Remember that we are in the old town of Barcelona. My building, like the vast majority here, does not have an elevator.
Transit
Being in the heart of the city, most of the time you will be walking, and in case you want to go to other points of interest of Barcelona farther from the center, you will not have any problem with the transport. You have very close Plaza de Cataluña, with metro, trains and buses; The Urquinaona metro station is still closer and, to take a taxi, in one minute, Via Laietana.

Una instancia muy céntrica en uno de estos edificios antiguos del Barri Gotic. No es poco haber conseguido estar en el centro de Barcelona en la misma semana del Mobile World Congress. Isabel es un encanto de anfitrión.

Jun 27, 2019Sheets weren't clean... Shower has very low water pressure. Room is only good for sleeping. It's in a good location but that's about it. Isabel could've provided more information about what's around the house during check in... Overall just decent enough to sleep

Amateurs de confort et décor "tendance" s'abstenir. Chez Isabel on se trouve dans une authentique ambiance d'artiste. Merci beaucoup, je garderai le souvenir de cet accueil lié aux souvenirs de Barcelone.
Jun 27, 2019Es un piso con mucho encanto, muy tranquilo y en un lugar inmejorable. La anfitriona, Isabel, es amable y facilitadora. El piso es una construcción antigua, lo que le da un ambiente genial pero también hace que el agua de la ducha salga con poquísima presión y sea un poco incómodo a veces. A parte de esto, si tuviese que poner alguna queja sería la hora del chekout, ya que las diez de la mañana me parece un poco pronto. En conjunto tuvimos una muy buena experiencia y repetiríamos sin duda.

Jun 27, 2019Isabel was a great host. She met me at the local bar where she worked and took me to her home a street away. The flight of stairs up to here place was a bit daunting but I can see why she lives up there.. It was beautiful! The room and whole place was clean, tidy and very welcoming. I saw Isabel twice, when I arrived and when I left, but it was perfect. The facilities were great. The pressure in the shower was weak but it didn't bother me one bit. It is a bit noisy being in the heart of the city, but I can imagine it would be anywhere in this area. It was lovely to have a balcony, and the location was very convenient. Thanks.x

Jun 27, 2019Isa is a very lovely, sensitive, artistic and gorgeous person. She is respectful of one's privacy but always ready to give support when asked upon. Be it in spoken or written form I always got my answers from her within no times. She also proofed to be very flexible in terms of arrival and departure times which I appreciated a great deal. If you are a fan of jazz music (like I am), make sure to double check ahead of time about her current concert dates so as not to miss your hostess on stage like I did (grumble ;-)). The room I occupied was the smaller one of two that Isabel rents out. So if her flat is fully rented out there can be a maximum of 4 guests plus your hostess in the flat, which can cause some bathroom jam, especially during the hot and humid summer times, when the need for a cool shower is inherent to everyone's desire. My room was as depicted. If you plan on using it for double occupancy, I recommend taking Isa's larger room (unless the two of you are very much in love and want to cuddle up close ;-)). Also, if you need a table for writing, ask for the larger room as well, which comes along with one. The flat itself is absolutely enchanting and furnished with love and an artistic eye to details. It's location is a dream for touristic explorations with anything within walking distance. Therefore, I can easily recommend both Isabel and her flat to anyone wishing to immerge himself into the local customs and get a good doze of what it is like "to live like a true Barcelonian". Jun 27, 2019The apartment is very centrally located, in the heart of the gothic part of the city and a couple of blocks from the Placa de Catalunya which makes transportation and sightseeing very easy. It's a 20 minute walk from the beach which is a plus. It's located in a very old building on the top floor, so it is rather stuffy and warm in the apartment. The room overlooks a very narrow street/alley so it's rather dark and it's easy to hear the noise coming from the street and the neighboring apartments. There are a few other rooms in the house that are being rented out, so other people will be staying in the house which makes it a necessity to lock the room when you leave the apartment. It's important to note that this place has a very strict check out time. On our last day, we had an evening flight but had to check out in the morning. When we asked if we could check out late, Isa told us to take our stuff to the train station and use the lockers there, but the train station does not have lockers. We ended up renting a locker at a place called "Barcelona lockers". That, I would say changed all the plans for the last day.
Jun 27, 2019I was happy to experience Isabels home as described here. It was spacious, bright and original, with lovely colours and beautiful artwork surrounding me in every room. Isabel is a creative, sensitive and respectful person, with an open mind- yet she has the necessary boundaries that are required to organize an environment where so many different people are going to stay and hopefully enjoy. The street itself is very lively, but the noises didn't bother me at all as i could easily block them out with earplugs. The location could not have been more sentral, still it's on "the right side" of the Rambla, where you can find more independent shops, restaurants, cafes and bars compared to the same leveled streets towards Raval. It is an old and very charming building, so if you want an minimalistic experience with cold, stainless steel and elevators this is not the place for you! And perhaps you are not the right person for this place either ;) I had to leave earlier due to illness, and was so sorry i couldn't stay throughout the whole month as planned. Hope to be seeing Isabel and her welcoming surroundings again one day
Jun 27, 2019Isabel was an amazing host. She is incredible and super considerate. The apartment was by no means the best location in Barcelona, I walked everywhere and never needed a map or a taxi. Arriving late at night was always fine and there was never any disturbing street noise. The block is super cute with awesome little shops that are open during the day. Best neighborhood to be in and incredible city ! Muchísima gracias Isabel, estas invitada a visitar Los Ángeles, todo fue increíble !❤️

