Neighborhood Overview
About the NEIGHBORHOOD::: The neighborhood is Flatbush, bordering Ditmas Park and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. This is NOT hipster paradise, and it's NOT gangster's paradise either! Our neighborhood is very residential and typically quieter than most urban cities. The summertime is louder on the block because very few people have air conditioning and enjoy hanging outside. The neighbors are friendly, so say hello as you pass! The ages of the neighborhood are very diverse (young children to elderly homeowners who have been here for 40 years). Flatbush has a lot of local charm and people with hearts of gold. Jamaican food is plentiful (jerk chicken- yeah!); there is also a local donut shop nearby, Subway, Thai, sushi, pizza, and Indian food for delivery or a 5-15 minute walk to the restaurant, as well as many chain stores like Dominos, Dunkin' Donuts, IHOP, and Walgreens drug store. **NOTE: Though our CHECK-IN and CHECK-OUT times are VERY FLEXIBLE, it is important to understand that many times, we have guests back to back. CHECK IN: This means, if you are coming in on a red-eye flight and are arriving early in the morning, the previous guest may still be occupying the room until after we have both left for work meetings. As we work and are not a full-time business (just a couple renting out a room to meet awesome travelers), we may not be able to change the sheets and thoroughly clean the room until later in the evening, sometimes as late as 7pm. You are welcome to drop your bags at any time on Check in Day! This is usually no issue 90% of the time. CHECK OUT: Additionally, because of time constraints, we may ask that you be packed up and OUT of the apartment on the morning of your checkout. You are always welcome to leave your bags, especially for those guests who have late evening flights (Who wants, or COULD, drag all that gear around?!). Thank you so much in
Transit
We are located three blocks from the 2,5 trains at Church Avenue. We are also a 5 minute walk from the SBS 44 bus to Crown Heights, Bed-Stuy, Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, and Williamsburg. We are near B35 bus, which takes you across Church Avenue. The B,Q trains (south to the beach, north to Manhattan) are a mile (20 minute) walk away.

- Most importantly to us, please take your shoes off before entering the apartment. - This is a non-smoking property. All smoking must be done at the curb due to asthma and allergies. - Absolutely NO GUESTS who have not been previously approved through Airbnb reservation or in person. Please do not bring anyone into the house. - AIR CONDITIONING: This window unit costs a large amount of money for us to run, so we want to make sure we can afford to keep providing it. The room is rather small and well insulated, and cools down within 7 minutes of turning it on. ...Please, do not raise the level over 4. Christa and Zach were very welcoming hosts. I enjoyed staying at their comfortable home with their adorable dogs. Both were very easygoing and considerate. Christa even baked cookies! They were very respectful of my space, but were also very easy to talk to, especially concerning our schedules and house rules. Their home was beautiful and clean. I felt at home in their house, and I couldn't have been happier with my decision to stay with them for a week. I recommend staying with them for any period of time, its a great experience!

Jun 27, 2019I liked Christa and Zach’s personalities. They’re very kind and helpful. They tried to get me feel like my own home. Their dogs are very cute, I really liked to be with them and enjoyed playing with them My room was the same as I saw in the pics. There was not any lack in the room. Everything was clean and tidy. The room was just a little hot because of summer season. I think that that the room is warm in winter. So, it is a good option for winter travelers and there is an air conditioner and a big fan for summer travelers. These are quite sufficient to cool the room. The house is in the walking distance to number 2 train (red line) to Manhattan direction. The station’s name is Church Ave. It can be arrived there 10 - 15 minute walk from the house. It takes 40 minutes from Church Ave to Times Square by train. I wanna thank this young couple for entertaining me in their sweet home. I think it is a nice and friendly place to stay. I will get in touch with them for accommodation when I have a travel to New York one more time.

Jun 27, 2019I had a great stay at Christa and Zachs place! They have a really nice and comfortable home, also very clean. I enjoyed spending my time there and I also liked the neighborhood. Beautiful Prospect Park is very close and by subway you can get easily to Manhattan. There were also two very cute dogs in the house. Really helpful people, who make you feel like home. I can totally recommend this place!
Jun 27, 2019Christa and Zach are amazing hosts. I've used airbnb a few times before but this experience was one of the best. They are truly kind and genuine and willing to help you out with whatever you need! Christa made sure that the temperature in my room was good and that I was comfortable at all times. They had the most amazing specialty bagels that they offered to me in the mornings and even got me cake the day I left! Their home is extremely clean and tastefully decorated. You get a very warm and welcoming vibe as soon as you walk in. Their dogs Ollie and Cookie are so cute and friendly as well. The location is a little far from midtown Manhattan (around 40 mins on the 2 train, the 5 train is faster but doesn't come as often). If you bring something to read for the ride it goes by quite quickly. I never had any trouble getting back at night on the metro but past midnight i would usually just cab home which cost anywhere from $20-$30 depending where in Manhattan I was. I really don't think there is a better place to stay for the price that you pay. I definitely would recommend Christa and Zach's place!
Jun 27, 2019My stay at Christa and Zach's was awesome. Their house is beautifully decorated and super clean which is something I greatly appreciated. They are five minutes away from the subway and their line goes directly to downtown Manhattan, which is good for those who aren't familiar with the NY subway system. More than anything, though, I really appreciated their company. They are both very nice and friendly, respectful of your space but totally open to hanging out and getting to know you. Would I stay there again? In a heartbeat.

