Space
The room is totally set up to accommodate 5 guests. There's a TV with Netflix, Hulu, amazon, and HBO Now connected to the TV. There's also a window AC in the window if needed. If you must use the AC in the summer time the fee is $10 per night for each ac. You must turn it off when you are not home. if left on while you are out, we will turn it off for you, but you will have to let us know when you get back for us to turn it back on. The apartment is not shared it is totally private. I do keep some food and items in the kitchen and refrigerator sometimes. I don't use the kitchen to cook. I have my own kitchen upstairs where my family and I stay.

We live in a very quiet and safe neighborhood with lots of stores for groceries, banks, deli"s, located in the area.
Notes
We try to keep our place clean and comfortable, so we asked all guests to take off their shoes upon coming into the house. We also stress on guests ckeaning after themselves especially in areas that are shared.
Transit
Getting around from my place is very easy and convenient. we're right in the middle of 6 local buses. express buses takes you straight to Manhattan. Bus # 53 that goes to Brooklyn is 1 block away from my place. Bus to and from the ferry is right on the corner from my house. Two car rentals & Taxi service not far away.

Jun 27, 2019My family and I loved our time w Eddie and Lois enjoying their Airbnb! First of all, the rooms are spacious and inviting. Plenty of room for all 4 adults to spread out, haha. It was so nice to have a sitting area and kitchen, with the ability to close off the bedroom area when one of us succumbed to exhaustion from walking Manhattan or Brooklyn! The space is clean, and Lois does a great job with providing the little things that are quite a pain to do without when traveling, like iron and toiletries, etc. Oh, breakfast was great! Such a selection and she even accommodates your schedule! The most important thing though, is the graciousness of both of them!! They are lovely humans, haha, and it permeated all they did for us during our stay. I guess the highest endorsement is that I am about to book another stay with them

Jun 27, 2019Eddie and Lois were very nice hosts. Lois was very responsive via chat or text. Their apartment looked just like the pics. The queen size bed was firm and the whole place was clean. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
Jun 27, 2019Lois went out of her way to make us welcome. The place looked exactly like the pictures. Maybe a little bigger. There were ample towels, sheets and slippers. (No shoes in the apartment) We ended up parking on the street, but that wasn't a problem. We were disappointed that the kitchen did not have a coffee maker as we had to get going a little earlier than we would have preferred. We had a key to our flat, but not the outside door. Friday night we got locked out and had to bang on the door at 2:00am. Lois was very apologetic for the inconvenience. Saturday night, after an exhausting day in Manhattan we came back early and in her zealousness to accommodate us, Lois woke us at 10:30pm banging on the door to drop off the towels she had laundered, which was not necessary as there were plenty in the room.

The apartment was perfect for the four of us, a cute cozy apartment and warm breakfast and a smiling host, What more can you ask for? The price made this the best deal in New York!! I look forward to referring my friends and staying here again!

The place is clean and very spacious and all amenities are complete. I highly recommend staying at their place if you need to stay in the area. You will not regret it!

Respecto al barrio, es una zona tranquila muy bien comunicada con bus directo (enfrente de la casa) hacia el Ferry. Jun 27, 2019Eddie and Lois were great host! Be ready for stairs as it is on the third floor. However, the apartment has every thing you need they were right there to give us a tour and right there when we arrived and ready to leave. I felt very safe leaving my truck there for the day to take he bus 20 steps away to the free ferry. To grab a metro ticket for the bus it was only a block away. Then you can use the same ticket to access the subways in NYC. I have already recommended this apartment to friends! Thanks again!
Jun 27, 2019This place is very cozy and nice. Lois keeps it very well clean. She is very communicative and helps out however. She is always available and makes it known. The apartment itself is very clean and cozy, and you get to feel like you're living in NY instead of just visiting. I definitely recommend this to everyone who is interested.

