1 block away is the a, b, c, 2 blocks away is the 1 train. There is a bike rental (only $7 an hour any day of the week), citibike rentals ($12 a day) a block away and around the corner is the crosstown bus to take you to the East side and of course, there are taxis everywhere! JFK & LaGuardia airports are 30-40 minutes away by train or car.

Coordinating an approximate arrival time by messaging me when you're on the way with at least 1 hour notice. My job takes me all over the city, & I need 1-2 hours to leave & meet you with a key or arrange a key pick up location with you if I am not there. Required for booking: please provide a brief purpose of trip explanation & have several past airbnb reviews as that is a requirement. Female guests can only be accommodated at this time due to construction & layout of apt as both bedrooms although divided by sitting room are sectioned off with ceiling to floor curtains rather then doors that allow for more light & air (see photos attached). Pets, visitors, drinking & smoking are never allowed. Please have a clear profile photo with your face so I can recognize & identify and at least 4-5 verifications along with several past airbnb reviews as this is required at all times prior to booking.

Philomena is a great host, caring and a cool person to talk to. I had an amazing time. The Upper West Side is definitely one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in NYC and the apartment is close to Central Park. The apartment itself is clean and cozy. The bar next-door might get bit noisy on some evenings, but with earplugs I had a very good sleep.

Jun 27, 2019Phil was very flexible and welcoming despite my late arrival, and made me feel like I was coming back to an old friend (I've never met her before). She went above and beyond to provide everything I could possibly expect out of a stay, and was up front about anything that might otherwise had been a surprise. The room is little more than floor-to-ceiling curtains fully surrounding a bed and some space for a suitcase - but that's all I needed, and what she set me up to expect. At night there was quite a bit of noise from a band playing in the building and from street through the open window, but I am not sensitive to that, so it did not bother me or prevent me from getting sleep. It is just something to be aware of. Overall, this experience was a fantastic value for the location and the service and flexibility provided by the hostess. Will seriously consider coming back here on my next visit to the city! I left Phil's apartment not only feeling like I had visited a friend, but actually having one for real.
Jun 27, 2019Philomena was an excellent host! We traveled by Greyhound, and she was able to tell us how to get to her place with ease (as Manhattan can be a difficult place). Philomena was a great communicator and was able to accommodate our business schedules. Her recommendation on places to eat around the neighborhood as well as in the "city" was top-notch. The bed was nice, and the "room" had plenty of space to hang up my suits and clothes. It can be a little noisy with the outside windows up at night; however, the noise was less than nothing when the windows were down. The building is a little old so it may feel a little stuffy at times, but this was easy corrected with a passive, noise cancellation fan by the bed that she provided. I would recommend Philomena's place for anyone who wants easy access to the subway, a block away from Central Park, and likes to be in an area recognized as Manhattan's most prosperous neighborhoods.
Jun 27, 2019Phil tries to accommodate the guest as best as she can. She's also a very interesting person to talk to. My stay was pleasant. The bed and the space were very nice. The neighborhood is safe and has a lot to offer. Would definitely recommend this space to anyone who's looking for a relatively cheap place in a good neighborhood in the city.
Jun 27, 2019Philomena's place is in a perfect location. It was easy to get to multiple subway lines, including uptown and downtown, Central Park and Museum Mile. Her apartment was clean, comfortable and in a great neighborhood. She provided food for breakfast and bathroom amenities. I really enjoyed my time at her place and getting to know her for a couple of days. Made for an enjoyable NYC experience :)

Jun 27, 2019I'm very glad I stayed at Mena's place. First, Mena herself is lovely! She has a very easy, friendly manner, and it was great to chat with her each day. She keeps her apartment beautifully, and everything was very comfortable. She also loves oatmeal, as do I, so I had a great breakfast each day before heading off to my conference. I was working at the American Museum of Natural History, and it could not have been an easier place to stay - I just walked a few blocks there and back. The neighborhood is very safe, with plenty of restaurants and other amenities - and the park is right there! Mena also has thought through how to make the stay comfortable, and to work through any contingencies to be sure I had everything I needed. If I need to come another time to NYC, I'd certainly check to see if she has space and stay here again!
Jun 27, 2019Mena's apartment was exactly as pictured and in an excellent location -easy access to both the subway and central park and I felt very comfortable and safe in her neighborhood. The room is less a private room than a nook in a studio apartment, but she has set it up nicely with a curtain so there is certainly an added degree of privacy. Mena was very friendly and helpful. For a weekend in nyc, i'm not sure you could do any better for the price!

