Really beautiful apartment with stunning views of the city. The place was immaculate, brand new, felt barely touched. Loved being by the water. We were only a few blocks from the L train, which is one stop from the city making it pretty convenient - though we ended up cabbing it most of the time. Willy, the host, was great, very easy to communicate with and everything was super smooth. No complaints. Hope to stay there again sometime. If you are a TV junky, do be aware there isn't one in the apartment, but we spied one in the common area you may be able to take advantage of. Overall, 5 stars without a doubt!

The location could not have been better... contrast the quietness of this East River highrise and then, within a few minutes walk to the subway, we were in Manhattan!! The view from the 14th floor was magnificent. The place was neat and clean, fresh and new. State of the art modern minimalism. The door men were very nice and welcoming.

Jun 27, 2019I would highly recommend all those reading this review to book this apartment. My girlfriend and I had a fantastic stay in Willy's apartment and we wish we could return. We booked this place almost last minute as I had to move to New York to start a job and look at apartments. We're glad we went with this one. It is half a block away from the R and only a few blocks from basically every other subway line worth having in Brooklyn. We could be in Manhattan in a minute's notice. It is only a few blocks away from Montague St, the short shopping street in the middle of Brooklyn Heights, and a little farther away from Court St, the main shopping street this side of the Gowanus Canal. In short, the location is ideal. Don't pass this place up. The apartment itself is spacious and light. The main room/bed room has two windows on three of its four walls and is constantly filled with light. The girl who lives there is a photographer, and it is obvious that she cares about the quality of the light in the room. To top it off, the apartment is appropriately accented with a few mirrors, which brightens the space even more. The bed, with its foam and vinyl mattress, is an absolute pleasure to sleep on. Those who come to New York fearing about grime and pests need not be afraid of this apartment. It is kept immaculately clean, and we stayed there ten days without seeing even a single fly. Sheets and towels are provided, as well as a mostly empty closet and lots of reading material. The internet in the apartment has its ups and downs, but is mostly and unfortunately fairly slow. Again, you would be a fool to pass this place up, especially at this price.

Very convenient access to trains/Manhattan and very close to the Promenade. Willy was extremely accommodating despite last minute changes on my part due to travel problems and I would happily recommend her place.

The apartment is beautiful, very bright and clean. I recommend this great apartment. It is very very good, all the subways in range. The area is very good, the street is very pretty and the people of Brooklyn Heights are very nice. I recommend this apartment, we definitely go back!
Jun 27, 2019We loved the light airy feel to the apartment, and the neighborhood is beautiful and quiet. It was close to everything, even Starbucks a block away! Everything was sufficient for the time we were there. If you stay longer than a week, you may need a few more amenities in the kitchen...but for our 5 days, it was fine, as we were out every day. The bed was very comfortable, with views to roof gardens. I will definitely go back! Thanks Willy!

Jun 27, 2019First of all, we loved the neighborhood. It was very close to several subway lines and shops, not to mention the river, from which there is such a beautiful view. Second, the apartment is a lovely alternative to getting a hotel. While there were a couple of quirks, they weren't substantial in any way and the price was more than 50% less than nearby hotels. The lighting in the place is stunning and the building tends to be very quiet. Getting the keys was not a problem. We had a bit of trouble getting in to the building a couple of times, but that was resolved with the help of a friendly neighbor who was our designated contact since the host is away. The door to the apartment was a difficult to unlock as well, but that may have been my error. Overall, I would very highly recommend staying at Willy's place. It's comfortable, inexpensive, especially compared to other nearby options, and charming. We would like to come back soon!

Jun 27, 2019I spent a delightful week at Willy's hideaway apartment. I call it hideaway because the apt. faces the back of the building and you hear nothing except birds chirping, no street noise. The apartment is very small: essentially the large, airy and lovely bedroom you see in the photo and then a tiny kitchen and bathroom. But it is the perfect setup and the PERFECT location if you want to be in the heart of Brooklyn Heights. There is a desk in the bedroom and an Internet connection (not perfect, but mostly worked) so I was able to get some work done too. Willy was delightful to interact with - accommodating and prompt. After exchanging mobile numbers, we were able to text back and forth, which is very efficient. The bathroom sink turned out to be completely clogged but Willy got a plumber to fix it the next day. She met the plumber there and dealt with the situation, so it was no trouble at all for us. Definitely recommend.

