Neighborhood Overview
The east village is a vibrant, exciting and very safe neighborhood. It's surrounded by the best restaurants, nightlife, cafes, shopping and union square and Washington square park is a five minute walk away. You can easily walk to many other popular neighborhoods in NYC such as the west village, Chelsea, and gramercy.

I was looking for a place in an interesting neighborhood that allowed me to rest when I wanted, and Christine's apartment was perfect. It has a great location, is very quiet, has great air conditioning, and has blackout curtains that allowed me to control the light. The last three are critical if you plan to stay up late or are in town for an interview (like I was). Christine herself was super, super helpful -- we mixed up arrival times and she adapted gracefully, and when I forgot a phone charger she very helpfully agreed to meet me again to retrieve it. I highly recommend both Christine and this apartment and I'd stay there again without any hesitation. Thanks Christine!
Jun 27, 2019As a host, Christine is amazing! Responsive, welcoming, made everything logistical very easy! She really cares about creating a special experience for her guests! Her place is lovely, sweet, clean, organized and comfortable! and the location is perfect!!....safe, fun neighborhood; easy to walk to anything you need or want, or, the subway steps away! Being in the east village is a great way to really experience living in NY! We will definitely hope Christine's place is available for our next NYC visit! (thank you Christine!)

Jun 27, 2019Christina was such a nice host! Easy communication before and during our stay. Her studio is clean and offers everything you need. The neighbourhood is great, you easily reach L-train, that transports you into Brooklyn or the heart of Manhattan. But the neighbourhood itself is so good and quite relaxed compared to the rest of Manhattan ;). Still, there are shops and diners and everything you need.
Jun 27, 2019Me and my girlfriend spent a week in Christine's apartment. The apartment is exactly as it appears in photographs, really nice for a holidays. It is located in a quiet neighborhood and very well connected by public transport (5 min. walk from Union Square!!!!). We found it neat and clean, and Christine was really nice and helpful. Finally we really spent a great period in NY!!!
Jun 27, 2019The apartment is a cozy and bright space. Perfect for a great pit stop in the middle of your busy day and a great, quiet place to sleep. We never met Christine but she made sure that we were well situated during our stay. She made sure that we were handed off the keys and also gave us some great suggestions for places to visit during our stay. She was also very easy to reach in case we had any questions. Jun 27, 2019Great base for a fun week in Manhattan. Well connected travel wise and there is so much to do just within the east village itself. Christine was very welcoming and gave us a great list of suggestions for places to eat and drink. Would definitely stay here again if I returned to NYC.
Jun 27, 2019Christine has a genuinely welcoming spirit, is eager to please, and her place makes for a very nice temporary pied-à-terre. The studio has afternoon sun, and it's even pretty bright in the morning with light coming in from the courtyard. Functional kitchenette, larger-than-expected bathroom, no street noise and just occasional awareness of neighbors.

Jun 27, 2019The place was clean, quiet, and located In a nice neighborhood. I would stay at this place again. Chtistine responded promptly to text messages and gave recommendations on where to go. One tip, ask how to use the shower. It worked fine I just didn't initially know how to turn it on.

Christine was very responsive to our texts and emails answering any questions we had before and during our stay. Overall, we had a great stay at Christine's and would recommend her studio to others.
Jun 27, 2019Christine's studio is great! it is at a very good location, close to subway L line, bus stop m14a/d, 10 min walk to trader joes/whole food market and filled with restaurants! Although it is at 3rd floor with no elevator if you are not carrying much luggage it is not a problem. Christine is always quick and nice to response, additionally, she gave us lots of great advices about restaurants in the east village. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Jun 27, 2019Christine communicated very well before & during my trip, she was flexible with check-in/out times, and was kind enough to email me restaurant recommendations. Her apartment was just as described--simple, quiet, and clean. Conveniently located just across the street from the L train. The only downside was the 3 flights of stairs, which served very necessary, especially after all the eating I did on my 5 days in NY lol. Will definitely request to stay at Christine's place again on my next trip to the city!

