Transit
Good public transport. Bus stop to central station and city 50m from door. Central station 15 min walk. 2 supermarkets within 10mins walk. 20mins walk to Hyde Park in CBD. There are quite a lot of Go Get and Hertz 24/7 cars for hire by the on the hour parked in surrounding streets.
Access
The apartment is self contained with internal laundry. Access via Fanny Place. or up stairs to the front door. Fanny Place is very well lit at night and is safe. There is a street map in photos showing directions to 5/65A via Bennett place and Fanny Place from Bourke Street. Please check photos so you are familiar with Fanny Place. There is a key safe for No 5 at the back gate. Code is supplied before arrival.

Jun 27, 2019This location in Surry Hills is very convenient to the SCG and Sydney CBD. The apartment is stylish, clean and quiet, and host Don is very helpful with anything you need to know. Also for us, we loved the inner city feel, its vibe, and the funky cafes in the surrounding streets. Dons place has plenty to offer if you love walking around in an interesting neighborhood.
Jun 27, 2019This is a brilliant place to stay if you want to be in the middle of Surry Hills and yet cocooned at the end of a little laneway. There are so many great cafes, restaurants, shops and yoga classes within walking distance, but if you need a car there are at least 10 GoGet cars within minutes walking distance. The space is lovely and clean and Don has lived there for a long time so can give great advice on local things to check out. Great for a couple or one person. I'll definitely be back!
Jun 27, 2019Don’s place exceeded all our expectations. The location was is the heart of Surrey Hills. The apartment was the spacious and had a beautiful patio. Not too mention very clean and new. Don’s hospitality was fantastic and I couldn’t ask for more. He made us feel at home!
Jun 27, 2019If you are wanting to experience living in arguably Sydney’s best neighborhood, look no further than one of Don’s perfectly appointed apartments in Surrey Hills. Located in a terrace house playfully and surprisingly accurately named after Barbary Lane, the multistory (and multi-storied) complex in Armistead Maupin’s Tales Of The City, you can easily blend into the vibrant local scene. Shops, restaurants, and nightlife are all within the surrounding blocks; while the major attractions like the opera house and Harbour Bridge are either a short ride or slightly longer walk away. Both apartments feature outdoor space; well-equipped kitchens and bathrooms; washer/dryer; air conditioning; and designated living, dining & sleeping areas. Everything was spotless; the mattress was comfortable; and the towels were soft and fluffy. Don was the perfect host — excellent communication, there whenever you needed him and yet invisible if want/need privacy. He even offered to take me and my rather cumbersome bike box to the airport. On a national holiday, no less! I would happily stay here again during future trips to Sydney.
Jun 27, 2019I stayed in Don's apartment for a week. It's a large studio, nice and private, and very comfortable. It's a short walk to all that Surrey Hills has to offer. (And that's a lot!) I'd definitely stay here again.

Jun 27, 2019Don's flat is spacious and cozy and it has everything you need to enjoy a great stay, including a nice little garden and a fully equipped kitchen. The flat is very quite but it's just around the corner from so many superb cafes and restaurants. The area, Surry Hills, is in my opinion the most vibrant and interesting in Sydney and Don's place is right in its heart. Don is a fantastic host and a very nice person: communication was great from the moment I booked to when I checked out and during my 9-day stay he constantly made sure I was enjoying my staying. And I certainly did: I hope I'll have the chance to travel again to Sydney and stay at Don's flat once more
Jun 27, 2019Don's place is a beautiful, clean apartment with a secluded courtyard, a beautiful respite from exploring Sydney streets. There is lots to see and do within walking distance. Don was extremely responsive to messages and even met us at the corner of the lane to make sure we didn't get lost finding the place. Our flight wasn't till the evening and even though we had to check out earlier in the day he stored our bags for us till we needed them. Overall this apartment was everything we needed including incredibly fluffy towels and the most comfortable pillows! We wish we had booked another night!!
Jun 27, 2019I can honestly say that Don is one of the best (and nicest) hosts in my experience. Besides having a place that is super clean and has a comfortable bed/furnishings, he has thought of everything that you might need/want for your visit. The kitchen has everything you need to cook if you don't want to eat out every night, he provided granola/milk/cookies, a card with 2 coffees from a local coffee shop, power converters, a hair dryer, and a line and clothes pins to dry your clothes outside if you like (he has a washer and dryer). He responded immediately when I had questions about anything. Oh, and the place is super quite. I never heard any street noise (even though Surry Hills is a happening place). There are a ton of good places to eat nearby that aren't super expensive compared to other parts of Sydney. You will love it at Don's place!
Jun 27, 2019Great little studio in an awesome neighborhood. Lots of cafes, bars, shops nearby and easy access to many busses or a 10 minute walk to Central train station. We also appreciated that there were dishes, cooking supplies, and a few basics in the kitchen to make the stay even more comfortable. Don was quick to respond to all messages and very welcoming.

