Neighborhood Overview

The home is one mile from spectacular Kealakekua Bay where you'll find incredible silky smooth water with amazing visibility, beautiful reefs covered in coral and exotic tropical marine life including spinner dolphins. Kealakekua Bay (meaning "Pathway of the Gods") provides great ocean activities such as kayaking, world-class snorkeling, swimming, paddle boarding, surfing, and views of incredible Kona Coast sunsets. There are a few beaches nearby, all of which have a different vibe and focus: Manini, Ke'ei, 2 Step and Hookena. Located in historic Napoopoo and centrally located 20 miles from the town center of Kailua-Kona, nestled among nearly 70 mango trees and is adjacent to Kona's oldest coffee mill which offers local fruits and confections. It is centrally located, 90 miles from Volcano National Park and 60 miles from the Kohala Coast. We have many recommendations for day trips to Northern hikes and white sandy beaches or other Big Island Adventures. (see guidebook upon check-in)

Notes

- Hawaii Mandatory short-term occupancy tax collected at check-in (14.25%), but can vary slightly when the State raises taxes ~ The entire farm respects quiet hours 9pm- 8am, with no music and only quiet conversations during these hours because no one closes their windows in Hawaii :-) - The Mango Farm is a place for relaxation, restoration and re-charging ~ We are a working, organic mango farm with 65 mango trees and about 15 other types of fruit trees (permaculture, organic, korean natural farming practices), and we have extensive vegetable and herb gardens. We also make essential oils of lemongrass, tulsi, curry leaf, cinnamon, nutmeg, citrus, basil, catnip and many other botanicals. We make plant-based medicine and value-added products like moringa powder, mango chutney and tinctures from time-to-time, so let us know if you're interested in products we are making. ~ This rental is located on an Organic Mango farm and can have mosquitos, bugs, spiders and geckos/critters. Transit

Public transportation is not an option in this area. You'll definitely need to rent a car. Even though we are only 1 mile from Kealakekua Bay, it is down a windy road (400ft climb) without a shoulder, so not the ideal beach walk :-)

Access

There is a 7-foot cedar hot tub and a 6 person, state-of-the-art near-mid-far infrared sauna. Bathing suits are not allowed in the hot tub because it causes black mold, and we ask that you shower before entering (there's a beautiful, 2-person lava rock/jungle shower adjacent to the tub). Massages (multiple modalities) are available onsite for $100/hour. We offer Esalen, Deep Tissue, Chi Nei Tsang and Lomi Lomi. We offer CBD oil massages and sell CBD oil. We also offer comprehensive detox packages. On the property, there are variety of fruit trees, including 8 varieties of mango (~65 trees), 3 varieties of banana, 2 variety of avocado, coconut, moringa, papaya, tangelo, lemon, lime, tangerine, suriname cherry, ulu (breadfruit), figs, lilikoi (passionfruit), Hawaiian chili pepper, lemongrass, kafir lime, ginger, tumeric. As long as there's ripe fruit on the farm, we all bring you an assortment of fresh, ripe fruit and will replenish upon request. We apologize in advance if thin

The Mango Farm was a great place to stay on the big island. The mangos were delicious and the suggestions on local places to go and see were awesome! We would definitely go back!

We had a magical stay at the Mango farm. Heather is an incredible host and has created a little piece of heaven with this house. You can really feel that it has been put together with a lot of love. A wonderful spot to explore the Kona area from.

We did a lot of exploring the island but it was so nice to come back and relax at the Mango Farm. The place is a green oasis surrounded by luscious trees and colourful small birds. The place is what you would expect from the photos although more spacious and with all the amenities we needed and we were able to get great local suggestions, also it’s very close to Kealakekua Bay and lots of small coffee farms which we really enjoyed.

I will start by saying that our stay at this location was not planned in advance in any way whatsoever. Our flight from Kona got cancelled, and my husband and I needed to find a place to spend an extra night. After our marvelous stay at the Mango Farm Oceanview property, staying at a hotel was not even an option. So we reached out to the host, and voila- within one hour we were on our way to the Mango House, where a heated hot-tub was already waiting for us :) The communication with the host was as easy as it gets: they were extremely accommodating, to the point of driving to the property to confirm its cleanliness prior to our arrival (and that is at 9pm on a Friday night!). The house greeted us with calming sounds of the nature, bedroom hammock to relax, and breathtaking views of the stars. Staying at this location made our vacation even more memorable, and we don't dare complaining about the delayed return home for obvious reasons :)

The location and soundscapes were out of this world...especially when an afternoon shower rolled in! I loved waking up to the birds and enjoyed the time off the beaten path.

One of my favorite Airbnbs ever. The indoor/outdoor feel of the place, the light and airy interior, the fresh fruit, the sounds of nature that surround you all make this a gem of a spot. The host was incredibly helpful and responsive. The location was super private and serene — but still so close to some incredible snorkeling/hiking/eating spots. The house itself has such a wonderful sense of self and peacefulness to it, you can't help but feel like you're at home. This was one of the best choices I made when booking my trip to the Big Island.

Great place on an unique lot. Peaceful, quiet area with sounds local wildlife at night and great stargazing. Short drive to the Bay and close enough to Kona for dinner/shopping.

From the moment we pulled up to the house to the day we left I was in total awe of this place. The overall vibes make it feel just like home. Everything you could possibly need is available, no need to bring a thing. Fully stocked kitchen with pots, pans, nice big stove. The beds were all very comfortable, with amazing pillows. The massage chair was a huge bonus that we enjoyed every night. The property has beautiful trees, hanging in fruits. There are little chickens and a sweet duck that roam around too. If I could pack up and move here, I would. I highly recommend staying at the Mango Farm when when visiting. The location was also perfectly close to just about everything, including an amazing snorkle spot where we saw tons of turtles, eels and beautiful fish of all kinds. The hosts are the nicest people! I can't wait to come back!!!