Though time we had not much talk, but the feeling of warmth , comfort and kindness never left me during all days. Always ready to help, tell them everything, help find the right routes, Christa and Zach will give you reliable and sensitive owners. Room is very cozy and very comfortable mattress. Dogs Cookies and Oliver will be always glad to you. But when there are no owners , you do not hear nor see. I have been offered Breakfast , although not included in the price.This is a very positive and sincere people.Come to him and you will not regret it. Jun 27, 2019My stay at Christa and Zach's was definitely quiet and relaxing. I did not have the chance to meet Christa, but Zach was very nice. I drove to their apartment and had no trouble finding a parking space. Their place is very clean and quiet at night. The bed was also quite comfortable. If I get the chance I would stay again.
Jun 27, 2019Crista and Zach made me feel welcome, and were great hosts. They made sure I had everything I needed. The room was just like the pictures- it was clean and comfortable. It really was a quiet, relaxing experience like they advertised. One thing that I wasn't aware of until I got there is that the neighborhood is not ethnically diverse (I was the only asian around and got frequent glances) which made me feel uncomfortable. I think it is an ok neighborhood overall, but there isn't a lot of foot traffic walking down the street to their home. Since I was new to the area and stood out, I felt like I had to walk very quickly down the street from the subway to their house at night. I hope that helps!

Jun 27, 2019Though I wasn't able to stay at Christa and Zach's place for very long, they were extremely hospitable and accomodating hosts! They keep a very cozy and clean home that is located close enough to the subway to get to other parts of the city but it is still tucked into a cool residential area that offers up some great looking restaurants! All in all, I would definitely recommend this room for a solo traveler who is looking for a more "local"-esque experience, with plenty of accessilbity to all that NYC has to offer!

They provided a little guidebook for all the travelers that are new in the City and this was just so great. -I was happy to get some recommendations from real New Yorkers! ;-) Al in all I would totally love to come back and recommend to anyone who visits NYC to stay with Christa and Zach and their two little, supercute dogs!

They are great host and made me feel like I was at home all the time and made sure I was comfortable. The room was very cozy and clean.I highly recommend them!!
Jun 27, 2019I was staying with Christa and Zach for more than a month (for my studying rotation). It was really a great experience. Despite being far from my family for such a long period of time, I felt comletly at home thanks to the guys' hospitality. It was especially a big pleasure to enter the house after a hard and exausting working day, to have a good conversation with Zach or Christa, to have some fun with two buddies (obviously, I'm speaking about the dogs:). The house is very cozy, clean and well-decorated. I could find everything I needed for my entire month stay. The neighbourhood is completely safe - checked it at every time of the day:) A subway train will give you a pleasant ride to any attraction you need in Manhattan and not only there. During my long stay there were a lot of guests who where coming for shorter periods of time and staying in the other guest-room, and everyone was really satisfied by everything. If you consider coming to New York for any purpose - vacation, studying or business - this is definitely the best place to stay!

Leurs deux petits chiens Cookie et Early sont affectueux et en aucun cas gênants. Le quartier est desservie par deux lignes de métro qui desservent une partie de Brooklyn et tout Manhattan, c est très pratique ! J ai passé un très bon séjour chez eux et le referai sans hésiter !

I received a warm welcome, lots of assistance on navigating the city, and great company. Beautiful home, adorable dogs, friendly neighbourhood. The house isn't far from the subway and is in an area that always seemed to be populated so I felt safe travelling back by myself late at night. Go to Tom's for breakfast if you can!
Jun 27, 2019I had a great time staying at Christa and Zach's place. Just before the trip, the nearest subway closed during the weekend. Christa alerted me immediately and gave me alternatives so I won't have to waste my time on the street and plan my day accordingly. Also the self made guide booklet they left in the room was very helpful. The room was clean and minimally decorated, perfect as a guest room. The entire house looks the same as in tho photo. Very bright. Most of all, Oliver the puppy was soooo cute. Had fun playing with Oliver. Overall, my experience was fantastic.