We use Airbnb frequently and this was one on top of the list. Many thoughtful touches. For a traveling couple having washer, dryer, equipped kitchen make for a great stay. Thank you Don!

The central location was perfect for our trip, walkable to a bunch of restaurants and gelato. The unit was awesome, with everything we needed. It was also void of any outside noises, so we got a great night’s rest. Great place. Great stay.

The apartment is beautifully clean and well equipped with lots of extras that you would not expect. Everything from first booking to check in has been seamless and Don's response rate is first class. Jun 27, 2019An excellent stay in Surry Hills. The location was perfect, close (and far enough away) from the train station, and buses. The studio unit was equipped with all the necessities for a great stay. Don was a superb host - nice to be met on arrival, and he gave some great local food and coffee suggestions.
Jun 27, 2019I've been staying in airbnb rentals for more than six years and I can say without hesitation that Don's place in Surry Hills was my best Airbnb experience to date. Don's hospitality was first rate - he responding quickly to my inquires, greeting me upon my arrival, and made sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable experience. The rental itself was sparkling clean and comfortable. I was amazed at how quiet it was, being in the middle of a large city. The location is wonderful - just a short walk from Central station with a bus stop less than a block away. In addition, there are lots of fine restaurants in close proximity. My two favorites for breakfast were Cafe Con Leche just across Fitzroy Street and Suzie Q, a short walk away on Hutchinson. I had a wonderful 7 night stay at Don's place in Surry Hills and I highly recommend. A great value!

It had everything you could need - and all the appliances and furniture etc were quality and seemed brand new. Very clean. The only negative for us was the mattress on the bed was very firm - we prefer a softer one. But won’t stop us staying again :)

Jun 27, 2019Unfortunately my stay with Don was cut short as he changed his mind about allowing my dog to stay with me, but other than this the apartment is perfect in every way. It’s a great area and well equipped, and I’d definitely recommend it especially for shorter stays. While I was disappointed in my stay - I understand it was a very particular situation that will probably not apply to future guests as I imagine Don will now implement a strict no-pets policy.

Best part was that Don was an absolute lifesaver - my flight was cancelled and I needed somewhere to stay but booked late at night on a Friday - Don gave up his evening to come and meet me personally and make sure I was settled in. Highly recommend anyone visiting Sydney!

We are certain that we could not have stayed anywhere else within our budget that would have been a better experience. Don is a top bloke an absolute gentlemen his kindness will never be forgotten. Jun 27, 2019Wonderful flat in Surry Hills! The place was exactly as listed and a perfect location. Great updated furniture and appliances- a towel warmer was an added bonus! Don communicated well and it was great to have him accessible in the flat above.. we blew a fuse and he was down to help out in moments. He was also kind to leave a card prepaid for two coffees at the cafe across the street. Would 100% stay here again!!

Jun 27, 2019This a great studio in an excellent location. There is a washer and dryer that's very convenient for travel, and all the basics in the kitchen for cooking. I'd say it's easily big enough for 1-2 people. My fiance and I stayed here for a week together and loved it. We really fell in love with the neighborhood while we were there. Surry Hills is such a cute neighborhood with a bunch of delicious restaurants nearby. This apartment is very close to a couple of great bakeries and a gelato shop that we frequented often. There are also multiple grocery stores of varying sizes within walking distance (5-10 minutes). It's right next to a park that's great to relax at. There are a couple of bus stops that are a 2-5 minute walk away, and Central station (train and bus stop) is only a 10 minute walk away. We didn't have a car and only used the buses to get around, and it worked out really well. It is only about a 15 minute bus ride to the downtown Sydney area with the Opera House, and a very scenic (over the bridge) 45 minute bus ride to the zoo. We really enjoyed our trip to Sydney, and would recommend this apartment to others if they plan to visit.
Jun 27, 2019Dons place is wonderful absolutely loved it... it’s very stylish ideal for a couple.. it was also very clean and Don had left some lovely touches as it was stocked up with tea,coffee sugar even a bottle of milk which was definitely appreciated as we only arrived late at night. The apartment is ideally situated very close to bars and restaurants and also the train station... I would definitely recommend and I would love to stay here again... it was nice to know that Don was there and you know that you could call on him whatever the time day or night

Amazing space that is clean, modern, and nestled in the best neighborhood. The space boast all the comforts you should expect on vacation and many more.
