in the apartment so you will hear *everything,* and Kevin has a disabled neighbor who is active late at night. Just take earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, thank you Kevin!

Jun 27, 2019Kevin’s apartment was a small very well kept space. Kitchen area was open and clean but with all the food accessible nearby there wasn’t a need for cooking. This is a decent spot if you know what you are doing in the city and just coming here to sleep. If you are not use to a noisy residential, I will say that the neighbors were very noisy unfortunately. I wish there was coffee available to make in the morning but there was a Dunkin close by. Kevin was communicative and helpful to me at all times.

Jun 27, 2019Pros: Kevin was a nice host, willing to provide guidance as to where to travel/ sightsee and how to go about it. Lot of restaurants to eat nearby. Cons: Would like to note that the bed is actually an air mattress as opposed to a “real” bed. Also, there were individuals visibly smoking marijuana within the building and right next to our door, so this made me feel uncomfortable.

Public Transportation was simple, lyft found us with no problem, the bus drops you off a couple blocks up and the train station is right around the corner. Lots of restaurants and corner stores for great food and late night snacks. Overall I would recommend Kevin’s place if you are looking for clean, comfortable, speedy response and flexible check in. Kevin even text to see how things were going during our stay and he was very understanding and flexible with my check in.

Jun 27, 2019Kevin's East Harlem place is a cool 1 bedroom with bathroom, living room and kitchen. It is a 4 flight walk up to the apartment The amenities are good and you have use of the kitchen. He has Amazon Firestick instead of cable with use of the WiFi. AC and a standard box fan. The place is colorful and relaxing. Everything is working fashion. Fairly quiet and has a good selection of local and commercial foodie spots. Kevin was easy to communicate with prior to check in. He's a cool dude! Nice clean place for relaxing.

We felt very at home with his stockedI'm bookshelf, record player, and he even had a candle lit on the coffee table. The door was self lock so check out was merely leaving the key on the counter. We felt safe and extremely comfortable. Definitely recommend!

His spot was clean and had everything you would need. Very close to some night life and local eats. Staying in Harlem was cool and very Cultured. Jun 27, 2019I have always loved this part of East Harlem because I am a big fan of the food and the vibe here. Kevin was super cool and nice, being clear with how we would meet up and how to get into the building. This is a NYC apartment and the building is what it is but I grew part of my childhood in the Bronx, so it was like any other building I knew as a kid. The space is big for a one bedroom. It has enough space for 1-2 people and it got the job done for me. I wanted a place near my work and that was easy to get to from where I work. And Kevin was super cool.

Jun 27, 2019Kevin was great with the check in process. Apartment appeared the same as in the pictures. But my biggest issue was the inability to control the heater in the apartment. Apparently heat is controlled by the building. The apartment was unbearably hot, I had windows open in December and it was still terrible. I was unable to sleep because of the heat and lack of air movement. The walls are also very thin and some of the neighbors were very loud, setting off alarms in the middle of the night.

Jun 27, 2019Kevin's place is adequate for a one night stay - and is probably more appropriate for HEAVY sleepers and young people. Neither of which I am. I came for an overnight stay on a business trip - also the description says it is appropriate for business travelers, and it IS NOT. There are no business style amenities besides WiFi. There are no desks or even night stands to put and charge your phone. There were also a lof of personal items still visible. It was very clean, but had a lot of perfume smells, so if you are sensitive, beware. The main issue with this place is the noise. When I arrived Kevin told me that it was just "New York apartment noise and that his neighbors are deaf so they can be a little loud to communicate with each other." This was a FAR cry from the truth. The neighbors are OUT OF CONTROL LOUD!!! And have waaaay more issues than being deaf. I got in at 7 p.m. and almost immediately there were what sounded like physical flights, banging on the doors and walls both inside and in the hallways, shouting, screaming, loud music, running up and down the stairs until 7 a.m.!!!! It was like I was in the middle of a wrestling ring all night long! The walls are super thin and you can hear everything! It was like they were in the apartment. It was singularly the most horrible HORRIFIC sleeping experience of my life. You cannot get away from the noise, and it is VIOLENT and ABUSIVE. Only stay here if you can sleep like a baby on an airplane runway.
