Great and safe family neighborhood located near a busy street, so you may occasionally hear traffic. Although if you are in the unit with the A/C on and windows closed, you shouldn't hear a thing.

If you don't have a car which is highly recommended so that you can explore all that the island has to offer. There is public transportation by bus just outside the property that runs directly to Ala Moana Mall. Uber or Lyft are also great options.

Phillip's house was great. He was out of town so his father Joe was there to help us and he could not have been any nicer. The place is clean and quiet. Everything is extremely nice to the point that the pictures don't even do it justice. The bathroom is great, the bedroom is set up well, and the tv is awesome. Also, the ac keeps the apartment nice and cold for when you get back from the beach. We will definitely book here next time we are on Oahu.
Jun 27, 2019We had a wonderful stay at Philips place during our time in Oahu. Self check in was easy, and the place was extremely clean and cozy. It had everything we were looking for. Although we never met Philip, he was always just a text or call away and very accommodating to our needs. His father lives in the house next door and is the nicest man ever! Mahalo to the both of them.
Jun 27, 2019If my husband & I can write a book about our amazing experience at this place we called home for 7 days we definitely could! Philip & Kawena's place is by far our most favorite Airbnb we've ever stayed at! Here are a few reasons why: 1) Philip & Kawena were very quick to respond to any questions we had prior to booking the place. 2) We were celebrating our Babymoon (honeymoon before our 1st child arrives) & the studio had the perfect space we needed. The place is conveniently set up for only 1-2 people! 3) The studio was extremely clean. Linens and towels looked professionally folded. The details were impeccable. 4) The AC was a big plus. Additionally to they provided us a fan which we used when we wanted to open the screen door to get some fresh air in or when we were cooking a meal. 5) The kitchen was complete with everything we needed, including the rice cooker & utensils. 6) The keyless entry - this made it very convenient for us to go in & out without having to look for a physical key. 7) My own personal requests - a day or two before our trip, I asked if we could borrow a cooler and a beach umbrella ... before we arrived there, I got a message from Kawena and everything was set! We were so overwhelmed with gratitude. Along with the backpack beach chairs and beach towels. Our trip would not have been as enjoyable without these accommodations. Plus, when we opened the freezer, a bag of ice was ready for us to take to the beach! 9) The beach was walking distance too! Kailua and Lanikai Beach were only 5 mins away via driving. 10) We had a designated parking spot! 11) The Hawaiian Hospitality - our host's parents (Joe and his wife) were very cordial and greeted us with the biggest Aloha Greeting! Jun 27, 2019My husband and I really enjoyed staying at this airbnb. It was super clean and cute. It contained all the necessities for a perfect Hawaiian vacation. There were very nice beach towels, beach chairs, and umbrella, all in new or excellent condition. The bed was also very comfortable which isn't always expected. The location of the unit was very private although being attached to a single family home. We felt like we had ample privacy. It suited us perfectly and Joe was amazingly welcoming and hospitable!!! We recommend this airbnb highly and if we ever get chance to go to Hawaii again we would definitely stay there again. Amazing price for quality.
Jun 27, 2019The best and most Incredible Airbnb. The Studio apartment was so clean you could eat off the floor lol. It had a great location where you can walk to Safeway grocery story in 4 minutes and the beach in 8-10 minutes. There are buses right in front of the place which is also convenient. In the studio, we were provided with high quality beach chairs and beach towels along with a parasol. The bathroom was very very clean. When we arrived, Joe who takes care of the place who lives next door is one of the kindest and humble humans my mother and I have ever met. The moment we got there he made us feel like family and was there for us whenever we needed. I would go back to Oahu just to stay there!!!

Jun 27, 2019My boyfriend and I spent our first time in hawaii at Philips place and don’t have One single complaint we could possibly make. The place is not huge - but perfect for two, and with the amount of time we spent there it had all we needed! 5 minute walk to the beautiful and quiet Castles beach and a 12 minute drive to world famous Lanikai. Central location to all - we saw the entire Island. Super close to tons of good food (recommend Konos + Teddys Burgers highly) and attractions. Philip was always a text away and his father Joe who lived there was beyond friendly, and also gave us privacy. If you’re low maintenance, love adventure and sight seeing - this is for you!

