This is a cozy, studio-sized apartment. Room was clean, neat and tidy upon arrival and the room is as described. While the building has been around for awhile (it's old), the location is situated in the quieter part of Waikiki which is perfect. The beaches are just around the corner and plenty of shops to buy food/drink. Teddy's Burgers on the ground floor was the BEST! The view of Diamond Head from the room's balcony is FAB and you can see the water and beach too. Definitely loved the views from the room. Note that the bar located on the 2nd level can be loud at night but I closed the balcony doors which mostly shut out the noise. (I mean, it's Waikiki...there'll be noise at night). Rob met me at the front entry when I checked in and was great at getting me settled in. He was also very fast in responding to a question about the room and was very approachable. This apartment is good if you are a solo traveller (possibly a couple, but you would need to be comfortable in a studio-sized place), and want to stay for a few days in the quieter part of town. The features in the place are a bit worn, but everything worked and it was perfectly fine for me and I enjoyed my stay here. Thanks.

Jun 27, 2019I was able to make the reservation quickly. Thank you! The location and view was superb, and having a kitchenette with a two-burner stove was a key reason I booked this place. The only negative aspect of our stay was the extremely uncomfortable bed--way too soft, practically folding in half when sat upon. :( It affected our overall satisfaction, hence the two stars.
Jun 27, 2019Everything as described in the listing. The view is absolutely incredible!! Can see diamond head, the zoo (elephants!), as well as the ocean. Just around the corner from the beach. Very easy and a nice stay.

Jun 27, 2019Pictures were very accurate I loved the patio thank you for your extra effort in cleaning and doing the windows I'm swifted the floors every day the bed could be a little harder I did turn it around would seem to make it better I had a delightful stay and would look forward to renting your unit again thank you PS a Fresh coat of paint could be suggested

Jun 27, 2019We stayed for five nights, here are the pluses and minuses: +view from balcony and roof top fantastic +kitchen well stocked +beach towels, beach chairs convenient for short walk to the beach +AC works great (blocks out noise from the street) +bus stops within walking distance +ABC store and LuLu's restaurant close by for food +dresser and closet (with hangers) nice for longer stays -bed is uncomfortable -Street can be noisy
Jun 27, 2019The scenery is beautiful! I think this is in a great place, close to everything and very convenient. The bed was very soft but can get used to it. While there is a kitchen, the stove wasn't really powerful and not enough pottery, so cooking wasn't really easy but one can manage. Other than that I can highly recommend this place! I would definitely go back!

