Space
We offer a very private Hawaiian country abode, free from crowding in urban centers in Hawaii that is truly a tropical-country style experience. Our 30 acres working ranch features horses, dogs, cats, cattle, goats, sheep, chickens, donkeys, pigs, and peacocks. Our animals are apart of our family and roam free among us and there land. We hope our guest feel free and comfortable to enjoy our beautiful mountain views and walks down our country road. We are a working ranch that is located in the mountainside of the jungly, rainy side of the island. This can mean at times we'll have ants, termites and other critters or pests that are above and beyond the norm. We do routinely exterminate and if ever there's a problem, you can give us a call. FULL DISCLOSURE: ABSOLUTELY NO EVENTS OR PARTIES CAN BE HELD ON THIS PROPERTY. Only the number of guests noted on the contract and the registered vehicles are allowed on the property.

Notes
There are beautiful beaches just down Kamehameha Hwy that you can walk to. The nearest grocery store, Tamura's Market, is located about 4 minutes up the road. The shopping center also has the following: Domino's Pizza - and they do deliver to the ranch Papa Ole's - amazing Hawaiian food Post Office Longs Drugs Hauula Clinic
Transit
A rental car is STRONGLY recommended. There is a bus stop off Kamehameha Highway in front of Puhuli Street. The bus service in Hawaii is very reliable.
Access
To access the ranch: Drive to the nearly the end of Puhuli Street. On the left-hand side you will see a large Palm tree and American Flag. The ranch is surrounded by a white fence. Turn left just before the flag. You will come to the main ranch gate that says "Tradewinds Ranch" on the posts above the gate. Just prior to arriving, I'll be sending you detailed instructions on how to navigate to the ranch house once on-property. The home is free standing and you will be the only people staying in the house. It has a private driveway with a gate you can close behind you to keep the farm animals at bay if you choose.

The main ranch gate MUST BE CLOSED UPON EVERY ENTRY AND EXIT OF THE PROPERTY Smoking is allowed outside only. Please use the ash trays provided. Turn off all lights and power (such as fans, appliances, etc.) when leaving the house. People other than those in the Guest party per the reservation agreement may not stay overnight in the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest. Guests are not allowed to exceed the occupancy limit agreed to above. We thought we were in heaven at Tradewinds Ranch! I admit, that on approach to the house we were initially a little unsure as to what we were getting in to, but once we got to the house we could not have been more pleased! The setting and location was absolutely perfect for us, and we just wish we had made more time to just "hang loose" at the house. Our host treated us with a welcome gift of smoked ono that just came off the smoker that morning - and it was absolutely delicious! The rooms were clean, and spacious. We will DEFINITELY do this again!

Jun 27, 2019My (now wife) and I are transplants to the island for a year and a half now, and were getting married the day after Thanksgiving. We had 22 friends and family flying out for it, 16 of which needed a place to stay. Since we were getting married at Kualoa Ranch, we wanted something close by. I put 7 of my friends up in the Loft, and 9 of my friends in the rental house on the same property. Since my friends and I stayed at the Loft down the hill, I will be reviewing on part of my wife and her family. All the feed back I received was the love of this home. I was only in it twice during stay, once for a Thanksgiving dinner the night before the wedding, which will forever be a Thanksgiving dinner I will never forget, both for it's ability to accommodate the family, and the beautiful home it is. It was beautiful, very clean, and decorated in a way you felt at home. The deck was great, and the jungle back drop provided awesome sounds to wake up relaxed to. Abby was great, very helpful through the booking process and getting us checked in. If she is the property manager of a listing you are interested in booking, you will not go wrong working with her!
Jun 27, 2019Abby is a terrific communicator and administrator of this location: punctual, professional, accommodating. The owner is equally enthusiastic and generous to make your stay the best. The home was wonderfully spacious for our needs and if we needed anything, it would've been provided. It took a few days to get used to the early morning rooster alarms but ear plugs helped. Comfortable beds. Many bugs outside. Beautiful backdrop of mountains. Ranch is the perfect name for this location with all the animals. Our group unanimously enjoyed the experience!
Jun 27, 2019The house was very nice, very Spacious and less than a mile walk down the hill to a Beach. Don't be afraid of the Drive up, once your there it's Beautiful. It's On a Farm so there are Animals around but we Loved that.