We had an awesome stay at Mango Farm, the caretaker was very friendly and offered us with fresh fruits and tour of the farm. We enjoyed the spacious patio and nature of the place. But be prepared with mosquitos and geckos!

Great quiet place close to some of the best snorkeling on the island. Loved adventuring all day and coming home to the beautiful porch and hot tub. Heather is quick to respond to all messages and left a good guide to things in the area. The caretakers were kind and helpful. Lots of coqui frogs at night and roosters crowing in the morning. I liked it but if you are a light sleeper you may want to bring earplugs. Lovely place all around.

We have just thoroughly enjoyed 12 days in the Mango House. It’s a beautiful and comfortable home with a huge lanai, hot tub, sauna, outdoor shower and peek a boo ocean view through the lush foliage. The farm environment was perfect for us although the odd rooster confused a bright moon with dawn on occasion LOL. We found the location great with short drives to a grocery store, fruit stands, snorkel spots/beaches and excellent restaurants. Initially it felt like our neighbours were very close (we live on a ranch with a 1 mile access road to give you some perspective) however we found we had excellent privacy and minimal noise. Listening to the crickets, frogs and the waves on the shores below in the evening and at night was wonderful. Our hosts were great, very accommodating and anxious to ensure we had everything we needed. We had fresh fruit on arrival as well as more offerings half way through our trip. There is a great little stash of beach equipment we were free to use including snorkel equipment, chairs, cooler etc available on a first come basis. The beds were comfortable and linens were great. WiFi was excellent. Kitchen equipment, stove, fridge, dishwasher all great. We made fantastic smoothies everyday. For us, this was a perfect place to stay. Oh yes, the 2 friendly kitties were an added bonus along with a small supply of free eggs from free range wild chickens laid on the lanai. Avoid Gypsea Gelato - it’s addictive. You’ll end up scheduling your day trips around making sure you get to the Gelato place before 8.30pm LOL.

What can we say about The Mango Farm? This is an amazing property, and the caretakers were so generous and gracious with their time to show us around the farm and get to know this wonderful place. The location is so convenient for spending time at Manini Beach or the pier. The house itself is beautiful and appointed with everything you need, or could even want. We spent many happy hours on the lanai and soaking in the cedar hot tub, enjoying the relaxed vibe of the farm. We were sad to leave, but excited to come back as soon as we can.

A true gem!!! Beautiful, spacious spot in South Kona with stunning cedar hot tub enveloped by beautiful jungle-like plants. Very stylishly decorated with a zen decor and everything was super clean / spotless when we arrived. For those who like to cook, the kitchen is super equipped with everything you need. And for those traveling w/ babies like us, not only did they have a pack 'n play, but they also had a pretty baby-proofed spot (e.g. latches in kitchen cabinets) The owners also leave extensive local tips of things to do both nearby and for day trips -- don't miss Manini beach at sunset and we thought Kua Bay was also worth a day trip for a stunning beach. The only considerations would be that you have to drive almost everywhere from here since the main road nearby doesn't have sidewalks (true for a lot of the Big Island I think), and as others have noted the birds and roosters are pretty loud so bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Right now not too many plants are producing, but all the more reason to return soon :) Overall, a beautiful stay and we hope to be back.

This house was a really special place to stay on the big island. It is a beautiful home and really nicely decorated. The windows and lanai are aligned with the tree tops, so you feel like you are in a secluded jungle getaway. The hot tub was a wonderful way to spend the evening, relaxing and listening to the frogs and looking at the stars. We stayed between seasons on many fruits but we did enjoy some yummy papaya and a mango. It’s a farm, so we also had a friendly chicken come by and lay an egg on our outdoor couch! The care takers were very friendly, helpful and responsive.

Beautiful house on beautiful property. The caretakers Dawn and Paul were wonderful and made it feel very welcoming. The energy flow throughout the house was very relaxing. Easy access to rest of island yet can see stars at night while sitting in hot tub listening to the night wildlife. We will for sure come back in the future.

My husband, toddler and I just finished our stay at the Mango Farm, and we couldn’t have asked for a better time. It’s a unique property - so if you’re looking for a big home that is away from it all, this fits the bill. Our daughter (and us) loved the property cats, the chickens (one of whom laid eggs on our porch), and geckos (yes - they are harmless if you’ve never encountered them.) The hot tub was perfect for the evenings, and we never closed the porch doors because of the breeze. Dawn, Paul and Heather promptly answered all of questions - whether by message or when we saw them in person - and were gracious enough to leave us citrus and bananas. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils and anything you need to cook. We ate many meals at home, grocery shopping or getting take out in Captain Cook. We would absolutely come back and recommend the property.

A sweet spot in Captain Cook! It's a modest but cozy home complete with cool amenities like the beautiful hot tub and sauna ~ the porch area is like the picture ❤️. Paul and Heather were great communicators and very welcoming! We loved our tour of the mango farm and the fruit we got to taste! Beach and snorkel sights are nearby and they have gear available to borrow on a first come first serve basis. Pretty clean and very cozy atmosphere. We loved our stay!!!

The house is easy to find and close to Captain Cook Trail, which was high on our to-do list. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. We had a tour of the farm, and were given fresh fruit. The house is very clean, up to date and feels like home. I found the house to be super cozy with a great outdoor living area. I was sad to leave, and hope to come back soon! Bonus: Tea Cup the cat is a snuggle bug!
