You rent a nice bedroom with one bed that can sleep up to two people, a nightstand and a closet. However, you are free to use the kitchen and living/dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed for cooking and cleaning, just clean up after yourself when you are done. The other two rooms are occupied by other Airbnb guests and they are also free to use the kitchen and living room/dining room area. This is a great place to mingle and meet interesting people from all over the world :)

Neighborhood Overview
Astoria/Long Island City is one of the safest neighborhoods in New York City. The house is conveniently located close to 24 hr supermarket, shops, cafes, bars and a five minute walk to The Noguchi Museum and Socrates Sculpture Park. Check out bar Barn on 21st street and 30th ave, also check out Astoria Park and its view of New York City or just walk to 31st ave and Vernon Blvd and check out the view of the city : )
Notes
Myself or my cleaning lady/sister comes around between 11am and 3pm to clean the apt so please be respectful. We don't clean your room daily but we do take care of the common area. We offer the living room area where guests who want to drop off their bags before check in time or after check in time can do so, and go about the city. So if you have a late flight or travel plans you can enjoy your last day without carrying your bags around :)
Transit
The apt is a 10 minute walk to the N/Q Broadway Subway stop and 20 minutes outside of midtown Manhattan. Don't forget an all American breakfast around the corner at Bell Aire Diner .

Check-in was easy and the host was careful to make sure we had all the right information to get into the apartment and on the internet easily. Would stay here again, though note that of course it's a little bit of a walk to the subway / restaurants. Thanks for hosting us!

Jun 27, 2019Very basic affordable spot, very close to the Astoria ferry and metro so easy to get in to the city! Close to great Greek food in Astoria and the room was comfortable and the neighborhood was nice and quiet. The bathroom is a little dirty but otherwise a great stay!
Jun 27, 2019Staying at Bloz's place was really perfect for me. Quiet during the night and only 10 mins to the subway station. For me the ideal location for my city trip as I only spent the nights there and was gone all day roaming about New York. I would re-visit.
Jun 27, 2019The light switch in the main room did nothing. The shower faucet is... eccentric, needs replacing. But works just fine. Had a good shower. Had a great night's sleep. And the location is great. Right between the East River ---- and great views and walking -- and all the convenient restaurants on Broadway.

It could be great, however, people who occupied the other two rooms (whom you are supposed to share kitchen, bathroom and common area with) didn't know about the house rules... They were okay with leaving whole bunch of women hair everywhere or tons of water on the floor... They also liked to occupy the bathroom for 40 minutes just for fun in the mornings. So it felt like the host explained the house rules only to us and tried to find the most disgusting people for the other two rooms. Very sad.

Jun 27, 2019I'd like to give this spot 4 stars as Bloz was so helpful upon check in when the key we were provided did not work in our room door to lock it. Bloz provided a safe spot for us to lock our bags and quickly provided a new key. The upkeep and maintenance of the space is what prevents a 4 or 5 rating. The hallway leading to apartment looks like it could be vacuumed and smells musty as well as the apartment itself. The Bathroom could use repairs and to be cleaned. The bedroom was clean and the shower was warm. We didn't spend a ton of time at the space and only spent 2 nights there, so it provided what I needed, a bed and a shower. It is a good spot for a 1 or 2 night stay.

Jun 27, 2019This was a last minute trip and found this place! It had everything we needed. My sister and I were not planning on using the place other than for sleeping. We stayed here for 2 days and it had everything we needed. It was easy to find. It was difficult to find parking but we were able to park a few streets down. We didn't have any issues. Jun 27, 2019Se encuentra bien ubicado, únicamente hay q tomar taxi o uber en la estación de metro Broadway hasta el lugar. Hay dos habitaciones aparte de esta por lo que tendrán que compartir el baño con los demás cuartos. Lo malo es cuando se bañan porque se tardan, pero el baño siempre estuvo limpio. Tienes opción de preparar algo se comer, ya que cuenta con cocina. Si hace frío es cálida la habitación. Además de qué hay una cobija extra y te ponen toallas para bañarte.

Jun 27, 2019After trying a few places, I came back to Bloz's because his space tended to be the most discreet and comfortable for the price. I commute to Astoria a couple days a week for a modest acting gig and I wouldn't go anywhere else for the price at this point. Bloz's place does the trick--and by the trick, I mean it keeps you warm on a winter night for insanely cheap and it's hardly a 5-minute drive from my workplace.

