Neighborhood Overview
Our neighbourhood is unique by its closeness to facilities interesting to a traveller. As well it is a wonderful sociopolitical mix of the young and old, the professional, the retired and the student of all sexual preference. If it's the Gay Pride Mardi Gras you're here for, this is a perfect space.
Notes
Please note that we live in the Inner city where public transport is excellent and more cars are not encouraged as there are already too many. There is limited free parking close to the house but most parking is restricted to 2 hours between 8am and 8pm. At night however there is unlimited parking and mostly available fairly close to house except if there is an event at the nearby sporting venues.

Besides the location is very convent not only near the city center but also surrounded by 2 Coles market. This is the most fantastic and lovely experience I ever had. Paul and his family are very good at taking care of their guests, they prepare milk, honey, orange, cereal for us. During the 2 weeks, they just treat us as same as a part of the family, inviting us to their festival dinner, introducing us to their best friends. Every morning they would ask if it was a good sleep. Every evening, they would say good night before we go back to the room. Jun 27, 2019Paul, Judith et ses enfants nous ont très bien reçus, la maison est agréable, le jardin également. La chambre est spacieuse, lumineuse et au calme. Le quartier est bien desservi en bus et proche de cafés, restaurants. La famille nous a très bien conseillé sur Sydney et ils sont très attentionnés. Nous avons même eu de la baguette au petit dej! Merci encore de nous avoir accueillies, c'était très bien!

Jun 27, 2019Paul and his family were incredibly welcoming, hospitable and really helpful as I started to find my feet in Sydney. The room was lovely and spacious with a very comfy bed. The family were always happy to chat and share a meal but likewise you could have your own space if needed. I cannot recommend this Airbnb more highly.
Jun 27, 2019Paul was not there to receive us , however he got his son, Tim to help us with the check in procedures. Both Tim and Nicole are very helpful and friendly, sharing with us food places around the vicinity. The city is easily accessible from the place. There are lots of food choices in the location as well. The room and toilet is true to picture, it was really comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed our stay there. We especially love the two dogs; really friendly and cute:)

We were well looked after by Nicola and Tim in Paul and Judith's absence and enjoyed having their home for us alone. We felt very much at home, enjoyed a cosy room upstairs and the location was perfect for my work and close to some wonderful cafes and bakeries in Redfern and Surry Hills. Paul and Judith were especially kind to send me something that I unfortunately left behind. Truly generous hosts and we can absolutely recommend anyone to stay at their beautiful home!!

Everything from the room to the kitchen to the rest of the house had personality, charm and above all, a wonderful homey atmosphere. The best part about our stay was Judith's (Paul's wife) excellent selection of coffee and of course, their two very friendly dogs.
Jun 27, 2019Beautiful house in a great location of Sydney. The room was very nice, clean and tidy, in a private spot of the house on the top floor. Also, guests have their own bathroom. My mom and a friend stayed with Paul and his family and I also had the pleasure to meet him one day. Paul is a great host, very hospitable and absolutely helpful, it was great staying with him! Thanks so much for letting them have a great time in Sydney :)

Jun 27, 2019Perfect location for an affordable stay in Sydney! Grocery, liquor, and pharmacy nearby, and commute to Circular Quay or Central train station is easy with a 5 minute walk to 2 different bus stops. Additionally, an Uber to the airport from this location can cost less than public transit! The space is great for single or couple use, with a comfy bed to fall into after a day of sightseeing. The family is very welcoming and resourceful if you need help with anything. The dogs are a great bonus, if you're pet lovers like us. Judith was very flexible with our arrival time considering our flight schedules which made logistics that much easier.
Jun 27, 2019We spent 10 days at Paul's and Judith's house and felt welcomed from the very first moment. The house is very nice and in a great location. There're many restaurants around and a bus stop just by the corner. The room and bathroom are spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Paul and Judith, as well as the rest of the family, were very nice, friendly and interesting to talk to. They also gave us many tips about things to do and places to visit in Sydney. We shared many good times with them and we would definitely book this room again. Highly recommended!

Jun 27, 2019After a long day in the city it always felt like coming home, because Paul was so friendly and kind. When we arrived he invited us to watch the Melbourne Cup together and explained us the importance of this event in Australia, which was in fact very new for us and interesting to learn. Paul did everything he could to help us navigate through Sydney and even had Opal cards prepared for us. He and his wife Judith are wonderful people who we enjoyed a lot to stay with. Jun 27, 2019We were attending a conference at Technology Park in Redfern, we walked their every day, we were only 5 minutes walk to an amazing array of eateries, Paul's house is a beautiful old terrace in an historic area and as hosts, he and Judith treated us like old friends. Just be aware the room is on the third floor and the stairs are steep. Would highly recommend

Ils n'ont pas hésité à converser avec nous, nous ont donné des conseils quant aux transports en commun et ils s'intéressaient à ce que nous faisions la journée. Nous avions même le droit à du pain frais tous les matins. Le quartier était conforme à nos attentes: proche du centre-ville en utilisant les transports en commun et très tranquille pour y dormir. Une adresse à recommander les yeux fermés!

