The space is a studio condo that we have converted to feel like a full living space. Breakfast table, 4-person dining table, swiveling TV, full size bed, outdoor couch, and plenty of closet space make this small space feel larger than it is! The grounds and surrounding area are tropical and gorgeous. A short walk to wailoa pond, coconut island, and bayfront Hilo would be a great start for anyone's trip.

Neighborhood Overview
Location, location, location! The condo is located in tropical Hilo, steps from Wailoa Pond State Park, giving it a serene and beautiful atmosphere. Walkable to hilo's farmers market, bayfront, coconut island, kayaking, great restaurants, and so much more. A short drive to Carl Smith Beach Park (turtles are common there), Richardson Beach, Reed's Bay, Rainbow Falls, Banyan Drive, and more.
Notes
The second bed is a fold out futon. We have sheets and a mattress pad to make it more comfortable, and it would easily fit two children or one adult.
Transit
The condo is walkable to many things, but a rental car is always a good idea to make sure you see everything on the big island!
Access
Guests will have access to the entire condo(except the cleaner's closet), the laundry facilities at the end of the hall, the pool and gazebo, all kitchen utensils and appliances(blender, microwave, rice cooker, and more included).

I loved staying at this adorable newly remodeled studio. Being walking distance to a natural food grocery and many other food options is fantastic. I took advantage of the fully stocked kitchen, and the relaxing pool. It was so nice to have my morning tea or evening cocktail on the cozy lanai while watching the amazing Hawaiian sky change colors. Jeff was great with communication from the start. Access was so easy with a lockbox on the door. I felt right at home as soon as I walked in with the cute modern furnishings. There was always a parking spot available, so you don't have to walk very far with your groceries. I would recommend this spot for anyone wanting to stay at an affordable/adorable place in Hilo.
Jun 27, 2019Thank you for making your studio available on AirBnB. My girlfriend and I quickly fell in love with the amenities, location, and all the comforts that made it feel even more like home. We did not get much of a chance the stay and relax much due to a tightly packed schedule, but during the times we were there, we could not stop talking about the great little touches. Perfect location, perfect property, and easy check-in/check-out makes it easy to recommend the studio for couples and small families.
Jun 27, 2019I stayed at this place for two nights. It looked much nicer in the inside than out. Probably the best condo there. It's small but big enough for two people. Clean and provided towels/toiletries/blankets. I let my buddy have the bed and I slept in on the couch. My only complaint is that there was someone that stayed a couple nights before we did, the extra comforter wasn't cleaned. It smelled like the last person who used it. However I'm sure sheets on the bed were clean. I would recommend this space to anyone, it's close to downtown Hilo and easy parking.

Jun 27, 2019Jeffrey's apartment was a great little studio! Very clean and had everything we needed during our stay. The location was not too far from Downtown Hilo and the Hilo Airport, which provided easy access to what we had planned during our trip. We loved relaxing back porch which we were able to enjoy breakfast each morning as well! The only complaint we had was the upstairs neighbors (sounded like a family of elephants) that stomped around starting at 6am each morning. Other than that, the apartment was great!
Jun 27, 2019The condo is a perfect little home away from home. Sitting on the lanai in the morning with my coffee was perfection and the kitchen had everything we needed so we didn't have to eat out every meal! Jeffrey is great with any and all questions! I hope to stay here again!!

Jun 27, 2019Jeff and Alex's apartment is super close to the airport, convenient for me when needing to catch an early morning flight. I had a short stay, comfortable, and centrally located within Hilo. The apartment is small, but clean with kitchen and fridge for those that prefer to cook meals instead of eating out. Great for single travelers!

