Pyrmont is mostly known by outsiders as that one suburb in Sydney with a casino in it. That’s a bit of an unfortunate reputation because the folk that live around here know just how charming and spectacular the booming area can be. By the water there’s newly developed park land that shows off the Sydney’s incredible sandstone cliffs and high-end dining establishments that feed the city’s power offices (both (Hidden by Airbnb) and Fairfax are in the wharfs). Further inland there’s hip cafes like Clementine’s and Miam and a surprisingly multicultural food scene - try Kopitiam for Malaysian, Vic’s Meats for American barbecue, and Willis Canteen for Indonesian. Then there’s the big draws, the Fish Markets and the Casino itself – not for gambling though, simply because it contains some of best restaurants in Sydney.
