We enjoyed staying at Ann's condo! The view was absolutely amazing and we loved that Makaha beach (a beautiful and quiet beach)was just a short 15 minute jog/2 minute drive away. The place itself was very clean and tidy and very spacious. The Towers are in a secluded area which was very quiet and the staff was extremely friendly. Groceries and places to eat were about a 10-15 minute drive away. Ann provided all the directions and info that we needed to get in and we had no difficulties. Would stay again!

Everything was good except for minor details like no iron, tub has stain and paint in it, pool closed at 8pm, bed is comfortable, view is awesome... Go to pokai bay and see uncle George.

this was an amazing place. the unit was fully furnished with an aloha hawaiian touch to it. the view made every morning waking up a pleasure. there was two boogie boards and two snorkel sets, extra towels, extra toiletries, and there were peacocks outside to make that real fantasy get-away come true. im still in wow mode.....thank you so much for having us and we plan on staying there again.

I can't say enough good things about the unit in Makaha Valley Towers. The view out the bedroom and living room was really great; plantation, mountains and ocean all in one. There was plenty of silver, glasses, plates and enough pots/pans to make full meals in a full kitchen (including dishwasher). This building has central air; semi-rare in Hawai'i. I turned it off on arrival (back on for the next person when I left) and the breeze kept the unit plenty cool for me. King size bed with extra blankets in one of the closets. Plenty of towels, there was soap and shampoo when I got there. Internet/wifi was fast, cable box in the living room with countless channel options, cable tv in both the living room and the bed room. I believe the couch was a sleeper sofa and the love seat reclined. 2 minutes down Kili Dr to as nice of beach as Oahu has to offer. Real calm water on the West side beaches in the summer months. Around 10 minutes to Wai'anae store or Tumura's, both grocery stores, 15 minutes to the northern end of Farrington Hwy with an easy/good hike out to Ka'ena Point, just over 20 min (w/out traffic) to Ko Olina. Communication with Lynn & Ann's house keeper H. Lee was good. Gave clear instructions of what to do, how to get in the grounds and how to get into the unit. Then association/office/guards are clear on the rules and will enforce them from what other people living at MVT have said, but I felt this was a good thing. This side of Oahu as close to 'Real Hawai'i' as you can find on Oahu as far as I'm concerned. I enjoyed it so much here I called a reality company and am thinking about buying one here instead of on the Gold Coast.

This was my first airbnb and If I could give this place 10/5...I definately would! The place is exactly depicted in photos and description. The view every morning was spectacular . We felt aa id were at Jurassic Park. Kitchen ware is available and very useful if your on a budget.Worth the stay if you dont want to be around the chaos in Waikiki ,but heads up do plan your day accordingly....traffic can happen on the way to the city randomly due to rimpac, tourist & wedding season.

It was an absolutely great experience. It is in a nice area and has a lot of room. We put the snorkel gear to good use and enjoyed the wonderful view. There was a coffee maker, rice cooker, microwave oven and cooking supplies. They have pamphlets about the area and have instructions for everything you need. Among the hustle and bustle of the rest of our trip it really did feel like a retreat during our stay in Waianae.

We enjoyed our time in this condo. It's an older home, but very well maintained. It was very clean and well stocked with everything that we could need, including extra blankets, beach towels and coolers. The hosts even offered us to use their snorkelling gear, which we did not get to, but perhaps on our next visit. We loved waking up to the stunning ocean and mountain views from the floor to ceiling windows that open onto a cozy lanai. The air conditioning was perfect after a hot day on the beach. The location was picturesque and while out of the big city it was close to fabulous beaches and hiking paths. The location was easy to find from the airport and the condo staff and security were friendly and helpful. Although we never met our hosts, they were quick to respond to any questions that we had. The Internet was reliable and we were thankful for the guest book that outlined great eats and attractions. Make sure you have a functioning mobile phone that works with one of the providers as the land line in the condo was not functioning during our visit. We really enjoyed our time and would gladly stay there again.