Jun 27, 2019The apartment was in a very good location. Very close to Central Park and the subway. It was perfect to have this as a base for traveling around Manhattan. Mena was also an excellent host. She sorted me out with what I needed and was happy to answer all my questions. Very outgoing and kind. Highly recommend this place for a trip to NYC!
Jun 27, 2019This was my first time using Airbnb and I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience. Mena's place is in a great location close to everything. The space is a little bigger in person than it looks in the photo on the site, and it's clean and neat. It felt cozy and private when the curtains were drawn and the bed was so comfortable. Mena provided thoughtful touches such as toiletries, an iron and ironing board, and a sound machine to help mask the street sounds at night. I didn't need it; I was so exhausted each day that I fell asleep quite easily, but if you are very sensitive to noises it is there and available for your use. You can hear music from a bar and the radiators hiss when they kick in, but again, it didn't bother me at all - but if you are a person who needs silence to sleep then you will need the sound machine or ear plugs (and you aren't going to get 100% silence anywhere in NYC, even if you stay in a hotel!) Mena was a great host. She was very welcoming and I had a lot of fun talking and going out walking with her. I felt quite safe in the area. Mena's space is perfect if you are going to be out and about most of the day and want a good "home base" location. I hope to return.

Jun 27, 2019Mena was an incredible host for my first Airbnb experience. Quick to respond, she answered all my questions and has fantastic knowledge of the city and the UWS. Her home was exactly as described and has a wonderful warm vibe to it. I normally don't sleep well in new places but had the best sleep of my life. Bed was comfy and warm. From this point forward, anytime I come into Manhattan, I plan to stay here. The location is fantastic! Close to Central Park, close to museums, great restaurants nearby, transportation is easy from her place (not hard to catch a cab or take the subway). Love, love love it and wish I would of had more time but I will be back. Thanks Airbnb and Mena for such a memorable and incredible experience.
Jun 27, 2019Mena is an excellent and really amazing host. She has a wonderful spirit and it was not just nice to stay with her but also to meet her and being able to have some awesome conversations! It was so great to arrive at her place at the Upper West Side, which is the perfect place to stay when you are visiting New York City! Mena gave me some nice tips and was very generous with her place. She has a lovely apartment and everything is just as in the pictures shown if not even better!!! The location of her place is also wonderful, as you can walk there easily to Central Park and all major Metro lines are within minutes away. The room was clean and cosy and provided all I needed for my stay. The location itself was good, safe and waking distance to the subway. Jun 27, 2019Staying at Mena's worked out perfectly for our last minute trip. She was super accommodating in getting us the keys when it worked for us and making sure we had towels and everything we needed. Her apartment was really easy to get to on the Subway and in a great spot on the UWS, really close to Central Park. The bed and blankets were super comfy and warm, really nice to come back to late each night, and the shower was awesome too - both critical when staying out of town! We enjoyed chatting with her on our last day as well.

Jun 27, 2019Mena's apartment enjoys one of the best locations in Manhattan. It's right next to center park, walking distance to museums and close to subway station, where I could easily go to middle town. Actually I walked back and forth to east side through the park and it was really a good experience. Besides that, It is also a very safe neighborhood. I came back in midnight and didn't worry about safety. Eating around is convenient too. There is a grocery store and a few highly rated (Yelp) restaurants right in the corner. I stayed with Mena for four nights and she is a great hostess. Apartment is clean and tidy. Mena is very detail oriented and provided every little this and that to make my stay comfortable. She even turned on the air conditioner for me so I came back with a cooler space in a hot/humid summer night. One more thing to mention is that when I came in the city I was more than one hour late than the time I informed her. But she's very patiently waiting for me and helped me check-in before she left for her own errands. In all, it is a very nice stay and I enjoyed my stay with Mena. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who'd like to stay in the city.