I was surprised to find a bottle of wine as greeting gift. Although I didn't meet Jeffrey in person, I deeply felt his hospitality. Thank you for letting us stay.
Jun 27, 2019The villa is just beside Hawaii state park, so surrounded by wild trees and flowers. Large pond is at back ground, so I enjoyed the appearance of waterfowls just like ducks, mandarin ducks, and NeNe:Hawaiian gooses. However It's not so far from downtown. I can walk to the famous cookie company: Big Island Candies about 7~8minutes. This villa must be so famous when built, appearance's maintenance is not perfect right now. But inside of the room is fashionable by owner's good sense, comfortable and clean. There are various numbers of spices, tea,coffee and beans at kitchen. I enjoyed breakfast at the terrace looking pool at downstairs. Jun 27, 2019My parents and I stayed at Jeffrey's place for 3 days. It was absolutely lovely. We loved everything, especially the kitchen! Location is perfect, only 5 min from the Hilo airport. Jeffrey is super easy to talk to, definitely a wonderful host.

Jun 27, 2019Jeffrey's place is very well designed and decorated. The kitchen was well laid out and very functional given the studio size. The full-sized memory foam bed was pretty comfy (Ok for smaller sized couple like us, lol) and the rainfall showerhead was great. The wifi worked well and the apartment is close to sites like Carlsmith Beach and downtown Hilo. Jeffrey communicated clearly and provided a detailed and clear binder with house rules and lots of recommendations for things to do in the area. We found it very helpful. Check in was a breeze with the lock box near the door. There is ample parking. I would mention to women traveling alone or parents with kids, we did have concerns with the condo complex itself. It is in the Waiakea Villas. The building exterior was a bit rough looking and the sound insulation was poor. Some of the tenants/guests acted in ways that made us uncomfortable. We didn't have anything bad happen to us, but as a Waiakea Villas tenant wrote in her review of the complex in 2016 on TripAdvisor, "It wouldn't be a bad idea to be a little careful around here."

Jun 27, 2019This was a very clean and organised unit. It was a well thought out layout. Our family of 4 fit into the unit, with our 6 yr old twin daughters sleeping on the futon sofa bed. It was a very small bed so I am not sure if anyone larger than them would be able to share the sofa bed, I would say the second bed is more suited for a single person. The location of the unit within the complex meant we had a great view of the pool and it was a nice relaxing place to sit and enjoy dinner and a drink. We were not able to walk to local places from this unit (shops and restaurants), but we had a car so it was not a problem to drive to wherever we needed to go. Hilo is a great base to see this side of the island, including the Volcano National Park which is only an hour drive away. The compact kitchen area was perfect for our short trip, we were able to prepare simple meals using the additional spices and condiments provided in the unit. Thanks for allowing us to stay in your apartment.

Jun 27, 2019Jeffrey's place is great! If you are looking for a place in Hilo close to all the hot spots Jeffrey's condo is the place to be! Very easy to get to. Close by to the markets. His kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make a meal for yourself! That came in handy! He leaves a bottle of wine and everything you need to have a pleasant stay!

I was impressed with the little details like the sunscreen, bug spray and a first aid kit. Although I don't drink wine, it was a very nice touch to see the bottle for the guests. I really enjoyed staying at his place. Great location and so clean. An amazing value.

Jun 27, 2019This was a very comfortable studio and quite spacious, so we never felt cramped. We spent a lot of time on the lanai, and the pool was delightful. The only negatives were the poor lighting, but that has been common on our trip, and the noisy neighbours upstairs, but they didn't keep it up late and so didn't interfere with our early nights.

Jun 27, 2019Jeffrey's place is quite central in Hilo - he leaves an excellent guide to area attractions, dining, and other things to do in the area. The unit is equipped with everything you need to cook, including a bottle of wine for the guests! The studio itself was quite large. As other guests have noted, the lighting it a bit dim in the evenings, and as the unit is located in a residential area, you will hear families using the pool area, and footsteps from the unit above both early and late in the day. Check in was a breeze, and Jeffrey was available to answer our questions and checked in on us during our stay. Thanks Jeffrey!

