A couple of homes in our neighborhood may look run down due to the high cost for maintenance. Most neighborhoods look very similar except for gated areas in Turtle Bay and Sunset Area. Please note that our neighborhoods are very safe and family oriented. The local people are nice and with lots of Aloha.
Transit
The bus stop is just a few minutes walk from my house. It runs every half hour and takes you anywhere on the island. However waiting time and travel time might take up some time from your trip. I won't recommend it to guests that are planning to stay for only a short period of time. I would strongly recommend them to get a bus schedule online.

The few days we spent at Samantha's house were easily the best of our entire vacation. Her house is spacious, bright, and very comfortable. There were four of us but this apartment has plenty of room for more. It was very comfortable with ceiling fans in each room. Samantha and her family live right upstairs but you'd never know it because they are so quiet. Samantha is a very attentive and generous host. She had fresh fruit waiting for us with new fruit each day. She is proud of her area and eager to share insider tips on where to go and where to shop. We swam at quiet beaches only the locals know about. Samantha provides plenty of beach towels. After a long day at the Polynesian Cultural Center, it was great to be able to drive just five minutes and go to sleep! We loved the time we spent with Samantha and feel like we have a new friend in Hawaii.
Jun 27, 2019Our stay at Samantha's was the best part of our trip to O'ahu! We were just so relaxed & were able to fully experience the spirit of Aloha at her property; the beach with excellent snorkelling (turtles!) is literally at the end of the street, hiking in rainforest & waterfalls in the volcanic hills directly adjacent to the property, plus shops & bus services an easy 5 minute stroll away.. It was such a pleasure to meet Samantha in the flesh, she had gone out of her way to meet my needs (I was travelling to O'ahu for a friend's wedding with my active toddler) & was helpful and discreet. The property itself met our needs perfectly - asides from being self-contained, allowing me to cater to my toddler - it was immaculately clean & on the ground floor. We slept like logs in the comfy beds, able to eat like at home when we cooked for ourselves & the additional touch of leaving ample reading material for us was just such a welcome surprise - thank you! If you do need to escape from the mayhem of Waikiki I can't recommend Samantha's property enough, you will discover another part of O'ahu...and maybe yourself... Plus perfect for families.
Jun 27, 2019Hidden Gem in Hauula!!!! My sister and I stayed at Samanthas house end of May. It was awesome! Very quiet and relaxing. Very reasonably priced. The house itself was well maintained and clean. The bedrooms are big and spacious. Furniture and beds are comfortable. She provided us with everything we needed. Even went out of her way and bought electric fans for us. Another bonus is that parking is included! Samantha was very friendly, welcoming and an excellent host. Her kids are adorable. I wish she had a house to rent in Kauai and Maui. I would definitely recommend staying at Samanthas!!!

Jun 27, 2019Samantha was great, she greeted us when we arrived. Gave us a walk-through and let us know where everything was. Plenty of towels, dishes, rooms were spacious even had a washer and dryer. Samantha let us know about the best places to visit. She even allowed us to use their snorkel gear and boogie boards.

Jun 27, 2019Samantha was an absolutely amazing host. Despite being 8 months pregnant (and in the middle of a summer heat wave) she was always available and responsive. We spent two weeks in Hauula, and fell in love with the area, and the house! The home is spacious, comfortable, clean, and so peaceful. It is a bit of a drive back to the Honolulu side, but definitely worth the tranquil surroundings, and easy commute to the world famous North Shore. There is a grocery store, and several small eateries around the corner, and the white sandy beaches of Waimea Bay are a short drive away. Everything you need in one perfect little paradise package! Avoid the tourist crush, and stay in the 'real Hawaii'. You won't be disappointed.
Jun 27, 2019Our host family was wonderful. Samantha made check in and check out easy. She showed/told us everything we needed to know about the property and our stay. The house was great. Everything was in good order, freshly painted, etc. Having access to a washer and dryer on site was a real bonus. The accommodations were perfect for our family of six. Being in a quiet town, instead of a busy city was nice. Most our our planned activities were around north shore, so the location was really convenient. Much better than having to drive from Honolulu repeatedly. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to stay in the north shore area, rather than Honolulu.