I could run to Central Park in 5 minutes, my favorite cafe in 3, and the subway station was just around the corner. She was an excellent hostess, very helpful and hospitable! Jun 27, 2019Mena was a fantastic host! Communication was quick, easy, and efficient (before, during, and after). Getting keys and returning keys was a very simple and easy process. Mena was great to chat with when we were both around. She's very friendly and will give advice on where to visit, what to do, how to get around. I felt very welcomed in her home and very comfortable. The space was exactly as shown. It was very clean, the bed is very comfy, and fresh towels were always supplied! The curtains around the bed give privacy when you want it. As I was there in the summer, it was really warm outside. Mena kept the air on when needed and there's a nice fan beside to bed. Outside can sometimes get a little noisy at night (as it will just about anywhere you stay in NY!), but with the fan next to me or earphones/plugs in, the noise is gone. The location is perfect and it's easy to get to anywhere you need to be. Central Park is a block away and is perfect to go for a run or cut across to go to the Metropolitan museum. Other Museums, operas, or shows are a short walk or bus ride away. The subway and bus stations are within a block or two. There are a ton of stores and restaurants right outside the doorstep. This was my first Airbnb experience and Mena was the perfect host for this. I highly recommend staying here to anyone, and if I'm ever in the area I will be sure to stay here again! Jun 27, 2019This was my very first Airbnb experience. Mena was a wonderful and thoughtful host. It was a pleasure talking to her in the evenings after a whole day of NY sightseeing. Check in and out was super easy. She always checked on me to make sure I had everything I needed. The apartment looked exactly like in the photos. I traveled solo and I felt very safe walking alone in this neighborhood. It is right next to the NY Central Park. The description of the place is very accurate. The internet was fast, the bed was fresh and comfortable, the shared bathroom was always available for my use. Although I did not cook, the kitchen was also available in case I wanted to prepare a meal. Thank you, Mena, for your hospitality!

Jun 27, 2019Mena was a lovely hostess - very accommodating with my arrival & departure schedule, which I really appreciated. Although this apartment is really one large room, she has creatively curtained off a sleeping area and a sitting area with sofa bed, for some privacy for one or more guests, as well as her own personal space. It was acceptable for me since I ended up coming alone, however I believe listings should make clear whether apartments contain separate enclosed bedrooms or just have some type of dividers, i.e., semi-private. There were some thoughtful touches (notions, lamps, fan, plus the clean linens) in the sleeping area, and oatmeal & coffee were prepared the first morning, and available for the second. The bathroom is very small but everything worked. I was just disappointed that it hadn't been cleaned. The location of this apartment a block from Central Park and walking distance to Riverside Park and the Hudson jogging/biking paths, plus shopping, cafes/restaurants, public transportation (directions were precise), and museums on the UWS can hardly be better! Mena indicated she can also give bike tours of the area. I had other plans, but as Mena is an articulate, vivacious, and energetic young woman, being guided by her would certainly be a plus for anyone wanting to take advantage of that offer!

Jun 27, 2019Die Unterkunft ist wirklich klasse, kann ich jedem nur weiterempfehlen! Mena ist ein wirklich ein toller Mensch, sympathisch, nett und sehr hilfsbereit. Die Lage der Wohnung ist echt super in der UWS, vor allem wenn man den Central Park besuchen will. Subway und Busse fahren gleich um die Ecke, sodass man problemlos überall hinkommt. Kleine Supermärkte, Cafés, Restaurants, Dehlis etc. sind auch gleich nebenan. Die Wohnung ist schön, das Bett sehr bequem! Und der Kaffee morgens ist echter Kaffee, wie wir Deutsche ihn lieben :) Ich kann die Unterkunft nur weiter empfehlen und wenn ich wieder mal in New York bin bestimmt wieder bei Mena anfragen.

Jun 27, 2019Mena's place is excellently located in the Upper West Side, just a block from Central Park and close to numerous subway lines. She had everything prepared and communication was very easy. One note that the bed is curtained off from the rest of the apartment but isn't a separate room per se. There is plenty of privacy and the experience was great.