Jun 27, 2019Great safe, secure location minutes from Downtown Hilo. Apartment has everything you could ask for (large kitchen, on-site laundry) and is very functional for a space of its size. Sadly we didn't get to use the pool as it rained for most of our stay, but the facilities looked good. Excellent manual of local attractions provided by the host (everyone should try out Miyo's Homestyle Japanese a few minutes away).
Jun 27, 2019The location was really great easy to go everywhere. The studio was really nice to the only problem is that we heard a lot the upstairs neighbors and we got wakes up at 5 am when they loudly walk, but its the only thing that happen.

Jun 27, 2019Jeffrey’s Place was great for people who want to explore the Hilo area. It’s super close to anything you need in town. I particularly enjoyed the waterfalls that are a 10-15 min drive from the place. The check in process and the communication was great. The place was clean. There’s some toiletries that were provided which was welcomed as well.

Jun 27, 2019My sisters and I stayed here for one night. It is minutes away from the ITO airport, which was very convenient for us. It’s small, but cozy and perfect for 2-3 guests. It’s even a great spot to stay if you’re traveling alone. Jeffrey was very responsive, and check-in was a breeze. Sad we couldn’t stay longer.

Cozy apartment and about a 5 minute drive from anything you may want (airport, restaurants, grocery stores, farmers market, & beaches!) Jeffrey was very prompt and friendly when responding to any questions we had. We loved it here and would recommend to anyone staying on the Hilo side of the Big Island!!

Jun 27, 2019Jeffrey's place is cute and convenient! Not only is it a great base for exploring the Hilo side of the island, it also has an awesome kitchen and a relaxing lanai. Jeffrey also answered all our questions right away- very quick and communicative. The upstairs neighbors are quite loud, which is no fault of Jeffrey's, but it's something to take into consideration if you're a very light sleeper. Otherwise, no complaints as we had an awesome stay here. Thank you!

Jun 27, 2019Based on the good reviews, we've booked to stay 10 nights in this condo. It is one room with a kitchen in the one corner and bed and couch on the other side. The kitchen is fully equipped with enough pots, pans, glasses, spices, teas etc. Convenient if you want to cook for yourself. There is a separate laundry room down the hallway where you can wash your laundry and dry it for $2 each (meaning a wash and a dry will cost $4). Enough washing liquid were left for our use during our stay. The bathroom is around the corner equipped with a shower in the bath, toilet and basin. Enough toilet paper for nearly our whole stay were left for us as well as shampoo etc. Before the bathroom is a small wardrobe where we could unpack some of our clothes. Conveniently an umbrella was also left in the condo, as we were unfortunate with the weather. Wifi was excellent and we could work on our cloud server without any hick-ups. The location is good, we love to walk so it was no problem for us to walk into the centre of town to the restaurants etc. Although I do think it might be too far for some people or if you travel with small children. There were also 3 restaurants a little bit closer where we enjoyed good food. More than enough parking space outside the condo. The only negative which happens to be a big negative for us. The upstairs neighbour and her grown up sons. We were staying for 10 nights and without an exception we were woken up each morning around 5:30am by their loud walking. After that they switched on the television, sometimes so loud we struggled to have a conversation on the balcony with each other. Not to mention them swearing, coughing, smoking weed and spitting over the balcony in our view. It really spoiled our stay. This normally continued until noon after which it quieted down. Perhaps if we have stayed a shorter period it wouldn't have affected us that much, but this was our dream holiday and last thing we needed on a daily basis. Our booking was 90% based on the good reviews and some people did mention the noisy neighbours. Perhaps we just really had it unlucky, I don't know. In all honestly the owner did offer (after our stay) to refund some of the money. Unfortunately nothing can give us the time back we have lost or change our memories of our stay. I will recommend this condo for shorter stays to explore the Hilo area and volcanoes. After that move on and stay in different places around the island to make the most of your stay.

Jeffery was a easy to get in touch with and very helpful, especially when I needed assistance. Would recommend staying!