Jun 27, 2019We generally enjoyed our stay at Eddie & Louis's place. The apartment is spacious, reasonably clean, has comfortable beds with good quality cotton sheets. We felt it was a good value. The host cleaned the bathroom and changed bedsheets/towels after 3 days which was a nice gesture. We were always able to find street parking next to the house. On the other hand, a few things did not sit well with us. To start out, the host somewhat distrusted us. Lois requested to see the whole family upon arrival at 1 am before giving us keys, so I had to go to the car and pick up my sleeping daughter (5 years old)/wake up the boys 10 and 11 and then all of us had to spend 15 minutes listening to house rules (may be a better would be to just provide instructions on the Airbnb site like other hosts). The bedroom was drafty, the wind coming through the window next to the bed was so strong that you could see the curtains move, even though windows were closed. The master bed is placed on a pedestal - it can be seen in the pictures - that has sharp metal edges, it can be an issue for families with kids: my child fell off a bed and hurt his back on that metal edge. I also felt the hosts were not fully comfortable with families that have young children. Even during message exchange prior to arrival Lois indicated her concern about the kids being noisy. Upon our departure she sent a flurry of very emotional messages blaming us for a scratch on the counter and a chip in the enamel on the stove. We tried to explain that we were not doing anything that could have possibly caused that kind of damage. She said that it might have been our kids playing with sharp objects. Finally I was surprised to see the hosts storing a lot of their own items outside of "private" areas. There was a drum set by the kitchen, the fridge had a lot of hosts' food and there was a host suitcase next to one of the beds.

Jun 27, 2019Rapport qualité/prix impeccable. Le bus 44 est à l'angle de la maison ce qui est très pratique pour accéder au Ferry (gratuit) qui nous amène à Manhattan tous les jours. Ricky est très serviable et arrangeant. Il vient vous chercher et vous ramène à l'aéroport. Si vous avez le moindre problème sur place, vous pouvez l'appeler, il saura vous rendre service.

Jun 27, 2019We didn't actually get to meet eddie and Lois as we got to Staten Island around 2 in the morning. It was a little complicated finding the train to the ferry and then the ferry ride is about 30 minutes long to Staten Island. As far as the house goes it was cozy and very clean. The only thing that I would have made the stay better was if they had bottled water instead of just the tap. :)
Jun 27, 2019The house was clean and comfortable. It is a one minute walk to the bus and the bus to the ferry is a very easy ride. There are several stores in the area to pick up anything you might need. Overall, a good place to stay. Lois is very kind and quickly got back to me with any questions I had.
Jun 27, 2019It was great to have a home base while exploring NYC that felt like a home. We were very comfortable at Eddie & Lois's place, it felt natural to just relax! It was a quick trip this time but everyone we met was so very friendly and kind. Great communication, safe, quick bus ride to the Staten Island ferry, delicious bagel shop just a few blocks away (check out their rainbow bagels!!) lovely stay, Thank you!!
Jun 27, 2019Eddie and Lois are very nice, family-oriented people. This is a great location to get in and out of NYC easily. Free parking is everywhere here. The living room is quite large and we were able to place a large board game on the floor and spread out as a family. There is also great coffee (Fab Coffee is an easy walk), diner (Kings Diner), pizza and bagels. The zoo is a very short distance and the kids had a great time.

Jun 27, 2019The space was comfortable and clean, and Lois was extremely reachable and thoughtful through our entire trip. A couple things to note before you book, though: I didn't realize how far Staten Island is. My fault-- but it made for very long days during our trip. Yes, the ferry is free, but you will need to take a bus or Uber to the station. (There is a bus stop right around the corner, so this is easy, but does take 10ish minutes.) The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes. All in all, plan about 1 hour to get into or out of Manhattan. Second: Lois is not fooling around with rules. They are extremely strict about everything in the house manual, including no shoes, no using the desk unless you're a business traveler, etc. I completely understand why they're in place, but it's a lot to remember and just more intense than I have usually experienced at an AirBnb. I was very embarrassed when we forgot to take off our shoes for just a few minutes after returning late one night (it's easy to forget-- there aren't any seats in near the door), and we got a message (kindly) reminding we needed to take them off. Lastly, I was surprised to find that all of the cabinets, drawers, and fridge were full of the hosts' personal items. It was a little unclear where the boundaries were between what we could use and what we were supposed to leave alone, which was kind of stressful because after the shoes incident I was on high alert to be following the rules. There was a designated chest of drawers in the bedroom, but we weren't quite sure where we were supposed to put our bathroom or food items.

