Neighborhood Overview
Islander on the beach complex is a Beachfront property, you walk onto a white sand beach withing a few steps of the pool area. The complex is next to Coconut marketplace, an outdoor shopping mall, lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance.
Notes
Islander on the Beach is a low rise complex fashioned after the Old Hawaiian Charm style of décor. In keeping with that décor, this complex does not have elevators. My unit is on the top, third floor which offers the best view. The steps to the condo are not at all steep and pictures will be forwarded to you upon request. Guests must be ok with no elevators. You do not pay an amenity fee and you get a tremendous savings on the rental rate when you book through me. As such, the laundry room and front desk will not be available for your use. Everything else on the complex such as the pool, hot tub, barbecue grills, common areas are available to you. Transit
You should rent a car on Kauai as public transportation isn't readily available. You can bike or walk along the beach next to the condo. Parking is free in the condo parking lot or else streets right outside the parking lot. Driving up north to Hanalei/Princeville is about 30 minutes and the same distance south to Poipu.

Esther's place met our needs for a great long weekend getaway perfectly! She is very good at communicating and helps you to feel very wecolme there. It was so wonderful to have such nice ocean views out the window and lanai. Great central location to see everything on the island!
Jun 27, 2019The condo unit is modern, clean and attractive. The view from the balcony is just like the photo, and lovely to sit on for breakfast and a drink at night. The hot tub and pool were nice, never crowded, plenty of chairs and lounges, even two covered gazebos, and the grounds pretty and well maintained. The outside bar looked nice though we never used it, and the small central lobby was attractive and getting the parking sticker from the receptionist was no difficulty. All was very clean and not one bug did we see even with the screen door open constantly. The temperature and ocean breeze were so perfect we never needed the fan or air conditioner (winter season—December). We loved sleeping to the sound of crashing waves! Garbage and recycling is convenient—at the foot of the stairs. The unit is on the third floor but that’s no problem for anyone in normal health. A basic kitchen with coffee pot, fridge, utensils, mugs, glasses, knives, microwave.. was all we needed, though there is an electric fry pan and barbecue grills on the property near the pool. Mostly it was quiet and serene, though the crowing roosters get annoying. However, they’re all over Kauai! The condo complex is right on a beautiful ocean beach and we happily swam there, though some advise not to because of the possible current. We stayed close to shore and felt safe. There are many stores and great restaurants really close by, and Kapaa is an excellent central location to tour all of Kauai. The complex itself has a dinner grill and breakfast restaurant that was so convenient— a minute from the room. There was also a bar with music that seemed popular with young people and was never loud or annoying. Esther is pleasant and responds immediately and the lockbox worked well. I definitely recommend her place and would certainly stay here again.
Jun 27, 2019We had an absolutely great stay at Esther's condo! She was a wonderful hostess and checked up on us to make sure everything was going great. The location couldn't have been more perfect, with Kapaa being central to everything on the island. The condo had all the amenities we needed and more to make a long trip comfortable, and there were beautiful beaches, great food, and shops an arms reach away. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we come, didn't want to leave. Mahalo Esther for a great experience!

Jun 27, 2019The view is lovely! The location between north and south shores was great for us to drive to snorkeling sites, kayak sites. We found good nearby restaurants. The condo area itself was quiet, pretty to look at, and unpresumptious with a variety of international and mainland guests.

Jun 27, 2019The view alone is worth the price of staying there, and what makes it even better is that the place is only a couple yards away from a truly breathtaking beach. It’s close to stores while still being very quiet. It has pretty much every appliance you could need for your stay, and is clean and organized. The host is very responsive and checked in with us every so often to ask how we were doing. It was an amazing experience and I could not have asked for a better place to stay.

Jun 27, 2019I would definitely stay at this place again and again! The view was incredible and the hot tub and pool was really nice to have. Inside, the AC was nice and cool and the room was super clean. Kapaa is the perfect place. It is nearby the airport and places like Walmart, Foodland (the grocery store), Longs Drugs and some really delicious local restaurants (like the DELICIOUS Coconut Cafe) . Kapaa is placed kind of in the middle of all of the popular places like the Na Pali Coast and Hanalei, so it is easy to travel everywhere. Overall, this was one of the best trips we have taken and Esther's place made it 100% more enjoyable. Esther was also really kind and followed up with us through text to make sure everything was okay. She is such a wonderful host.
Jun 27, 2019We hesitated about giving a harsh review for this AirBnB, but after staying there we believe that some issues need to be addressed. First, let me say that the location is great : lots of nice restaurants nearby, the beach is close, nice pool, etc. The first (minor) issue we had was finding the place: there are lots of building around, and we ended up walking around with lots of luggage before ending up asking the front desk, which we later were told we shouldn’t interact too much with because they have nothing to do with the owner. As for the unit itself, it has everything the ad indicates. We were a bit surprised by the heavy chloride smell, which didn’t give us the impression that the place was super clean. I myself am usually fine with any type of bed, but this one was rather uncomfortable. The biggest issue to us was that the AC stopped working around 9:00pm on our last evening there. It was excessively hot and humid in Kauai at that time, so that made the place really uncomfortable for us (and we live on Oahu, so are used to the heat). I was told by the owner that it was not possible to send someone before the morning (which is understandable, but still we were the ones who had to deal with the heat). I spent about an hour looking through the instruction manual online, did a manual reset, changed the batteries of the remote, but nothing worked. We decided to leave and book a hotel in Poipu for the night. I wouldn’t make a big case out of this if I didn’t get a text the following morning by the owner claiming that she sent someone to the unit and the AC was working perfectly fine. It might be the case, I don’t know, electronic apparels sometimes stop working and then work again for no reason, but I felt like I was accused of being dishonest. I don’t mean to be obnoxious, but I have a Ph.D. in mathematics and am a university professor, so I believe I would have managed to make the AC work in an hour of trying if there was something that could be done.

Esther ist eine sehr gute Gastgeberin, die sich sehr umfassend Wohl ihrer Gäste sorgt und die versucht, den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu machen. Wir können sie nur weiterempfehlen.

Jun 27, 2019Amazing location...view from lanai worth many words. Very well maintained and cozy studio conveniently located only 15 minutes from airport. Nice market plaza with big grocery store and local farmer market (Tuesday and Thursday) across the parking lot at the entrance. Beautiful beaches for swimming and snorkeling (few steps in South direction). Driving to the farthest places on North or South shores within 1-1.5 hours.