Jun 27, 2019This place far exceeded our expectations. You can tell the owners thought about what people would want and need while on vacation and made sure it was there. From beach gear to laundry machines, this place was amazing. If we ever come back to Oahu, we will stay there instead of a hotel. It was phenomenal.

Jun 27, 2019This place is just perfect! We stayed here with my husband on our honeymoon for 8 days and we couldn’t have choosen better. The place had everything we wanted and even more. It is on a very good location. We could walk to the shops, restaurants and beach, and also drive around the entite island as the highways are easily accessible. Joe was super kind and super helpful, it was a pleasure meeting him. We would definately come back again and stay here.
Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed staying at Philip's place. It is cozy and clean- and has everything you need - things for the beach, washer/dryer. We had a car, but there was a bus stop right out front. Kailua is a great place to visit, and this was a good home base to explore the southeast part of the island.
Jun 27, 2019We had a wonderful stay at Philip's place! Very clean and cozy. We didn't end up walking to the beach, so I am not sure how close it is. We ended up driving to Kailua Beach which was only a 10 minute drive away. Will definitely stay again!
Jun 27, 2019Wonderful hosts! So nice to meet the whole family, we really felt like we were at home over the holidays. We stayed for two weeks and were very comfortable, terrific location. We rented bikes and rode into town and to Lanikai beach and all over Kailua. The hosts had a cooler, beach chairs, boogie board and beach towels. Perfectly stocked for the beach! Full size fridge was helpful to store our beers from the local breweries. We only made breakfasts at the house and ate dinners out, but there was a BBQ we could have used on our own private patio. I would recommend this home to anyone who loves to spend time in town or at the beach. Best hosts ever! We will totally go back :)

It's easy to access and close to the freeway, as well as all other main attractions in the Kailua region (beach, Lanikai beach, pillbox hike, Whole Foods, Food Land and other groceries, restaurants). The place is small but feels very spacious. The bed is super comfortable. Having a laundry machine and dryer in house was a hug plus for us. The kitchette is well equipped with a good hot plate, electric tea kettle, coffee maker, pans, great knives and plates/bowls/utensils. Very clean place. Owners are wonderful and very welcoming. I wanted to extend my trip here but will have to just come again!
Jun 27, 2019This place for us, was rated off the charts! The look and feel of the apartment was amazing. You get your own little entrance with a bbq, table and chairs! The suite has amazing air conditioning, full fridge, washer and dryer which was so handy for us. Make sure to use the chairs and umbrella that they provide! It makes your beach days that much more enjoyable! They even provide towels! Joe and his wife hiva were absolutely incredible. They’re the most welcoming and friendly people we have ever met! We can’t wait to come back!
Jun 27, 2019A nice & neat place located on a quiet residential area. Safeway is just across the street, and the Kailua beache is only 5 mins (driving) away. Philip's father-in-law, Joe, is a nice old man, had knocked on the door to greet me on the day of my arrival. He told me that he lives in the main house, and let him know if I need anything. They have beach chairs & towels for me to use., but unfortunate I didn't get to use them. I would stay with them again if I ever go back to Oahu.
Jun 27, 2019This place is perfect. It was clean and cozy. It was far enough from the city that so no riff raff but close enough I could travel to it often. Joe, the man living in the main house is absolutely the sweetest man and will make sure you are completely taken care of. Definitely would recommend to everyone. Single or double no more.

Jun 27, 2019Warm, welcoming, calm & relaxing space. The beach supplies are great! Chairs, boogie boards, umbrella & rolling cooler makes it easy to have a great day! (Forgot beach towels? No problem! There’s 2 there!) If using the bus, the stop is literally in front of the house! Or, walk 10 minutes to beach access - one of the most beautiful white sand beaches I’ve ever been to. Overall, one of the most wonderful times I’ve had with the husband - we had the opportunity to reconnect in a way that we wouldn’t have been able to, in a hotel. Lovely hosts - warm & welcoming!

Joe is such a lovely and friendly person. You can also find beach towels, beach chairs and other cool stuff for a nice day on the beach in the apartment.

Jun 27, 2019This place is FANTASTIC! Super clean, great location, comfortable bed, air conditioning, free parking, and great tips for where to go! Philip was very responsive and easy to communicate with. His dad, Joe, was very kind welcoming. I know this place is listed as a “private room” but it really is it’s own separate apartment! You have a separate entrance with your own living space that includes a private bathroom, kitchen, fridge, washer and dryer, tv, etc! We absolutely loved it and when we come back we will 100% book this place again! Thanks Philip!