Room looks exactly as it is pictured, very cozy and welcoming, bed is very comfy, and overall there is enough space for one. Shared bathroom has all essentials as well as your own place for toiletries. You can use kitchen to cook and keep your food in the fridge. Communication with Christa and Zach is at the highest level, you always know what to expect and Christa will give you all necessary advice and tips if required. The neighborhood is safe and it takes you around 40 minutes to reach Manhattan, we never had any problem taking 2 and 5 trains to come back even late nights. We would definitely stay again for the third time:)

Jun 27, 2019My biggest dislike of Christa and Zach's place was that I didn't get to spend much time there. Christa was super accommodating with my last minute reservation. Their neighborhood had tons of parking, felt super safe and was right by a subway stop. Also, Christa and I discovered we were from the same hometown! The room had an air conditioner, their bathroom was great and the rest of the place looked lovely. I highly recommend it.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay there, Christa and Zach are wonderful and very considerate hosts. Love their puppies Cookie and Ollie! Very close walk to 2 and 5 subway lines. I always get breakfast at Dunkin Donuts on my way to the hospital every morning!

Christa's notes and text messages helped me navigate efficiently to and from their place via the Subway and bus. Its really hard for me to stay asleep and yet I had no troubles falling asleep and sleeping soundly on the comfy bed. I felt it was worth the $ and I would stay again. Loved the rules so that expectations were set and followed for everyone.
Jun 27, 2019This was my first time using AirBnB and it was exactly the experience I hoped for. Christa and Zach have a beautiful home and were incredibly hospitable hosts. I had just moved to NY and stayed with them for 8 days so Christa was very helpful in giving tips/advice about the city and my move. Their home is a quick four block walk to the 2 and 5 trains, and about a 30 minute subway ride in to the city. Overall, I recommend staying with them if you're looking to stay in Brooklyn, you couldn't ask for a warmer home to stay in!

Jun 27, 2019Christa and Zach were very welcoming and I enjoyed getting to talk with them. The room was comfortable and I liked their place. The house was smaller than I'd expected and had only one bathroom which can be a bit of a challenge with a full house. I found the dogs to be trying at times but that may be a personal preference. The neighborhood is pleasant but has yet to be gentrified so there isn't much in the way of restaurants or coffee shops nearby so a subway ride is required if that's desired.
Jun 27, 2019Excellent value for money! Christa and Zach were very friendly and made me feel at home, they even booked me a taxi on my last day to pick me up and take me to the airport. The bedroom was very clean, with a a very comfortable bed, a desk and a good size wardrobe to hide away suitcases and clothes. The house is lovely, modern, cozy and have a very well equipped kitchen. I definitely recommend.

The place is close to the subway. It was great to be close to the park but I didn't care much for the neighborhood. Everything else was wonderful.
Jun 27, 2019The apartment is very well situated in Brooklyn. Arrived a Friday evening and left Monday morning, was happy to be able to leave the car in the street with no charge. Metro was easy and only 5 minutes away. Had a wonderful stay. Room is not too big but was enough for me alone. Christa was very nice, and did all to make my stay comfortable.

The house was clean, the puppies were sweet, and Zach and Christa were super helpful with giving me directions to get around and ideas on how to spend my day! Also, they left some great snacks beside my bed when I got there and Christa even made fresh chocolate chip cookies! Loved it!

Jun 27, 2019I chose their apartment, because I wanted to meet American people as many as possible, and it was the right choice! The hosts were very very friendly and kind couple, and I enjoyed our conversations, too. I had a problem with my knee during my stay, and they gave me some tablets, which worked very well and also big pillows, so that I could rest my feet when I was in bed. I also should mention that their bed was very comfortable. (I often have problem with pillow, but their pillows were more comfortable than mine!) I saw that they were trying to do their best to make their guests comfortable, and they were doing really well. The apartment was close to subway stations, too. I will definitely come back if I have another chance. I wish them a lot of good luck and success!!

Jun 27, 2019Christa and Zach make the whole process very easy and relaxed. It's a really nice street, filled with trees, and a nice single bedroom (though you'll need a sleepmask - it gets all the early morning light!) with plenty of storage and full use of their kitchen helps make it feel like home from home, as do the two dogs who run to greet visitors! You're a couple of minutes walk from the subway, and most of the everyday shops (groceries, bank etc) you could need are just round the corner. Takes a while to get to Manhattan, say, but there are plenty of hidden treats in Brooklyn to explore on the way. But above all my hosts were really helpful and understanding when I ran into some problems, for which I was very grateful. Strongly recommended as a friendly welcoming base if you want to see all the surprising beauty (try the botanic gardens) and places of interest in Brooklyn.

They prepared very detailed instructions on everything from how to find their apartment and best public transportation routes to nice shopping and dining places around. Apartment was exactly as on pictures. Room was clean and cozy. Would return there gladly on my next trip to NYC.