Jun 27, 2019Where do I even begin....When we first walked in the room we were hit with a strong smell of urine. Not only did the room not look as clean as pictured but it was also scorching hot. The drawer that is in the room is on it’s last life. Everything about it was unattractive. Let’s move onto the bathroom( that is a whole other story). I was traveling all day so I was so excited to shower! Not only was I turned off by the dirty bath mat and the black mold in the creases of the shower , when I went to turn on the water the shower head was spitting water from every direction except the direct I was in. It was horrible, I had a better chance at showering in the sink. Mind you one of the ladies that was also there would be in the bathroom for 60 minutes, taking tea baths leaving the bathroom an even bigger mess. It is so funny to me that there was two women that go and clean the parts of the apartment that no one uses. My last straw was when they started smoking weed in the house when I had my baby there. I contacted the owner and demanded a refund for the remaining days that I didn’t use because there’s no way I could stay in that environment, this jackass responded and told me he would only give me a refund if someone books for those days, meaning he did not want to give me my money back. I had to call Airbnb and wait 4 days to receive my money back!!! There’s no parking so good luck if you have a car. Also hopefully it doesn’t rain when you are there because the balcony will play you beats all night. I couldn’t hardly sleep because of the metal on the balcony. I had to lay a shirt down so that the water wouldn’t hit it directly so I could catch some sleep. This place is just a ghetto hot mess, I agree with other people who have been here, yes it’s nice if you plan for a cheap sleep and go but it’s not the type of place you should bring a date or even relax because the mattress isn’t even comfortable. To be honest I wouldn’t stay here again and never in my entire life would I recommend someone with two senses to do so either. I forgot to mention, I had to put my own sheets on the bed because the ones that were there had dust on them!
Jun 27, 2019The flat rent by Bloz has all necessary equipment needed for a short stay in NY and secure. The room is quite spacious with a nightstand, closet and balcony. The towel are given. The kitchen is quite small but equipped with some spoons, knives, glasses, pans, stoves, four ... There isn't a TV in the living room but when we're all the time outside to visit NYC, you don't need it. The flat is well located, it's really 15 minutes from the nearest metro station (Broadway, line N or W). It's around 20 minutes from Time Square so it's close to Manhattan for a cheaper price. There are Mc Do, Subway and a Market shop at the end of the street, which is quite convenient. But what marks my stay in this flat was the nice Swiss girls I met there, staying in another room. They were like my friend and me, having a one week holiday and wanting to visit NYC. They gave us some advice, it was really nice. I enjoy my stay there. Thank you, Bloz and the people I met there for your kindness.
Jun 27, 2019DO NOT GO HERE. There was no meet and greet with the owner. There was no communication which was very much needed given that there were ants all in the bathroom. (Hidden by Airbnb) tried to enter our room while we slept. The drawers to the nightstand were broken. The wooden floors were sticky. If the ower advertises a balcony, its awful. No view, broken soccer chairs. Unsafe, unwelcome, not clean. DO NOT GO HERE

В ванной пахнет горько-сладким так, что забивает кашель. Хуже, чем я ожидала. Зато увидела что-то ещё, кроме Манхеттена и Центрального парка.
Jun 27, 2019Bloz’s places (a number of rooms in the building) may be basic, as advertised, but it’s very convenient and exceptional value for the location. Too marks for the speed with which Bloz and his cousin solved a couple of minor problems. Not fancy, obviously, but clean and well enough equipped. Comfortable bed, clean sheets and towel (maybe bring more if you’re staying a while). We’ll remember this spot for another Queens visit.

It was difficult to enter because they had given us the wrong codes for the doors, and when we tried to call them, they didn’t answer. The apartment had a strange smell, really strong. The room was ok, just to sleep. The neighborhood is nice, there are restaurants and supermarkets really close.