Wonderful condo off the beaten path with a spectacular beach and easy access to major attractions on the island. Communication with the owners prior to arrival was wonderful. Before we arrived we knew exactly how to get to the condo, get in and where to find the grocery stores on the way. The view from the condo is spectacular and the bed is super comfy! The condo had everything that we needed; beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, cooler, and high quality snorkel gear for two. The beach at the end of the road, which is a 15-20 minute walk or a 2 minute drive was one of our favorites on the island. At times it felt like a private beach and we even saw turtles swimming at the beach with us. The location is off the beaten path, something we loved, but has easy access to the north shore and all major attractions. A rental car is a must if you want to stay here. The complex has easy parking, is quiet and full of friendly people. Though we did not use the pool (a salt water pool) and BBQ area, both were easy to access. I highly recommend staying here and hope to return in the future!

Communications with Lynn & Ann were terrific. I heard from them even before I asked any questions--they were quick to send confirmation and to provide check-in details. The place was everything that the write-up and reviews said it would be and more. The view was spectacular! As others said "just like Jurassic Park". It was quaint to hear the peacocks in the early morning hours (we kinda missed it after we left) The condo was clean, spacious and comfortable. They had items there that those traveling from places other then the island would not be able to bring--- cooler, beach mat, snorkeling equipment and beach chair (the beach chairs were a very pleasant surprise. . . . we got to see some great sunsets in comfort!). We were greeted daily by helpful and friendly staff at the main gate and in the office. The one slight drawback is that the surrounding area is not very commercialized--restaurant and stores are scarce. However with planning, we were able to use the BBQ grills at poolside. I would highly recommend this property--it far exceeded our expectations!! If there were 6 stars to rate the condo I would give it!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Lynn & Ann's condo. The apartment has great views both of the mountains and the ocean. The complex is well maintained, and the staff we spoke to were very kind and friendly. The pool area is really nice. We didn't use the barbeque area which is located close to the pool area, but it looked very nice. It only took 5min to the beach by car, which we believe you need to have when you stay in this condo. It took around 1 hour to get to the condo from Honolulu. We felt at home inside of the apartment, it was well cleaned and had all we needed during our stay. The only thing we could suggest Lynn and Ann to add to the kitchen are a kettler for the morning tea. The condo looks to have the original furnitures and details, which is so beautiful and we liked it a lot. The bed was very comfortable. The communications with Lynn and Ann was good.

Waianae is on the West coast, leeward, which is drier and less windy and less waves. If you're a snorkler or diver it's angreqt location. This part of the island is less developed and things are mellow. There are some great beaches - we went snorkeling and surfing (beginners). We also visited many other spots around the island, the driving from waianae was lengthy due to less developed road system. The condo was great, provided ample space for a couple. It was overall very clean though some upgrades (kitchen) would be nice. Checkin was very easy, on site staff very friendly and helpful, the information provided by the host was detailed and accurate. I can recommend this place and the host.

This was our first trip to Oahu, and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. We never met Lynn & Ann, but we have no doubt that had we had any issues, it would be an easy solve, especially since they provided contact information for us. At first glance the apartment was like a retro beach bungalow. There were mirrors everywhere and made the place feel very spacious and bright. I loved it and don't think they need to make any upgrades at all because everything was fully functional. We used the full kitchen a lot and appreciated having everything we needed. We shopped for groceries before arriving and was glad we did. We also used the bbq grill a few times, that area was clean and easy to use. We also used the beach chairs a lot, but didn't get a chance to use the boogie boards or snorkel gear. Everyone at the condo was extremely nice. The grounds are very well maintained and while the rules were a bit strict (we got a noticed on our door for parking our car on the line once), we appreciated how it's mostly for everyone's safety, rather than just for having rules. Makaha Beach down Kili Drive was a big highlight for staying on the leeward side. The beach had calm waters in the center and surfable waves to each end. The location was also good for exploring the other more remote beaches like Yokohama Bay and hiking to Ka'ena Point. The drawback is that the drive to other coasts was usually upwards of an hour. Even driving to Kapolei took around 40mins. Despite the drive, we were very happy with the stay. The neighborhood leading up to the condo was full of tent cities and a lot of homeless people, so that was sad to see, but we never felt unsafe. Tamura's on the way in is a great place to get poke! All in all, we loved our stay in Oahu, and this condo apartment made our trip that much more enjoyable!

