Space
Peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, yet only minutes away from the hustle and bustle of it all! We live in a quiet neighborhood in Kaneohe with beautiful views of the Ko'olau mountain range (Stairway to Heaven trail). Times Supermarket few blocks away, other major supermarkets a quick 5 minute drive. Tons of mom and pop restaurants within a few miles of our home. On Wednesdays and Sundays Windward Mall has a large farmer's market - which is only a 5 minute drive away. We highly recommend you rent a car to explore the island with. Although we are near bus stops - the buses are slow and you will enjoy your holiday more with a car. Plenty of closet space, a queen bed, with access to washer and dryer, kitchen, and bathroom. Neighborhood Overview
We live in a quiet, friendly neighborhood near the heart of Kaneohe and next to all the major freeways on this side of the island. We are a quick drive from Kailua, hikes, beaches, the bay, Honolulu, the airport, etc. Its about a 50 minute drive to the North Shore and its not only stunning but a great drive to stop at all the yummy food trucks along the way.
Notes
We do have a stray bunny who lives on the property and it is quite the "gangsta" - he will not let you pet him, but he has no fear of cars. Please be careful if you drive up onto the property that you keep an eye out for him. As this is the Windward side - there are random roosters and chickens who live in the neighborhood. If the noise bothers you (we recommend you close your windows) - we have ear plugs and a white noise machine. This is an open air house on the jungle mountain side - you get the cool mountain breezes and temperatures however you also get the natural element and "wildlife" (bugs/lizards/chickens #hawaiiawildlife). The house does show signs of aging in a tropical setting - the house is over 40 years old in original condition (so you'll see the occasional rust stain etc). And there are bugs/lizards/mosquitos in the garden - we can't really do anything about them however we do get routine pest control on the inside of the house. That said - heavy rains, leaving f

Access
Guests have full use of the one bedroom apartment and private lanai. If you wish to do laundry it is located at our apartment - the unit above. Feel free to do laundry at any time (it’s located outside the front door) but please be quiet as our bedroom is right there.

Rules
Please rent a car. It is not easy getting around by bus. Lyft uber end up expensive - cheaper to rent from turo. No shoes in the house (Hawaiian custom). Please rinse off feet before coming into the house after the beach. No drugs. Close screen doors (bugs) at all times. No vaping/smoking inside the house. If you bring a guest not stated in your booking it’s an additional $100/per night per person not in booking.

Jun 27, 2019A nice spacious place for 2 people, quite private with amazing views of the Ko'olau mountains. No water views, but the mountain view is actually better seeing the changing light on the ridges. The place has all amenities for a short or longer stay including a generous deck we didn't have much time to use. It's clean and not overly decorated, which suited us fine. It's easy to find and get in and out of with Likelike, Pali Hwy and H3 all nearby. Thus, it's conveniently located to get to the North, South and West side of the island while being in a not so touristy low-key spot. Having lived in the area before, we found Kaneohe little changed in regards to restaurants and cafes, a bit unexciting. However, Kailua has some good gems for eating, coffee and small store shopping and it's just a quick 10-minute drive away. So is one of the best beaches on the island, so all in one spot if you want it. Why not stay in Kailua then? Unless you are waterfront, the views can leave you a bit wishing. And yes, there is a rooster that crows early in the morning. However, we didn't find it to be a problem and went right back to sleep. Just makes things feel a bit more local, the whole reason to stay in an AirBnB. Mahalo!

Jun 27, 2019I loved my stay at Sarah's place. It was clean, stylish, offered amazing views, and in a great location. Sarah provided very detailed instructions before my arrival which made finding her house a breeze. The hammock was a relaxing spot to end my day, and she provided chocolates! Great hospitality and a great stay.
Jun 27, 2019Super appartement avec tout le confort souhaité. Joli coin dehors avec hamac! Attention au lapin de la maison quand on arrive en voiture. Bien placé comme point de départ pour visiter l'île. Sarah habite au dessus, disponible si besoin, contact très sympa. Nous avons beaucoup aimé cet endroit et ne pouvons que le recommander.

