Our Home Our home is a classic Brooklyn brownstone with traditional detail but a modern renovation to give it a light and open feeling. An open living room, dining room and very modern kitchen makes up the 1st floor. Out the back door and down a stairway from the ground floor, you will find our beautiful back garden filled with herbs, flowers, and vegetables. The master bedroom, study/guest bedroom, walk-in closet, and master bathroom make up the second floor. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and nice views to the backyard. The master bathroom has a beautiful pebble-floored, two-headed shower, and matching modern sinks. The study/guest bedroom has a queen bed. There is a heavy curtain separating the two bedrooms on this floor rather than a door so there is visual privacy but less sound separation. Neighborhood Overview
Fort Greene is one of the classic brownstone neighborhoods of Brooklyn, brimming with the energy of New York City. Our house is one block from the world famous performance space Brooklyn Academy of Music and two blocks from the Frederick Law Olmsted-designed Fort Greene Park where you'll find a weekly farmer's market, a regular pickup soccer match, outdoor musical performances, tennis courts, playgrounds, and families picnicking. Along Fulton and DeKalb streets, you'll find restaurants with Manhattan-quality food but Brooklyn prices. Only 1 stop from Chinatown and 2 stops from Union Square on the Q train, you can easily spend your days touring busy Manhattan and retreat to our quiet, lovely house and garden for a more relaxed experience. We love our house and our neighborhood and know that you will too.
Notes
Downstairs Tenants – We have a rental apartment on the bottom floor underneath our house with a long-term tenant who also serves as our house manager. As of July 1st, after surveying our guests, we no longer offer cable television. We do have great Wi-Fi (see instructions for network and password) so you can still stream your favorite media.
Transit
The great thing about Fort Greene is it has amazing subway access. We are a 5-minute walk to the following lines: Q,B,G,A,C, 2,3,5,6 which means you can get to any part of Manhattan easily.

We stayed here for 14 days in August 2013. When we arrived we immediately felt at home. The house is very spacious and cosy, with all modern comfort. It is located in a quiet street in a very nice and lively neighbourhood with plenty of good restaurants. It is very conveniently situated close to the most important subway lines. In short, we were very happy to have booked this place !
Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed our stay in Jon's home for 10 days during August 2013. It was a very clean, well kept, spacious, and beautiful 3 floor townhouse. It was definitely worth staying there given that sometimes we needed to accomodate more people, and have a nice space for visitors to come over. Jon was out of town, but he was quite responsive to my emails.
Jun 27, 2019Jons und Lisas sehr schönes und gemütliches Brownstonehouse liegt in Fort Greene in Brooklyn. Wir mochten die Umgebung sehr und haben die vielen kleinen Cafes und die tollen Restaurants sehr genossen. Vor allem WALTERS in der Dekalb Ave. Im Haus in der St Felix Street haben wir uns von der ersten Sekunde an wohl gefühlt und haben unsere Wahl in den neun Tagen unseres Aufenthalts kein einziges mal bereut. Jon hat uns im Vorfeld sehr viele gute Tips die Gegend betreffend gegeben und hat uns den Schlüssel sogar per FedEx nach Berlin geschickt. Im Haus selber ist genug Platz, wenn man zu viert anreist hat jeder ein eigenes Schlafzimmer, es ist aufgeräumt und sauber, das Internet funktioniert einwandfrei und in der Küche macht es großen Spaß zu kochen... all thumbs up!!!
Jun 27, 2019We had a really nice stay in Jon and Lisa's house in Ft Greene (Brooklyn) during the Spring holidays, April 2014 The house is spacious (we were 7 adults) and nicely decorated. You feel as if you were staying in a friend's house, that's really enjoyable While being a bit away from the busiest and noisiest places in New York, the house is well located as the numerous subway lines can take you to any place in Manhattan or other places in New York quite fast. We just had a short chat with Lisa as we were leaving and she was just arriving, she is a really nice person. I can recommend the place quite warmly. Pierre B , from Belgium
Jun 27, 2019We needed a house for the summer while we renovated our nearby house. Jon's house was perfect. Jon was a great host, very helpful and great communicator. The house was perfect for our family, lots of toys and kids books. Everything in the house is exactly as the listing, all the rooms are good size, lots of light and with A/C. We had a great time and would definitely recommend the house to anyone else.
Jun 27, 2019The neighborhood is truly amazing! The restaurants and parks in Fort Greene are really great. Jon is super-helpful, very friendly, and always available to answer a question. The house is perfect for a family with kids. They have an amazing collection of books, games, and toys. Great living room/dining area. There is a little bit of construction nearby, but it didn't really bother us. We loved our stay here and would definitely return in a heartbeat!

