Neighborhood Overview

Our farm is tucked away in the country. We like to think of our neighborhood as the "Hidden Hawaii" very few know about. It’s much less crowded and local than pretty much anywhere else on Oahu. The people are friendly, the beaches are clean and the surf is world class without the line-ups...

Notes

Things to do within 3 miles of campsite: - Surfing (yes, we have boards to rent) - Snorkeling - Hiking - SUP A little backstory... My wife and I bought Kapila Gardens in 2005. We planted 15 more mango trees which have grown nicely into large fruiting trees (most of them). Now our tropical food forest has some beautiful little nooks which we're excited to share as camp sites. Animals We have a milking goat that produces about a quart a day. We are open to selling this milk and allowing others to try their hand at (Website hidden by Airbnb) a cool experience! We also have dogs, cat and chickens (very free range). We mostly keep the dogs inside our home and let the cats roam outside. Who lives here Jason, Rasika (owners and husband and wife) have 2 girls 10 and 9. Rasika's mom also lives with us.

Transit

Bus stop is about 300 feet away. It's a great service that covers the whole island.

Access

Best place to stay. Jason and his family have created a special oasis in Hawaii. For a female traveler I felt so safe and taken care of. They were so welcoming and the atmosphere on the Orchard was superb. Glamping is the best - so comfy - quiet and away from the bustle. Woke up to amazing sunset rises in the east and the mountain view in the west. A girl couldn't have asked for anything more. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to get away from the commercialized hawaii and get into nature with a friendly and kind local flare!!! I don't have enough thumbs to put up for this place!!!

Not what you see in the pictures. Roaches and huge centipedes everywhere. The grounds are not maintained or groomed, when showering the people staying in a cabin can look right at you showering. Just not good

My daughter and I only had one day on the island. It was a great experience getting into the country and experiencing Hawaii in a different than the usual, "Tourist" kind of way. Jason was an excellent host and greeted us upon arrival. We got a tour of the property and our spot (way cooler than a hotel room). It was a cozy space for 2 people but cute and functional. We camped and loved the special touches with lighting, a private fire pit, and mangos hand picked and given to us from a tree right next to our tent. All of the things are needed to make it easy. Jason provided shampoo/conditioner, towels, wifi, and an outdoor shower & bathroom. Don't worry about bringing sleeping bags or your own sheets. That is included. We were given great local tips for dining and adventure. Dinner was good and the ocean 2 miles away was beautiful. Keep in mind, you are camping and it's a nice version of roughing it. You are camping in a mango orchard and there are a few farm animals on the property (chickens/roosters and goats). Roosters start announcing the new day long before sunrise. If you are a light sleeper, consider packing ear plugs. We really enjoyed our adventure. Thank you Jason!

A truly unique experience, we absolutely loved it! Very clean and accurate to the pictures. The family was so hospitable meeting us personally out the front and showing us the property. Thanks so much Jason and family!

This is a special place. It is like a good combination of camping and still have your own private area where you feel comfortable! The fresh fruits were super delicious and it is a really nice area to stay. It is not as busy as in other areas of the island. You can easily take the bus to almost everywhere on the island! The host are super friendly and helpful if you have any questions or if you need anything. I really would recommend it because it is a experience worth it!

This glamping site is amazing. I really enjoyed sitting on the chairs, reading. The wifi works great and it is a really nice touch. Jason and Rasika are extremely friendly and reactive. They care a lot about the well being of their guests. I stayed there 3 nights and they kept improving things so I can only guess how great it will be a month or year from now. I highly recommend it!

Jason's glamping place is a private tent at the end of his backyard / mango orchard. It's very cosy with a bed and some pillows, lawn chairs, your own BBQ, WiFi and electricity. The compost toilet and outdoor shower, as well as the common area / kitchen space, are located closer to the house. Jason is a great host, very accommodating and full of helpful tips about the area. Thanks!

