We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hale Kipa! The place was just as described, and so much more. Mary Kay and Gerald are very kind, welcoming hosts, who made an incredible effort to make the space as perfect and comfortable as can be. Mary Kay's thoughtful details are everywhere. The kitchen area had everything we would need. Even down to everyday condiments like salt/pepper, oil, ketchup, butter and even soy sauce! Not to mention coffee, creamer, sugar and filters for the machine. I even saw a candy jar;) Everything was very new & very clean. The decorative touches are great. A vase of fresh hand picked flowers on a table meant a lot to my wife Lisa. Each day we had our coffee and breakfast on the lanai overlooking the scenic hilltops and a pasture with a few sheep and a calf. The birds were singing and roosters chimed in too. One day we had planned a hike not far from the house, but the weather was quite foggy. However, foggy weather equals romantic snuggle weather! Needless to say we made the most of it with a bottle of wine, a roaring fire, and by enjoying our lovely accommodation!! The next day we woke up early, hiked, drove around on a few side roads to enjoy the scenery of beautiful Waimea and stopped at some local farmer markets. There are stores close by to get a few groceries, and quite a large array of restaurants too. We took this nice little break from our own Vacation Rental, to enjoy Waimea which is about an hours drive for us. This stay exceeded our expectations...we shall see you again soon! Riaan & Lisa

Jun 27, 2019We sure enjoyed our week at Mary Kay and Gerald's place. Their pride in their place really shows and they've handled all the little details to make the stay outstanding. The kitchen was well equipped and even had coffee and tea for us. The bathroom had all the necessities like shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. It was so nice having our own private space in this lovely guest house.

Jun 27, 2019Aloha, I really enjoyed my stay at their place. Beautiful space, nice touches, great little kitchenette to cook my meals in. Mary Kay was gracious, and let me borrow her blender for my morning smoothies. There was a problem with the toilet, I let them know, and her husband fixed it right away. Location is centrally located, easy to get to the best beaches, or go Hilo, Hawi etc. I was grateful to the neighbors roosters for keeping me on track, by helping me get up to get the most out of my days on vacation.
Jun 27, 2019Fabolous!, Fabulous! Fabulous! Everything you'd want and more is supplied. Mary Kay's space is large, clean and pretty with a kitchen stocked with every amenity you need - dishes, flatware, toaster, toaster-oven, hot plate, fridge, microwave, cutting board etc . A large closet gives you a place to stow away your luggage and keep the room neat. There are lots of windows for a cross breeze and a nice overhang so you can leave them open when it rains. A lanai out front looks over the neighborhood and a few goats and cow. I was sorry to leave! Mary Kay is the friendliest and most charming of hosts too, which is why we go to Airbnb places; for that personal touch. Thanks for letting me stay at your lovely place.

Jun 27, 2019This was everything I'd hoped for and more. The accommodations were as pictured and even nicer in person. Everything was spotless. The host was friendly and welcoming. I didn't have a lot of interaction with Mary Kay as I was gone very often, but I had the sense that if I needed assistance, I would be quickly helped. I loved the area and highly recommend this host.
Jun 27, 2019Mary Kay was extremely friendly and warm. She greeted us as we drove up to the house. Everything was clean and cozy. There's a small deck, perfect for taking in the cool Waimea weather. This home is on the wet side of Waimea. Trust me when I tell you that after a day at the hot and sunny beach or coastal areas, nothing is more refreshing than returning to cool, misty Waimea. The coast and Hapuna are only 25 minutes away! I grew up in Waimea and this has always been the better weather part of town for me. I highly recommend this spot!
Jun 27, 2019This is a great apartment t, good value, very comfortable bed, great kitchen, very clean with great hosts. Must have car, our main complaint was barking dogs in the neighborhood, seems to be out of the control of the very gracious hosts.

Jun 27, 2019We were looking for a place outside of the town so we can see the country side and get the feel for the how real people live. This was a perfect place. Beautiful greens with back drop of mountain and farm animals running around. The most impressive about the May Kay's place is the suite itself. It was a huge place with the details of all the comfort. Mary Kay is a experienced host and very nice.

Jun 27, 2019Awesome!!!!! We really loved it!!! Such a big flat, just for us, in the countryside with everything around!!! You're near the nice beaches of North Kohala, Waipio, Kona.... And it is so peace full !!!!! We recommend +++ this place to everybody who wants to discover the north of Big Island. This was our favorite airbn'b in Big Island and if we come back, we'll go there! Thank you Mary Key and Gerald !!!!!!!

Jun 27, 2019Really lovely space. I stayed here for 6 weeks, and it had everything I needed - kitchenette and bathroom are well-stocked and modern. Mary Kay and Gerald respected my privacy but were lovely when I did see them. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Jun 27, 2019The house is very nice and has a lot facilities. Unfortunatly the noise of the dogs and chicken of the neighbour are to loudy. This starts at 5.30 and will nog finish till sunrise.

Jun 27, 2019The space is roomy and very comfortable. Great kitchen and bath. Comfortable bed. Mary Kay was at work when I arrived and left but her husband was gracious and very helpful. Except for some animal noises (neighbor dogs and roosters that crow throughout the day) this would have been a quiet, relaxing oasis for my couple of days in Waimea. If animal noises don’t bother you I highly recommends Mary Kay’s place.
Jun 27, 2019The place was spacious, clean, private and the host family was very friendly and helpful. We loved having space to spread out and relax and it was in a good location relative to the town of Waimea. The place itself and every interaction with Mary Kay was great. Only caveat is that if you are sensitive to noise, the family across the road seems to have upwards of 10 roosters and several very loud dogs that are always outside and barking. We closed the windows and ran the fan and were able to sleep without any issue, though.
Jun 27, 2019Lovely space on top floor of a neighborhood home a couple of miles outside of Waimea. This is a comfortable and clean upstairs studio, with full kitchen, good quality bed, flat screen table, recliner to put your feet up and lanai with view to the hills. The only drawback is that it can get a bit noisy with the neighborhood roosters and dogs, but closing the front windows when necessary mitigates this and there is still plenty of ventilation from the rear windows. Mary Kay's place is highly recommended for a short or long stay in the Waimea area.

Jun 27, 2019My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the comfortable, clean and cozy studio to unwind and relax. I liked the style and decoration of the place. Mary Kay has good taste for interior design! The family was very kind and helpful. I absolutely recommend staying here!
