My family and I had a wonderful time staying with Lulie. We followed her directions and had no issues finding the place, although the road in might not be ideal for low profile vehicles. Her home was very quaint and lovely. Lulie and her husband were very welcoming, and their dogs are very cute and friendly. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a true Hawaiian experience.
Jun 27, 2019My daughter and I stayed at Lulie's wonderful place on the Big Island of Hawaii. I have been a Superhost in San Francisco for more than 6 years with more than 500 guests coming to stay with me. I try to get to know many of my guests as that is one of the main reasons I host. Our experience with Lulie and John was absolutely amazing as we really got to know them and become friends in such a short period of time. They are truly wonderful, warm, friendly and open people. The place is a very warm home with two separate bedrooms each with a real bed (no cots or pull outs). That is a rarity and really nice for stays like ours. There are no windows only screens but it is higher in the hills above Kona so the temperature in the evenings was nice and cool and great for sleeping. The shared bathroom was huge and it had a great shower. I also wanted to point out that I have a pretty severe allergy to cats and the listing mentioned they have two cats but they are outside. I can attest to seeing the cute cats outside and also can state that I had zero symptoms of allergies during my stay which means they do indeed stay and remain outside and not in the unit. Their dogs, Bam Bam and Zorro, are very friendly and welcoming, often running up to your car to greet you as you arrive. Bam Bam loves to be picked up and my daughter fell in love! Lulie told us about all sorts of great places to visit around the island and perhaps if we all are lucky, she may decide to lead an Airbnb Adventure to some of those places. All in all, this is an incredible Airbnb and I can highly recommend it to any independent traveler to the Big Island.
Jun 27, 2019This place is super cute! It is rustic with a fun history and comfortable with modern appliances. It's of the beaten path while being near town, is open air and the view is wonderful. The coqui frogs serenade through the night and the beds are comfortable. We all slept well and enjoyed meeting Luli, John and the animal welcome crew who, though friendly also know they are expected to stay outside. This was an enjoyable stay that we left well rested and ready for island time.
Jun 27, 2019Great place to stay! Nicely decorated and clean. We felt at home. Lulie is a wonderful host. Her hospitality was great!
Jun 27, 2019Lulie was an amazing host. She communicated everything very well and made our stay as comfortable as possible. The host really cares about her guests.

Jun 27, 2019lovely and comfortable house! Warm welcome from the hosts!
Jun 27, 2019Nice, rustic place - great for star watching!
Jun 27, 2019Lulie's place has so many sweet touches and very stylish decor. It is a renovated coffee shack on a beautiful property. It's rustic in the very best way possible. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets from both inside the cozy living room and outside the house on the patio - also great stargazing! Close to Kona and all the beaches and coffee farms but in a fun, artsy town just up the "hill" with its own amazing restaurant. Hawaiian breezes fill the open air home. Friendly dogs and cats on the property but not inside the house. Truly made our trip fun and unique! And our hosts, Lulie and John were very friendly and fun to talk to!
Jun 27, 2019From the moment we arrived at Lulie’s home we felt comfortable and at ease. The property is really magical as you feel you’re in an enchanted forest overlooking the ocean. Amazing sunset views, including from the bathroom! The bedrooms were very comfortable and a pleasure to sleep in because of the chirping birds. Sharing the common spaces with Lulie’s family was a breeze and we always felt welcome and at home. It’s plenty spacious for all. The dogs are an added bonus. Highly recommend!
Jul 27, 2019Lulie and John were absolutely lovely hosts- they made us feel welcome and at home in their cottage! Honestly this place has been by far our best air BnB experience. When arriving in the eve we were greeted by their pets who are super friendly and love being cuddled. If you follow Lulies instructions on how to get there it is easy to find, while being a little way off the centre of town. It is a hidden gem and you will be surrounded by scenic views and banana, avocado and citrus trees. The house is beautiful and the interior is cosy, and decorated with love and a lot of taste. You can tell they have put so much love into it. If you love pets, staying there is a must! We loved hanging out with Zorro, Bam Bam and their two cats. They gave us great tips on the best places to eat, hike and go snorkelling. And sharing the bathroom was never an issue at all. Absolutely recommend and wish we had stayed longer. Mahalo Lulie and John for being such lovely hosts! If we come back to Hawaii, we will definitely come again.
Jun 27, 2019I had great conversations with Lulie and John. They are both very nice people and were both very helpful in recommending local beaches and restaurants. The place itself is up in the mountains and provides a great view of Kona and the ocean below. I felt comfortable and had a great night's sleep.
Jun 27, 2019Lulie was a very kind host! We’ve had a warm welcome when we arrived. And very nice chats during our short stay. So sad we only had one night in this lovely place and had to leave so early in the morning. Defenetly recommend this place to others! Thank you very much!!
Jun 27, 2019Lulie & John we’re lovely and friendly. My friend and I felt as if we were visiting old friends. The home was charming as were the dogs and cats. I definitely recommend and hope to come back
Jun 27, 2019Great communication. "Amazing hosts"!
Jun 27, 2019Stayed at Lulie’s place for a few nights and it was such a great experience. Kylie and her husband were friendly and welcoming and listing was just as described. We loved the fresh breezy air flowing through the house and all the nature sounds! My sister said it was one of the best nights rest she’s ever had! Her pets were also friendly and cute, a definite bonus!
Jun 27, 2019We loved our stay at this quaint cottage nestled amongst a lush backdrop of vibrant trees and a peaceful view of the ocean. Lulie and John have put a lot of heart into this family-and-friend remodeled home and you feel it as soon as you arrive. The warm wooden planks, the way the soft light hits, the contrasting textures, color (Website hidden by Airbnb) all very cohesive with an authentic energy - oftentimes it's the vibe city shops and restaurants will aim for, but fall short on. The accommodations are very comfortable and cozy - it just feels like home. The peaceful yet highly amusing pets add an air of satisfaction as you enjoy your morning coffee on the porch outside. The hosts themselves are very personable, calm, and friendly -- sharing the space felt intuitive. They afford you plenty of privacy while also sharing pockets of companionship. I'd definitely stay here again, and leave with plenty of inspiration to model my future off of. Thank you, Lulie and John!