Jun 27, 2019After an oversight in booking a Airbnb room left me with no place to stay for one night in NYC I found Christa and Zach's listing. They were quick to respond, and very helpful in directing me to and from their place. The room and apartment are as advertised, and were more than adequate for my needs. Christa and Zach are pro Airbnb hosts, as indicated by their approval rating. I felt very welcomed in their home, and enjoyed talking with them. I highly recommend this listing and would gladly stay there again. Thank you Christa and Zach.
Jun 27, 2019Christa and Zach were very nice and helpful. The house itself is great and the room is small but definitely enough for one person traveling. Lively neighborhood with lots and close to convenient subway stop. Only thing is it's not super convenient to take public transport to airports so taxi or über is the better option.
Jun 27, 2019Christa and Zach were very welcoming and extremely helpful. My flight was supposed to reach very late, so they left me quite a detailed message on how to reach the room! That was great. They had kept everything prepared with informative material about places to visit and eat at. In the morning, I was pleasantly greeted by the family, including Christa's parents and the two wonderful dogs. They made me feel completely at home, even when I was so far away! They helped with everything I required in the kitchen as well :) The listing was exactly as shown in pictures, and as described; even better. The neighborhood was friendly too. Subway was close by, I would suggest, understand the exact routes by them and then your stay would be very easy ! Christa would come each night to talk about my day and give me suggestions about the next day. This was so great! The two dogs became very good friends, and after looking at so many places around the great city, I wanted to come back to them :). Christa made sure I was okay with the dogs, only then she allowed them to be around. The family was very helpful and friendly, and at the same time they provided the private space very elegantly. I loved that. I would definitely want to go back!

I had just moved to the city and they helped me navigate my way around the city. Their apartment is lovely and I would definitely recommend staying with them to anyone who needs a place to stay!

The room was perfect for a single traveler and was very comfortable and spacious. I really appreciated that it was not too far off from public transportation and that it felt like it was in a relatively safe neighborhood. And I loved their adorable dogs! I would highly recommend their place to anyone who needs to stay in Brooklyn.

Jun 27, 2019Everything was great at Christa and Zach place, the location was good, close to many things, the room and apartment was clean and comfy. I do really like my stay there. Sometimes WiFi didnt work 100% fine, but the rest was really nice experience. I recomend a lot.
Jun 27, 2019Staying with Christa and Zach was a fantastic way to spend the evening before a move. I had just driven all day, was exhausted, and while I would have loved to explore something local, I just wanted to crash. I still couldn't help but be sociable and they were both very wonderful. Many home improvements have been made here and its a very lovely place. Incredibly clean, inviting, even their little dogs are adorable. It doesn't take a few moments to realize they are both very active in their community, they live on premise and don't just rent it out... its really a home. The room I stayed in was on the small side, but for one person, you really don't need a lot, and it's all there. Anything else, they drop what they are doing and tend to you. I couldn't have asked for a more laid back simple and comfortable experience.

They welcomed me with fresh towel and bedding, maps and a typed up recommendations of thing to do eat and see in the neighbourhood/New York in general based on their personal experience. I felt like I was staying at a close friends home who just so happen to be resourceful native New Yorkers! Love them and thank you guys! Hope to see you again some time!
Jun 27, 2019It was overall a great to stay at Zach and Christa's. Their dogs were adorable as well! I wasn't sure if the neighborhood was safe when I first got there but was assured that it was when I talked to two girls who were staying there also. The single room is small but sufficient for one traveller and the room is cool if you keep the windows a little open at night. Christa responded quickly when I had questions and was very helpful. I had to shorten my stay during to personal reasons and Christa gave me a 50% refund swiftly. It was a great first Airbnb experience and I recommend staying with Zach and Christa.
Jun 27, 2019I almost didn't get to meet Christa and Zach because of our busy schedules we kept missing each other! But, when I finally did, Christa was nothing short of warm and welcoming and an instant friend! The fact that they had a keypad lock made it so easy for me and my schedule to come and go as I needed without having to deal with an exchanging of keys. The room and bathroom are cozy but were perfect for my stay. I definitely wouldn't stay there if you are traveling with a partner, but for one person its just fine. They were super close to the subway which made it very easy to get to Manhattan. I did have trouble getting an uber to their place the one time I tried, so if you prefer cabs this place might be tricky. I found the subway train very easy and as quick as a cab though. They also let me leave my bags there on my last day after my stay had completed so that I could go exploring around the city and not have to carry them until I was headed to the airport which was a huge weight off my shoulders- literally! I will say, the surrounding neighborhood wasn't as fun and interesting as I was hoping as far as any cool shops or eateries or the general atmosphere. Overall I enjoyed my stay. Very pleasant.

Jun 27, 2019I had a great stay at Zach and Christa's apartment. Christa provided me with extensive directions and advice about navigating the subway and NYC in general. The dogs were very happy and well trained and I looked forward to giving them a pet at the end of my day. Christa was also lovely to talk to and is extremely friendly and welcoming. Walking to the apartment at night seemed a little dicey but it's a quick trip and there are a lot of police patrolling. The subway access was also very convenient. Christa and Zach strive to accommodate any way they can and I would recommend their place to anyone!
Jun 27, 2019J'ai passé 5 jours à New York, ne voulant pas dormir à Manhattan, je me suis dirigé vers Brooklyn, et j'ai trouvé ce superbe appartement dans un quartier très tranquille de Brooklyn. Christ et Zach sont 2 personnes très charmante et gentille. La petite chambre était propre et en bon état, climatisation (obligée en été), petit déjeuner et affaires pour la douche offert. Je recommande cette chambre malgré le fait que ce soit éloigné du centre de Manhattan, compter 45minutes si pas de pannes. Mais lignes de métro très proche de l'appartement.