Jun 27, 2019The apt is perfectly located, close to 2 subway stations, Central Park and lots of restaurants and cafes. It is exactly as described. Outside it can sometimes get a little noisy at night as there is a pub with occasionally live music. Mena is a great hostess, check in and out was super easy. The first couple of days our schedules didn't match up but she always checked on me if I had everything I needed. And as we finally met she prepared a very yummy breakfast.
Jun 27, 2019Men's home was tidy and clean and I was very comfortable staying there. Our hours were very different as she left early inn the morning and I would wake later in the morning. She was home later in the evening because of work - but often I was out and home just before she was. I was comfortable as I came and went as I pleased and was very independent. Arrival was arranged for me to pick up the key. Her apartment was very handy for walking to the subway and also to many great little restaurants close by.

The neighborhood is ideal for running in Central Park, experiencing a variety of restaurants, and located close to two separate train stations with easy access to all parts of Manhattan. Jun 27, 2019This was my second stay with Mena and it was just as delightful as the first visit! She is always so hospitable and helpful, and the cozy guest quarters have everything you need from extra storage, hangers, and the the little amenities I love at hotels like mini shampoos or a hairdryer and an iron, just incase you forgot yours! ;) The location is perfect - close to Central Park and subway stations. There's a deli just downstairs that has all groceries you could need for a visit. Coffee shops and cafes are all around in the charming Upper West Side! Her apartment feels like my home away from home when I'm in NYC now. Thanks for everything Mena! Hope to see you again soon!
Jun 27, 2019The description does not match the reality !!! This is a shared room and NOT a single room. It was a studio apartment divided by a curtain, with the bed in the middle of a transition zone, with no privacy! Cleanliness was precarious.

Besides it was cozy and comfortable, we felt like being home from the very First day on, Mena was a great host. Jun 27, 2019Mena was prompt to respond and the place was as described and shown in the pics. The neighborhood is very safe, and her apt. close to restaurants, supermarkets, and UWS action. A little noisy if you need lots of quiet to sleep. She was really kind and worrying about nearby bar/club noise disturbance, made me accept a return for the night of the loud music. I found the location very convenient for transportation.
Jun 27, 2019Mena's apartment is lovely in a wonderful neighborhood steps from Central Park. You will want for nothing as there are hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars all within walking distance. There is even a full grocery store directly across the street! The subways are just 2 blocks away in both directions as well as buses. The space is cozy with a great bed, TV, racks to hang clothing as well as a working kitchen to cook your own food. It is a classic NYC walk up, so don't expect modern fixtures, simply indulge in the prewar charm. Mena is a very accommodating hostess dedicated to the happiness of her guests. The room is divided by floor to ceiling curtains so there is no full sound privacy, but she has fans to cancel to noise installed. Highly recommend!
Jun 27, 2019I had a wonderful stay with Mena. The space is as shown in the pics. She's great about staying in touch- made arrangements for me to get the keys since our schedules were different. The apartment is very close to the subway, to Central Park and to restaurants and grocery stores. The street noise is a bit loud, but that's to be expected given the location and it's definitely worth it to be so central to everything! Mena is a gracious and accommodating hostess!
Jun 27, 2019Mena was an amazing host! She left fresh towels and even made my bed. She was extremely attentive. Although we didn't meet due to our schedules, Mena was very responsive. The apartment was very zen, charming, and in a fantastic upper westside location. It was clean and in a great location near wonderful restaurants and with Central Park right down the block. I would definitely stay here again. It was great!
Jun 27, 2019This was my 3rd visit staying with Mena, and I keep returning for the same wonderful reasons! She is an excellent hostess - very accommodating, great with communication, arrival and departure is always flexible and simple, and if a minor issue ever arose (ex: the wifi went out once) she took care of and had resolved promptly. Her apartment is so charming, located in my favorite neighborhood in NYC - the Upper West Side. There are coffee shops, wine bars, restaurants all around - great residential neighborhood with still plenty to do if you don't feel like getting further in to town. It's about a 3 minute walk to Central Park, the subway - you really couldn't ask for a better location. It's beginning to feel like my home away from home. Thanks Mena! Hope to see you again soon!
Jun 27, 2019Not much to say because I was literally only at the apartment when I was sleeping, BUT I still highly recommend staying at Mena's place. The location is absolutely perfect! The one time I did need a question answered, Mena was quick to respond and help. The apartment was very clean as well. I did not meet Mena due to our schedules but I would definitely book again.
Jun 27, 2019I stayed at Mena's UWS apartment for 3 nights and my stay was fantastic! Despite my last minute trip to NY, everything was prepared and perfect. Mena is very easy to communicate with and very responsive. She is friendly, attentive, flexible, and can give you some good tips on NY. The apartment was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location is excellent, right by Central Park and with a subway stop 2 blocks away. The neighborhood is nice and quiet with a residential feel to it, but with a lot of nice bars and restaurants a few blocks away. I would definitely recommend staying at Mena's place.