The location was key - good restaurant and food options close by, but also centrally located within the city to explore neighborhoods and sights to the north and south. The apartment was just as described - a clean, quiet, centrally-located studio. She communicated clearly and quickly, and checked in half-way through our stay to make sure we had what we needed. If we return to NY, we'd love to stay here again.
Jun 27, 2019We loved Christine's place, which was as described. Very comfortable, well located and super clean. Christine was easy to communicate with and was very helpful with anything we needed. She also gave us some tips where to eat. It was quite hot during our stay and when the temperature went up she immediately texted me to use the aircon, which saved our sweet night sleep! If we go back to NYC, we would love to stay in Christine's place again.

Jun 27, 2019This apartment is a great value. It's not fancy, but it has a small kitchen and a nicely remodeled bathroom. The bed is very comfortable (it's a full/double size so for two people to sleep on it is cozy). Also, we were there on a warm & humid weekend in June and the AC kept us cool at night. The location is great and communication with Christine was easy - she even let us check out a little later at the last minute which was super helpful.
Jun 27, 2019Me and my girlfriend had a great stay in the apartment. Everything is very close, public transport, grocery store, pharmacy etc. Good A/C and the bed felt comfortable. The only thing you need to watch out for is to check the fridge settings, the tempature was set to max and we didnt notice the first day so the vegatables and fruits froze (but the beer got really cold which was great after a long day). Great location - would definitely stay again!
Jun 27, 2019We were visiting New York from Wednesday to Sunday, and Christine's place was a great and Central place to stay. The building looked a bit older from the outside, but the apartment itself was clean and quiet, and the A/C was a huge bonus as it was HOT. We took the subway everywhere, and found our location to be really accessible. There are also some cool and unique restaurants just a few streets away (about a 15 min walk), and we were able to cook breakfast ourselves in the kitchenette, which was a bonus for the budget. The newly renovated bathroom was really nice to have, too! Christine was very responsive when we had questions - we would definitely stay here again!

Updated bathroom was awesome. Entire flat was super clean. Wifi worked very well. All in all, great place, great location and good value. Thanks Christine!

Jun 27, 2019Christine's apartment cannot be beat for staying in Manhattan! It's in a prime location for anything you might want to do in the city (with public transportation nearby) and yet is surprisingly quiet, relaxing, and homey in the midst of it all. Christine is also a perfect host, and she was extremely flexible with our uncertain travel plans to and from the city. I found the apartment larger than expected and in great condition. The AC couldn't totally beat the above average summer temperatures (90F+), but it did keep it cool enough for restful sleep when we got back to the apartment after adventures in the city during the day.

The subway was less than a block away, there were plenty of little shops to pick up snacks and drinks nearby. The key transfer was easy. Christine sent us a great list of restaurants in the area and was extremely responsive to texts while we were there. Highly recommend this little gem!

Jun 27, 2019small 3rd floor walk up right in the east village. this is the same apartment you'll find in all of the metropolises throughout the world—if that's what you're looking for, (i am) then this is it. the space feels extremely civilized, there's a table to eat, a comfortable bed to sleep in, mirrors to check your clothes, and a merciful AC unit to keep your body from turning into a puddle in the summer humidity and heat. if you're looking for a cavernous room with an immense and imposing TV staring at you while you sleep, find a hotel, they're all like that now. if you want a break from that, this is your place.

Jun 27, 2019Small apartment , neat place and a very nice renovated bathroom. Need to go up 3 flights of steps to get to apartment. Be careful if you have heavy luggages. Unfortunate incident when some authority came knocking for room inspection, did not open door as unsure if this is a legit inspection. Christine is very helpful and agreed for cancellation of stay.

Jun 27, 2019I stayed at Christine's apartment for a few days (September, 2017) and it was, as other reviews have indicated, very good. The location is close to Union Square, the subway, and numerous shops and restaurants. Air conditioning works well (cools the entire apartment quickly), the bed was very comfortable, there is a good-size closet and dresser to use, and it's quiet. WiFi worked perfectly. Communication with the hosts was easy, efficient and friendly. A great find for anybody visiting NYC, and a definite recommendation.