You can really sense their warm hearts, and It almost felt like visiting family. I would hands down stay with them in the future! You really can't beat the fair and honest prices either. Jun 27, 2019Christa and Zach were awesome. I felt right at home from the get go. And their two dogs were friendly. The neighborhood would be scary to those used to suburban living but really it's an ok neighborhood even if walking home from the train at night. The room was small but not too small, the bed comfy and the air conditioning a welcome addition during the hot and humid days--which during my stay-it was pretty much every day. All in all a very pleasant stay. I hope to stay there again.

Jun 27, 2019Christa and Zach are gracious hosts at their Brooklyn apartment. The subway directions were concise which made it easy for me to maneuver from JFK and find my way easily to their place. The room was as described, simple and for one person. They made me feel comfortable to use the kitchen and living room space. Their place is a few blocks away from the subway station and I found it easy to get to Manhattan and back, feeling safe at any hour. I would definitely stay here again.

Jun 27, 2019I got there around 8pm and Christa was there to greet me. We chatted for a little bit and after that I got settled in. The room was very adequate for a single traveler, but would suit a couple easy enough. The bed was a full-size(maybe queen?) I think and comfortable. There was space for the small suitcase and the ability to hang/store items in the standing closet. They provided a towel and washcloth which was very kind of them and some limited provisions in their kitchen (cereal) to get you going in the morning. The neighborhood has food options, but the quality of Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn haven't made it down that way yet. So you're stuck with fast food and pizza for the most part. I ordered some pizza having delayed dinner, but I'd recommend finding some small snacks or eating elsewhere prior for dinner in particular if you're staying multiple nights. The place was very nice overall and is easily accessible by subway or car. If and when I head back to NY, I'd definitely stay there again if I can find an open date!

Jun 27, 2019Staying with Christa and Zach was fun and easy. The apartment was clean and cozy, and I felt very much at home there. Although I didn't need much extra from them, they made me feel as if I could ask for anything. Their two dogs, Cookie and Ollie, were very well behaved, cute, and fun to play with. I was a little nervous when I first booked my stay as it was my first time staying at an airbnb. But with the tone of Christa's first email, I felt completely assured and happy with my decision. Christa, Zach, the two dogs, and their home fit the description on their listing perfectly. Christa and Zach were very honest and open, and I felt like they would have let me know if I did anything that made them feel uncomfortable. Likewise, I felt I could do the same with them, which is part of why I felt so comfortable there. I talked with Christa a bit about living in NYC, especially in Brooklyn. As she has been there for over four years, she knows quite a bit about the city and gave me some good information. The location was great -- only several blocks away from the subway. The neighborhood was good, and the people living on the same street were very friendly. I would definitely stay there again when I go back to NYC.

Super welcoming and SO accommodating - instructions to the subway, things to do, apps that will help you enjoy the city to it's fullest - they seriously thought of everything! Bedroom (and entire apartment, really) was clean, the bed was crazy comfortable, and their locks make it easy to come and go as your please while feeling comfortable leaving your items in the apartment. Easily best experience using Airbnb to date. Very easy to work with and genuinely cool people to be around, will definitely stay here again or refer to friends (and you fine folks reading this review!).
Jun 27, 2019This was my first trip to US so I was quite worried and insecure but Christa’s messages calmed me down. She was really amazing and provided me a lot of useful information (thanks again for subway directions and taxi tips!). The room was recently refurbished so I was lucky enough to enjoy new large bed! The flat is really nice, cosy, comfortable and clean. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe. I would definitely recommend staying there and I would love to stay there again!

Christa and Zach have a clean, cozy, artsy house, and it has everything you need, intructions, directions, and security. Even though they weren't home I felt very comfortable there like my own home. It was a place that I needed asap and Christa and Zach repond fast, and answered me everything that I needed to know, and made me feel safe. When you are out of the house it's the kind Brooklyn panorama that you could imagine, I loved it. I had a lovely staying and I recomend it. I will surely look for this place if I go back to New York. Jun 27, 2019Its an amazing place to stay in. It was less than a mile from where I interviewed in. Clean sheets, clean towels, and easy access to the subway and dining areas (<.5 miles). I feel secure walking around the neighboring areas and probably because there is a nearby police station too. I would love to stay at their place again.