Isabel was friendly and helpful but left us to our own devices to experience the city for ourselves. Can be a little noisy because of the location, however, Isabel was kind enough to leave each of us ear plugs which worked perfectly. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Jun 27, 2019Un appartemment authenthique avec beaucoup de cachet, beaucoup de "soul". J'ai pu me rendre à pied partout où je le désirais (ou presque). Isabel était très gentille et met tout ce dont ses invités ont besoin à disposition. 3 choses à considérer: la rue est assez bruyante, certaines fois pendant la nuit, et le matelas est plutôt rudimentaire, mais ce n'est pas un hôtel non plus... Aussi il faut savoir qu'il y a deux chambres à louer dans l'appartement, vous ne risquez pas d'avoir l'endroit à vous seul en l'absence de l'hôtesse. Cela dit, je recommande sans hésiter. Jun 27, 2019Isabel's place is very nice. I stayed for 9 nights. What a great value. It is located at the heart of Barcelona. It is very close the El born and the Gothic neighborhood. In fact, i walked to my favorite tapa restaurant in just 6 minutes. Everything is within walking distance. If u want to have a local experience, this is a great place to be. The flat is nice and clean and very cozy. Isabel is very helpful if you have any question. Thank you Isabel. I had a wonderful times in Barcelona. I will definitely come back.

Jun 27, 2019Stayed at Isabel's place for a week and it was wonderful! Bed was comfy and the room was clean. Lovely little balcony too and in an incredible location. Isabel was a great host and came to meet us to give us the keys, she also helped us with directions to the apartment. She has a beautiful home and was very welcoming to us. Would love to visit her again and I cannot recommend her any higher!

Jun 27, 2019Lovely place in the okd town, nice and central. Walking distance from the bus station. Walkkng disance from the beach. Lovely nightlife and local shops in the area. Isabels flat is very homely and the decor is amazing. She provided a list of recommended restaurants and was happy to give information when asked.

The apartment is beautifully decorated, and the room I stayed in was comfortable and clean. Isabel was a nice and responsive host - overall, definitely recommended! :)

I was traveling during hot summer of Barcelona; the room can get pretty hot! She also has 2 rooms to rent in the flat. Old building, 3rd (5th??) floor, I guess this is also what is charming about old Barcelona ! I would recommend her place !!

Jun 27, 2019The place is beautiful and the location is great. Also isabel has experience in hosting- she left us a list of restaurants and had an organized room ready. It should be noted,however, the place is "on the third floor" but really you have to walk up 5 floors, about 70-80 steps. Also, there is no air conditioning (there is a fan). Also, there is only one shower and bathroom for 5 people (isabel and 4 guests). Also, the water pressure is extremely low in the shower. The combination of the long climb up, no AC, and weird shower is pretty difficult in the summer. Otherwise there was no issue.

Jun 27, 2019It's a great place by nicely located in the middle of Barcelona. Very convenient to get to the metro or walk to a lot of nearby sightseeing spots and restaurants. It is secluded, which I liked. It's on a small alley way that doesn't get much, if any car traffic. It's quiet at night, but during the day you can hear pedestrian commotion from off the street, and from neighbors in the stairwell, but it didn't bother me, and it was not an issue at night. All in all, I would definitely recommend.

Although I didn't use it much (did my homework before traveling), it could be pretty useful if you do not know what to do. The flat is located in the heart of the city. It is close to everything. As an example, I walked all the time.

Jun 27, 2019El departamento está muy bien ubicado, muy cerca de la avenida principal que conecta con todas las vías. Cabe resaltar que sí es muy pequeño, el baño y la habitación, tomar en cuenta que hay que subir muchas escaleras.