Jun 27, 2019The place is a typical Manhattan walk-up. No frills but really convenient location and I only needed a place to sleep so I didn't spend much time there. It got loud at nights because one of the bars close by has live music. Mena had some helpful suggestions on how to drown out the noise and offered to call them though, which was nice. In general, Mena was very responsive and I also appreciated that she sent me a heads-up anytime she needed to pick up something from her place. We didn't end up overlapping after check-in, but it was a nice gesture from her to notify me just in case I was there.

Jun 27, 2019The apartment is ok. For the price we paid, we expected more. It is really small, the bathroom is not clean (moisture) and it is really noisy at night. That being said, Mena is really kind and the location is great.
Jun 27, 2019Great location just a few minutes walk from Central Park and the subway. Mena was really nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Her place is cozy and comfortable. We didn't see her much as we were out most of the time and so was she, but she was quick to answer if I had any questions about the place. The neighborhood is awesome, too! Lots of restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay here again.
Jun 27, 2019O apartamento da Mena é bem gostoso, bem aconchegante e a localização impecável, próximo de duas estações de metrô, do Central Park e do museu de historia e natural, fora o bairro que é uma delícia e seguro. Ela foi super atenciosa com a gente na chegada, ela atrasou um pouco a entrega do apartamento, porém deixou a gente deixar as malas antes mesmo do combinado. Mas tivemos um pequeno desconforto durante a locação. Alugamos o apartamento inteiro, e era a primeira vez dela, ela sempre está acostumada a alugar o quarto. Então ela falou pra gente que se precisasse de roupa a mais pro trabalho, iria nos avisar com antecendência, para não nos deixar supresos. Ela foi de fato 2 vezes, avisando, porem apareceu mais 2 vezes sem nos avisar, uma pra pegar roupa e outra, na nossa vespera de saida, para arrumar para os proximos hospedes, e ainda tomou banho. Ficamos sem graça e bem surpreso. Sabemos que não foi por maldade, mas não ficamos 100% confortáveis e a vontade num apartamento, que é o espírito do Airbnb.

Even though the checkout time was at 11 a.m., she was extremely open to letting me leave my luggage there till later in the day, which was much appreciated. The building got noisy at night, but overall a wonderful place to stay for a quick trip to NYC!

We asked for recommendations on places for craft beer etc and she even walked to the places to confirm the addresses for us. Her apartment is in a great location too. Felt much more like home than just a room. We will stay at Mena's place every time we come back to NYC. Thank you Mena!
Jun 27, 2019I always love staying on the Upper West Side and Mena's place is perfectly located for taking a walk in Central Park, walking to numerous restaurants, taking the subway and even hopping on the local bus for a super quick way to get to Lincoln Center, Hells Kitchen, etc.
Jun 27, 2019Mena is an excellent host! She could not have made my stay more enjoyable. I was in the city for 8 nights for work. Here are some things to know about my visit: 1. The location is everything. The apartment is within walking distance (short and easy) from multiple subway stops, Central Park, shopping areas, great restaurants, Trader Joe's and the Museum of Natural History...the Met is right across the park as well. Mena is super knowledge about the area and recommended great food options, offered traveling advice etc. 2. Check in and check out was simple, Mena was flexible with meeting to coordinate keys and always reachable via text/phone call if a question came up. She was also very accommodating when I added a last-minute guest to my stay. 3. The apartment is comfortable and clean. I felt like I had my own personal and private space, which I was worried about before hand because of the curtain divider described online. It was not an issue for me. On the note, Mena is quite enjoyable to live with! She made coffee and tee every morning with breakfast. Very sweet. Overall I enjoyed my stay very much and would 100% recommend to other Airbnb users. I will be on the look out for Mena's next time I need a place to stay in NYC.