Jun 27, 2019Mark was very accommodating, I couldn't thank him enough. I was able to book his apartment last minute and same day. It is located at the edge of the main strip of Waikiki Beach. Everything is within walking distance and the view was spectacular! I highly recommend both Mark as a host and his apartment!
Jun 27, 2019This is a great location which makes up for the little bit dated amenities. But the welcome was very nice, service was great too. It is really a worthwhile place to stay at. The view is great as well as the proximity to the beach, the zoo, lots of restaurants and all of Waikiki within walking distance. Great spot.
Jun 27, 2019We were on our Honeymoon & what a great Location to be in. The heart of Waikiki Beach, we loved walks on the beach. The zoo directly across from us, was the Best experience for us. Best restaurants down stairs who can ask for anything else. We did not rent a car but this location was walkable to shopping food & Waikiki beach, the shuttle picked us up if we wanted to go around the Island, was a dream vacay. Mahalo. Jul 27, 2019The room was great - not luxurious but perfect for what we needed - a place close to the beach and Waikiki Strip, with a small kitchenette so we could prepare some of out own meals. The views were great - both of the beach and Diamond Head. Not a lot of space but enough to feel comfortable. There is a bar on the 2nd floor but we didn't hear any noise from it - nor from the street except for a few very loud trucks. Bed is a little soft but we were so tired fro each day's activities that it didn't hamper our sleep.
Jun 27, 2019Our stay at Mark's place was a very good one. The check-in was easy & everyone working there was very nice. Mark and his staff were quick & responsive to our needs. The place is very nice having everything that we needed. The room is located within a hotel. The hotel staff was very nice and friendly. They offer parking for small fee and is monitored. The view from the balcony was absolutely beautiful. The view from left to right included Diamond Head, the Honolulu Zoo, and Wikiki Beach. Diamond Head is a short drive, the zoo is across the street and there is a shaded park outside of it to relax, and the beach is a block away. Along the beach is lots of places to shop and eat. We walked to the Hawaiian Hilton Village (about a 15 minute walk) where we joined others on the beach to enjoy the Friday night fireworks, which were awesome! Kudos to Mark and his staff. Would stay again.
Jun 27, 2019We stayed at Mark's room at the Waikiki Grand Hotel in rooms 805 and 811. Mark was very easy to communicate with and very helpful. I liked just having a key code to open the room instead of an actual key. We loved the view from the 10th floor community balcony. We watched a few sunsets up there. Spectacular. We stayed in room 805 the first night. There was a small problem with the room, which was not Mark's fault at all, and unfortunately there would not be a Technician out to fix it for a couple days. I thought it was no big deal and we would carry on but to our surprise Mark offered to switch us to room 811 across the hall in the same Hotel. We were amazed by his generosity and very grateful! Both rooms are very nice and clean and well stocked. Both rooms had Beach gear, like boogie boards, flippers, snorkeling gear etc. But room 811 has a view over the Honolulu Zoo and Diamond Head and of course Waikiki Beach. If you stay at one of Mark's rooms at the Waikiki Grand Hotel we would definitely recommend getting one with a view. The location of this hotel is awesome. One block from the Beach! Across the street from the Honolulu Zoo! 7 minute bus ride on the #2 bus to Diamond Head, which is a great hike! Spectacular views! Get there early they open at 6am. 30 minute bus ride, with great views along the way, to Hanauma Bay on Bus #22. The best snorkeling experience on the island I'm sure. Also if you stay on the #22 bus for a little longer, past Hanauma Bay is the Sea Life Park bus stop and if you cross the road there then you will find a little place call Makapu'u Beach! This is a very secluded beach. When we went there was only maybe 10 people on the beach. Very scenic! There is a great restaurant on the corner near the Waikiki Grand called Lulu's, which has great breakfast at decent prices and also has a large section overlooking the beach. Also on the first floor of the Waikiki Grand is Teddy's Burgers. They have a very good burger. On the second floor of the Waikiki Grand is night club called Hulu's. Hulu's had a great show the Saturday night we were there. All and all we loved the location of this hotel. The fact that it is at the very end of Waikiki Beach made if feel less crowded. Its a phenomenal location for sure. Oh and there is Diamond Head Luau which is a 10 minute walk from the Waikiki Grand Hotel. That was a blast. Great food and fire dancing and everything you can think of that a Luau would have. Amazing. Things to avoid are the taxis! Wow $50 to get from the airport to Waikiki. Jun 27, 2019Great unit that suited our needs perfectly! The private deck is great for relaxation or head up to the 10th floor for a wide-open experience. We appreciated that there were beach chairs / boogie boards available to use. Also, this unit is convenient to everything you could ever need, but allows you to avoid the crowds. Make sure to check out Mimi's Empanadas just around the corner on Cartwright! Also, be sure to look for free parking on Monsarrat Ave. Will definitely stay again on our next trip!