Jun 27, 2019Great place! My girlfriend and I stayed here for a few nights and it was perfect for the two of us. They had boogie boards and beach chairs and towels for us too. Plus in addition to the microwave there is a small stove top and pans. It was walking distance to the beach and a grocery is super close by. The hosts were super super friendly too! Jun 27, 2019Awesome place in Kailua. Really close to the beaches on the Kailua coast. 10-15 min drive to Lanikai and to the shops. The place is very comfy and clean with A/C (awesome for hot days). Big T.V. with cable and comfy bed. Big fridge too store frozen and perishable foods. You can wake up and walk to the beach for sunrises and if you need any advice Philip can answer any questions. Philip's dad Joe is the best, very personable and friendly and will help if you have any questions. Would definitely recommend friends, family, and anyone to stay again!

We loved the fact that there were all of the basic necessities like shampoo, hair dryer, washer/dryer, soap...even had chairs for beach and body boards. You have everything you need: fridge, washer, dryer, coffee maker, coffee, toaster, etc. The family is so sweet. If you're using public transportation, the bus stop is right outside the drive way. The place was quiet. I had a lovely stay. I would absolutely come back here and would recommend this place to anyone traveling here.

Jun 27, 2019I have lived in the area for several year and caneback to the island to visit. Let me tell you, the value for this Airbnb is amazing. A/C is a rarity in the island. Joe was amazingly sweet and gave us the warmest welcome and send off. The place has everything you could need, they really thought of everything. Beach chairs, umbrella, beach towel, cooler.. the list goes on. They even included a discount card to the grocery store across the street.

The bus stop is right outside the home if you don’t have a car. Philip’s father was very kind and helpful. I would highly recommend this home for any guests.
Jun 27, 2019I had a very pleasant experience at Philip’s home. Cute studio, perfect for a few day stay, while only 1-2 miles from tons of eateries. Philip was away, but his father Joe was around, and he is very friendly and helpful with any questions I had. Parking in the driveway. I enjoyed the amenities the apartment comes with such as a beach chair and umbrella with a bodyboard, cooler, fridge and freezer, washer and dryer, strong quiet AC unit. Can’t go wrong while vacationing in the Kailua area. The Lanikai pillbox hike and beach is beautiful. I recommend over easy for breakfast, Nalu for lunch, buzz’s is another option and Uahi grill for dinner.

I would highly recommend this place. I have stayed in many Airbnbs and this place was super-clean,well equiped and check-in/out was super easy. If we go back to Oahu, I would definitely choose it again!
Jun 27, 2019Wir waren rundum zufrieden mit der Unterkunft. Wir haben unseren Gastgeber zwar nicht getroffen, aber seinen Vater, der super nett war und wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt. Das Studio ist schön eingerichtet, sehr sauber und verfügt über alles was man so benötigt inklusive Strandstühle etc. Es ist zwar an der Straße gelegen, aber nicht laut. Den Kailua Beach erreicht man mit dem Auto in 5-10 Minuten und den Lanikai Beach in 10-15, daher war die Lage für uns optimal. Parkplatz für das Auto war ebenfalls vorhanden. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

The location was perfect, a short walk to the beaches and less than a 5-minute drive from some great restaurants. The apartment was very nice, comfortable, clean, and letting us use beach towels and boogie boards was nice touch. I would highly recommend the apartment for anyone who's looking to spend time in that part of O'ahu.
Jun 27, 2019This is a very cozy, clean and charming place to stay. It was very clean and had everything we needed! The bed is super comfortable and the A/C makes it a great place to get a good night's sleep after a day of exploring. The house was easy to find and was in a great location to get out and see the rest of the island. There is a grocery store across the street and they even leave a discount card for you to use there. Joe was super friendly and understanding when our plane was delayed and even met us out front when we arrived with a warm welcome! We would definitely stay here again. Kailua is a cute town with great beaches and places to eat.
Jun 27, 2019Philip and Kawena's unit is absolutely perfect! It has all you need in a very smart, well thought out, compact space. The A/C is amazing for the hot Hawaiian humidity, the bed is super comfortable, TV is great and kitchenette is just right. Joe who took care of us is the definition of a super host, very attentive and is a great source of knowledge about the area and island. The beach and supermarket are a 5min walk and a short drive to shopping malls and the airport. Would definitely stay in the unit again and highly recommend to others you will not be disappointed.