Jun 27, 2019As others have pointed out, this place could be chosen just for the location. It's a 10 minute walk from Plaza Catalunya Bus station and all the places can be seen by walk. The building is an old architectural piece, while it has good amenities. It's a steep climb to the top, hence would recommend for those with light luggage or people who love to do some steps. Isabel is nice and friendly.

Jun 27, 2019L'appartement d'Isabel est très bien situé - la rue est tranquille, un peu bruyante du à l'écho (petites rues étroites!) mais avec des bouchons j'ai dormi sur mes deux oreilles. Petite chambre très mignonne. Je recommande grandement cette chambre (ou l'autre chambre car Isabel en loue deux) si vous désirez vivre dans un authentique building durant votre séjour. Isabel est très accessible et tout s'est bien déroulé.

Isabel ist eine super Gastgeberin und hat uns herzlich empfangen. Wir fühlten uns rund um wohl bei ihr. Kommen gerne wieder!

No hay nada que envidiarle a un hotel, teniendo todas las comodidades necesarias y una ubicación inmejorable en el Centro de la ciudad. El Piso esta a metros del hermoso Palau de la Música y para los que están pensando en que quisas es muy ruidoso, se equivocan, pues se duerme muy bien incluso a pesar de que las habitaciones dan hacia la calle. Totalmente recomendable...

Jun 27, 2019Isabel's home is the perfect and central place to stay in Barcelona. I was so close to the Gothic Quarter, El Born, Casa Batllo and so much more. I visited La Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Barceloneta and walked a lot through the streets of Barcelona. I walked to all of those places from Isabel's house and it was all doable! Isabel is so friendly and very quick with responses. She also gave some great recommendations on local spots to eat/drink. Her apartment is so unique and such a lovely place, also very clean! At night it was not too nosy and I never felt unsafe. Thank you for a great stay and I will definitely be staying here again if I visit Barcelona again!

Jun 27, 2019Overall, I would say our experience was ok. Not hugely disappointed, not super happy. Location is amazing, space is well decorated , there were lovely Lillies in the kitchen. But although response to messages were always prompt, never that extra, friendly, caring touch. When I choose accommodation where I share space with the host, I choose mostly by whether I’d like to get to know this person or not. Isabel sounded very interesting, so I was looking forward to meeting her. As it turns out, she seemed pretty reluctant to interact. It felt like we were intruding on her space for the most part. For example, when she emerged from her room at 12pm, I asked her “how are you today?” Her response was “I don’t know yet.” End of conversation. Which is fine. Again, she was never rude. Just a little closed. Bed was comfortable. Not really enough space to put things away. A little grimy. Place needs a good deep clean. In the end, she seemed to connect a little with my adult daughter who stayed with me which I was glad for. I am reluctant to recommend this place based on my experience. Yours might be different. You’ll love the location I’m sure. Although it comes up for a cheap price on Airbnb, in the end because she charges extra for a second person and the cleaning fee is high , it was $130 cdn a night. Which is too much for this place.

Isabel was friendly and very quick to respond to my request and any messages. She was much better than other hosts in this regard.
Jun 27, 2019Viene con todo lo que dice en la descripción del hogar, la ubicación está en un vecindario muy central y cercas de muchas de las atracciones, y Isabel fue muy amable con nosotros! Lo único que le faltaba al cuarto era una cortina en la ventana para tener más privacidad (por eso de la construcción) pero en sí el cuarto es muy espacioso y la cama cómoda. Gracias Isabel!
Jun 27, 2019A lovely apartment in a great location. Take in consideration there are more than 70 stairs to climb (which was pretty hard after long walks and charring suitcases). The balcony was taken off due to building renovations, which was pretty surprising as the workers could step into the room with no problem and mornings where noisy. When I complained about my privacy and security (I had to drees in the hallway and lock the balcony door - with no A/C), Isabel illustrated a curtain to the balcony door.
Jun 27, 2019L’appartement est idéalement situé au début du quartier gothique et à deux pas de la Casa Musica. L’appartement possède une ambiance singulière : pas de meuble IKEA... c’est très agréable ! Cependant chambre reste très sommaire : un matelas posé sur des palettes. Pas de bureau. Pas assez de prises de courant. Les toilettes et la salle de bain sont très petits et partagés. La ruelle est très bruyante, ne pas oublier les bouchons d’oreille !
Jun 27, 2019Freundlich, schöne Wohnung, allerdings fehlt ein funktionierender Ventilator und Gemeinschaftsräume leider nicht nutzbar. Der Rest war toll, sauberes Bad und sehr gute Kommunikation.
Jun 27, 2019Die Wohnung liegt in einer Toplage. Als ich ankam gab es leider ein Problem mit der Telefonnummer, der ich geantwortet habe und so konnte ich Isabel bei meiner Ankunft nicht erreichen. Ich konnte erst 5 Stunden später in die Unterkunft. Habe daraus gelernt, nur noch über die App zu kommunizieren. Das Bad ist für eine Person über 1,80 eventuell zu klein. Und im Sommer kann es recht heiß und stickig werden, trotz des schönen alten Steinbodens und der hohen Decken. Die Wohnung ist sehr schön und sehr authentisch eingerichtet. Es gibt keinen Aufzug und man muss das Gepäck in den 3 Stock eine schmale Treppe hochtragen. Es war eine schöne Zeit - dank an Isabel und ihren Freund, beide wohnen in der Wohnung .
Jun 27, 2019Isabel’s place was delightful. Her home is incredibly decorative and has a home-like sense to it. The location is great, it’s very close and walkable to the center and Las Ramblas but the street itself is not very noisy which was perfect! She is an incredible kind and understanding host and I appreciated her hospitality much.