Jun 27, 2019The stay: Cleanliness: - Could be better, dust and there was a big stain in the shower of what looks to be an old rusted mat in the shower. - The carpet in the main room had a few stains on it - Underneath the couch was a lot of dust and dirt - The Carpet at the main door was very small, and is not ideal for drying shoes or having more than one. So, if it's a rainy day be prepared for a very wet floor. Amenities: - Has a stove, dishwasher, oven, nice shower and shower head, nice toilet amenities - Wifi works well - No Cable TV, just dvd player and apple tv but is a paid per movie/tv series basis - pool access key which is nice - Lanai / balcony has a very nice view of the pool and the back - Only 1 toilet paper roll, i bought a lot to leave for the next guest as previous airbnb hosts leave at least 2 for the stay. - no water to drink, bought a case of local bottled water and left in the fridge for the next guest - no paper towels, but 2 towels for me was provided. - No elevators, so prepare to go up a level/down a level (if carrying heavy luggage, be careful) Overall experience: - Location is very good, as it is in the downtown core of Hilo - Free Parking - The host leaves a full guide of everything to do on the island and main attractions to see - bed sheets and pillows were clean - not as clean as the pictures described. - I'd recommend the place if you're okay to clean up the place as you stay and not have high expectations of the cleanliness of the floor and shower. The location, wifi and recommendations by the host made the stay better.

I appreciated how clean it was, and it was a nice touch having the fan and lights on for us for our arrival. It truly felt like a place with heart Which made us feel welcome and as if we had a piece of home with us on our travels.

Jun 27, 2019Spacious studio with well equipped kitchen facilities. Location is good providing you have a car - 5 minute drive to downtown or to the airport. Plenty of parking available. Close drive to supermarkets, cafe's and restaurants. We were a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment, could definitely benefit with a professional clean.

Jun 27, 2019We loved staying at Jeffrey's! It's an adorable studio in a cute little community. There is pool access and laundry access, which were big for us. But, the best part of the whole place, is the bed and pillows. We LOVED how comfortable the bed and pillows were. Its not your typical cheap BnB mattress and linen set; we got excellent sleep on a quality mattress!
Jun 27, 2019Jeffrey's place was a nice place to come back to recharge after a long day. Host was very responsive and the condo unit was very clean and well kept. It is VERY close to the airport and just a short 5 minute drive to downtown Hilo. I would stay here again for sure the next time we return to Hilo!

Jun 27, 2019Das Appartment war ordentlich und sauber, aber eben in dem landesüblichen Stil. Leider war der Ofen defekt, aber Jeffrey hat sofort versucht, das Problem zu beheben. Leider war es nicht möglich, mehr als einen Nachrichten- oder Sportsender abends/ nachts zu sehen. Insgesamt war es aber ein gelungener Aufenthalt mit wunderbarem Frühstück auf dem Balkon!
Jun 27, 2019We stayed here only for one night, but loved this cute studio. All the things you need to cook a yummy breakfast. The interior decor is very nice too. Best of all were Jeffrey’s lightning speed answers when we had questions about the laundry room in the early morning. Will stay here again if in Hilo!

Jun 27, 2019Super cute studio apartment that is well equipped with great amenities including a well stocked kitchen, AC and a pool. Jeffrey was great to deal with and very accommodating. The suite is centrally located for easy access to downtown or highways. Upstairs neighbours were noisy as other reviews mentioned but we were able to get a great sleep anyhow.

Jun 27, 2019This nicely furnished studio is in an older complex that looks like it might be making a comeback. Good location and value. We had early morning stompers over us, but there's no control over that. The unit is well stocked and there are decent amenities on the property.

Jun 27, 2019Jeffreys Wohnung ist wie beschrieben. Es liegt sehr zentral und hat eine schnelle Anbindung an den Flughafen. Wir einen kurzen Aufenthalt, um die Vilkane zu erkunden, ist die Wohnung perfekt. Sie ist vollständig ausgestattet, geräumig und sauber. Die Nachbarn über der Wohnung sind - wie andere Bewertjngen es schon geschrieben haben - wirklich etwas lauter. Aber da wir nur zum Schlafen da waren, war es nicht so schlimm. Wir würden immer wieder Jeffrey wählen!