Jun 27, 2019This apartment is lovely. Huge windows with white cotton curtains allow for an airiness and beautiful light throughout the day. Because it is at the back of the building it is delightfully peaceful. The kitchen and bathroom are small but clean and work well. The Nespresso machine was a little joy. And it is very hard to beat the location; a wonderful old Brownstone on a tree lined street right in downtown Brooklyn Heights. It was great.

Jun 27, 2019Willamain is sweet, responsible and unobtrusive. The location is outstanding, and the neighborhood is ideal. My one caveat is it felt VERY much like we were staying in someone's home to the point where there was literally zero space in the closets or bathroom cabinets for any of our stuff, as all of her belongings were there. I might suggest her putting in some kind of guests only storage if possible. The other caveat is the necessity to keep a very low profile while staying there (dont talk with the neighbors) which suggests that her renting her space may be somewhat undercover. However, the place was clean, light and airy and very restful for sleeping. So on balance, storage aside, a very nice place to stay from convenience to beautiful views from the promenade.

Jun 27, 2019Great location, pretty apartment, but some minor bumps along the way. Overall, we had a great stay and always feel like it's a huge step up from a hotel. However, I felt like the host was sending mixed signals about welcoming children and price, which left a slightly bad taste in my mouth and the apartment is missing some appliances (toaster, microwave) and storage space, which would have been nice. On the whole though, it is a great apartment in an amazing location. The host was very friendly and easy to work with and the positives way outweighed the negatives.

Brooklyn Heights is my favorite neighborhood in NYC and this spot is located in the heart of it. It's so convenient to trains and shopping and restaurants. LuLu is a great host! I highly recommend this place. I would totally stay here again when I'm back in town for business / vacation to see friends.

Jul 27, 2019Our host was very pleasant, and met us after arranging a time to pick up the keys. The apartment was clean, and airy, but it does not appear to have A/C. This might be a problem for some in the summer. For us it wasn't since it was early spring, and still quite cool outside. Guests should realize that they have to keep quiet after 7 PM, or some of the neighbors below might complain. We were not loud at all, but were very careful about this. The apartment is small, and there is no TV. If this is important to you, you should know this. WiFi internet is available.

In a quiet building on a quiet block, this is the perfect place to stay while visiting the city - with huge windows, a nice breeze and plenty of surf magazines. Close to everything and blocks away from the promenade and the new Brooklyn Bridge park, stay at Willy's place if you can.

Jun 27, 2019Thanks for a great stay in Brooklyn Heights! The apartment, though a bit smaller then the pictures indicate, was clean, comfortable and in a great location. The neighborhood was quintessentially Brooklyn - a quiet tree-lined street with churches and brownstones. We felt absolutely safe at all times and noise was never an issue, even as a neighborhood festival was in full swing out front. The apartment is an easy walk from the 2, 3 and R lines, with one-stop trips into Manhattan. The neighborhood itself, though, had plenty to offer: two short blocks to shops, restaurants, bakeries and cafes - and the promenade with amazing views of the skyline. Willy was outstanding with communication and helpful in getting us acclimated to the neighborhood with restaurant recommendations. Highly recommend a stay in her wonderful apartment.

Jun 27, 2019Hi future guests, My stay on Remsen was (Website hidden by Airbnb) a room full of light and a back yard view of real Brooklyn life surrounding the room on all levels. The Montague shops and access to the subway were perfect. And at the end of the street, the New York skyline. You should have seen the fireworks on the 4th of July, with the center Macy's float right there on the Brooklyn I was there a whole month...and Willy and I worked well together through several small issues. She was very courteous, conscientous and she was supportive and accommodating. I know your stay will be a delight. Susanna

My mother stayed in her apartment while visiting me in Brooklyn, and LuLu was very accommodating, making sure she had everything she needed and felt comfortable in the apartment. She was away but was available if we had any questions. The apartment itself was also wonderful - beautifully decorated, clean and conveniently located in prime Brooklyn Heights. We will definitely be staying here again in the future!

Location was perfect for us as it is nice and quiet which is just what you need after a long day walking around the city. Loved that you could walk down to the end of the road and see the amazing skyline. Would recommend staying here to everyone.
Jun 27, 2019The apartment looks smaller than the main picture suggests, once your suitcases are in the bedroom/living room there isn't much room to move around... Having said that the flat is clean, airy and bright and very quiet. The bed and pillows are also super comfortable. We arrived late on a very hot summer's day and somehow the electric plug for the air conditioning unit was missing! Luckily there was a supermarket around the corner so we had to go and buy a new extension lead in order to be able to sleep. We also had to buy toilet paper and soap as there was hardly any in the flat (for the price I was expecting everything to be included). Lulu provided new supplies to her cleaner later in the week. The bathroom works well and Lulu has great pictures around the place and nice old furniture. We had a great stay beside the rocky start. Leafy streets, very close to the water, nice neighborhood.