Everything one needs is within a short walk or drive. Overall, my wife and I had a wonderful time. We would highly recommend booking with Samantha.

Samantha and her husband were very friendly and were a great help with our time there. It definitely is an area to get away from the tourists. We had the small beach all to ourselves and even used the boards provided by Samantha. I would definitely recommend this place if you are visiting PCC and want to get away from all the tourists.
Jun 27, 2019This was a great first Airbnb experience. The location was right across from the Hau'ula Beach Park and close to two shopping centers. Really convenient location to get to Giovanni's Shrimp Truck, Ted's Bakery, Papa Ole's and about an hour drive each to Waikiki, Hanauma Bay, and the Honolulu Airport. The unit is very clean and well stocked with all essential items and Samantha and her family are great hosts. Responds to any inquiries within 30 minutes and recommended a bunch of things to do around the area while caring for a new baby!
Jun 27, 2019Great self contained place! Huge open kitchen/dining/lounge and massive bathroom. Main room great size too. We loved all the attention to detail from Samantha - from snorkels to coffee to beach towels and sunscreen and shampoo - it was all there and available for guest use. She really went over and beyond too as my son had his birthday there and she allowed her children to come to a small party. I also did some online shopping and she was okay with mail being sent. A million times better than any hotel if you'd rather save your money :-) Insider tips- don't panic about no local Safeway - it is all Foodland on that part of the Island. Try the Laie Palms family cinema. Also a very small rock pool on the closest beach was awesome for small kids. Location is very good for commuting - an hour gets you any part of the island pretty much so super easy if you want to do both North Shore and Kailua or Honokulu and Waikiki etc.

Jun 27, 2019Samantha and her family were very welcoming. She gave us a quick tour upon arrival and offered to be available if needed. The listing description is very accurate the house is very well kept. The neighborhood was quiet and family oriented. There was a total of 8 people traveling with us. 5 adults and 3 children ages 8, 7 and 3. We had plenty of space to comfortably rest relax and enjoy our vacation together. The washer and dryer were definitely gold to us! Although we were always on the go taking advantage of every minute were had on the island, at the end of the day we all felt like we were going "HOME". Thank you Samantha for everything, we wouldn't change anything about our stay !

Samantha was very helpful with all of our needs for the baby as well. The house was even nicer than it seemed in the pictures, and we were very pleased. She provided water shoes, boogie boards, snorkeling gear, and other beach accessories so we didn't have to bring our own, or buy much while we were there. Would definitely recommend her as a host!

Jun 27, 2019Samantha was a welcoming host. Her house is in a small development, with many other houses crowded round hers and no outdoor space for sitting. She and her family live on the second floor of the house and we occupied the first floor (Website hidden by Airbnb) The space was clean and neat with comfortable beds for 6 people, and one large modern bathroom. Unfortunately there was no grab bar in the shower and no rubber mat on the floor - a very slippery situation for the geriatrics, plus no shelves inside the shower for soap, washcloths, or shampoo bottles. The place was not set up for the 5 of us - only 4 coffee mugs, 4 glasses and 4 cereal bowls; the dish rack and garbage pail were very small, plus there was no kettle and no measuring cup. Our most difficult problem was the lighting: only overhead lights and no reading lamps by the beds or in the living room. We're readers and we greatly missed having reading lights. The driveway was difficult for us - we had to back down the length of it in a large and unfamiliar rented car. It was hard to do! The beach was nice and close, as was a supermarket.

The rental is the bottom floor of a two-storey with the owners living above. There was never any noise or disturbance, and I felt we had sufficient privacy. It is a good-sized living space, and is in good condition. The house is in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the beach and the Hau'ula loop and Ma'akua ridge hiking trails. It is also convenient to Polynesian Cultural Center and the beaches of the North Shore. Covered parking was provided. I felt this rental was an excellent value, especially for our large family.