The location is wonderful, near restaurants, subways, and shopping. We will cherish the memories we made while staying there. We would definitely stay there again. Jun 27, 2019We secured the property way before the arrival date as we thought it was a perfect match to our needs - a large group of adults and three kids - , and the property stayed to our expectations, in fact I would say exceed them probably a bit. The pictures were very accurate, so they were no surprises there. This part of Brooklyn is what New York is all about, a real mix, I would recommend it to anyone that is deciding between staying in Manhattan or elsewhere outside the big apple. Jon has been very responsive throughout the period we secure the property. Even when his oven stopped working - which was a big deal for us - he told us in advance and managed to secure an alternative, which we finally decided not to use (hope that's ok Jon). My only comment that I think could improve anyone's stay in the future is a mini map of the house pointing to where the basics are, what to use and what not to. It is almost self intuitive, but for someone that was using the service for the first time, I had lots of questions at the very beginning. Can I use this?, do you mind if we eat that?, in any case as I said Jon was always very responsive despite being away in the busiest annual holiday of the year.

Jun 27, 2019We had a wonderful stay at Jon and Lisa's house. It's a perfect family home, in a fantastic neighbourhood with very easy links to Manhattan. We travelled with our young son, and loved being able to enjoy Jon and Lisa's very spacious, well equipped and clean home, which also has a great garden. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and green spaces all within walking distance. Jon and Lisa were great hosts and provided all the information we needed. Check-in and out was very easy. We would definitely recommend staying here.
Jun 27, 2019Perfect house for our family and friends. We stayed there for Labor Day weekend and couldn't have made a better choice. The backyard is great for barbecues and the house is not only charming but also completely set up for anything you might need. Rooms are spacious and the bathrooms look brand new! The neighborhood is awesome, too. Fort Greene Park is really close and you can find great food on a walking distance. Would definitely come back.
Jun 27, 2019I stayed at Jon's house with three colleagues for 5 days on a work trip. The house is very comfortable and clean, and being able to use the outside space as well is a real luxury. We all felt at home and had a much more enjoyable stay than we would have had in a Manhattan hotel!

Jun 27, 2019Everything was as presented and as expected. We found the subways to be very close, affordable, and quick method of transportation. Neat delis and restaurants nearby. We had three adults, two teenagers and two children and found the home to be very roomy and adequate for our group. Having the washer and dryer available proved to be a welcomed item. We will definitely consider staying there again when in New York.

Jun 27, 2019Jon's house was a great spot to stay with our family. More than enough room and the comforts of home. It is very centrally located and convenient to the subways and a short walk to shops and restaurants of Fort Greene. It is close to downtown Brooklyn where there is a lot of construction activity and less quiet that the blocks further from Flatbush. The arrangements were easy and the access simple. Jon was quick to respond to questions and the house clearly has been very thoughtfully prepared for guests with everything you will need. Highly recommend this for exploring multiple great Brooklyn neighborhoods or Manhattan.

I commuted into Manhattan with ease every day. Communication and check-in with Jon couldn't have been any more mellow and convenient. The house itself had every amenity possible with comfort and ease. Looking forward to the possibility of staying again.
Jun 27, 2019Super well located. It was an excellent experience for us to "live" in Brooklyn for 10 days! The house is close to metro stations and you can basically go everywhere from there! The house had everything for a family to spend 10 day-vacation: from kitchen supplies to hair drier, closets, washing machine, etc. Just perfect. Although it is located almost on the corner of a big avenue, it is a very quiet place. The garden on the back made our breakfast very special during our stay! John was super friendly and answered promptly to all my emails. We had no issues with the house. Everything worked properly. The photos are super "faithful" to the reality. You will really like the house! Just for information, we were a family of four and there was even a room that we did not need to use. Plenty of room in the house. Ah, internet Wi-Fi was super good!
Jun 27, 2019I lived in Fort Greene for 2 years, so I already knew it was a great area with all the train access you could possibly need. I stayed at Jon's place for 3 nights with 4 friends as we were attending a wedding in Park Slope. I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious house that Jon provided with a huge back garden for New York standards. Having lived in New York, I can safely say that this house was great value for money. The inside was clean and i loved the decor. It is clearly a well loved house. No complaints at all.

Die Klimaanlagen , die überall sind, funktionieren hervorragent, sowie das Wifi . Alles war sauber und funktionell. Preis , Leistung hat zu 100% gestimmt. Wir würden Jon's Haus wieder jederzeit beanspruchen.