Jun 27, 2019Stayed here for 5 days with a group of 13 people. On the way to the location I agree with everyone that it seems a bit sketchy with the junk cars on the side of the road. The place is a bit hard to find during the day I couldn't even imagine in the night time, I would highly recommend checking in during day light as there is no lights on this unpaved road. Once inside the ranch is where the magic happens, you see the horses, cows, goats, donkeys, ducks, roosters... This place is lovely in the sense that you feel you are in the middle of nowhere and that's a good thing. The house itself is roomy and has been upgraded. The only real downside is you can't really have anybody over and you can't be too loud... What I mean by too loud is, we got a noise complaint when 4 of us were talking on the balcony past 10pm... Aside from the extremely strict rules, the house was great
Jun 27, 2019If you like country living, seclusion and a true island experience, this is the place for the family. It fit our budget and accommodated a large family. The owners were very responsive to our needs and communicated well. The place is a bit tricky at first to find so make sure to check in during the afternoon. Had a blast here!
Jun 27, 2019The best part of the ranch house is the location. The area was close to the North Shore which is my favorite part of the island. I love that we were on a ranch with animals and surrounded by nature and very close to the beach. The host was also very nice and brought us fruit. I would definitely recommend this place.

Jun 27, 2019We very much enjoyed Tradewinds Ranch. The house is very spacious and close to many attractions on the North Shore. Seven Brothers was recommended to us in the guidebook and we loved it. Their burgers were awesome and absolutely worth the price. We highly recommend the milkshakes and açaí bowls as well. Joyce was wonderful about communicating with us and Greta gave us some great tips too. Our favorite memory is definitely the morning we got up to go watch the sun rise on the beach and we had to get all the animals to move from the driveway. We found it quite entertaining and hilarious! Definitely recommend staying here.
Jun 27, 2019The ranch house was a perfect place for our family’s thanksgiving trip. We weren’t expecting such an amazing experience for the great price! We were able to cook a full thanksgiving feast using one of the two fully loaded kitchens in the house. The area was really cool and secluded, with visits from the horses, goats, cows etc. Not only was the place great but Joyce and Dave are so fun, kind, and hospitable, hosting our whole family for drinks and pupu’s on our last night! I highly recommend Joyce and Dave’s place and we will be back!
Jun 27, 2019My husband and I got married at Kualoa and were looking for somewhere to stay with our line for a few days. This Airbnb was the perfect spot for all of us! It was so spacious to get ready and have fun with our friends. The property was quaint and the house itself is beautiful! We didn’t want to leave! Thank you Joyce for being a wonderful host :)

Jun 27, 2019Off the beaten path - just what we were looking for. The ranch is conveniently located close to the beach and near all the North Shore has to offer. It is easy to get to and yet is not in a noisy, congested area. It was really a home away from home. Dave and Joyce were very welcoming and responsive. They invited us to feel at home at the ranch and invited us to their home for a social gathering one night. They gave us local pointers about the island and told us about a private waterfall on the ranch that we were able to find on one of our many walks. The house is well appointed and the materials are high end. We rented the entire house and it worked out perfectly for our big family. My kids loved the large tub with TV in the master bathroom. Rental of the entire house includes two separate kitchens and living rooms. When you first drive in the main road that you take to the Ranch has a number of abandoned vehicles - which is quite common for Hawaii. Apparently, people abandon cars because it is too expensive to get rid of them through legal means on the island. This is an ongoing issue and the owners are working on ways to eradicate this continuing problem. I would definitely recommend the Ranch.
Jun 27, 2019Tradwinds ranch is a lovely place in a very scenic, rural area with the mountains in the back ground and the beach is 10- 15 min walk away. The house is clean and beautiful inside. There is a closed off balcony on the first floor which is perfect for wondering toddlers, and two upstairs balconies that are very peaceful at any time of day. Both Joyce and Dave seem very pleasant and all of the free wondering farm animal were friendly just be smart about kids around large animals. Overall very happy with our stay!