Jun 27, 2019Samantha and her family were awesome. My husband and I got married in Laie and used Samantha's place for the groomsmen and my husband to stay in the night before the wedding. She was great about communication and even gave them a later checkout time so that they could get ready for the wedding at the house. My husband said it was beautiful, comfortable, and spacious and he would highly recommend it.
Jul 27, 2019We stayed at Samantha's for almost a week and a half and I truly wish we had stayed more. Her place was so inviting I honestly felt like I was staying with family. If you want to experience the Ohana way, stay at Samantha's place. My whole family (including my 1 year old) felt at home. My one wish was that I remembered to use hthe beach gear for when we went swimming. But oh well, next time ;) Mahalo Samantha
Jun 27, 2019We called our host and met her there when we arrived. She was pleasent and gave my wife a tour while I unloaded the van. No stairs to climb which made it convenient. We had six of us staying there and our youngest was 11 yrs. old, we felt safe. For our needs the location was great and stores, beaches were very near. She never bothered us and was very nice when we departed.
Jun 27, 2019This rental was perfect for me and my family. It had three rooms, one bathroom and a kitchen/living room/dining area all in one big room. The entire house was very spacious. We were on the first floor of a two story house but we had a lot of privacy. We also used a couple of the boogie boards and scuba gear that was available to us by Samantha. When we first got there, her son (I am guessing) showed us around the space and I met Samantha that night and we ran into each other a couple of times throughout our trip but for the most part, we were left alone which was fine with us. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Oahu.

Previous posts said there was no a/c, but there is a small a/c in the master bedroom upstairs that made it very comfortable. Thanks for the wonderful stay.

Plenty of space for 9 people, well furnished, the kitchen upstairs has the bulk of the utensils and dishes, close to the beach, and lots of beach gear. Some GPS navigation apps/devices might throw a fit at the address, just be persistent and creative. Samantha was great at communicating before and during the trip. This side of the island is now my favorite!
Jun 27, 2019Amazing house!! Just one minute away from the east coast, I can see the sunrise in the morning. Near the North shore only 30 min from the Shark's cove and Sunset beach, the best place for snorkeling and surfing. The house has all of facilities even Monopoly! I like this house very much cuz there are not many visitors here and it is near the real beautiful viewpoints(not tourism viewpoints). Strongly recommend.
Jun 27, 2019The house was more than we expected! Samantha was very timely with her responses whenever I had a question. Rooms were great and accomodated our large wedding group. Neighborhood is quiet but kept noise level down during the evening with no complaints from neighbors. Very large master bedroom with private bathroom. The long driveway could fit at least 6 cars. Had a great time at her residence. We would stay here again!

Jun 27, 2019We had the opportunity to check in a little earlier since there was no one staying prior to us. That also gave us the chance to meet Samantha in person and she is just as sweet in person as she is on profile. The home is very welcoming and exactly as shown in photos. We got a little lost at first only because we didn't see that it is actually located in the back. The location is very close to the beach, we walked a few times and a 7 eleven was close by so things were very convenient. We loved that it was just a few minutes away from grocery stores and other amenities. Would love to book in the future.
Jun 27, 2019Samantha was great! She offered to let us check-in early and check-out later, which would have been great if we weren't already running around planning our wedding at Kualoa Ranch. The house is perfect! It fit our huge family, and it was only 20 mins away from our wedding venue. The house has 2 separate kitchens, which was perfect for 2 asian families that liked to cooked. It also has 2 separate living room areas and a ton of space. Samantha and the house were great! Will definitely stay again! Thanks Samantha!

Jun 27, 2019My children, grandchildren & I stayed at Samantha's place in Hau'ula while we attended a family reunion in nearby Laie. It was the perfect place, accommodating all 15 of us and we could have added a few more. The house was very clean & Samantha provided us with various items for beach use. Just 3 blocks away are 3 hiking trails, 1 totally paved where we ventured with all 7 young grandkids. Later I did a more serious hike. I recommend Samantha's place if you need a place to stay for a large group of people.