A perfect place if you like peace and quiet. Beautiful ocean and hillside views. Very comfortable bed, and great shower and bath. We drove all around the island and always returned home to sunshine. Makaha beach is fabulous. Thankfully, it is not listed in the guide books. However, if you like to fight for a space on the beach, cocktails on tap and shopping (which we don't!) head for Waikiki!

We stayed at Lynn and Ann's place for a week. The communication beforehand and during was very quick and thorough. The view from the balcony was amazing. The whole front wall is glass, so there was lots of light too. There was great curtains, so you weren't bothered by the light in the morning. The Complex is very well run by the management team. They are very friendly and helpful, as well as very careful about who comes and goes on the property. We felt very safe there. Although the apartment is older and has not been updated, it is in very good shape for it's age. Everything works well, from appliances to plumbing. There is "Central Air Conditioning" which is a HUGE plus. It is efficient and not LOUD! All the gear that you need for the beach is included too. The pool is lovely and the Barbeque area is clean and has high end Weber Barbeques, and picnic tables to eat at. People tend to congregate over cooking. We met most of the travellers down there. When we arrived, we went to Tamura's Grocery store and stocked up for the week, for only $200! We spent that in Waikiki in restaurants in 1 1/2 days! The area, Makaha, is quite isolated. Although you can get the bus, you really need a car. We didn't mind because the travel time to other places was worth coming back to out apartment paradise. It is 1 1/2 hours to the Northshore or the East side, an hour to Waikiki and only 1/2 an hour to Ko Olina. Because Makaha is on the "dry" side, we had almost no rain, except the huge storm that hit all of the islands at once! Our favourite beaches were Keawaula/Yokohama a 10 minute drive north of the apartment. You can swim, sunbathe and snorkel with locals and tourists, but never very many in total at one time. People are super friendly. The other was Ko Olina. It is a 4 Lagoon Resort 1/2 hour south where 3 big hotels are. But, you can use the beaches there, they are not private, and there is public parking for free. They are lovely, calm and beautiful. And you can get a restaurant fix if you need it. There are very few restaurants in the area of the apartment. Sorry for the long winded review, but we just loved our stay at Lynn and Ann's place and are trying to encourage others to have such a nice holiday as us! we will be back.

The best place to stay in Oahu if you want to avoid the crowds and noise of Honolulu. The complex is well maintained, secure and quiet at nights. The apartment is large enough for 2 people, the king bed is extremely comfortable, and the carpeted floors are nice to walk on. The kitchen appliances are a bit dated, but functioning without any issues.

Lynn and Ann, and their on-island contact, Hope, were amazing hosts. Very quick to help us with anything that we needed or any questions that we had. The apartment is extremely spacious and comfortable, especially the bed! The views out the front and on the small patio are absolutely INCREDIBLE and a joy to wake up to each morning. The only real downside is the location - the towers are in a pretty remote location without many decent restaurants or stores nearby; to get to Honolulu/Waikiki, the North Shore beaches, or basically anywhere else we went was at least a 30 mile drive.

A very clean and pleasant apartment. Fabulous views and the comfiest bed ever. Which after a 27 hour journey from the UK was very welcome. However, we were very disappointed in the area. Just down the road is the largest homeless camp full of addicts. Due to the poor area there are no restaurants of any quality and the local 7-11 was robbed at gunpoint during our stay. The supermarkets are very run down. Also don't expect to sunbathe much. The mountains attract heavy could whilst the rest of the island is in beautiful sunshine. The sun drops at 3pm and doesn't have any nice evening sun at all. The apartment is in need of modernisation the kitchen is firmly in the 70's.

Great location, quiet and set with a beautiful mountain range as a backdrop. Lynn and Ann's condo makes you feel right at home the minute you step inside the front door. The décor they chose for their place is of a high standard, with the bed and lounges really comfortable. Everything we needed (and more) was there for our use. This made our stay even more enjoyable than we has hoped for. We know where to stay the next time we visit beautiful Oahu. Would recommend Lynn and Ann's place to everyone.

If you are looking for a quiet area to stay away from the bustle of the all the tourists and attractions, this is the spot for you! The view from the apartment is nothing short of beautiful and the beaches in the area are wonderful and not as busy. The lifestyle on this side of the island can be a little nomadic but honestly the people were friendly. Thanks Again Lynn and Ann!