The room, the common areas, and bathroom were perfectly cleaned and my girlfriend thanks a lot for the hairdryer. Another great aspect of our room was the location, just 10 mins by walk from the subway and next to Broadway of Astoria that we discovered to be a wonderful district! Thank you Bloz we recommend your place!
Jun 27, 2019Very good place to spend a few nights in NY. We took the boat from astoria to wall street, and it is a nice way of moving to the south of Manhattan. The subway is 15min away, and from there is very easy to arrive near central park.
Jun 27, 2019Für einen günstigen Aufenthalt in New York ein guter Platz: gut angebunden und zentral gelegen, sehr ruhige Nachbarschaft. Die Wohnung besteht aus drei Zimmern, die alle vermietet werden, das Badezimmer wird gemeinsam genutzt. Die Einrichtung ist simpel und ohne jeden Charme, mehr als einen Schlafplatz findet man hier nicht. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter, den wir nicht zu Gesicht bekamen, funktioniert zuverlässig. Für New Yorker Verhältnisse gutes Preisleistungsverhältnis. Wer mehr als eine rein zweckmäßige Bleibe sucht, sollte sich aber anderweitig umschauen.
Jun 27, 2019Good location and neighborhood, room was ok as showed in pictures, AC working fine, but some odor at the room. The apartment had other guests at the room 2 and the bathroom wasn’t cleaned at all, very dirty bathtube and no soap or toothpaste. Even the Room 2 had guests, I’d expect the host clean the bathroom because he knew we were coming to stay one night. The host doesn’t greet you in person, you get a message about the code and what to do with your trash, what is fine for me, but he sent different codes for me and for the person who was sharing the room with me. Luckily we did check in together but it could’ve been a trouble for us trying to reach the host late at night. You have access to the living room and small kitchen, what was good enough with AC working (summer time). It’s a good place to stay one or two nights. Good price, good location the only thing that I didn’t like was the bathroom so dirty.

Jun 27, 2019The apartment is very simple, but is clean, tidy, and straightforward. A quick 7 minute walk from the Broadway station, it's no trouble at all to get back and forth from the main island. The other roommates were equally tidy and respectful of the space, which is a bonus. The little outdoor balcony is also great for relaxing and people watching too! Definitely recommend this space to a low maintenance traveler looking for a weekend escape. Thank you for a wonderful weekend Bloz!

Jun 27, 2019I stayed here for 10 days. It was what was in the pictures. The shared bathroom was uncomfortable, especially when I arrived and the shower was clogged from someone’s hair for two days, and the water didn’t drain properly. The bedroom ac also was hardly pushing out any cold hair, especially on 90degree days it was musky in the living space. The value is decent for what you get. It’s a place to rest your head, just to visit various locations in New York City. Also had items stolen from me in the bathroom. So I had to bring everything I needed back into my room and lock the door. It’s what you’d expect from multiple guests sharing a living space.

Jun 27, 2019L'appartement est bien situé, le quartier est tranquille (attention par contre cet été il a des travaux sur les lignes de métro proches ce qui ralentit l'accès aux stations car remplacé par des navettes/bus). Sinon l'appartement est très bien, la climatisation est un peu vieillot dans la chambre mais c'est correct. Les espaces communs n'étaient pas super propre mais cela est la conséquence de vivre a plusieurs dans l'appartement. Sinon super séjour, j'y retournerai sûrement pour l'emplacement qui est vraiment sympathique.

Jun 27, 2019The place was filthy, and smelled dirty. The host was no where in sight. There was garbage on the bathroom floor and the toilet had poop in it. The bathtub looked as thought it hadn't been properly scrubbed in years. There was grime all over the floors and the refrigerator door. The mattress cover had some brown stains on it and the whole place smelled gross. I immediately called airbnb to get a direct refund from them and they gave it to me after providing pictures of the filth in the apartment. If you care about cleanliness at all don't go here. The bathroom felt so gross that my boyfriend refused to use it .
Jun 27, 2019Balcony door didnt lock. host refused to fix it and was very hard to contact. had to leave and stay elsewhere as the door couldnt be locked thus leaving it very unsafe to leave belongings there or sleep. Worst Airbnb we have stayed in.

The biggest downside was the nearest subway station was under construction, so the walk was over 20 minutes instead of like 12 minutes, but as soon as that construction is done that will no longer be a problem. The place was as clean as you would expect it to be with multiple guests staying at the same time. The neighborhood is nice and felt safe walking at night. I would definitely stay here again!

Jun 27, 2019Place is ok if you are looking for a place to just go to sleep .. price is fair, but don’t expect to be super comfortable because you won’t. Terrible pillows and dirty kitchen. Location is safe but far from subways. A very uncomfortable situation happened in the building, more specific in our shared apartment which made me and my mom feel very unsafe and the host just said to “forget about it”
Jun 27, 2019Expect to bring your own pillows and blankets because the ones provided are not sufficient. Also, the residence is not walking distance to the nearest subway station. Be prepared to take an uber or bus to a subway station. Additionally, you will be sharing the bathroom with two other rooms so potentially four or five other people. There were many times where we couldn't get ready because other residents were using it. The walls are thin so you can hear much of what's going on outside of your room especially other guests talking or walking around. The check-in process was easy and flexible. Overall, we did not feel the description and photos were an accurate representation and it wasn't worth what we spent.