I was amazed that we also had a private yard and bbq! Inside could not have been done any better! Every bit of space had a purpose. The decor was great, the bed comfy and had laundry! Loved the flooring. We left a floatie and some snorkel gear for the next guest. I hope they enjoy your place as much as we did. Thanks again!
Jun 27, 2019Amazing place to stay! It was in the middle of everything and so easy to get to a freeway. Very close access to a beautiful beach that was not crowded. There were boogie boards, beach towels, beach chairs and a cooler to use which we did! Washer and dryer in the room was great to have as well. Stay here and you won't be disappointed!

Beach towels, chairs, umbrella, and boogie boards are a great touch to have available. The hosts communicate quickly and are pleasant. We had a lovely vacation and would rent here again.

Location was ideal as it was very close to the beach, restaurants, grocery stores etc. Will definitely stay here again during our next visit.

Beach paraphernalia such as chairs, umbrella, cooler, beach towels etc were very much appreciated! Bathroom had good amount of space and was very clean as well. Hosts responded very quickly. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and hope to stay here again on our next Oahu visit!
Jun 27, 2019Future travelers can expect to enjoy a very clean space with a little private yard. The space felt very comfortable and you can enjoy easy access to the beach. Philip's father lives next door and is incredibly kind if you happen to cross paths with him. We really enjoyed being close to the Down to Earth local grocery store. It's my favorite grocery store ever. I wish we had one on the mainland.

His father lives next door and was very accommodating to us, especially during the hurricane warning. The tv was also larger than expected and it was nice at night! Would definitely recommend.

The aparment is located close to everything, beach, shops, resturants, you name it. The bed was confy and big. Everything was clean and tidy. Joe living in the main house was so sweet, always making sure we had the best time thank you so so much, we will be back!

The studio was larger than expected and came equipped nicely with amenities, cable TV , and kitchenette. Only stayed 1 night in Kailua but Philips place is a great value and I highly recommend !

Jun 27, 2019This place is simply perfect! We stayed for 7 nights and had everything we Need there. Joe and Hiva are Great! The Place is very close to Kailua und beautiful Lanikai Beach. Kailua Town is Great , with a lot of Restaurants and supermarkets. We totally recomment this place, there is nothing to do better!

Jun 27, 2019Clean bright studio! Located on a bigger road- but there is barely any traffic. So many lovely beaches and great places to eat. We explored the island but loved coming back to our cozy Airbnb to restore for the next day.
Jun 27, 2019I only stayed for a day but I can tell you guys that Philip's place meets all your needs. Not only was it super clean and comfortable, all the amenities they listed were there. 10/10 would definitely stay here again for longer period of time and hit up the beaches nearby.

Jun 27, 2019This was such a great place to stay. It has everything you need for a visit in Hawaii: full bathroom, washer & dryer, boogie boards, beach towels, beach chair and a beach umbrella. There was also utensils, bowls, plates, fridge/freezer, microwave hot plate, pots/pans and rice cooker in the kitchen. There was no stove, but I ate out for all my meals. There is also an air conditioner, and a standing floor fan as well. I need a fan to sleep at night, so this was a huge plus for me. It was a 5-10 minute drive from Whole Foods, gas stations, and the center of all the action in Kailua. Even Driving to Honolulu was very convenient, IMO. Check out the health food store “Down To Earth”. They have a few in different locations on the island. I ate there almost every day. They are a vegetarian/vegan organic health food store with an excellent hot bar and salad bar. It only took about 5-7 minutes from the apartment to get there. Gonna miss that store so much! The views everywhere you go are just incredible. I was glad to have this little retreat to come home to and recharge every night. I’m from a small town in South Carolina, so I prefer visiting big cities rather than living/staying in them. It was nice to escape the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and retreat to the apartment in the small town of Kailua. There is a dedicated parking space for the apartment in the driveway, so if you rent a car, you will always have a place to park. Philip’s dad, Joe, met me outside as I pulled in on the first night. He was very friendly and welcoming. They felt like family, and I was sad to tell them goodbye. It was a short drive from Kailua Beach Park, and about 15 minutes to Lanikai beach. Kailua Beach Park was my favorite beach. be sure to check (Hidden by Airbnb) map reviews for the different beaches all over the island. The house was on a main road, but I never heard traffic when I was there unless someone had super loud music or it was motorcycles zooming by at full throttle. It was cozy and felt very safe. This was the perfect place for my first visit to Hawaii. It was super clean and organized. I’m glad I found it - I will recommend it to anybody I know that’s considering visiting Oahu. I would come back for sure. Cleanliness, comfort, location and price are what make this apartment worth booking. Mahalo, Philip for such a great place to stay. Aloha!