Every part of the apartment was clean and the room I stayed in was perfect for one person, with a super comfy bed that made me the laziest guest they've had for sure. Safe neighborhood and close to the train stations. I recommend this place to anyone. Wish you guys a lifetime of happiness. :-)

Jun 27, 2019I simply loved their place. It is exactly like in the pictures. Extremely clean and organized. We didn't get a chance to meet them but they were very good about co ordinating everything. They responded very promptly to texts whenever we needed anything. It's super close to the subway station so we didn't have trouble even when we got back late in the night. The house had all amenities that we needed and we throughly enjoyed our stay.

Jun 27, 2019Although the location is not familiar for travelers (the area is not beautiful, but so cheap for breakfast, or laundromat! ), the guidance by the host is very easy to understand, and I could arrived without lost my way. When arrived, Christa (and cute two dogs!) welcomed me, and introduced the room. The room is well coordinated with good sense as seen in the picture. I love the place, the host. I will stay hear when I visit NYC again.

The flat has been done up with a lot of care and is beautiful and spacious, and although I had a small room it had everything I could need. The neighbourhood is safe with good transport links to Manhattan and elsewhere in Brooklyn via the subway. I'd definitely return and would recommend!
Jun 27, 2019I arrived late in the evening, but Christa and Zach informed me in advance how to get there and to enter the apartment. The communication always was very good, even I didn't see them much (especially Christa ;-)). The room was like described, clean and nicely decorated. I liked the short manuell about the housesharing and tips for food, site seeing, public transport, etc. Bathroom sharing, storage of food or beverage in the fridge never posed a problem.

The hosts were nice and offered breakfast for the mornings. Overall a good place to stay, and only about 35 mins easy subway ride in to central Manhattan.

The neighborhood is also safe, i didnt have to think about my safety at all. The subway is 5 min by walkig away from there the connection to manhatten can take a while but i was aware of that. I also had nice talks with other guests and the hosts.

Jun 27, 2019I love the hosts, Christa and Zach. Very open & easy going. Christa provides a lot of good information on the city. Their space is cute! A 2nd floor walk up is nice in a town like NYC. The room is small but that's typical of the city. The a/c unit was helpful. Just one note to travelers: there's only one bathroom that is being shared by you (and potentially someone with you), the host couple and possibly even 1-2 other guests for the other Airbnb room. On my trip there were 5 of us sharing so in the morning especially there was a bit of a log jam but we were all courteous of each other's time which is important when you're wanting to explore a city like NY and factor in transportation time too. The neighborhood is safe, lots of families, churches and shops. It's a neighborhood with lots of islanders so awesome Trinidad, Jamacian, and Dominican/Haitian food in the immediate surroundings. Also some great fruit markets I had fun exploring. As a solo female traveler I felt safe. The 2 and 5 subway lines are just a few quick blocks away. The closest neighborhood that is gentrified is called Franklin Ave, just 3-4 stops down in Crown Heights. I also enjoyed hanging out at the restrants & shops there. Overall I feel like Christa and Zach's space is a great value! I want to attend something at Kings Theater next time! That's an awesome historical theater that's close to this spot.

Jun 27, 2019Christa And Zach are a very nice hosts, they respect your space and your schedule. I Reccomend them for everyone who wants a quiet place to stay in New York. The Neighborhood was quiet and Safe, i walked around there late night and it was very secure. The metro station is very close, but where they live is little bit far for some places like the airports and Williansburgh.

Jun 27, 2019This place is a gem spot in that block in Brooklyn. The rooms are small but super cozy. From the garden to ornaments, they all speak how much the hosts love their life. Except for Microwave, you can find pretty much everything you need. Christa and Zach are super friendly and their puppies are just beyond adorable! I enjoyed staying there. It feels like home.

Jun 27, 2019I stayed here for nearly a week and always felt like I was at home. I'm glad I found this place, not only is it close to the subway, it's a nice and quiet neighborhood. Zach and Christa are very welcoming and nice hosts. Let's not forget their two dogs: Ollie and Cookie. For 7 days, I walked till I couldn't walk anymore only to come home to have two dogs greet and play with you. Zach and Christa also gives you as much space as possible which is a plus. As much as I came here to sightsee New York, sometimes the small rewards are the best rewards. I would definetly come here again. The house is nicely decorated and the room (window) I had was very comfortable. Highly recommended.

They left a helpful guide in my room in case I wanted to do a little exploring and directed me to just about anything I might need! If you're coming through NYC for a short trip, definitely try to book with Christa and Zach!

I was out and about most of the time, but they made me feel welcome by offering cereal and tea in the morning. They also had a very useful homemade guide by the bed, with useful directions and information for a newbie in the area. Unfortunately, I forgot to put this back before leaving the flat (so sorry!). Would def go back!
Jun 27, 2019Exactly as described, a superb place to base yourself if you're visiting the NYC or Brooklyn area. In a friendly little neighbourhood only minutes from the subway and local shopping, I always felt welcome and safe, even walking home alone, after dark. Christa and Zach are genuine, easy-going and good communicators; readily willing to share tips on how/where to come and go in the area. The keypad on the door made it a breeze too, after my flight was delayed and I arrived later than planned. Highly recommended, would definitely stay again!