Jun 27, 2019I stayed with Paul and Judith for a week and enjoyed meeting them and staying in their home. They have 2 sweet dogs..the bigger one being calmer than the rather noisy smaller one (noisy at 11 at night and possibly at 6am too when I was woken a couple of times by continuous barking though that could have been in the neighbourhood ). I knew the neighborhood because my daughter and family live there and it is great for shops and restaurants and transport everywhere. Visitors should be aware that the room is on the 2nd floor up some narrow, steep stairs. This makes it a bit tricky with suitcases and in the night when you are half asleep and need to go downstairs to the bathroom! The family generously give up their bathroom for guests and use another one downstairs. Great bread for breakfast, particularly the last couple of days!

They served fresh baked bread every morning and we celebrated our coffee at the cosy terrace. Judith and Paul are quit entertaining and warmhearted people. We highly recommend to stay with them. Jun 27, 2019Great location. Nice walk to CBD and many shops and restaurants very close by if you want a (very) short walk. Busses very close as well though I didn't have a need to use them. Hosts were very friendly and help out with any info you need. Highly recommended.
Jun 27, 2019From beginning to end, Paul and Judith made us feel welcome. From the lovely continental breakfast to individual bedside lamps, you can tell they have thought of every detail to ensure you have a comfortable stay. Their place is in a great location, only a half hour walk from the city centre, very close to bus stops and 5mins walk away from two great cafes. We also enjoyed spending time with Bonnie and Benny, their two very friendly dogs :) Absolutely recommended and hope to stay here again next time we are in Sydney.
Jun 27, 2019The home is situated on a corner by a small cul de sac park and is as advertised in the photos. The neighbourhood is gentrified with a number of hip boutique shops, a bakery and cafes nearby with bus stops and a supermarket within walking distance. Paul and Judith were on holiday during my stay but I was well looked after by their daughters who popped in to help if needed. Even the nearby neighbour chipped in to help with getting inside when I arrived late at night and couldn't find the key. During my stay and chats with the eldest daughter and neighbour I could tell that this house had character and raised a nice and respected family. Be careful with the stairs though, they are a bit steep but I only carried a backpack with me. Lastly, the dogs Bonnie and Benny are very obedient, well-behaved and cute! I'd definitely like to come back should the opportunity present itself in the future.

If you're looking for a place to stay that's close to the center of the city, a stones throw away from the bus stops, close to a couple of restaurants and a place that says 'You are welcome to stay with us in our house, please make yourselves comfortable' then this is the place to be. Both Paul and Judith go the extra mile and help you get around the city with Opal cards and with suggestions on what you can probably do with your day. We had a lovely time staying at their place and certainly enjoyed their hospitality.

Jun 27, 2019Paul and Judith are kind and friendly hosts who loves to meet new people. Judith is a still working teacher and Paul is at home. They give You good tips what to do in Sydney and are very helpful! Our stay was a Nice experience with interesting conversations with this two. Their Apartment is in Redfern, by feet You Need about 15 minutes to Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. There are some cool restaurants in the area for a typical Aussie-Breakfast. The Supermarkt is just around the corner. We really enjoyed our time with Paul and Judith and hope to meet them again in the future!

Paul, Judith their dogs and their grownup kids are all wonderful people who were a real pleasure to chat with every morning over breakfast and every evening after a long day of sightseeing. The house is in a great location in Bourke Street so really close to Surrey Hills, Centennial Park and for getting in and out the city. The room is very nice and a little away so you have your own privacy. I would highly recommend this airbnb.

Jun 27, 2019I had a great time staying at Paul & Judith’s place! They are very nice and fun to be with. The house and the room are both clean and filled with character, meaning very comfortable. It’s also close to quite a few restaurants and bus lines. You can make a turn or two and walk for 30 minutes or so and be at the Opera House! I recommend it highly.

Hier vermietet nicht ein größeres Unternehmen mit einem fingierten Besitzer, sondern hier wohnt ihr bei echten Sydneysidern und habt die Chance bei warmherzigen, wundervollen Menschen einen kleinen Einblick in das Leben in Sydney zu bekommen.

Jun 27, 2019I absolutely loved staying here, the hosts are amazing and the location is great. The house has great charm about it and I loved how the neighborhood is so neat and quite, yet so close to shops, restaurants, cafes, and public transportation for city access. I had access to buses within a few min walk. The room was great, private and comfortable. The dogies are very nice and kind if you like dogs. Overall, amazing stay, would love to come back for sure.

