Neighborhood Overview
THE NEIGHBORHOOD, ART: Bushwick has been described as the new Williamsburg or what the East Village of Manhattan was in the early 90's. The New York Times recently described the area as "The Next Gallery District in New York." FOOD: Anyone still invested in framing Bushwick as a scrappy outsider in New York's food scene'll need a new axe to grind: the 2014 Michelin Guide for New York is out, and includes almost all of Bushwick's major restaurants. The Vietnamese restaurant Falansai, the French bistro Mominette, the eclectic eatery Dear Bushwick and the addition to Roberta's pizza Blanca — all of which have opened in the last year — landed in this year's guide of recommended city spots. Also on the list were the more established Northeast Kingdom, El Mio Cid and Roberta's. FASHION & FILM: Bushwick is rich with turn of the century architecture and hosts a thriving film community. The characters of HBO's "Girls" attended a warehouse party here and the show regularly shoots in apartmen

Shannon's apartment was left lovely and clean with plenty of towels and bedding, the place was huge and it was a pleasure to stay there.
Jun 27, 2019Shannon was very helpful and flexible, available for questions whenever I had them. Her apartment is gorgeous, just as described and very clean and spacious. The apartment complex is also really cool, and we were lucky enough to meet some of the other lovely residents during our stay. The location near the myrtle JMZ train station was so convenient. We had a fantastic time here.
Jun 27, 2019I only hope that every airbnb host is as friendly and efficient as Shannon. We couldn't have asked for a better stay in her lovely apartment. It was clean, spacious, fully stocked with linen/bathroom supplies and super close to the JMZ train line. Thanks so much Shannon, it made the trip that much easier.
Jun 27, 2019we spent a great time in the appartment of shannon. everything we needed was there- perfect kitchen, lots of fresh towels and sheats, very interesting building with billiard, ping pong,etc.downstairs. perfect subway station to everywhere nearby. nice delis around. perfect for a new york brooklyn trip - not the snobby one. thank you shannon
Jun 27, 2019Shannon is so cool ! And her loft is conveniently located for almost everything. Very close to the subway station, bars.restaurants, and delis. She helped me,and my girlfriend to find things to do nearby, She also took good care of us. I would stay at her place again and again.
Jun 27, 2019Wonderful apartment, great hostess.
Jun 27, 2019Great space in an amazing area. Very unique.
Jun 27, 2019I had a really great time at Shannons Apartment. Everything was perfect and everything was there to feel like home. Shannon is a very nice person and i hope to be there very soon again. Thank you for all.
Jun 27, 2019Shannon's Appartment is amazing. The place is in a great location within walking distance from two subway lines, great restaurants, 24 hour fresh produce and deli, close to good clothing shops and a quick 15minute subway ride to everything manhattan has to offer. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked, the games room is good fun and the rooftop is jaw dropping. Shannon is a great host, she had plenty of good recommendations to help us get the most out of bushwick and it's surrounding neighborhoods. And she was incredibly accommodating towards our crazy 2am arrival! (Thanks for waiting up Shannon!) If your looking for a more unique stay in New York, away from the swarms of tourists in Manhattan then this is the perfect place to base yourself. 10/10 could not fault the place.
Jun 27, 2019My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Shannon's loft. Shannon was extremely friendly and considerate, and she was very reachable when we had questions. I felt safe in the building, and the room suited the two of us just fine. Loved the book collection. No pool balls in the common room, but we just played ping pong instead. The location is extremely convenient - just a couple minutes walk to subway. We were able to get all over NYC easily and it was great to come back, relax and cook a nice meal at the end of the day at the loft. We would definitely stay here again - wish I lived here!
Jun 27, 2019Perfect. Great location. Great host.
Jun 27, 2019Shannon's place was great, just like the home I would want in NYC. I used to live in Manhattan years ago and I was visiting with my girlfriend for the New Years. It was her first trip to the U.S. and she wanted to see New York, a real, authentic, and old New York. Bushwick is that right now. It's hip, arty, and with just enough grit to make it feel like you're in New York not the theme park that tourists end up going to. Her apartment is close to trains, some great restaurants and grocery stores, and the building is really cool. We mostly stayed out, but when we stayed in we could cook and watch Netflix like we were home. I can not stress how comfy she has made it. I really felt like I was home. I would highly recommend Shannon's place and would love to stay there again
Jun 27, 2019Shannon's place was perfect. Not too sparse, not too cluttered. A great loft experience. Location is great - subway two blocks away and the Citibike station only 3 blocks away. Shannon was very easy to deal with, quick to respond and was a pro at hosting. Hope to stay here again!
Jun 27, 2019OK:)
Jul 27, 2019The place is very nice, big, clean and stylish. We really enjoyed our week and Shannon helped us very quickly when we had questions, thanks a lot!
