Jun 27, 2019Marian is a great host. Communication is excellent; she responded quickly to all of my messages. The place its self is quiet and away from the city. I was in town for the US Open and so the location made sense. Easy to find. Walking distance to Walmart and a handful of restaurants and corner stores. The bus stop is around the corner. You can take the bus to any train. I would suggest having your own transportation, though. Marian was kind enough to give me a ride when I wasn't able to catch a cab. The place was clean. Marian leaves you to yourself. You can come and go as you please, completely unbothered. Tons of space. Perfect for a solo traveler and/or couple.

Jun 27, 2019My husband and I were in town due to a funeral and Marian's studio was just enough; it was roomy and was accurate description. We had a bit of an issue with the hot water after following directions stated on her page but other than that it was a great decision to stay at Marian's. Also Green Acres Mall is close and there is a CVS close by with other shops within walking distance

Jun 27, 2019Marian’s place was great for a last minute get away. Had no complaints except it smelled like fresh paint and it kind of gave me a headache, but my boyfriend didn’t mind. Everything was clean and it was Perfect for what we needed it for.

Jul 27, 2019This is a very convenient and private spot located in a quiet neighborhood 10 mins from JFK.You definetly get your dollars worth as its spacious the host gives you your full privacy and its located litteraly a 3 min drive away from Green Acres mall .I myself will be back for sure.

Jun 27, 2019I booked for two nights and could barely sleep the first night and left the morning after. There’s an unbearable fuel smell coming from the boiler. We got home at 2am after spending Christmas Eve with family and had a terrible asthma attack from the strong smell and was coughing the entire night. The shower of the apartment is a little scary, to the point I had planned to go shower at my family’s apartment, not to mention hot water wouldn’t come out and the cold water coming out was rusty. Marián definitely needs to figure something out to keep renting this place under good sanitary conditions.

Spacious, accommodating, close to all needed for day to day, quick ride into NYC via LIRR that is walking distance, quick drive to outer boroughs or Long Island, huge backyard to step out into for fresh air, sun, moon and stars, cooking area for those who don't eat out with fridge for storing food, private entrance, peace, quiet and privacy to include private entrance. Parking with no street cleaning rules is +++ Marian truly gives you space yet have no doubt if you need anything, she will accommodate!!! We relocated from out of state hoping to find a home just as in NY yet so hard to find. Thankfully, she allows for long term stays for those of us in transition. We're very happy and highly recommend for short or long term stays!!!
Jun 27, 2019For the price of $50 a night, a lot could not be expected. At first sight, it is not picturesque and very gloomy! Next, there was a very strong smell of gasoline and after searching the place, we found multiple gas cans and trays filled with exposed gasoline in the boiler room. We took it upon ourselves to bring all of it into the backyard and out of the place because Marian had already left to work. We then left the door open for a few hours to air out the place. While this brought some relief, the fumes were still present and we assume it may be because the gasoline was stored in the basement for some time and their is spillage that has to be cleaned very well. We were very concerned about the health hazards of inhaling the fumes and the likelihood of a house fire. Gasoline should never be stored in a house or near a house. This baffled us! Same night, we discovered that the water function is very poor - the pressure is very poor making it difficult to wash my hair and too much time needed to rinse off. It was also very difficult to adjust (and maintain) the water temperate to where needed for showering, brushing your teeth and washing dishes. This created a very frustrating experience. The bathroom includes a very small and shabby stand up Durastall. It makes it very difficult to move around in, the drain clogs, there was concern about what was coming up from the drain while still in the shower and we had to use a towel to prevent flooding due to overflowing water. The lighting in the place was very poor as some of the ceiling fixtures had light bulbs, most didn't and none of the light bulbs were consistent offering different levels of lighting that made it difficult to read or work on the laptops and, they were all eye sores. However, the place was clean and spacious, queen size bed, clean bedding and towels, there was a kitchen table that seats 4, clean fridge, sink is available, toaster, coffee machine, microwave (however it was not cleaned) and an electric skillet that actually worked out well for light cooking. It's an experience like crashing in someone's basement with a few basic needs. For the price of $50 we didn't complain about anything because you get what you pay for however, storing gasoline in a room on the same level of the space being rented is a major issue. We couldn't understand why Marian has not taken this into consideration as I have seen it mentioned in other reviews. It goes without saying that gasoline should not be stored in a home. If that problem can be fixed, I would recommend Marian's space to someone who is not expecting a lot, just the basics and at no more than $50 per night.

Jun 27, 2019Marian's place was exactly what we wanted for our weekend trip home to visit family. The place was very clean and SOOOO quiet! The neighborhood is very nice. Close to the mall and Walmart. We wished there was a coffee pot, but we made do with the instant coffee provided. Thank you for a great stay in NY.

Jun 27, 2019Be in mind it’s a basement studio apartment. Other than that, the pictures accurately describe the place. It is a 35 minute bus ride to the nearest subway. Also, just a heads up that Queens is not close to Manhattan.
Jun 27, 2019We had a great stay here. Space is bigger than it looks in pictures, you get complete privacy and a separate entrance, and Marian is very friendly and welcoming. All listed amenities are provided and it’s a clean, comfortable space that we thoroughly enjoyed staying in.