This place is a gem for travelers wanting a friendly, beautiful, and peaceful Oahu stay. Right at the base of the mountains the views and hiking are great, and you can get easily into town for food, shopping and the beach! Jason and family are so welcoming and friendly and the mangos are delicious! Would stay again in an instant!

There was a beautiful place for chilling out with lovely welcoming host. The glamp site is perfect. The bathroom is ok. I rent a surfboard $10 per a day from Jason. It was a great experience surfing at Makaha beach that is 10min a way by a car. however you should watch out the sharp reefs; It was raining before I got there. So the path that lead you to the site was flooded. It was hard to walk on. But it was not a big deal. And be sure to bring your ‘bugs away’ if you don’t like any bugs. There was a lot of mosquitoes and more. But They have some stuffs if you don’t have; Anyway, I highly recommend to stay here if you like the outdoor experience! Mahalo!

Cozy tent space that came with pros and cons. Pros: cute tent, exactly what glamping is. Out of the city on the west coast which is very nice! Love the outdoor shower-nature at it's finest, and the hosts are very friendly. Bed was very comfortable and the air mattress was pretty great as well. Cons: 5 miles away from 2 active gun ranges and could hear the gun fire. Not super loud but you can hear it for sure. You are on a farm tons of wildlife and roosters around (if you're sleeping outside in Oahu you won't find a quiet sleep-not a biggie but just a note), the ant problem is huge- I live off grid in BC and don't experience nearly this big of insect issues. We packed all our food away but maybe this issue was from past campers who left the tent doors open? Since there wasn't just one or two, expect to have some small insects around you. When we arrived there was one camping tent set up on either side of us, (about 30 ft away) with people camping in them. So wasn't nearly as private as we were expecting. These people did leave the next morning. Thanks for hosting! The goats were really cool as well :)

This glamping situation was everything I'd want from an air mattress in a tent. The rain on the tent was really nice to fall asleep to, and the lights and wifi and patio made it all feel less like camping and more like a tiny room that was a tent.

Amazing spot out in country Oahu. We're not city people so we lived the location, only a few minutes drive from the beach and great hiking spots. would recommend having a car though, just makes things easier. The tent itself is really nice, very private and quiet at night. Jason and the family are amazingly welcoming, even located some still ripe mangoes for my mango obsessed girlfriend! 100% recommend.

I had a great time at Kapila Gardens! Jason and Rasika were so helpful and hospitable that it made me as a solo traveler feel so taken care of. The glamping space was so cute and fun and everything I expected it to be. The bed was super comfortable and I greatly enjoyed it. The community aspect of the whole property was a nice added touch I didn’t expect. Being able to meet other travelers and find cool ways to connect is something that was so unique. The first night I was here, I came back from having dinner in town and the family made a campfire in a fire pit and invited me to join. We roasted marshmallows, Jason had a guitar out, and it was just a really awesome way to set the tone for my stay. I got to talk to other guests and learn about the hosts. It was so nice! The mango I received from Jason ruined mangoes for me forever. Best mango I’ve ever had! I would absolutely love to come back to Kapila Gardens and spend more time with Jason, Rasika, and their lovely family.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kapila Gardens. The local area has a lot to offer and explore. Jason was a great host, checking us in seamlessly and giving us a thorough tour of the place. The tent was comfortable enough for two with all the amenities needed for a short stay. Keep in mind that you are glamping so you may need to deal with some bugs etc. but as long as you're prepared for that it's an amazing place to stay!

I slept really well in the glamping tent. The bed was comfortable and the tent was nice! Jason communicated well and gave me great tips on places to explore. The part I didn’t quite expect was how noisy the neighborhood was. I was expecting a sort of peaceful farm vibe, but it was more like camping in someone’s big yard. There were loud dog fights (it sounded like) from neighboring properties, music being blasted from neighbors, and the property itself is rough. I wouldn’t call it glamping. Im glad I got to see that part of the island, and glad the bed was nice, but I didn’t want to spend any time there relaxing as I expected I would. Overall I’d recommend it for a no-frills low-budget place to sleep immersed in a local neighborhood, but not for any kind of super relaxing nature vibes.