Jun 27, 2019Wonderful couple and incredibly helpful. They let us leave our bags before our check-in time to accommodate our plans in the city, which helped us immensely! It was clean, nicely sized, and taking the ferry into the city made it easy. The bedroom had a separate a/c unit which was nice bc it did get warm throughout the day. Lois and Eddie were very responsive to any questions that I had prior to our stay and they offered us transportation back to the airport upon our departure. Highly recommend a stay at their place!!

Lois is very welcoming and made us feel right at home. I will definitely stay here in the future and I recommend it to any traveler who doesn't mind the commute in and out of the city. We actually enjoyed the free ferry ride back to Staten Island at night time. It was relaxing and a great way to view the city lights at night.

Jun 27, 2019Meine drei Kind (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ) und ich haben es genossen, jeden Morgen aus der Ruhe auf Staten Island aufzubrechen und abends dorthin zurückzukehren. Die 25 min auf der Fähre inclusive Aussicht auf Manhattan und umgeben von tollen Menschen scheinen zwar aufwendig, aber allemal lohnenswert. Die Busse fuhren verlässlich und pünktlich bis in die Nacht hinein. Dafür erwartet einen ein ruhiger Rückzugsort mit viel Platz, gut gekühlt und wunderbaren hilfsbereiten Menschen als Gastgeber. Jederzeit wieder.
Jun 27, 2019The place is situated in a quiet part of Staten Island. (Expensive) shops but also dunkin donuts etc. are nearby. We liked that there was air conditioning, a clean pool, Netflix etc., a lot of food and of course really helpful and nice hosts! We also had everything we needed to cook. Only the kitchen could be cleaner and the fridge more tidied up! With waiting for the ferry it took about an hour to reach NYC for 2,70$. To sum it up, it was a really nice stay and I would definitely recommend it! You did a really great job!

Jun 27, 2019The place is actually far from New York City. You will need to take at least 15minute bus ride then a 30mins ferry ride to New York. The price of the accommodation is cheap and the room is nice too. But, it's a bit time consuming to travel around New York City and the transportation fee is a bit expensive. Usually the checkout time is flexible, but for my case the owner didn't let me know in advance that I need to checkout earlier and it is very hectic for us to pack and call uber. Besides, we had few warning messages from the owner saying that our footsteps are too loud and we keep making noises in the middle of the night. I understand that there's no party policy in the house so me and my friends we didn't even organised any parties and we tried to minimise our voices and movements.
Jun 27, 2019We had a late flight. Arrived at the home around 11 pm. Lois did great accommodating with that. We got settled in the home, listened to the house rules. About 20 mins after being there we saw a bug that looked like a roach. Asked Lois if it was a roach and she denied that and said she does not have roaches here. Lois tried to kill it but I believe it went under the radiator. Lois left. Then one of my friends saw the roach on top of her luggage. And killed it.I woke up the next morning to a text from Lois admitting that it was a roach, advised her that we had killed it last night. Accidentally left the AC on while we were out. Homeowners came while we were away to turn it off, never got to meet Eddie but Shaun and Lois were very nice and accommodating. Commute to Manhattan was apx 1 hour by transit. Cute little shops nearby.