Jun 27, 2019We had a great time here. It is far closer to the CBD than we anticipated so being able to walk to the Opera House on our first night in Sydney was an added bonus. If you're up for the walk Paul knows a lot about the city and gives great advice on how to get about.
Jun 27, 2019Paul and Judith’s house is in a great location, close to loads of cool shops and restaurants and an easy walk/bus ride into the CBD. We stayed for a week and the house had everything we needed. It was very peaceful and the whole family made us feel very welcome and gave us loads of tips on what to do.
Jun 27, 2019Paul and Judith really went out of their way to make the stay pleasant and comfortable. They were friendly and sociable as well as leaving you to your own devices if you wished. The house was clean and tidy, with a large bedroom and comfortable double bed. The room did get slightly hot some days but that was to be expected in the middle of summer and a fan was thoughtfully provided, Plenty of space for clothes and other items in the room. Check in was very easy and I was let in by one of their friendly (adult) children. They have two well behaved dogs who didn't cause any fuss. It was a large and extremely friendly house and would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of staying.
Jun 27, 2019Paul and Judith are lovely people and wonderful hosts. I stayed for a month and they were very kind and helpful and we became good friends. The house is in a great location being near useful bus routes, supermarkets and restaurants. The accommodation is excellent value for money. I would recommend it for any length of stay. Be aware that the bathroom is on the floor below. The room is large with a bed, reading lights,lots of cupboards and a hanging rail. .The park outside is lovely but occasionally you can get people talking there late into the night, so make sure you have earplugs.
Jun 27, 2019Lovely friendly warm couple who went out of their way to help us find our way around Sydney :) suggested us places to go and even let us use their public transportation cards and wrote down the bus routes for is in detail so we wouldn't get lost!!! Clean and pretty house. We were very comfortable and had nice chats with them :) we would definitely recommend staying there! Plus their dogs are so friendly :D Thank you Judith and Paul :)
Jun 27, 2019Paul and Judith are the best hosts and the loveliest couple! Of course we enjoyed the private room at the loft, the comfortable bed, the private bathroom with hot shower, the kitchen and the lovely garden for meals and a beer - but not as much as the heartwarming hospitality by Paul, Judith and their 2 adorable dogs! Everything made us fell like home in Redfern, a lively yet peaceful neighbourhood with lots of wonderful eateries in Surry Hills. One not to be missed is Bourke Street Bakery. Coles supermarket is at doorsteps and Sydney CBD is easily accessible by bus in around 20min. No doubt we will choose to come back there whenever we visit Sydney again.

He and his wife were happy to speak with us and help us out as needed, including use of their washer which was much appreciated. We highly recommend staying with them. Only issue that jumps out for folks to be aware of is that the room is up two flights of stairs, so if that might be a problem for you, be aware. This wasn't a problem for us.

Jun 27, 2019We had a wonderful time at Judys and Pauls home. We stayed for 4 weeks, because we attempted an English class to improve our language skills. Judy and Paul are lovely hosts, they are very kind and helpful. It was always a pleasure to talk to them. The house and room is welcoming, comfy and clean. The neighbourhood is picturesque, calm but with a lot of nice bars and restaurants. There are plenty of busses running to the city center, main station and the beaches. Thank you for the great stay!

The location of this house is so good ,there are a lots of buses going around Sydney. The markets and Cafes are all around, the streets are beautiful and quiet. walking along the big trees and beautiful houeses is a very comfortable feeling. Highly recommended!
Jun 27, 2019Paul and Judith offered very helpful recommendations throughout our trip and gave us helpful tips for getting downtown, as well as finding great restaurants. The kitchen cart for guests was very convenient, with tea, coffee, chocolate, and muesli included, as well as use of a mini fridge and dishes. I especially enjoyed the muesli! Meals out in Sydney can be quite expensive, so it was nice to be able to prepare lunches in the morning and set out for the day. Paul and Judith’s is conveniently located near two grocery stores, several coffee shops, and numerous pubs and restaurants. It usually took us 30-45 minutes to walk to Hyde Park. We felt that the walk to and from downtown was manageable, though public transit is an option, too. Lastly, the room is very cozy with a wonderful down blanket that’s perfect for chilly, rainy nights. We loved our time in Redfern! Thank you both!
Jun 27, 2019Judith and Paul are very nice hosts. They live in a beautiful old house in one of the hipper parts of the town with lots of nice little cafes and interesting shops just around the corner. We had a quiet room and a bathroom on our own. Public transport is perfect, three bus lines are operating nearby and also one station of the local trains is in walking distance. They even gave us a "rechargeable" ticket for the busses and boats which was very useful. Don't miss a ferry tour with the boats on the Sydney harbour. They operate between the different suburbs and start at Circular Quay, for example. We can recommend Judith and Pauls house definetly for your visit in Sydney.
Jun 27, 2019Paul and Judith's house is amazing and comfortable, the bedroom is quiet and charming. They were helpful with everything that I needed. The house is very well located. One of the best airbnb experiences I've had so far, I totally recommend it!
Jun 27, 2019The place was as described. Very well located for public transportation, groceries, and eating. Paul and Judith are very kind and are very willing to help you navigate Sydney, they are very very sweet. Everyone else in the family was also very helpful and nice. The dogs were very friendly and happy. The bathroom was shared, but we have not issued at all. All in the house was very well supply. We really appreciate al the nice touches to make our life easier in Sydney, like the opal cards.
Jun 27, 2019Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit bei Paul und Judith. Da wir sehr spät landeten, konnten wir erst gegen Mitternacht einchecken, was Paul nicht daran hinderte uns herzlich zu Begrüßen. Das Haus war wunderschön. Die Lage perfekt um die Stadt zu erkunden. Jederzeit wieder.