Jun 27, 2019I highly recommend staying in Sarah’s apartment if you have the opportunity. It was so nice to get a break from Waikiki and experience the Kaneohe life for a couple of days. I felt like a real local. I don’t think the pics do it justice. It’s stylishly decorated, incredibly clean, conveniently located to stores and restaurants and centrally located to get around the island. The views from the apartment are stunning. And the bed was soo comfy! One thing to note is that it’s not right at the beach if that’s what your looking for. In my opinion, it’s nice to mix up the trip a little and get a change of scenery. The views from the apartment are lovely. I felt a little like I was in a tree house. Mahalo.
Jun 27, 2019Felt like staying in my own home, very clean and comfortable. Check in was very easy, was sent detailed instructions before arrival making it easy to locate late at night. Loved the fact that they also had beach equipment, made my trip a lot easier. Mahalo.
Jun 27, 2019My husband and I loved our stay here! They were very responsive and the place was very clean! They had pots and pans and cooking utensils that we used when we wanted to stay home and cook one night. We highly recommend staying here!!
Jun 27, 2019The appartment is located very centrally in Kaneohe. Supermarktes, beaches and the Highway are only a couple minutes away by car. The perfect location if you look for a nice appartment with big outdoor space to yourself and want to explore the island from there. Sarah was super helpful, great and quick communication. The appartment has everything you need, even a dish washer! Equipment for the beach such as snorkeling sets, folding chairs, bodyboards and a cooler were also available for us, really nice! Thanks to our amazing hosts for letting us stay!

Sarah was an amazing host and even sent me information about the area long before our stay so that we could plan what we were doing from a local point of view. We didn’t want to leave when our stay was up. I still dream about that place.

Beautiful views from the awesome lanai that had outside dining table and a hammock that we took full advantage of! they provided us with everything we needed for our week there including and extra towels and stuff to have fun on the beach :) highly recommend this place, you will love it
Jun 27, 2019We had an AMAZING time at Sarah and John’s place! The apartment has gorgeous high ceilings, it was very spacious, and the patio was such a great place to relax (the hammock is my happy place). Stellar mountain views! Sarah and John were quick to respond to any questions, and John kindly offered up some great suggestions on dining and golf courses. Plenty of fluffy towels, access to beach gear, and great tv entertainment options. Kaneohe is a little removed from the hustle and bustle, which we really appreciated, and it has quick access to all the major highways to get where you need to go. Sarah and John’s place is tucked away at the end of a quiet street in a lovely little neighborhood - we enjoyed the peace and quiet when we were home. They found a genius way to deal with the roosters (state bird, gotta love em!): a white noise machine! As soon as we turned it on it completely drowned out the roosters - we didn’t hear a peep! There are roosters pretty much wherever you go in Hawaii, so we really appreciated this extra touch. Easy parking off the street. And we made good use of the well equipped kitchen, prepping several homemade meals during our stay. Highly recommend this apartment and hope to visit again!
Jun 27, 2019Me and my fiancée stayed in Sarah and John’s private apartment which is located underneath their actually home for 8 nights. The home is located in a nice quiet neighborhood and had an assigned parking space which is nice instead of paying for parking at a hotel! The home itself is clean, spacious and absolutely gorgeous.The lanai/patio had the most breathtaking view of the mountains and the hammock was amazing, perfect for relaxing after a long day of traveling the island. The home is equipped with a full kitchen with all the appliances you may need and even a microwave to heat up leftovers from previous nights haha. They also provided a binder with all the information as recommendations you may need about the island itself and also provided us with a coupon book that I unfortunately didn’t see until our last day there (which was totally my fault) The home also has great WiFi and a tv equipped with roku and Netflix, which was nice when we wanted to spend a night in. The one thing that made our stay memorable was the fact when we were doing laundry (the house has a washer and dryer located on the top floor of the home) on a day before we were gonna leave and I walked up ready to move one wet clothes in the drying, but it was already done by either Sarah or John and I thought that was so thoughtful on their part and I knew they were great host. On behalf of both of us, Thank you Sarah and John for letting us stay in your beautiful home.