Jun 27, 2019The neighborhood was a quite family oriented neighborhood as described in the original posting. The house was clean and well furnished for large groups. Our group was boy scouts. We were able to have the scouts sleep upstairs and the adults sleep downstairs. There was also a covered carport area where the scouts were able to do some grilling even though it rained off and on while the scouts were cooking. And a grocery store right down the road.
Jun 27, 2019We had an enjoyable stay at Samantha's house, who proved to be a friendly host. It is a spacious accommodation, great for large family gatherings and the like, in a good location with easy access to many North Shore sites. There is no A/C in the house (actually, there a couple of machines but they weren't working during our stay) and it can get muggy at times, especially during the day. There is usually a breeze, but if you don't like humid conditions, and if you plan to spend a lot of time in the house and not out and about, this may not be the place for you. But overall, we'd definitely recommend this lodging.
Jul 27, 2019Samantha was very responsive and friendly. She was flexible and gave us the option of checking in a few hours early, too! The place was pretty much as described, though a few things were not working, like both A/C units, one of the microwaves, a fan downstairs... It wasn't fancy but it was clean and the kitchen was well-stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc as well as many staples such as cooking oil etc. Hauula was a little more isolated than I realized, (so finding places to eat took a little creativity), and the street felt a little run-down. Overall, it was a good experience!

Jun 27, 2019Host is quick on communication. We asked for an early check in and was able to give us that. The rental house was perfect as described. The only thing was the AC was not working on both units. The wires were literally cut. Luckily it was not too hot and humidity for us. The fans worked just fine. The location is near North Shore ( North-East side of the island) so if you want to do all the activities near Waikiki, expect an hour drive each way. The neighborhood is quiet as it can be, besides maybe a couple of rooster calling 5 or 6 AM in the morning. Overall a good place if you have a big family.
Jun 27, 2019The house was really great there was 14 and our group. With the two separate living areas we never felt like we are on top of each other. Smith and make sure at the time of booking that we knew that there was no air conditioning which was fine. It wasn't that hot nothing that the open windows and ceiling fans can cool down. We really love the fact that the house was furnished with beach towels boogie boards and other water accessories. Would definitely recommend the house to anybody. And if you try looking it up on (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps it's not the house that you see. It's a house that is behind the one on the main road. Great house great location really close to the beach but definitely stay there again we had the chance
Jun 27, 2019Samantha did a great job of contacting me regarding access to the house and also making sure there were enough blankets, etc. My family had a great time cooking dinners together and going to the beach. While Hauula is not in a touristy area, there are things to do that are very nearby, such as the Polynesian Cultural Center, shrimp trucks and shops, and numerous beautiful beaches. It was also very convenient to my home in Kaneohe, so it beat putting everyone up in Honolulu. All in all, it was a wonderful experience for everyone! Mahalo Samantha!!

Jun 27, 2019Place was not what we expected. Didn't have any problems, but the neighborhood doesn't look very inviting. It actually looks scary when you are driving up. There's some rooms with things you can't use. Laundry room is used more for storage. We made the mistake of not taking pictures of thar stains on the carpet and ended up being charhed to clean the carpets. We found a few roaches in the kitchen.

The distance from the city didn't hinder any of our expeditions as the ride allowed us to enjoy the scenery ofHawaii. Samantha was a great boast and definitely made our vacation wonderful.

Jun 27, 2019Samantha was a great host. She very quick to answer questions. The house was just right for our 12 people. It was nice having two living areas. We didn't feel crowded at all. It was convenient having everything provided kitchen wise. It saved us lots of money being able to cook instead of going out every meal. The only down side for us was that it was very hot without air conditioning even with the windows open and the fans going and there was a rooster next door that woke us up about 3:30 every morning. That said, we would stay there again and recommend it to anyone who wants to stay on the upper East side close to great beaches, the Polynesian Cultural Center and North Shore activities. Jun 27, 2019House was great. Great location friendly neighborhood. Only minor problems with the house. All the air conditioning in the house had the cords cut. Water heater I think turned off during the stay but it was bearable. Overall it was a great trip.
Jun 27, 2019We really enjoyed our stay here. Accommodated 10 adults and two infants with space to spare. Quaint authentic Hawaiian neighborhood-- felt like we lived in Hawaii rather than insulated at a resort. Beautiful beaches close by-- our favorite was Pounders beach just a mile up the road towards Laie. Took two great hikes each just minutes from the house. Loved the mountain backdrop!