Jun 27, 2019For our first time in New York, it was somewhat courageous of us to live like locals, deep in the neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn. It took some adjusting for us to hang out in the area. The area is considered 'gritty' which is extremely true. I cant stress that enough. It is dirty, you might be bothered for spare change, you might be asked to swipe your metro card for someone, however the area does have some of the coolest restaurants in the city. But you must go looking for them, otherwise you will only find corner deli's that don't take international credit cards and random pawn shops etc. We actually loved our experience at Shannon's though. Shannon's studio was great. Lots of space for two. The only complaints we had were that the walls were paper thin and it was all around a bit dirty. We washed the dishes before using them since they were dusty and just kept a fan at night to block out noise. We also could not reach Shannon until the day of our reservation and had to wait past check in time to get the keys. Once we were in contact, Shannon was super nice and helpful. The roof top is amazing! You can see some of Manhatten's skyline. The subway takes about half an hour to get to Manhatten , once you are there, probably another 15 to wherever you want to go. It is nice to get away from the zoo of Manhatten, I strongly recommend staying in Brooklyn, it's gives you more of a well rounded experience. For us, this was great, we loved the experience of what it would be like to live there.
Jun 27, 2019Shannon's apartment was fantastic. A great location super close to the subway and to plenty of delicious spots to eat and drink, this apartment provided us with a very relaxing place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city while still remaining close enough to get back it when rested. A great price for such a fantastic location would make this apartment a no-brainer for any future trips we take to New York. Thanks for such a great place!
Jun 27, 2019The accommodation was very good, we liked the neighborhood very much even though is a little gray in contrast to other areas. Brooklyn, however is a neighborhood that is being transformed. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Manhattan, but worth staying in Brooklyn and explore this part of the city. Shannon's attention was good although not met, although slow to respond to messages so you have to take that into account. The apartment was clean, but the building was not. Undoubtedly it is a good option to stay especially if you're a tourist and you want concoer both Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Jun 27, 2019Great apartment, with tons of space and good value, especially for New York! I stayed in Shannon's place for a little over a month. The apartment has a big bed as well as a lofted bed so it offers lots of sleeping space. The living room is huge and it's attachment to the kitchen make the entire space very livable and great to have people over. The bathroom is comfortable, has enough storage, and well functioning. The kitchen is well equipped and Shannon left a wide supply of food which was super nice and convenient. Besides it's convenience the apartment has a very unique kinda vintage artsy style which adds a special touch to staying in New York. Only caveat here is that it may feel a bit old and unkept, especially the kitchen floor which needs a little fixing. But if you're cool with a little vintage style, then you'll love the place. In terms of the neighborhood, Bushwick is definitely up and coming, so it's really cool to discover some of the cool restaurants and coffee shops around. It's also great to be so close to the subway and the trip to manhattan is smooth and short. However, do note that this is still a gritty area, especially around the subway station so it may feel a bit edgy for some folks. Also, while getting to lower manhattan is very easy, the trek to other areas uptown may take up to 50min or so. But overall it's a great place to stay to get good value for your buck. Beyond the place and area itself, Shannon and Nez were PHENOMENAL hosts, readily available via text, easy check in and check out and they even helped me out with some mail I needed to get, so thanks so much to both of them. Overall, awesome experience with a great place with tons of space and style, a cool neighborhood and great hosts.
Jun 27, 2019I stayed in Shannon's place for a little more than 2 months and I can testify that her place is really great. In fact, I really think the pictures in the listing don't give enough justice to the size of the place. It was really not clear just how spacious and comfortable the apartment is. The building is quite old (I think around 1880) so obviously it is the type of apartments that need a lot of care so you will have to be ready for that. Apart from that Shannon is very friendly, and although I never met her she was always receptive to my questions/calls. I really recommend staying at Shannon's place
Jun 27, 2019Arion place was a great location for exploring both Brooklyn and Manhattan. The loft itself was a bit rough and ready and not very clean.
Jun 27, 2019Very low price and surprisingly spacious. The heater is very loud when it turns on and blows very hot air (almost uncomfortable), but at least it works. The lofted bed can get very warm, so try and have the fan circulate air up to there. Shannon's recommendations were great and she was easy to communicate with!
Jun 27, 2019Great space in the heart of Bushwick with a fun community room in the basement!
Jun 27, 2019A very nice almost hidden place in a very nice and cool neighbourhood!
Jun 27, 2019Shannon’s apartment is very well located, 2mn from the main subway lines going directly to Chinatown, the financial district... Even though it’s in an old building, the apartment is very clean and comfortable for 2 to 4 people. Shannon let us bottles of water and fruits which was very nice of her and has been very reactive to our questions.

Jun 27, 2019Great value for money and location to public transport makes getting around New York easy.
Jun 27, 2019We had a great time at Shannon’s place. The apartment has a cool desert vibe, it’s also super well connected to public transport, supermarkets and we fell in love with the rooftop. Shannon and Rachel were super responsive and helpful. Thank you for letting us stay!
Jun 27, 2019Great place, great location, great host. Really easy to get to and from the airport and into manhattan. Really helped us enjoy our stay that much more. Very stylish, too, in a very Brooklyn fashion.
Totalmente recomendado.
Jun 27, 2019Shannon is a great host, available when you need it and the apartment is exactly what you can expect from Bushwick. Get the Brooklyn vibes at Shannon’s!
Jun 27, 2019Shannon's place was even better than we imagined from the pictures. It's huge, and in a really great central area of Bushwick surrounded by cool bars, restaurants and coffee shops. There are two nearby subways that make it easy to get around Brooklyn and into Manhattan. The space was clean and nicely appointed, and it was a real plus to have laundry and a gym in the basement. We did stay in January during the polar vortex days and so often it did get very cold - but at night we were fine in the bed at the top of the ladder. Didn't get to enjoy the rooftop as it was winter but it looks like this place would be an awesome flat to stay in during the sunnier months as well!