Jun 27, 2019Philip’s place was the perfect place to stay in Kailua. The location was great and his in laws were so sweet and helpful. We also love that they have beach chairs, towels, umbrella, and even a cooler available. It made our beach trips so much easier. Highly recommend this place as it was so hard for us to leave.
Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed from start to finish on this fine place. Parking in front of the door. The full package. We were there during thanksgiving and we were served a delicious meal and a super tasty dessert mmm from father Joe! We also appreciated the privacy we received. The location was superb, near the most beautiful beaches of Oahu ... A car is advisable, but not a must stop there a bus at the door and the sea is very close as well as the supermarket is within walking distance, as well as restaurants .

Jun 27, 2019We had a wonderful stay during the holidays at Philip's place in Kailua. So glad that we did not stay in Waikiki as the location was perfect for exploring all parts of the island (we had a rental car that made this possible). The studio was just the right size for the two of us- complete with everything but a full kitchen (which we didn't even need). Nice to have a fridge and microwave and basic utensils to heat up leftovers and make breakfast. Loved that we had beach towels, chairs and umbrella to take with us on outings and that there was a washer and dryer we could use. Philip's father in law, Joe was super friendly and made us feel very welcome in our air bnb. Yes, as other reviewers have said the house is located on a major street but we had our own parking spot on the driveway and we could not hear much noise at night time and slept well. The price is unbeatable! We would definitely recommend this place to any of our couple friends who are looking for a home away from home for a few days. Mahalo to Philip and his family for a lovely vacation!
Jun 27, 2019I wanted to stay someplace outside of Honolulu and Waikiki but still close to the beach and I’m glad I found this place in Kailua. The place looks just as pictured and is very comfy and quaint enough for a solo traveler or low maintenance couple. The place was clean, fresh linen, has a washer and dryer and refrigerator. There was a Safeway grocery store and Burger King across the street, beach is a 10 mins walk. My only regret is that I didn’t rent a car (my first time there so I underestimated how big the island was) so I caught the bus into Honolulu and rode Uber back at night (the bus stops running at 9ish in that area). Great if you want to stay in a quiet neighborhood-sy area but definitely rent a car so you can easily get to other parts of the island. I would definitely stay here again.
Jun 27, 2019Philip's place is a nice place for your vacation on Oahu. My wife and I enjoyed our time very much. We only met Joe, the father of the host, but he took good care of us. The place is very clean and exactly as pictured. I loved staying in Kailua away from the traffic and the crowds of Waikiki. Kailua Beach Park is a 5 minute drive from the apartment and offers a really nice beach with facilities and lifeguards. If you want to go to Haunama Bay it's just a 30 minute drive and to the airport it takes 25 minutes. I can recommend this place and I will come back on my next stay.
Jun 27, 2019If you are minimalist this is the perfect place for you. Has just what you need, a great bed and affordable. Close to grocery shopping with full fridge for easy breakfasts. Used the beach chairs, umbrella, beach towels and boogie boards a great touch. Kailua beach very beautiful, close and uncrowded.

Jun 27, 2019Me and my fiancée stayed in Philip’s and Kawena’s Mokapu oasis for two nights and three days and their studio was amazing! Perfect for a couple who are looking for a nice cheaper alternative than a hotel. The pictures provided are exactly how the home looks. The place had everything to towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Also we were able to use their beach equipment, (beach chairs, umbrella and boogie board) which was awesome! We were also able to wash our clothes with the washer and dryer that is located in the unit! Which was awesome! We were provided with one parking space which was great and the place is located near many stores and shopping center which made buying things so easy. Thank you for a great stay!!!

Jun 27, 2019It was great. Room was very clean and as big I needed it to be. Beach is a 10 min walk down the street. The street is a little noisy but they thought ahead and have a fan there. Less than a block there are several places to eat. I was very happy with this place
