Neighborhood Overview

The drive down the valley to the main drag is no problem and the Main Street has a world class liquor store with poke, cheese. (Tamura’s). Long’s and Times grocery store are right there. Fun restaurants...Korean, Thai, New American, Zippy, McDonalds, plus public library and community park, fabric store, Kahala Mall, and much more nearby. Farmers market at nearby Kapiolani Community College. Close to Kahala beach, secluded and only good at low tide. Close by car to Honolulu zoo and Waikiki. Halfway to Hanauma Bay.

Notes

No smoking or pets allowed. No pets on property but neighbors have a few dogs in their yard as well as wild chickens nearby. This is a quiet neighborhood, so this is not a suitable place for a lot of noise. No big groups, no parties. This is a classic Hawaii home, meaning there may be some geckos, bugs, and wild chickens around. There are a few chickens that sometimes pass through the yard. It's a very clean home and we generally have no issues, but it can be a surprise for our mainland guests! Please check out on time, as we need to prepare the space for our next guests. Overstay fees will be charged at a rate of $25/hour.

Transit

Access

This two-bedroom space is attached to our downstairs living area but has two private entrances. The laundry is also located outside in the downstairs parking area. We have parking on-site as well as plenty of street parking.

This was the most amazing Airbnb I have ever stayed at and I am a regular. It is in a wonderful residential area that gives a great feel of how middle class families live on Oahu. Light, sunny, airy — views of neighboring valley and hillsides on both sides. It is a comfortable two bedroom home with bright open spaces, decorated simply. Great kitchen, real dining table for 4 and comfortable living room. 1 full bathroom (not thru bedroom) plus 1 extra toilet off one of the bedrooms. No need for A/C or heaters. Use Palolo ave from Waialae straight up to house for best view/drive. My 88 year old mom who is very picky approved highly! The roosters are just part of Hawaii and ear plugs were provided but I didn’t use them! Okay, only possible downside but this is Hawaii—one bedroom facing the street hears traffic during evening because windows are wide open for wonderful breeze. I would stay here for a few months or days easily!!!

Overall this was a nice place to stay. Also a good price. It is up a valley, right next to a main road. Jessica and Sarah were great hosts. They communicated well. The house was spotless; very clean. We were left by ourselves, which was nice. We met Sarah when we first arrived, and she was very nice. They did lots of little things to make us feel like we were in a real hotel. The house is pretty spacious - it has 2 bedrooms, 2 private toilets and a nice big shower. The living room is also nice. There was one issue, my wife could not sleep on the back bed, because it dipped low. We moved to the front room and slept there.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was spotless and pest free. The beds were very comfortable. We appreciated the snorkel gear and beach umbrella, and used it several times! They have a washer/dryer available, which was super helpful. Sarah was very communicative and quick to respond to any questions we had. I highly recommend staying here!

This home is fabulous. Clean, uncluttered and breezy, located in Palolo Valley in a cool residential area. You really get the feel of living on the Island rather than being a tourist. The house comes with all things needed to enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian beaches, towels, chairs and umbrella. We wish we could bring this bungalow back to CA with us. Thanks Sarah and Jessica!

Jessica was a terfific host, easy to communicate with and very responsive to our request to provide beach chairs. Her unit was exactly as described, clean and comfortable. Good location within a few minutes drive to Waikiki beach as well as major freeway to travel to other parts of Oahu.

The place is spacious with living room and kitchen key utensils, two separate spacious bedrooms and conveniently organized bathroom with movable door screen that separate it into two private parts so two available WC can be used privately and simultaneously. It indeed is breezy full with Hawaiian aloha air. It is great for those guests that need a base in quiet safe neighborhood area from where your can go into adventures by car and HW 1 is very near. Quiet means quiet so not for those that plan to party or be loud late in the night as quiet time is after 10 pm and sound spreads easily in those plantation type houses on the hill. It is 20 min drive from the Waikiki and that is what we did not realize when looking at the map so our personal preference next time would be to be closer to the beach so that you can walk to it rather then drive and struggle finding parking. Jess was available for questions any time and responded very quickly. Checking in and out went very smoothly.