Jun 27, 2019The apartment is nearby and within walking distance to the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge and the excellent new Alamo Drafthouse on Albee Square. It's three floors and beautifully decked out, with Air conditioning if you need it and a large kitchen and dining room. The owners are kind and flexible and let us check-in early when we arrived earlier than planned in the city. Definitely recommended for business trips or trips for conferences/events.

Jun 27, 2019This home is in a brilliant location and the house is comfortable, spacious and with quirky, interesting works of art on display. The main bathroom had a great shower and there was lots of closet space. Our family of five found great places to eat locally and getting around was straightforward. We enjoyed staying 'off' Manhattan and would return to this area again.

Jun 27, 2019This home is in the perfect place for access to Brooklyn and New York. The home is stylish with lots of room for everyone. The kitchen and bathrooms have everything you will need for your stay. One helpful hint is that the home does not have cable so make sure to bring your device for Netflix, Hulu, etc. Overall, the stay was great and I would recommend it.
Jun 27, 2019We had a great time here. It was perfect for my family, the top floor bedrooms were incredibly kid friendly and even equipped with an electric piano which my son loved playing. We enjoyed the master suite and the double shower was awesome. The master bedroom was quiet and not much city noise got through the windows. The place was nicely decorated and colorful. The location was spot on and very close to the subway.

Jun 27, 2019This turned out to be a great location for myself and my family travelling from the UK. Once we got to grips with the Metro and the location we soon relaxed into our stay. Jon's is a great host and very responsive to emails with some top tips. Great local restaurants and roof top bars mean there is no need to go back into Manhattan after a long day sight seeing. Recommend it.

Jul 27, 2019I may repeat what some others have already mentioned, but it's worth mentioning again! We arrived a couple hours early and were able to check-in. This was helpful since we had our bags with us. It might not always be an option due to cleaning, but it worked out well for us. The place was clean upon arrival. The photos and directions were just as they were in the listing. It was very easy to find once we exited the subway. Several subway stops nearby was very helpful since we were visiting different areas of the city. We were here for the NYC marathon. 3 of us were running and 3 were cheering. It's right near the 8 mile mark, so that was easy for the fans. It was also easy for us to take 1 subway to the Staten Island Ferry in Manhattan to get to the start of the marathon. There were 6 of us and there was plenty of room. Kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pans etc. There was also plenty of towels and soap for the bathrooms. We didn't use the backyard, but it is a nice space to have. There were all adults in our group, but it would accommodate families with children as well. The area has plenty of nice restaurants and shops nearby. Communication with Jon was easy and he always responded quickly. I would recommend his place to anyone!

Jun 27, 2019We had a great experience staying at Jon's place. The home was both pretty and spacious enough for our larger group. It's also in a perfect location and afforded us with a great home base to use as we visited friends, restaurants, and other sites around Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Jun 27, 2019I stayed with Jon during a Christmas reunion with my family (one couple from Seattle, one from Texas, and my wife and I visiting from Amsterdam). First, Jon's house is in an excellent location- there is plenty to do within walking distance (grocery stores, restaurants, and even the Barclay's center), plus the connection to public transport is outstanding- there are a few stops within a 5-10min walk, leaving you with tons of local / express train options. We traveled to Manhattan every day and never spent more than 30min on the train. Additionally, the house is huge and never felt small with six of us there. The kitchen is big enouch to cook a modest meal, and the dining / living rooms are perfect places for larger groups to reconnect after a day of activities. There's also two full bathrooms, so just a tiny bit of planning prevents any bathroom scheduling conflics. The main thing that keeps this from being a perfect rental is the sleeping arrangements- there is really only one real bed suitable for two people. There's a second queen bed in the listing that can accommodate two people, but it's only a sofa-bed in the 2nd floor study (separated from the main bedroom by a curtain). The 3rd and 4th bedrooms on the 3rd floor have twin beds which, though more comfortable than the sofa-bed, will always feel like two separate beds even when pushed together. Families or groups with people desiring individual beds will be fine here (the top two bedrooms would be perfect for a few kids or friends bunking together to save money), but you if your party has more than one couple, you might consider other options. All things considered, this property is a pretty good value- it's a huge place that can accommodate many people, and it's in a perfect location. However, if I were to return for a similar trip, I'd only consider a return visit if at least one more queen+ bed was added.