Jun 27, 2019Wir durften in Jeffrey´s Studio für 4 Nächte übernachten. Entgegen der Angaben zum Check-In konnten wir mit vorheriger Rücksprache bereits früher einchecken. Das Studio liegt in der Nähe des Stadtzentrums von Hilo, welches man zu Fuß oder mit dem Auto gut erreichen kann, genauso liegt der Flughafen in guter Nähe (kein Fluglärm). Die Ausstattung des Studios ist sehr gut. Es fehlte an nichts, selbst gewisse Grundnahrungsmittel waren vorhanden und durften auch mitbenutzt werden. In allem würden wir jederzeit wieder bei Jeffrey´s Studio einchecken. Mahalo :)
Jun 27, 2019Pros: Good location, relatively clean Cons: VERY loud at night and early morning, underpowered air conditioner, unresponsive owner We stayed for two nights, Saturday - Monday. The condo is in a good location, close to the airport and downtown. Area is nice, no safety/security issues. The condo bathroom was not the cleanest but the rest of the unit was very clean. The condo is on the second floor of a three-floor building that is made out of wood and is probably 20-30 years old. To say that this building is loud is an understatement. Read the other reviews here and you'll notice a theme that it can be very loud, particularly the upstairs neighbour. We were optimistic and positive when we got there, but it was the loudest condo we've ever rented. The upstairs neighbour was up at 5:30am on Sunday morning rearranging furniture and generally was extremely loud, although we weren't sure if the noise was the neighbour specifically or just the building's wooden construction and age. The television is pretty much worthless. No cable, no dvd's but if you bring your own there is a dvd player. The apple tv did not work when we were there and we called the owner (Jeffrey) four times over our two day stay with no response from him. In all fairness, we did not leave voicemail messages, but we did call multiple times over a 2-day period. The air conditioner was ridiculously underpowered and if you arrive on a warm day or in the summer it could be an issue. We got there at 7pm on an unusually warm/humid September day and the air conditioner is so small and underpowered that it took 6 hours to cool the unit down enough to sleep. Overall, I would say that the biggest disappointments were the completely unresponsive owner and the extent of the noise from the upstairs neighbour at late/early hours of the day. You get what you pay for, and we will definitely not be staying here again.

Jun 27, 2019Die Unterkunft entspricht ziemlich genau den Angaben und Fotos aus der Beschreibung. Das zuvor in anderen Bewertungen beschriebene Lautstärkeproblem (sicherlich der Tatsache eines Holzhauses geschuldet) besteht weiterhin. Dafür kann Jeffrey aber nichts. Alles andere war bestens!

Jun 27, 2019The check in process was easy and the apartment was clean when we arrived. The space is small but the kitchen area was well stocked with all the essentials needed for cooking and eating. There is no real functional inside dining room table but there is a small foldout table for that purpose. The bed is truly a full sized bed, which is small for 2 people. There is no dresser or chest to store clothing or place suitcases so we had to use the couch and floor. The free-standing closet outside the bathroom is small and did not have much space to put clothing. Jeffrey had the bathroom stocked with soap, shampoo and conditioner as well as plenty of clean towels. There is wireless internet but we could not figure out how to work the television. The outside lanai is spacious and has a couch, coffee table and dining table, which we used rather than the indoor foldout table. The location seemed to be more in a residential area than an area for vacationers. It is not close to restaurants or grocery stores and it is not near the water. It is a bit of a drive to get to any of the beach parks for swimming or snorkeling.

Jun 27, 2019Very clean and well appointed! Residential, chosen for a central location to all we would be doing. As others have mentioned it sounds like the upstairs neighbors are stomping, not the fault of the hosts-ear plugs did the trick for us-which I typically use when traveling. Lovely pool, closes at 7pm so missed using using it by the time we got settled. Laundry room close to unit. Lots of open parking. A\C did the trick. Neat place !

Jun 27, 2019Pour : Bonne situation, relativement propre, quartier sûr et cuisine très équipée (avec tout ce qui est nécessaire pour cuisiner et un lave-vaisselle) ! Contre : Lit trop petit pour deux personnes, voisins très bruyants le matin et le soir, carcasses de voiture abandonnées sur le parking de la résidence donnant une atmosphère particulière, pas d'ascenseur pour monter les valises au deuxième étage et appartement relativement sombre après le couché du soleil.