Jun 27, 2019Isabel is a great host. Place is located in the center so it's near almost every touristic places. Room is pretty spacious and cosy. But I was there in august, the weather was hot and in room was awfully stuffy — blower didn't help at all. And there were workers outside the window on the scaffolding.

Jun 27, 2019Allgemein zu teuer.. auf den Fotos sieht es ordentlich und sauber aus, nicht aber in Wirklichkeit. Das Zimmer eindeutig zu klein, unpraktisch Sachen zu verstauen, Balkontür lässt sich aufgrund des fix angebrachten Tuches nicht richtig öffnen... Harte Matratze auf Paletten, extrem einfach möbliert. Türe mit Spalt zu anderem Gästezimmer, dadurch kaum Intimsphäre.. Isabel gab einem das Gefühl nicht als Gast Willkommen zu sein.. suchte lange die Einganstüre.. dabei hätte sie aufmachen können, da sie wusste, dass ich im Gang war. Isabel ist wohl offenherzig abhängig von der Sympathie gegenüber dem Gast. Sie hat jedoch volles Vertrauen all ihre privaten coolen alten Sachen stehen zu lassen. Lage ist prima. Dusche klein, jedoch alles mit unsauberen Sachen überstellt. Alles wäre etwas anders akzeptabel bei einem herzlichen Willkommen.
Jun 27, 2019I had such s relaxing time with Isabel! She is friendly, funny and helpful. Most importantly, super easy to interact with. We were joking about all kinds of things when sharing a cup of tea in the morning and exchanging our travel photos after that. Her place is also very stylish, unique and the building is really really cool. The Location? Can’t be better!

Jun 27, 2019It’s a perfect place for a vacation or a longer stay. It’s in the center of Barcelona which means it’s close to wherever you wanna go. Apart from that, Isabel was really helpful and easygoing. She would provide everything needed. It made me feel at home.

Jun 27, 2019If you are a budget traveler in town for leisure visit, this might be good place to stay. It’s very centrally located, close to plenty of shops and restaurant and metro. I was in town for a conference, and unfortunately, the first two nights, there were some rowdy people in the street late, late at night and I woke up several times. So for a work trip, the location is not so great (I stayed in a different, more quiet neighborhood last time). The other nights were just fine. There are two bedrooms for rent, and I recommend the second one. The one I rented was right by the door and hallway and you can hear everything, and everyone walking up and down. (Thin walls are common to Barcelona). I think the other bedroom may be more insulated. That said, I am a light sleeper and was there for work, so I had to go to bed at a decent time. The rest of the apartment is nicely decorated.
Jun 27, 2019Isabel is a really nice and friendly host. The room is at a great location down right in the middle of the city center. The room is quite small though and more suitable for a solo traveler looking for a place for one or two nights, than for a couple.
Jul 27, 2019Really enjoyed my time at Isabel’s! Right in the heart of the gothic quarter and easy walking distance to everything else in Barcelona. Definitely try Casa Lolea and Nomad coffee just up the street.

Jun 27, 2019We stayed there 5 days and we were satisfied. Our room has bigsized bad, balcony and commode. Flat is very good situated very close to Catalunya square arc the Triomf and many others popular places. Urquinaona metro station is over one minute walk. Access to flat is from blind street (no cars) so at night is as quiet as usual. Isabel is very kind person and she was ready to help us with all our issues. Bathroom has big boiler with enough hot water for two and more people. If you are looking for quiet accommodation with good position you just find it :)
Jun 27, 2019This is a great location. it's very close to everything, buses are just around the corner and very easy to used. The Gothic square us within walking distance. I had a great time. Isabel is very nice and is always in communication with you.