Jun 27, 2019The house is SPACIOUS and PERFECTLY LOCATED (walking distance to the B and 4-5 lines which take you all over Manhattan in a few minutes... and more lines). Fort Greene is a also a great neighborhood itself with lots of shopping options, the park and the BAM. The house itself is very nice, arranged over three floors with a large yard on a quite street. Check in was completely painless and Jon was super responsive when we had an issue with internet. Overall it's a great house and a unique experience to pretend to live in such a coveted neighborhood. However, I ended up paying about 800 per nigh because it was the holiday season and I am going to write a review based on this price. There are a few things that COULD BE IMPROVED though. First, I somehow convinced that this would be a house in which Jon lives but this is not his primary residence. As a result, the house feels like a rental with older furniture and rather empty (plates and most cups are made of plastic for example, and I doubt anyone would live like that). Apart from salt and a few spices, it was hard to find something to cook with so we had to buy pretty much everything to make French Toasts in the morning for the kids. It would have even nice to find sugar or syrup for example. Other than that, the kitchen is rather well equipped with pans and a nice gas range. Finally, my main sore point is about comfort. Were were two adult couples and two young kids. Kids slept very well and had basically all of the third floor for themselves, including a private bath with a tub. This was great!! The master bedroom was spacious and quiet and the bed was ok. However, the second bedroom was not so comfortable and rather small. Two nights were probably the most we could take in it. The bathroom is great though: excellent water pressure, hot water for everyone. Also, as we were about to check in, Jon let us know that the washer was broken. This was of course not a problem but I believe that it had prevented the cleaning person to wash the linens, which smelled like someone else had slept in them. The towels also smelled moldy. It's pretty clear that all were thrown in the dryer without a wash and I would have preferred if we were told about this.

We really got the sense that we were experiencing Brooklyn from the inside. Communication with Jon was first class. He gave us plenty of information and assistance and was very accommodating and flexible.

Jun 27, 2019Location is fab at this 3 story brownstone in fort green. So so convienient to subway and walking distance to adorable neighborhoods w charm, BAM, Barclays, fort greene park, etc etc. Jon is so on top of communication, getting in and enjoying right away was easy. Biggest downside is that there is no privacy for the master bedroom. As the head of household and presumably the one paying the bill, you will need to cozy up in a twin bed on the third floor w no lock. This may not be an issue for some, but for a pricey 5 night stay, I was dissapointed. Other than that, highly recommended.

It was my mum and dad’s first Airbnb experience and they absolutely loved it. It’s a lovely and very family friendly house in a great neighbourhood, close to lots of subway stations so it’s very easy to get around town. Jon was a perfect host - when we had an issue checking in/accessing the house, Jon was very quick to respond and we were sorted and inside in no time. He also arranged for us to have a pack n play for the baby to sleep in, which meant we didn’t have to bring a fold up crib with us from the UK. The house is stocked with all the basics you need, and is close to some great local shops as well as a big Wholefoods. We would love to stay here again and would recommend Jon’s house to families and groups of people any time. Thanks for everything!

Jun 27, 2019Nous avons passés un très bon séjour dans cette maison !!! La maison: elle est spacieuse et fonctionnelle. Disposant de deux vastes chambres avec lits doubles au premier étage et de deux chambres supplémentaires plus petites au second étage, avec deux lits simple chacune. Les salles de bains sont pratiques. La cuisine est bien équipée. La terrasse, bien que non éclairée, est fort agréable pour profiter d'un moment au frais lors du petit déjeuner ou en fin de journée. La localisation: la maison est située à proximité de plusieurs stations de métro proposant une multitude de lignes disponibles - que ce soit pour se déplacer dans Brooklyn, ou aller sur Manathan. Les commerces sont nombreux: Whole Food Market, petites commerces type épiceries à deux pas, un magasin de vins et spiritueux au coin de la rue pour découvrir quelques vins locaux, de nombreux restaurant proposant toute sorte de cuisine avec possibilité de plats à emporter.... Et le quartier ayant de nombreuses écoles, l'ambiance et jeune et sûre.
Jun 27, 2019Great place! Huge and awesome for groups. Jon uses a digital app system for keys which was a bit tricky at first but easy to use once we got the hang of it. There is no A/C upstairs in the bedrooms but it was cool enough for us!
Jun 27, 2019This is just a great place. Lots of room, lots of beds, nice and very communicative hosts. Close to subway stops and some really fun neighborhoods for eating and drinking - went to Park Slope are on foot a few times. Getting into Manhattan is also a breeze. Highly recommend.