It's as announced: a bright, clean space with good AC and well-functioning wi-fi. The location is perfect for traveling around Manhattan, and has many good restaurants close by (Mogador, for instance). Christine's co-host Andrew welcomed us at the apartment and gave us a nice introduction to the apt and the city. It has my warm recommendation!

Jun 27, 2019Christine was great. i really don't need much as far as help around the city, and I didn't want a swank place so Christine's was great. its got the basics, its clean the shower has great pressure and its a quiet building. someone in the building likes to make curry! Christine was super accommodating getting me checked both in a and out. location is great, the neighborhood has everything you need and theres easy access to everywhere. great place to stay especially if your just looking for a place to sleep.

La disponibilita' e la cortesia di Christine è impeccabile. Abbiamo Fatto il check in molto tardi ed inoltre non avendo altre prenotazioni per il giorno del check out ci ha lasciato l'appartamento fino alle 16,00. Tuttavia l'alloggio non è dei migliori. Poco curato nei dettagli e soprattutto la cucina non da una buona impressione.

Jun 27, 2019We looked at a few apartments before booking Christine’s place and I’m glad we chose to stay at Christine’s. Great location a few stops away on the subway to Time Square and grand central station which helped us go and explore NYC with ease. Apartment was cold when we arrived due to the radiators coming on at certain times. However we spoken to Christine and with quick responses she was on hand to facilitated our needs promptly. Great communicate throughout our stay - couldn’t ask for anything more. A lot of restaurants, shops on the street which is perfect if you want to quickly grab any amenities and if you want to eat in I would highly recommend Joe’s Pizza - you can go get it or have it delivered! Clean and tidy plus the bed super comfy. As it’s an apartment block don’t expect it to be quiet but this adds to the experience of New York. I would definitely recommend for anymore looking to stay.
Jun 27, 2019I usually don't do pro-con lists for reviews, but we had some difficulty with this airbnb. Overall, everything was fine, but I do not think we would come back. I will say that Christine was friendly. Pros- -Cannot hear a lot of street sound -Nice bathroom -Christine is very quick to get back to us with all of our messages Cons- -The hallway leading into the apartment smelled very bad, and the smell would seep into the apartment -Check-in is listed as 12PM but was not clean until 6PM -No control over the heating that we could tell, though there is a small space heater provided -Possible to hear neighbors every movement
Jun 27, 2019I wish I had seen the recent review stating the pros and cons of this apartment. I would not have chosen to stay here. I have no idea where the rest of the reviews came from - the rave reviews are confusing. I'm going to take the same approach as the previous reviewer - pros and cons. Pros Good communication from Christine Great location. Near amazing restaurants and steps to the subway Remodeled, clean bathroom and kitchen Cons The building the apartment is in is dirty and has a horrible odor, which permeates the studio. The linens are old. The towels are mismatched, as if they were friends' or family's castoffs - it was odd. The pillows were old, again, as if they were castoffs from somewhere. I contacted Christine about this, and she reimbursed us for buying some new pillows. The pillow and linen comments may seem picky, but, combined with the smells, the dirty pillows just made everything feel dirty - even though the apartment itself is clean. All in all, we would not stay in this apartment again.

We could also easily communicate with Christine through the airbnb app. Her place is in the middle of an appartment building and you can easily hear the neighbours, but not more than expected. Overall Christine’s place is perfect if you want walking distance to everything you need.
Jun 27, 2019It’s an old building that is very clearly an old building. It’s exactly what you would expect. The floors are creaky and the hallways are narrow. This adds to the overall charm of the place. If you’re scared of old, clearly lived-in buildings, this isn’t for you. But for me it was perfect. Christine was super accommodating too, which made my stay even better!

Jun 27, 2019This 3 story walk up is a no frills apt but we had everything we needed. I had a huge suitcase and it was a little hard to get up the stairs, but we managed fine. The pictures are very accurate, which I appreciated as this was our first experience with Airbnb. Christine answered all our questions and gave me great suggestions along the way. I also felt very safe as you have to unlock 2 locked doors just to get in the building. Didn't really hear the neighbors, it was kinda quiet. I would recommend you stay here if you are looking for a true New York studio experience.

Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed our stay in Christine's studio. The size was great for the two of us, there was barely any noise at night, and the location was very convenient! The bed and sofa were comfortable, and the shower was nice - we got everything we needed. The heat was a little loud when it was on, but it didn't cause us any problem. Sometimes there was a smell in the hallway and in the room, but we solved it by opening the window. Christine was very responsive to our texts, and her co-host Andrew met with us for the checkin and showed us everything we need to know about the studio. It was overall a good experience!
Jun 27, 2019Bonne location pour son prix et surtout l'emplacement! C'est pas un hôtel 4 étoiles, mais ça fera l'affaire si vous n'êtes pas trop difficile. Beaucoup de commerces et restos a proximité. Proche de la station Union Square qui est parfait pour prendre le métro partout dans Manhattan. Nous avons louer un véhicule avec L (Website hidden by Airbnb) de JFK pour USD 63 (pourboire inclus a l’avance). Au retour aussi. Les cartes de crédit sont acceptés :-) Si vous arriver a La Guardia ou Newark, les taxes d'aéroport sont moins chers que JFK! Donc vos tickets aussi probablement. Faites la comparaison. Pour un super resto Grecque avec le meilleur baklava sur la planète, allez au Slouvaki GR, 116 Stanton Street, East Village.
Jun 27, 2019The main benefit of this accommodation was the location. We didn't meet Christine but communication was good and she responded quickly when messaged. We were disappointed in that the kitchen area wasn't as well equipped as expected from the advert with lack of drinking vessels and cutlery and the level of cleanliness of the bed linen was not as good as we have previously experienced in other Airbnb accommodation.

There were some reviews about a bad smell in the stairwell . While there was a faint odor it did not interfere with our stay at all and was not in the apartment . This apartment is cost effective and perfect for a couple .

Jun 27, 2019Christine's place is in a very convenient location, right around the corner from the L train and only about a 10-minute walk to Union Square, where you can get pretty much anywhere in the city. We enjoyed the neighborhood - it's full of bars, restaurants, shops and local culture. The apartment is small, but it is the perfect size for 2 people, and the bathroom was actually much bigger and nicer than we expected. The bed and sheets were comfortable, and despite the apartment's central location, it actually wasn't noisy at all. There was plenty of space to put our things and still not feel cramped. We'd definitely stay here again :)
Jun 27, 2019For location this place is amazing. But that's where it ends. The apartment is dirty and needs a good scrub. The bed is really soft so if you have back problems this is a no go. It's also a double bed so pretty tiny for 2 people. There are limited amenities ie no tv or ironing board. Kitchen is small but manageable. The air con was broken when we arrived but was replaced after 2 days of our stay. It's on the 3rd floor with very steep stairs that are not level so I wouldn't recommend for elderly or kids or anyone with any walking difficulties. Overall the stay was okay but I wouldn't go back.

The studio had everything we needed including comfy bed and AC. We didn’t want to leave! Thanks for a great stay.

Jun 27, 2019Christine was great! She was very accommodating to our needs during the trip. The place was pretty modern, had a great AC and walking distance to a lot of food. Close to boba, halal guys and what not. Everything was either a subway trip or 5$ Uber line away. Bed was a full, sheets are clean and ready for new guests each time! I would recommend this bright studio.

The place was small but cosy and more than enough for us as we were out for most of the day and night. Christine was quick to respond and really helpful. Would recommend this place.

Jun 27, 2019Chris answers fast and is very gentle. The appartment is very simple, but confortable. I had some problems with the noise (from the floor and the neighborhood) and some power plugs tha wasn't work very well. The best point, however, is the restroom (beautiful and spacious) and the localization - this is amazing!
Jun 27, 2019Christine’s place is very comfortable and perfectly located for a stay in NY. We were very pleased with her responsiveness. Make sure you are comfortable walking up stairs and bring flip flops / slippers if you plan to walk in the studio without shoes on.
Jun 27, 2019Christine’s place was perfect! It was very clean and comfortable. The space is centrally located in the East Village and we were able to walk everywhere! The Metro station was a block away and incredibly convenient for when we decided to venture out of the neighborhood. Christine was a lovely host; her responses were quick and friendly. When we had a scheduling issue she was able to accommodate us and really saved the day! I can’t recommend her flat enough!!!