Jun 27, 2019What a great little spot! Perfectly located, walking distance to many great restaurants, shopping, Central Park, and public transportation. The apartment is situated in a lovely part of the upper west side filled with fun things to do and neat shops to check out. The apartment itself is small but comfortable, it has everything you need for a simple trip. The bed was very comfortable and the curtains gave me plenty of privacy and comfort. Mena was an amazing host, super quick to respond, very flexible and constantly going above and beyond her 'duties'. I had a little trouble with the dates I had reserved the location for and she took care of it promptly and efficiently. I would definitely chose to stay here again on my next trip to NY!

A 10 min walk to get to the subway station. Many restaurants to pick from and easy to walk to. I will definitely stay here again!!!

Jun 27, 2019Great location next to Central Park and lots of nice restaurants, boutiques and coffee shops down the street. I appreciated that Mena responded to me immediately after messaging her through the Airbnb app throughout my stay if I had any questions or updates for her. There is no elevator in the complex, so be prepared to go up 2 flights of stairs.
Jun 27, 2019It's a great time in NYC! So close to the subway so you're minutes away from anything you want in Manhattan! Walking distance (literally 3 blocks) to the natural history museum, right by Central Park so if spending time there is your thing, this is a great place for it!

There is a bed surrounded by curtains, but if the host is home and you want privacy-the AC may not cool you adequately. One of the neighbors likes to play loud music at night until about midnight.

Jun 27, 2019Mena is a fabulous host! I was a little nervous traveling in my own but Mena made it feel like I was just visiting a friend in the city. She was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond. The apartment is completely open, so the two sleeping areas (Mena's and yours) are just separated by curtains, but I still felt I had a lot of privacy in the space. The bed was very comfortable and I felt very safe at her place. I slept very well. It reminded me of my college days just having a roommate and that was fun if you're into that vibe. There was some noise at night from a band as others said, but it didn't bother me. I guess my long days of training and yoga practice helped me zone it out or I used it to help me sleep since it's pretty muffled and the hum of the fans in the apartment helped drown it out and clear my head. Maybe bring ear plugs or listen to something on your phone that's relaxating if you're worried about it being a bother. The "room" had towels, and was all made up and ready so I felt welcomed. Mena also bought some bottled water for me (though the tap tasted fine too). The location is amazing. Though I was in a training all day and couldn't enjoy the attractions it's so close to Central Park, American Museum of Natural History, yummy restaurants and stores. It's great and I would stay again!!

Mena made my stay comfortable in every way: ease of check-in/checkout, comfortable bed, fresh towels, advice on local restaurants (so many good ones close by), and even an umbrella when it looked like rain! This will be my "go to" when I visit NYC. I've even booked my next stay with Mena. Recommend.

Jul 27, 2019My second time doing Air bnb in NYC and instead of rolling the dice on a new place I decided to stay with the same host again. She and her apt are great! Very close to Central Park, the subway, museums, etc. You won’t be disappointed here.

I keep coming back because of the location (a block from Central Park, a block from a subway stop), the host (Mena is a great host and more than accommodating), and the price (relatively inexpensive for NYC). This was a work trip for a conference, but when I come back for fun I’ll be sure to look her up again!

Her apartment is in a terrific location and I felt like there was plenty of privacy with the curtain setup. I would stay with Mena again!