Jun 27, 2019Our experience in Eddie & Lois’s Home was simply wonderful. The home is located in a very safe part of Staten island. Lois & Eddie greeted us with a smile and walked us through any questions we had about venturing around NYC for the Macy’s Day Parade. Lois had her cellphone on her at all times to assist us if we needed to get a hold of her. The apartment was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The beds were a dream to sleep on! The apartment was warm and cozy after a long day in the city. It was like coming home. I look forward to returning to NYC and staying with Lois and Eddie again. We couldn’t have ask for better host!! Jun 27, 2019Beautiful, secured space! We felt safe and comfortable staying here and absolutely loved the home. Lois was very helpful and kind. My family took Uber to the ferry terminal for simplicity, so it ended up being about a 45 minutes ride into the city.
Jun 27, 2019While we liked our host, we were disappointed in the place. Our check in was rocky and scattered. The place was not as warm and inviting as the pictures portray. The kitchen was under stocked with cooking utensils. There were pantry moths and a lot of food in the cabinets and fridge. There were broken drawers and banged up furniture. The whole Place smelled like perfum from plug ins. Overall, we needed a place to sleep and make breakfast, which this place did for us, but had we needed to stay in more, it would not have fit our needs. We didn’t feel like it was worth what we paid, and would not stay here again.

Eddie and Lois were the best hosts you can imagine, so helpful and kind, taking care of us as if we were family. We loved our stay there and would always come back if we can and highly recommend it to anyone! It takes some time to get to downtown Manhattan if you use public transportation, but it was always a nice trip with the staten island ferry and totally worth it considering what a beautiful apartment it is and therefore very cheap. It was in a really nice neighbourhood, with everything you need close by. The apartment itself is very spacious and light, you just feel like home immediately, it is even prettier than in the fotos! Eddie and Lois are easy going, gave us valuable advice and were always there for us instantly. We could have not been happier with our stay!

Jun 27, 2019C'est un bel appartement très bien situé, l'arrêt de bus est juste à côté de la maison. De bons commerces de proximité pour faire ses courses alimentaires. Le ferry pour se rendre sur Manatthan est gratuit et offre la vue sur la ville, ses gratte-ciels et la statue de la liberté.

Jun 27, 2019Eddie and Lois's place was a great value. It's about a 15 min. drive to the ferry. We took cabs but we could have just as easily drove and parked closer to take the ferry which is free. It was a great location for us since the bike ride we participated in ended in Staten Island. There is a great brunch place down the street called Bruno's that is an Italian Bakery. They serve you fruit and baked goods before they bring out your meal, it was delicious!

I would suggest doing a bit of essential food shopping before coming so that you can have breakfast,coffee,etc at home. I would stay again.

My friends and I had never stayed on Staten Island before, and Lois gave us tips on navigating the bus system and getting to the ferry to Manhattan. We would stay here again anytime we come to the city. We loved it!

We took the ferry to the city everyday and there is a bus to the ferry right by the house which is extremely convenient. Traveling to the city was very easy from this location. The room itself was very spacious and clean. Lois is friendly and quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Overall it was a great trip!
Jun 27, 2019Lois was very nice. She made checking in/out very easy. They made sure that the climate in the room was comfortable for us. They were great hosts and I would use them again in the future if I ever take another trip to New York.
Jun 27, 2019Had an okay stay at this place, although there were many many mosquitoes. Eddy and Lois couldn't help this ofcourse, but an itchy trip is not an amazing trip. When we were leaving, I had some trouble with Lois over how we left the place. It is resolved, but you should know that this is not a good Airbnb if you are messy or very forgetful.

Jun 27, 2019The apartment is exactly as advertised. Very spacious-we particularly liked being high up in the house, affording us lots of privacy. I particularly liked the Queen Bed on the raised platform in the bedroom. I felt like a Queen, sleeping up there. Being without shoes on that lovely wooden floor also felt nice and cozy-not at all a hassle-even for my husband who is an In-the-House-Shoe Guy. Enjoy your stay at this Cozy Hideaway.
Jun 27, 2019This is a great place to stay when visiting NYC. Bus stop to the free ferry is right on the corner. My three friends and I felt safe walking around the neighborhood at night. The apartment was nice and clean and the check in was a piece of cake. They are great hosts and responded quickly to any questions! Thanks for an awesome stay!

Jun 27, 2019propre, bien situé pour faire du touriste à Manhattan. le bus est au coin de la rue. par contre si vous prévoyez partir la journée avec un déjeuner au logis. il vous manquera quelque article de bas, comme exemple , un grille pain ou tout simplement des tasses pour un café. dans l'ensemble c'était bien.