Jun 27, 2019Samantha's home is a two story house with kitchen amenities upstairs and downstairs, 3 bedrooms on each floor, and 3 bathrooms. Washer and dryer available with 2 spacious living rooms/common rooms. A short walk to the ocean and a short drive to a beach.
Jun 27, 2019Samantha was a wonderful host. She responds to any questions or concerns very quickly. However, I don't think I can say quite the same for the house. It is a relatively nice house in Hauula, yet we encountered some issues. The bedrooms were not as clean as we thought it would be, and the floors had leftover crumbs from the previous guest. Furthermore, some of the appliances were showing their age like the fans in the house that were broken upon our arrival. That being said, the price you pay for the house is what you get, so I can't be overly upset about what we encountered at the house.
Jun 27, 2019We really enjoyed staying at this property. Our family of 12 and 2 babies fit really well. There was a lot of fridge space and the house was well stocked. We loved the fact that she has beach things available for our use. It was clean and Samantha was very responsive to my communications. The only drawback was no air conditioning. Especially bad in August. She does provide extra fans but it was still very warm. Great house. We would stay here again.

Jun 27, 2019Home was super cute and very clean. This time of year is hot so no A.C. is hard but the host provides a lot of fans. The home has a great set up for families. The home is very close to great beaches. This side of the island is much slower than Honolulu, which I love. Thanks for a wonderful home stay.

Clean, spacious, walking distance to the beach and convenient stores. We truly enjoyed our stay and her home. She was kind, helpful, and made our stay feel like home.
Jun 27, 2019Samantha was very attentive to our needs, answered quickly any questions we had. House is clean and very accomodating to a large family! Very close to beaches, right across the street. Polynesian Cultural Center 5 minutes away, supermarket and drug store and 7-11 all within 5 minute drive. Has all cooking supplies needed just add the ingredients. Beautiful scenic drive to downtown Waikiki! Would recommend if you don't want to be in all the craziness of downtown but close enough to drive to. This is the greener side of Oahu. Don't be concerned it may be misty here but when you get to Waikiki it is sunny! Beautiful mountain views! Came in in December 2017 had a wonderful time making memories!
Jun 27, 2019Samantha's place was very spacious and it had many rooms. Here in Hawaii, spacious house like that for big families like ours are hard to come by at that kind of price. It's either over a thousand dollars a night "mentions" or run down place in not so safe neighborhood at an okay price range. We did have our doubts when we reserved the place but it had exceeded our expectation. The location had pros and cons. Pros were that it was near many "country" side of the island's tourist attractions such as the PCC and many beautiful beach parks along the north side of the island. The cons were that it was a quite a drive from the Waikiki and the south side of the island as it is located in north east side of the island. The house was generally a clean house. Beds were made and the kitchen was organized and bathrooms were clean. Some things in the house were old but not unusable. Samantha kept in touch with us and checked on us often. I would definitely recommend Samantha's place to my friends and families.