Jun 27, 2019Other than the location...this apartment wasn't in good condition. Issues with plumbing and VERY poor AC. The neighbours informed me that a complaint had been lodged to the local authorities because it is believed she does not have a permit to operate as a bnb. ..which explains why she wrote this email to me: "The plumbing is old so take care. Also, important note! Please do not speak to anyone in the building or mention Airb&b. If anyone asks your parents are a friends/relatives. I would appreciate it very much if you could be discreet" ...Red flags went off when I read that, but despite my better judgement I went ahead as I was tired and jet lagged from a long haul flight. There is no TV and the front door doesn't lock securely and has a huge dent in it as if someone had once kicked the door in. Her neighbours were always very suspicious of her and told me so. I would advise ANYONE considering this apartment to steer clear...something isn't legal about it.

The apartment was just lovely and exactly what was described. So much natural light and I felt right at home. Would have stayed forever if I could! Jun 27, 2019I truly enjoyed my stay at Lulu's apartment. It's a beautiful and very comfortable place in a perfect location! I appreciated its proximity to most subway stations and to very nice cafe's and shops. The apartment is spacious, has wonderful light and was super clean. The fact that it's elegantly furnished and decorated is also a plus. Lulu is a wonderful host and very accommodating. She helped make my check-in and check-out very smooth. It was very easy to communicate with her, as she's very quick to respond. All in all I had a pleasant experience and felt like I had a home in the city. I'll be definitely staying there again on my next Brooklyn visit.

Jun 27, 2019The apartment looked bright and charming, and LuLu couldn't have been nicer, but this was one of the worst rental experiences I've ever had. The apartment is literally falling apart (past leaks have left parts of the ceiling hanging down in the bathroom, and have stained the ceiling in the kitchen); the plumbing is old; the upstairs and downstairs tenants could be clearly heard; the subway that runs underneath the building rattled the walls every 5-10 minutes; the heat was intermittent -- the list of grievances could go on, but the final straw came when brown water started pouring out of a rusted pipe in the bedroom ceiling, and began dripping down the walls onto the floor. With no super in sight, and the heat out, and I had no choice but to find a new rental late that night. On the plus side, LuLu was very apologetic, and my money was refunded for the ensuing rental period.
Jun 27, 2019The host is very friendly and timely with communication. She made sure that my mom's stay was comfortable. The home is a bit smaller than in the photos but very charming indeed. Given the harsh winter, it would have been great to have an electrical heater on hand for extra warmth. Contrary to some of the reviews here, we didn't encounter any issues with leakage so whatever the issue was, it has been fixed. For those looking to cook, the kitchen is not equipped with pots, pans, cooking utensils etc. Otherwise, a great stay in the heart of beautiful Brooklyn - just a few minutes' walk to promenade with amazing views and close to main subway lines and tourist areas.
Jun 27, 2019When I arrived, the apartment was clean and bright. The natural light is no joke, so refreshing. The space is very cool and the location is fantastic - near good restaurants and shopping. I had a health issue on my final day and Lulu was completely understanding and worked with my check out restrictions. I’m so appreciative!! Would definitely stay here again.

Jun 27, 2019Bright, sunny, fun little place to stay in Brooklyn. It was perfect for my husband and I a we visited our daughter who lives in Brooklyn. I would love to stay here again. LuLu was very responsive to any questions we had. I would recommend highly!

Jun 27, 2019Buena ubicación en Brooklyn, barrio bonito y bien comunicado aunque no deja de estar a 40 minutos de la mayoría de los puntos turísticos pero el puente está a unos 15. El apartamento es pequeño, bien para una pareja. Decoración coqueta pero el equipamiento está bastante viejo: sábanas, edredón, almohadas y puerta de entrada que casi no cierra. La comunicación con la anfitriona no ha sido todo lo fluida que debería. Me quiso cambiar la reserva varias veces y luego tardaba más de 15 días en responder o directamente no respondía. Creo que debería ser más seria, a veces da la sensación que se desentiende por completo. Además si te molestan los ruidos, ten en cuenta que el edificio es muy viejo y se oye todo. Los vecinos de arriba nos tuvieron sin dormir por sus continuas fiestas más de una noche pero por lo demás, es un alojamiento correcto teniendo en cuenta que se trata de Nueva York.