Jun 27, 2019When we arrived in Honolulu on Jan 25, 2018 we called the guest host from the airport as we had been instructed to do. We were shocked and horrified to be told they did not have a reservation for us. This in spite of the fact I had received a communication from them earlier in the day telling me how the key pad was coded. By the time we arrived at the Waikiki Grand (which is where his Airbnb is located) they had obtained a hotel room with an ocean view for us. We were told our reservation “didn’t make it from one system to another “ We were told it was an upgrade but looking at the pictures of Mark’s Airbnb, we had reserved and paid in Sept 2017, it was not. It was marginally adequate- at least we weren’t on the street!! Once we asked they supplied us with an induction cooktop, a pot, frying pan (that didn’t work on induction), some utensils, dish towels, beach towels and mats All we wanted was the room we reserved! We expected more from Airbnb based on our previous experiences! This has clouded our view of Airbnb and not sure we will use it again! In hindsight I should have contacted Airbnb immediately for support, rather than waiting until our vacation was over

Jun 27, 2019Mark's place is very near Waikiki beach. Malls, restaurants and grocery stores are nearby/walking distance. We booked 1 room for my husband and I, but we had problems with tv & wifi connectivity, so we were transferred (upgraded) immediately to a room with balcony. Thanks again Mark for sharing your space with us. We had a grand time in Honolulu.

Jun 27, 2019Great studio apartment in a hotel. There were no other buildings blocking the view, just Diamond Head and the beach to wake up to every morning. Would definitely recommend it as a nice place to stay near the beach, restaurants, and shops of Waikiki. Ample parking nearby and even some free spots on the street by the zoo! Awesome value for a trip to Oahu.

Jun 27, 2019This room is in a fantastic location just a hop, skip and a jump to the beach which we really really enjoyed. It was fantastic to just stroll to the beach and back without too much effort. Starbucks is on the corner and handy plus the bar on the second floor of the building has a great happy hour(s) with great cocktails. This is not someones home however and lacks a few things in relation to that. It is an old property and a little tired in our opinion. It is airconditioned which was nice to come back to everyday however half the balcony is flooded from airconditioner which is not great when your towels and swimmers blow in to the water while they are meant to be drying. I would stay in this building again as the location was fantastic however maybe not in this unit.

We loved sitting on the balcony admiring the views and enjoying the beach and local restaurants. The accommodation was perfect for our holiday. It had all the amenities we needed. We would definitely stay here again!

Jun 27, 2019The view. It was beautiful and definitely worth it. We were able to wake up and go to bed looking out at diamond head and the beach. It’s definitely something worth experiencing and remembering. But! After our first night, the neighboring guests next to us and above us were loud. At one point, the people next to us seemed to be arguing for a couple hours early in the morning which woke us up and the people above us kept moving what sounded like a table and chairs across the floor. It caused our room to creak with the movement throughout the day. The restaurant below us on the second floor also played their music loud which made things difficult when you’re trying to go to bed early to get an early start the next day. Other then things that were out of our real control, the room was nice and the bed was really comfortable. It was so soft and welcoming after a busy day of exploring the town. Either way, we both really enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much.
Jun 27, 2019I wouldn't stay here again. Loud noise from the street, from the nightclub below, and from the cheap window unit AC. Was wishing I'd brought earplugs. Sliding door feels like it has no rollers, bathroom door doesn't close all the way, and handle falls off the louver windows. No fan in the bathroom. No screens on the windows. We both woke up with mosquito bites. Shower temp is unpredictable: I gave up waiting and just got in the luke warm shower. The view is beautiful though, and the location is convenient. If the louvers were replaced with casement windows that seal out the noise, and the AC was replaced with a split system or something quieter (+ a few other maintenance fixes) , then this could be a lovely place to stay.

Jun 27, 2019Amazing view and prefect location! LGBT friendly bar on the second floor. But I'm competently agree with review below (Joe, December 2018) apartment need some improvement. Also we had some issues with the staff on lobby. First of all on the third day of stay they tried to move us from this apartment to the BASEMENT!!! I had two pretty nasty conversations with different Grand Hotel representatives. After we refused to move to anywhere they made new trouble for us. When we came to the hotel in the evening our parking lot was occupied. The employee on the lobby said: - it was another mistake you do not suppose to have parking spot because you did not warn manager while you check in. But I did, I already paid and got specific parking lot and permit. So after some arguing she gave me permit for another parking lot. All this problems was really unexpected. Just be aware.