Jun 27, 2019This was a great stay especially for my goal of going to SUNY downstate medical center. It has everything I need especially a warm and comfy bed in the cold weather. Christa was easy to coordinate with, she gave me the iron and ironing board I need and was flexible with the check in and check out time, which was of great help especially after a draining day. Thank you again Christa and Zach for the great stay and cookie and ollie for being nice dogs.

The house has a very warm feeling to it, and the room I slept in is perfect (most comfortable bed ever!). The apartment is in a neat and quiet neighborhood, very close to the Church Av. Metro station (trains 2,5), which makes it very easy to come and go. Highly recommended for a great stay in a great city!

Jun 27, 2019Très bon accueil avec des hôtes très réactifs pour répondre aux messages avec des informations très clairs. Localisation un peu éloignée de Manhattan mais facile d'accès par le métro. L'appartement est très joli et propre. La chambre était très bien, juste un petit bémol pour des bruits d'eau dans une tuyauterie parfois un peu gênants dans la nuit. Les deux petits chiens sont très mignons et tout aussi accueillants que leurs maîtres.

Jun 27, 2019Very friendly and accommodating couple providing a crucial service for low-budget travelers. It was nice to have my own TV in my room and i really appreciated the space heater! I had a last-minute change in my itinerary and Zach and Christa let me stay a few hours extra. The dogs are super friendly and don't bark very much for small dogs! I loved having the dogs around. I have no complaints, besides the fact that the comforter was a bit too warm for my taste. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

Jun 27, 2019Christa and Zach's apartment is very comfortable and you have everything you need to have a good time in there. It is close to lines 2 and 5 of the subway and also some buses. I stayed there for almost 3 weeks (for job), and as you can imagine is a long time to spend in someone's house: in my case, I missed that there is not a single table in the bedroom and if you want to work the only table is the dining room and they are usually in that place. You also must love dogs because they have 2 little dogs.

Jun 27, 2019I love staying here. Christa and Zach make you feel right at home without getting in your way. Their dogs are super cute. The beds are very comfortable. Communication is always great. The keyless locks let you check in at any time. The neighborhood is diverse but safe and gives you an authentic idea of what NYC is really like. The jerk chicken you get here is world class! I stay here whenever I'm in the city.

The house was very clean and looked newly updated. The dogs were precious and very loving. I was able to study for the NYPD exam in a very quiet house with other guests as well. I would definitely recommend this Airbnb.

Christa and Zach are very friendly and welcoming hosts, not always something you can find in the city. Everything was clean and description of the room on the site compared to in-person was spot-on. I loved that Christa and Zach left tips for navigating the city and how to get to the train from their apartment, it was very helpful.
Jun 27, 2019Room was as described, small but perfectly serviceable. Keyless entry was great. Kitchen fully equipped, but no microwave so be aware if you're looking to quickly reheat meals you might need to go the old-fashioned way. I stayed a few weeks and felt right at home--Christa and Zach did everything possible to make me feel welcome. Subway is only a short walk to the 2 and 5. Location is a little tucked away from things locally though, with a short walk to grocery stores but a subway ride to get a decent coffee/breakfast etc. Having Prospect Park nearby was nice too, especially considering there's a Saturday farmer's market at Grand Army Plaza and Smorgasburg on Sundays. Would stay again.

The bedroom was cozy and the bed was comfortable.I really appreciated being able to do a bit of laundry and drop off my bags early. I'm glad I was able to spend a few nights here while visiting NYC.

Christa was quick to respond to any messages and gave extremely detailed and useful directions for getting to their place from the airport via the train. She also supplied detailed info on the local trains to get to Manhattan. Check in was extremely easy with the door code and the room was small but comfortable for one. Christa also provided good areas to visit in the surrounding neighbouhoods for places to eat and drink and ensured that I had everything I needed to enjoy my stay. I also loved the dogs Cookie and Ollie.

I thought that the way these hosts Christa and Zach handled the coded-entry locks was extremely easy and straightforward and respectful to the guests, and not stressful on anyone. Also, the folder with the things to do and see in Brooklyn and Manhattan was particularly well-written along with being extremely helpful. In addition, I'm also highly recommending them to anyone who doesn't mind traveling a bit into Brooklyn. Amazing shops and health food store near their place, on Rogers, just north of Church. Subway access is so easy, to the 5 and 2 train, except the 2 train doesn't run on weekends --and weekends start on Friday evening...this is a little bit important to know. Thanks again guys for a wonderful stay.