Lynn & Ann's place is as close to my idea of perfection as I can imagine. If you enjoy the hustle, bustle, noise, crowds, honking horns and overpriced food on Waikiki, then this IS NOT the right place for you. This place is situated up on a hill on the edge of beautiful Makaha Valley. One wall is covered completely in glass sliding doors, and offers spectacular views of the valley and out into the West ocean. It was really well stocked with all of the amenities you would expect. The security and admin staff at the location were all very friendly and helpful. We had never been to Hawaii before, and were unsure about where to stay, what to do, etc. Our biggest priority was to have a quiet and secure place to stay, and access to secluded beautiful beaches. We could not have picked a better spot. Thank you Lynn and Ann!!

Good price, nice pool, quiet. We would recommend Lynn and Ann's place for those looking to relax and enjoy Oahu on a budget. A car is needed though, even to get to the beach.

If you have never seen the splendor of Makaha Valley, you need to put it on your bucket list. There is no better view of the valley than the sweeping vista of mountains to the sea from this lovely condo. I’ve been in many apartments in the Makaha Towers and this has one of the top views there! While it’s not newly updated it is spacious, well maintained, quiet, clean, and comfortable. Central air keeps it nice and cool. The swimming pool is salt water, so low chlorine for pleasant exercise. About a mile from great beaches, and close to hiking. The Makaha Towers are well run, with many friendly and helpful staff. While the rooms are handicapped accessible, unfortunately the pool is not. This condo is a great place to stay, the hosts were easy to communicate with and they outfitted the place completely. I will definitely return whenever I’m back in Makaha.

The Unit although dated, was very clean. The views there are picturesque. The property Staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach is a lot less crowded than waikiki. My wife and I enjoyed our stay there.

Cozy stay in Makaha Valley embedded in a picturesque landscape and stunning nature. Amazing hosts, quiet complex with awesome saltwater pool and state of the art, ready2use barbecue grills.

This is a great place to relax, the complex feels very secure and staff are helpful and friendly, good base to travel from as long as you have a car.

This place would be perfect for a couple, with a car, who want to cook for themselves every night, don’t care to meet local people or experience cultural events, and whose idea of a good time is relaxing by the pool with a bunch of other tourists or at the beach.

    Jun 27, 2019
  • Jackie

Most people will call this dated and a few things are but we didn't care, it was immaculately clean, comfortable, quiet and safe. As many reviewers have said, it's a fair drive to get to most places on the island and traffic can be crazy busy in rush hour but the drive is gorgeous. You just need to leave time to get somewhere. The bus system comes regularly but it's a long ride to Honolulu if that's where you need to go. Tamura's grocery has real good prices and a great selection. For those looking for chain restaurants, it's about a half hour drive but local restaurants are a great option.

The views from the condo were breathe taking. The property was well maintained and the staff was, friendly. We loved watching the beautiful peacock family and were able to take some great pictures. Lynn and Ann had thought of everything and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. Would highly recommend this airbnb.

Beautiful condo with everything you could need! On the 10th floor with gorgeous views of the ocean and mountains, peacocks love to hang around the property and make for a great sight! The property has a swimming pool that was very clean and accessible, no issues with noise or rude tenants. Security was very nice and tight, we felt very safe. Many items were provided in the condo including basic toiletries, beach chairs, and snorkeling gear! A few things to be aware of that should NOT deter you from staying here-- getting in/out of this side of the island is difficult as there is only 1 way in and out. Plan on at least a 30 minute drive out before hitting the highway, when traffic is low. At peak traffic times you are looking at a 1 hour 30 minute drive to Honolulu or North Shore. Traffic in that area gets bad as there are many schools along this one road. The beaches in this area get crowded with locals and many homeless people. Weekends wouldn't be a good time to go to the beach on this side of the island but on the weekdays it was serene, clean, and everything you could want!! I am so glad we made the decision to stay here and are looking forward to our return!!