Jun 27, 2019Ein wirklich hübsches Apartment mit guter Atmosphäre und einer toll ausgestatteten Küche. Die Wohnung wirkt heller und größer als auf den Bildern. Das Highlight ist sicherlich auchder zum Pool ausgerichtete Balkon auf dem man hervorragend Frühstücken kann. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut und Jeffrey unkompliziert und locker was den Check- in und out betrifft. Vielen lieben Dank dafür ;)
Jun 27, 2019This place is a good location to everything. Downtown is like 5 min drive away and most trails are like 15 min car ride away. This studio has the full kitchen with refrigerator and stove. It came equipped with cooking utensils and knives. My complaint is that the knives are not sharp at all. The scissor was the best knife. I was here for a week and there wasn’t enough toilet paper in stock. This place is small and better suited for a single person or a couple who don’t mind noises. I understand that this is an apartment complex and it is inevitable that you will hear your neighbors since you share walls. However, The upstairs has a large dog that you can hear running around and loud neighbors who were arguing at 6am when I was trying to sleep. They are so loud and it’s non stop. The noise is at all hours and they make the walls shake so the picture frames move side ways. I contacted the host about it and he said it was a known issue and he would contact someone. Unfortunately, The noise only stopped for a few hours... also, the shower pressure sucks. If the upstairs neighbor didn’t wake me up so early everyday than I think I would enjoy my vacation/stay more.

Jun 27, 2019This is a residential complex and very loud at times. It sounded like a herd of elephants above us starting at 5 am. The place is very small but it was fine for me and my daughter. Other than the kitchen being fairly dirty and the complex itself being really loud it is a very good location.
Jun 27, 2019We arrived late at night for our flight & a security guard was so nice to help us to find our building on the other side of the complex. The condo was a good size with large, well equipped kitchen. The kitchen had a good set of utensils and even a nice selection of food items. The apartment was clean, well organized, and nicely decorated. The bathroom was clean and also well stocked with towels and other items. The living room area had a nice sofa, and on the deck was a comfortable love-seat and dining table. We really liked the location and surroundings of this airbnb. For example, we were happily awaken by bull frogs and birds in the morning & surprised to see friendly chicken & ducks around lagoon. The location of this airbnb is very convenient. There are so many nice restaurants nearby ( we had a rental car) & a couple of great lunch takeout lined with locals. We walked around several nice state parks & local beaches just within 20min drive. We also enjoyed volcanic NP about an hour drive. We felt safe in the area, and the people in the apartment complex were friendly. For example, a neighbor was nice to make the change for us when we needed it to do laundry. The only negative we experienced is that the neighbor in the upstairs apartment were noisy. Between 6 and 8 am, and again in the evening the neighbors made a lot of noise furiously stomping back and forth. There also appeared to be a big dog that stomped around all day. These negatives were far outweighed by its positives. In summary, we had a great time stay at this apt as different environment.
Jun 27, 2019Jeffrey’s place is near everything. It’s a small studio but perfect for 2-3 people. The back deck was a great spot to hang out. The only complaint we have was from the morning. The neighbors above us sounded like they were tossing furniture around and the whole building was shaking (pretty sure it was dogs though). Overall I would recommend!

We enjoyed having a nice place that was within easy driving distance to shopping and restaurants but away from traffic and hustle bustle. The dogs and chickens just added to the ambience! Everything we needed immediately was available so we did not feel the need to rush out shopping after a long day of travel.
Jun 27, 2019The location was superb definitely the right size for a party of 3, too busy to enjoy the pool but the balcony was great despite the dogs upstairs. No need for an alarm the kids(dogs) will wake you early enough. I would definitely rent from Jeff again. We found a quaint local restaurant “Ken’s House of Pancakes” super close to Jeff’s and a must to visit.