Jun 27, 2019Christa and Zach's house is situated in a nice and green street in Brooklyn, with a good connection with public transport. I stayed in the room in the front of the house. It's on the small side but had a comfy bed for 2, TV, airco, closet and good wifi. The room and the rest of the house were cosy and clean. I didn't use the kitchen, only for coffee once, but i you want, there's coffee, tea, cereal and milk to use and you can put your own food in the fridge and use their kitchen and spices to cook if you like. The place has a good shower, nothing fancy but perfectly fine. Also, the doggies are very sweet and quiet, I did't even know they were there. I didn't meet Christa and Zach when I arrived and during my stay. But when I left I met Zach briefly and he seemed like a nice guy. But the directions of the house they sent and they also put in the room were very clear so it was no problem at all. All in all a nice stay and good value.

Jun 27, 2019Good place for budget travellers, clean and cosy (and cute dogs!). The room is rather small but when you're busy exploring NY, there's more to do than hang out there I'd say. Subway is close by and one gets to see a little bit more of New York than just Manhattan and the typical tourist stuff. I didn't have too much interaction with the hosts but communication went smoothly via Mail/Phone and they're really nice folks.
Jun 27, 2019I ended up moving over to a friend's place before staying a full night, but I did take a nap and shower at Christa and Zach's following a red-eye from LAX. It is a great little spot, very conveniently located on a residential classic BK street, near a train stop. Nice room, with a nice bed and air conditioning. House was clean, bath was clean. The hosts practiced prompt communication and totally accommodated me. I highly recommend Christa and Zach's place.

Jul 27, 2019The apt is very nice. I really just slept and showered, but the bedroom was very nice and comfortable, a/c worked well, bathroom had all the necessities. Hosts were really nice and friendly. It was very convenient to the subway and lots of stores close by. I am a native NY'er and used to live fairly close by so I was familiar with the neighborhood and knew that it was safe. This is definitely not SOHO or TRIBECA so If you are not used to a real NYC neighborhood, it might seem kind of sketchy, scary, and overwhelming. It definitely is busy, crowded, a little grungy, and ethnically diverse. But really totally safe. I am a 53 year old woman and was totally comfortable walking alone there. But how you feel about the area is really dependent upon your attitude.

Jun 27, 2019I stayed with Christa and Zach for a bit more than a week while on a trip to NYC. The house is nice, spacey and the two of them are super flexible and greatly experienced hosts. Flatbush has a nice neighbourhood vibe to it and one can definitely feel very "at home" here. The room I had is tiny but they are totally upfront about that in the description and I didn't mind at all. Who wants to stay in when in NYC for a limited time anyway, right?! But yeah, for more than one person it might be less ideal. A few things to keep in mind. I shared the house with C&Z and temporarily with other guests, too. While they try to manage and coordinate nicely, that still can mean 5 people for one bathroom in the morning. I guess when on vacation that is no problem at all though. NYC is vast and the 2/5 metro isn't that far from the house. However, make sure that suit your needs or u might end end up spending lots of time on the public transport. In general I can recommend staying with C&Z.

The neighborhood is very diverse and was in a safe area. Of course anywhere you stay in NY will have loud cars drive by at night and people out and about but it's a great place to stay if you're planning on seeing Brooklyn!

Jun 27, 2019This Airbnb has great value. While it's in the southern end of Brooklyn it's 7-10 minute walk to the subway, thankfully as I commuted up to Midtown every day for work. The apartment is large and spacious. Furthermore Christa and Zach were prompt with any questions I had. If you are traveling on a budget I recommend this Airbnb for sure.

Location is good as it’s close to the subway, and public transport is a breeze. just expect to travel a solid 40 minutes on the subway to get to the touristy places in manhattan. The keyless entry is the best as well. They’ve really given a lot of thought and effort into hosting and it certainly made my stay very enjoyable.

About four blocks from the train - super convenient for getting in and out of the city (please note that this is a bit further out in Brooklyn and a local stop train). Comfy bed! Jun 27, 2019Its just what you need if you’re visiting NYC. Close to the 2-5 lines that take you straight to manhatten or anywhere else. Nice small room with an AC (didnt need it). Great bed! Only met Christa, but she’s great. They have two cute dogs who really like to cuddle.

The location is a quick five-minute walk to the subway which connects directly to Manhattan. Check in was extremely smooth and they both are extremely responsible with my questions/concerns with the last minute changes to my travel schedule! They value your own privacy and will give you the space that you need. They were kind of enough to offer breakfast so I did not have to worry about it before my interview. It's the little things when you travel. Thank you for being the sweetest and most welcoming of hosts! Cannot wait to stay again!

Jun 27, 2019I stayed at Christa & Zach's place before the Brooklyn Half Marathon and it was a great spot to be close to the MTA to get to the start with plenty of time. The room was clean and nice as a place to get some rest in between exploring the city and racing down the streets! There weren't too many food options nearby though, so I'd recommend future guests eat out or grab some groceries before arriving.

However, this area was not nice and there are no places close by to go eat or get a coffee, and in my opinion, isn’t ideal for tourists who don’t know NY or haven’t been here before. I used to live in NYC and didn’t feel comfortable in the area.