  • Jordan & Leon

Be aware of the location, it's a drive to get to any other part of the island. With that being said, I would stay here again if I got the chance. Beautiful scenery, peacocks everywhere, staff were wonderful. Close to some very nice, intimate beaches. The place is perfect for a single person or a couple, me and my husband loved it. Kitchen was stocked with everything you need to whip up a meal (besides the groceries of course) Lots of towels were provided, and some good beach gear (snorkeling gear, boogie boards, umbrella, etc) The buildings are very easy to navigate, this apartment being in core 2. Laundry was easy, parking was easy, the salt water pool is great. Will definitely consider staying here on our next trip to Oahu!

This condo is excellent. The view is unbelievable and the breeze was magnificent. Screen door allows fresh air flow through the unit. The pool was heated and never crowded. Nice cook out area. Good security. The hosts communicated clearly. There is a great snorkeling beach just a couple of minutes down the hill. We would certainly stay here again!

This place is beautiful located between a Mountain View and the beach! Very quiet and romantic, you open up the curtains and sliding door to Hawaii’s raw beauty. The condo was clean and very comfortable had no issues or no complaints! Would recommend this place and the staff are super friendly and the wild peacocks made it feel even more tropical!

  • Peter

Great view of ocean and mountains, most apartment is 70,s decor with great kitchen amenities and well supplied with linens and towels and toiletries Since you are in the middle of where most Hawaiians live, you get a good feel of the local culture and not the typical tourist Waikiki exposure. The grounds are well patrolled by security and gives you a safe feeling walking around. In 10 minute driving distance you will find Tamura super market, Starbucks and local eateries. If you are looking for high end or fancy restaurants this is not the place for it, you need to drive out to find it. We did lots of home cooking and used the gas lit bbq,s around the pool. You will need a car if you want to get around also for the beaches, which are nice and quiet compare to the tourist areas. We did experience the WiFi to be slow in the apartment and not responsive ,I needed to be connected for some future work assignments , but that is the only downside from our overall experience.

Beautiful spot! Wild peacocks! Gas grills! Any beach accessory you could need or want! Great pressure in the shower, friendly staff, & comfy (but firm) bed! Pillows could be updated, as they were pretty worn, but all-in-all a great stay!!

Good affordable place as base to explore leeward side. Good amenities, nice pool and BBQ area. Immediate area is a bit isolated so a car is required. Building security is strict with parking privileges and the main building office has limited hours so can be slightly inconvenient for guests accustomed to ease of access and those with planned itineraries. However, building staff are generally pleasant and helpful. Overall, the view, amenities, pool, nice bed and thoughtful touches outweigh any of the minor inconveniences mentioned. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

this place is amazing. great views of the makaha valley and western shore and tons of amazing places to eat nearby. we used the space as more of a home base but no one spot on the island is more than an hours drive (traffic permitting as you do hit a snag during rush hour) but I couldn't imagine a better spot for our stay.

Great place. Only down side is location if your activities are elsewhere on the island. Traffic can be bad at different times of the day. Still workable just need to plan ahead.

The location is remote and perfect for getting away from the busy tourist area. 30 minutes down the road is the Ko'Olina area, which has great restaurants and beaches. The staff at the building are amazing!!! The unit is clean and the view is stunning, can't get over the mountains.

As advertised. It’s very clean, nearly everything needed is provided. Nice touch that there’s a private pool and bbq area available. Staff for the building is very friendly and helpful. It’s a bit of a hike in and out everyday to get to and from excursions, etc. as it is on the west end of the island, but is a minor issue. The building is fantastic and the view is gorgeous. Highly recommended.

My husband and I chose to spend our honeymoon here. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. I have been visiting Makaha for the past 15 years, always staying at a beachfront condo. However, after our stay at Lynn’s place, we will never return to the other condo! The hospitality at the towers is beyond measure. Check in is quick and easy, and the office staff makes you feel very welcomed. The condo itself was sparkling clean and had everything you could possibly need. There is access to washer and dryer, so you are able to pack light. The views from the condo are breathtaking. You can’t beat waking up to the view. The beach is a quick 2-3 min drive to a fabulous beach. I could go on and on. We’re already looking at when we can go back!

Great view of the surrounding countryside and ocean off in the distance. Security is A+.

The apartment and the whole premises are very well maintained. The apartment is clean, comfortable, and it has amazing views of mountains and the ocean. It’s also close to the beach.