Jun 27, 2019We loved our stay!! The house is big and spacious and very clean. Don't worry about the air conditioning, Sam supplies plenty of fans to move the air and the house has lots of windows to catch the island breezes. It was the perfect house for our large family, we had enough room to be together and play games, but still have room to not be together too much. The house is well stocked with cooking supplies and all the amenities we needed. The location of the house is perfect. We saw whales in the ocean just across the street from the house and monk seals also live on the beach. We were 5 minutes from the PCC and just 15 minutes from the North Shore. Kauloa Ranch and the Byodo-In temple are about 20 minutes south. It takes about an hour to get to Waikiki, which can be seen as either a bonus or a drawback. We didn't really want all the hubbub of the City so for us it was perfect. Sam texted us everyday to make sure all was well, and we knew that if anything went awry she would be able to help. She left a helpful list of attractions and things to see. We would definitely love to stay at Sam's again. Thank you Sam, for making our first trip to the island so very wonderful. Jun 27, 2019Awesome location and awesome host! If you have a big group this is the perfect place, especially if you want to stay away from the city and be more closer to nature. This house is basically north shore heaven. Samantha also provides water boards and snorkeling gear to use throughout your trip. Checking in and out was very simple as well, which is a huge plus. If you want to have a good time this is the place to stay. Samantha is also available anytime you have questions or concerns which helps make a better experience for everyone. Mahalo Samantha!
Jun 27, 2019We booked this listing the same day we arrived. Samantha was very communicative and kept our check-in time prompt. It’s an excellent place for a large group as we had 10+. We had 4 small kids in our group so the yard and playhouse were a great touch to keep the kids occupied. This is 50min-1hr from HNL airport, but well worth the trip and right down the street from a nice beach. Very satisfied across the board.

Jun 27, 2019Wonderful place to stay. Private and plenty of room for a large family like ours. We still had room for more! Plenty of parking for all. Had everything you would need to have away from home. There are grocery stores a couple of blocks from home and another bigger store in Laie plus places to eat if you want to eat out. Close to everything on island. We were all over the island hiking, snorkeling, swimming in ocean, sightseeing, you name it we did it.
Jun 27, 2019Great communication with the host. She was very quick in responding to questions. This is a good place if you have more than 14 people. We had 3 cars and they fit in the parking space. The place could use some upgrade, but it is not a big deal. Overall, my family enjoyed their stay.

Jun 27, 2019This home is even better than advertised. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of space, the size of the bedrooms and the common space. All you need for a great vacation is provided. Appliances, dishes, pots and pans, water toys, it is all there. If you want to get away from the traffic and hustle and bustle of the city, and want to really enjoy the North Shore and all it has to offer, then this is the place for you!. A great value!
Jun 27, 2019ｸﾘｽﾏｽ時期に家族と利用しました｡ 大人8人子供4人の私たちには十分な広さのお宅でした｡ 特にｷｯﾁﾝが良かったです｡大きなｵｰﾌﾞﾝが鳥を丸ごと焼くのに大助かりで､ 家族との食事が大いに盛り上がりました! 海外でのairbnbの利用は初めてで､不安も感じましたが､滞在中もこちらの質問(主にｺﾞﾐの捨て方)に細かいﾌｫﾛｰ連絡をくれて､親切に感じました｡ 歩いて5分以内で海に行けたり､車でそれほど離れてないところにｽｰﾊﾟｰや観光施設もあり､家族が思い思いに過ごせたのも良かったです｡ﾜｲｷｷとは違うのんびりしたﾊﾜｲを楽しめました｡ We stayed for two nights. Samantha's house was wonderful, so comfortable, big enough for us (8adults 4kids). We especially love the kitchen with big oven. We enjoyed cooking during our stay. The location was also lovely. It takes 15-30 minutes to get many tourist spots by car. Supermarket was also nearby. We had a very relaxing time. Thank you Samantha!

Jun 27, 2019Awesome house, you can find everything there. We were 13 people with 3 cars and 2 motorcycles and there was space more than enough. Everything was clean and ready for our stay there. I had the pleasure to meet with Samantha, she is very kind. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOUSE 100%.
Jun 27, 2019LARGE home, a family member of mines is handicapped, so the downstairs worked well for him. The parking is quite tight, but fit 4 cars comfortably. Definitely worth the price for 16 guests
Jun 27, 2019This was an awesome place that comfortably housed 13 people for a couple day trip. We enjoyed the ample space for group Gatherings as well as the fully-equipped kitchens for some good old-fashioned home cooked meals. I would definitely recommend, and hope to come back someday in the future. Much mahalo!