Jun 27, 2019Tradewinds Ranch was a dream for us. It was absolutely perfect and exactly as described. I would highly recommend this location for any family or group looking for a beautiful location away from the crowding and craziness of Waikiki. Joyce was a truly exceptional host who made us feel like family guests far more than just customers. We were welcomed on to the beautiful property and literally enjoyed every moment there. The house was very clean, well maintained, and comfortable. All beds were comfortable, and the layout was perfect for our family. Joyce shared some farm fresh eggs with us, which we enjoyed very much. We truly have nothing negative to say. For those who have not been to Oahu, they should know that the ranch is in the "country" of Oahu, so it is a bit longer drive to some of the tourist attractions on the south of the island, but it offers easy access to the North Shore, and there are many beaches, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and other attractions very close. The bottom line is that we had high expectations, but even our lofty expectations were exceeded by both the property and the host. Both were exceptional. Joyce is as good of a host as you will ever find on airbnb.
Jun 27, 2019This is the perfect getaway location—set at the base of the mountains near Punalu’u. We loved the seclusion after being around people all day at the beach. Joyce is an excellent host and will do anything to make sure that everything is taken care of (she even left us a basket of fresh eggs and chocolates to welcome us). The house is a 20 minute drive to Kualoa Ranch, 10 minutes to Laie and the PCC, 45 minutes from Honolulu.

Jun 27, 2019It was an amazing house, worked well for all of my family of 8. The up stairs and down stairs was just perfect. The rain in the am made the house cooler which made it better. The animals were really cool walking around. The time of year that we went was mosquito so bring stuff for that for sure. Over all perfect
Jun 27, 2019The place is spacious, both floors have full kitchens, baths and at least one bedroom. Lots of room to stretch out, if you need some “me time”. Loved hearing the chickens in the morning and seeing the other animals run around. Simply remember to give PLENTY of travel time when planning your activities. While distances aren’t far, traffic can get extremely heavy during the day. Regardless, we LOVED staying here.

Jun 27, 2019We were so glad that we were advised to stay on Oahu's north shore, and that we found Tradewinds Ranch on Air B&B. This is the real Hawaii, where the local folks live, while also providing easy access to several must-see tourist destinations like beaches, the Hawaiian Cultural Center, state parks, surf towns, hiking, and shopping. The house was wonderful and breezy, super clean and well-appointed. We were able to cook a full traditional Thanksgiving dinner for 8 with no problem, which we ate on the outdoor dining table on the deck; the fact that folks at home were experiencing the coldest Thanksgiving on record, with wind chills below 0, was just a bonus ;-) Comfy couches and large TVs (with cable, WiFi, and a huge DVD collection) were perfect for rainy day movies, and a highlight was meeting the lovely and welcoming Joyce and Dave for a drink. The animals on the ranch were a fun touch, and the setting of the house, nestled in the jungle, was idyllic.

For a unique and relaxing Hawaiian experience, we couldn’t recommend a better place to stay. We can’t wait to come back and stay here again. Jun 27, 2019Having stayed in the busy Waikiki area in past times, Joyce's place was the exact opposite. It is country with a touch of luxury, with generous and spacious amenities, friendly neighbors, plenty of farm animals to feast your eyes on, and the list goes on. Dave hosted us for an evening of drinks and tasty fresh catch, and stimulating conversation! A shout out to Noah! Our party of six Would definitely stay there again