The appartment is clean, well equiped, and surprisingly quiet for nyc. And we loved the neighborhood. So: nothing but praise from our side. Recommended!

Jun 27, 2019The space is nice and has an updated bathroom. It's small and simple overall, if that's all you need. There is no TV. The bed is only a full size, so it was a bit small for the two of us. The kitchen has some basics, but no pots. The floor was not clean - my feet got dirty when I walked around barefoot. Otherwise, the apt seemed pretty clean. The apartment has an AC unit, but it didn't work very well. We stayed here when highs were in the 90s. The first night, we didn't even use the blankets because it was too hot. In the morning I noticed a light on the AC unit indicating the air filter needed to be cleaned, so I cleaned it myself hoping this would help. The AC was a little better after that, but still never quite got as cool as we would've liked.

Las ventanas tienen termopanel por lo que no se escucha ruido además dan a un patio interior. El baño funciona perfecto y tenía de todo para pasar unos días cómodos y tranquilos. La ubicacion es perfecta, cuenta con aire acondicionado, es un poco ruidoso, pero muy necesario para días de calor en NY. Personas que tengan algun problema para subir escalas deben considerar que es tercer piso sin ascensor. A Christine no la conocimos pero siempre estuvo atenta a todo. Volvería sin duda.

Jun 27, 2019This is a great little apartment ideally situated in the Lower East Side. While the entrance may be a bit off-putting the apartment is safe, clean and comfortable and Christine provided clear and accurate instructions throughout our three day visit.

It was clean, bright, had all the facilities needed (and as advertised) and was situated in an excellent location where we felt safe. If you are looking to properly experience living in New York City, tucked away from the busy touristy areas, this is ideal. Christine was also superb at responding to any of our queries. We highly recommend and would definitely consider staying there again.

Jun 27, 2019Perfect location for great local restaurants and bars in the East Village. The key cafe exchange was very convenient. Christine was really quick to respond to any questions we had. A water pipe happened to bust just prior to our stay (no water leaking, it just wasn’t running) and she responded immediately and had her super on it - it was literally fixed within an hour. The bed and linens were very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a great stay however the boiler broke for the last two days of our stay, so heating and hot water was out. Christine did not hesitate in paying the refund for us for those two nights so we could get other accommodation. An unfortunate thing which can happen to anyone but she dealt with it very well. Would recommend this place to anyone, great location for food and drink.
Jun 27, 2019It's rare to find a space to rent short-term where you can live alone in NYC. Christine's place is ideal if that is what you desire and the location is fantastic with the East Village just outside of the front door. I really appreciated not needing to take trains and taxi's to get the places I was going. In addition, Christine's response times were very fast and that made me feel safe. I would stay here again.

Jun 27, 2019super close to the L train, and an easy walk to the larger 14th St station that connects to many other trains. really easy to get on a train and hop over to Brooklyn or uptown to Manhattan/midtown or over to the west village and Chelsea market area, all within 10-20min via train. east village is an interesting place to explore as well. there is a YMCA right downstairs and a few parka within easy walking distance. everything was clean and comfortable, was very happy with our stay here.

Jun 27, 2019This place is perfect for any New York trip. Just blocks away from the subway, it is easy to get around almost anywhere. If you want to stay close to home, there are plenty awesome bars and restaurants to keep you busy. The apartment was clean and comfortable. A great deal overall!

Jun 27, 2019The location is very convenient, situated between Brooklyn and lower Manhattan. Trains are nearby as well as local restaurants, coffee shops , etc. Loved that the apartment was on the third floor off the street and in the back off the main street. It has a lot of natural light and is pretty quiet considering it's a very old building.

Jun 27, 2019Christine’s place is a good value for the east village. The studio was clean, though the building smelled a little funky. The keys were left in a key box (secured) in a nearby 7-11 so I never met the host or had much communication. NYC is very walkable, so it’s easy to get around (as well as by subway and Lyft of course). 9th Street is a fun shopping street!