Jun 27, 2019Very nice and authentic townhouse in Brooklyn. Clean and charming. Wooden floors and high ceiling. It was nice to have coffee and tea and other basics already in the fridge upon arrival. Conveniently located nearby subway stations and grocery's. 10 minutes to Manhattan. We were a family of 5 (3 grown up teenagers) and very comfortable there.
Jun 27, 2019Jon's place was the perfect spot for our group. It looked just like the pictures and was very clean. We enjoyed spending time and grilling in the backyard and it was so quiet that we almost forgot that we were in the city. We loved the location as well. The only complaint we had was in regards to the beds and pillows. A couple of the mattresses were extremely firm, almost to the point of being rock hard. Also, every pillow in the house was flat as a pancake. Overall, we would recommend Jon's place, but the mattresses need to be upgraded and pillows replaced.

Jun 27, 2019We were traveling to Brooklyn for an event at the Barclay Center and couldn't have had a better location. We could walk there in 5 minutes. The place was spacious and decorated in a lovely mid-century modern style. What we appreciated most was that Jon was very flexible and accomodating with us through a bad airline experience that got us into Brooklyn in the middle of the night (luckily you can let yourself into the apartment). Our delayed luggage wasn't arriving until after we were scheduled to leave, and Jon allowed us to stay a little longer to receive our luggage. He answered texts promptly and was very courteous at every step.

The extra details were greatly appreciated and we would recommend this place for big parties looking for a nice space in Brooklyn.

Jun 27, 2019Fab and funky house in great location in Brooklyn. Felt like a really safe area, super close to lots of subway stations making it really easy to get into Manhattan and around Brooklyn. Very close, 3 minute walk, to a fab Wholefoods 365, love that shop ! and also some really fab local restaurants, great brunch at Cafe Paulette round the corner. House is a great space for a big group, with 4 bedrooms, so worked really well for our 2 families who were in Brooklyn for a wedding. Main bedroom at back of house is lovely and master shower good too. Lots of closet space and great to have laundry room. Felt very safe in the house, very secure locks etc. Some bits of house could do with a bit of TLC, but it is a great space for a big group to all be together on a trip to NYC.

Jun 27, 2019Would stay again in Jon’s family home in a heartbeat! We loved living life in Brooklyn. Great street in a great location for local shops/ restaurants/ takeout and only minutes walk to Subway stations (Atlantic Station being the main one) The B line subway takes you directly into Manhattan in under 20 minutes and services are frequent. We navigated the subway with our 4 children and managed! The 4 bedroom/ 3 level brownstone home is stylish, spacious and very comfortable. We never felt cramped as a family of 6 even once. The local area felt safe and friendly. Jon provides a pack and play porta cot and even went out and purchased a stroller for us to use during our stay so we had a spare one for our 3 year old who wouldn’t cope with all the walking in NY. This was incredibly thoughtful and generous of the host so we could avoid expensive hire charges and having to wait in for a hire stroller to be delivered. Highly recommend Jon’s house for families looking to live like a local for a few days. Brooklyn is a great place and I’d stay there again in future and use it as a base to explore both Brooklyn and all the tourist attractions in Manhattan - beats a hotel room any day. Jun 27, 2019We stayed there with two children under 10 and 4 adults. It was absolutely perfect. Lots of room. Very relaxing and quiet place all over the house. Our favorite was hanging out in the living room and chatting while our youngest son played with a big box of magnet tiles that is left at the house. Enjoyed being able to walk to Whole Foods. Park and playground walking distance. The kitchen has all the basics for cooking. We mostly made breakfast and found everything we needed including sugar, tea and coffee. There are plates and cups for little kids to use. We would definitely come back again!

The door lock system is really practical, the location is closed to subway lines in a nice area of Brooklyn, photos are conformed to reality, kitchen is well equipped, rooms are big and bathrooms are in order and clean. We happily recommend this appartment to anyone.

Jun 27, 2019This is a fabulous apartment! It’s huge and beautifully appointed. It’s also comfortable and the bathrooms are fantastic! The location is great too. There are many wonderful restaurants and bars very close. The beautiful Ft. Greene Park is a block away. We hope to stay here again and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Jun 27, 2019Jon’s house was perfect. Exactly what is advertised. The space is huge and feels like a home. So many great shops nearby and a whole foods. Easy to get in and out of Manhattan. Parking is a bit of a pain, but it’s a city! We drove around for a bit and found a spot up the block. Not bad at all! There are also tons of parking garages if you don’t mind paying. The beds were comfy. Jon supplied all of the linens, toilet paper, shower supplies, and even items in the kitchen. I would highly recommend staying in this house. It’s a clean and safe neighborhood and the space is HUGE for the price. Would definitely stay with Jon again!