I can’t think of a better and most awesome host as Mena is, she responds to messages prior to your stay right away and provides her guests with all relevant informations about NYC! It was my second time staying with Mena and I can’t recommend her highly enough for her outstanding hospitality and looking after me while I was staying at her place! I simply love the Upper West Side, within walking distance to Central Park, lots of restaurants around and public transportation right next door to get you anywhere in the city within no time! I’m already looking forward staying with Mena in the not so far future and really hope to be back very very soon .... I miss that comfy bed a lot! Thank you, Mena ... you are the best!!!!!

Jun 27, 2019I really enjoyed staying with Mena. I felt so comfortable in her place. The curtains go from floor to the very high ceilings so I could have as much or as little privacy as I wanted. I was a little worried about noise from the club nearby so I brought earplugs, but I never even thought about using them. Mena has a busy schedule too so for the most part, I felt as if I had the place to myself. The location is fantastic. Green spaces nearby, super easy subway access, and so many restaurants within a few blocks. I will definitely stay with Mena again. Thank you Mena!

Mena’s a great host, staying with her for the weekend is the absolute way to go! P.S. the only reason I didn’t rank it better than I expected was because I knew to expect excellence being it was my fourth time here!

Jul 27, 2019The location is great. If you just need a place for a sleep, you could choose this place with reasonable price. However, I need a private space - at least a room with a door. But this place cannot meet. I didn’t expect a space with just curtain separated. And plus the bathroom is quite not...clean. Maybe it’s my fault not reading carefully. So I applied early check out and appreciated that Mean agreed.
Jun 27, 2019Mena was friendly; but sadly the apartment was ultra dirty, she arrived late (and she was surprised I arrived on time myself) and it was raining - at 9.25pm with a 15hours of travel with two flights, trust me you’re not really happy. Bed was not ready, I helped to do it (blood on the mattress) .. bathroom was suppose to be private but I had to share it with the host. Bathtub had been announced to be old. Old would have been ok: it was even more dirty.. curtains not to mention. In the morning I wanted to have some coffee : I couldn’t use microwave as there was a very old cup inside - didn’t want to go further. No WiFi as expected - no air conditioning (even if I don’t like it) the repair guy was supposed to come the day after (surprisingly) Anyway! Mena looks friendly, but I’m surprised nobody complained about the quality (clean) of this apartment. $110/night + cleaning fee is clearly not a bargain when it is that dirty and non as expected. Make a super big clean-up first and then make this apt available again. It’s humanly not possible!
Jun 27, 2019This apartment is in great location to discover New York. Almost next to Central Park allows you to go jogging there in then morning (or whenever). Mena is very warm, welcoming and helpful host! The apartment is convenient for a single traveler or a couple who don't expect a brand new facilities.

Jun 27, 2019I turned up at West 84th Street on the day of my visit. I had previously sent Mena two messages, one two days earlier, but received no response. No one was at home. I went round the corner for a bite to eat. No one was at home again. I phoned the phone number associated with Mena's account and it was out of order. I emailed her direct, again nothing. I now got in touch with Airbnb in a state of confusion and panic. They tried to reach her by phone and via messaging. They could not get through. I was advised by Airbnb to seek a local hotel which I duly did after a 30 mins walk. The cost was $289. Airbnb refunded my reservation but are now saying I can only get back $100, despite not mentioning this in a previous message. 9 days after my visit, I still have no explanation of what happened from the host. I am bitterly disappointed with this, my first experience of booking with this site.

If you’re in NY and want to see what a great neighborhood looks like, explore the Park and have instant access to any part of the City via Subway, this is your place! The apartment can have some “city noise” but it really ads to the authenticity and charm of this apartment. Mena makes a great cup of coffee and has clearly never met a stranger. You won’t be disappointed. Mena is the real deal, incredibly genuine and super kind. Thanks so much Mena! Until we meet again!

Jun 27, 2019Overall disappointing stay. We were told to arrive later than check in and even with accommodating, we came to an unmade bed with stained sheets. However, the bed was made when we came back from dinner a few hours later. We were not given a tour, offered coffee or tea as described, or clean towels until the early morning when we were heading out to the airport. There was no wifi in the apartment as described in the listing which we were depending on to look at directions to places in the area. After coming from another airbnb with a similar price this place did not compare. The location is good for locals, however, given the price there are better accommodations for the same cost.