I have never been a camping type of person but still spent 3 weeks Glamping and think it is an incredible value for the level of comfort. The tent had a real bed with an awning overhead and a small patio with comfortable chairs making the arrangement very livable. A cooler was provided to store food items in with cooler packs available. Jason, Rasika, their daughters and extended family were very friendly and helpful. The outdoor shower and toilet although not fancy were functional and did the job. I can't thank them enough for providing an affordable option to experience paradise and would definitely consider staying again.

Better than I expected. Coolest camping experience. This accomodation is definitely a must. Quick replying and very hospitable host. Jason is willing to answer all my questions about the best places in Oahu. Location is quiet and in the more chill part of town which suits the laid back Hawaiin lifestyle. We had rented an expensive car for the one day for fun. Jason was able to make sure that it is parked in a safe area. The tent fits the definition of Glamping for sure - humble and chic. Highly recommended. Although they did provide the mosquito spray, I brought my own mosquito coils just in case. I am more prone to mosquito bites. But hey, Its camping - there will be bugs :) Overall, we wish we had stayed longer.

One of a kind experience, Jason and Rasika are really warm hosts, Jason has great knowledge about various great places to visit around. Highly recommended for anyone who loves nature and experience it the real way!! Please know that this is a tent amidst Mango plantation with compost toilet and a shower. Please read the description to know what to expect .

Before I leave a very positive review, here are the 3 negatives: 1. Check-out is at 8am (we noticed this last minute, unfortunately). 2. The mango “orchard” isn’t much of an orchard from what we experienced. Though we did get a few mangos upon arrival :) 3. EXTREMELY loud music in the middle of the night (12/29/18) that kept us up. Granted it was Saturday night of New Years week, so that was probably the reason for the loud music. But it was unexpected and did make our experience less enjoyable. That all being said.... This place is pretty cool. You are surrounded by beautiful Hawai’i cliffs in the country, with a very welcoming family there to greet you. The mini-yurt, as we deemed it, was nice and worth the price (arguably). Ultimately, it’s a lot cheaper than most places people stay on the island. As avid travelers/backpackers/campers, this stay was fair comparable to other places. We LOVE how environmentally-friendly Jason’s family is, and their place reflects that (e.g. be prepared to use a compost toilet). Great place, amazing family, few complaints, and a great time.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay here. The location kept us out of the super crowded spaces where tourists frequent and let us see a more rural and beautiful part of Oahu. Jason and his family were so welcoming when we got there and we didn’t see them again until we checked out so we definitely had our space (we were gone almost all day, everyday). We will be staying there again if we make another trip to Oahu and I would recommend it to anyone.

I did a day stay and it was fun and worth it for the price. Was able to bbq and hang with fam. It’s just like camping in the woods but in someone’s backyard. The set up for sleeping was very nice. There will be other glampers surrounding you on the property.

I absolutely loved Jason's place!!! It was very clean and welcoming. It is definitely a place for someone who is used to camping and loves the outdoors. I read other reviews of noise at night. I did not have this problem. I enjoyed the sound of country animals at night. I loved the outdoor shower. It was very refreshing after long, hot day. The bed was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend bringing a headlamp if you stay here. Mine came in handy at the night time when the path to the tent and bathroom were dark.

The camp site was the perfect home away from home while on my extended layover in Hawaii. Jason was extremely friendly, helpful, and flexible. The nearby fire pit was an awesome addition— my friend and I had a blast. Thanks again!

Jason and Rasika and charming and accommodating hosts. Their two girls are lovely as well. This was my first glamping experience and it’s made it difficult to go back to regular camping. The space was thoughtfully outfitted and extremely comfortable, I could have easily stayed for a month. The location is gorgeous and unassuming and perfectly located. Jason gave me insider tips on where to go for the best views and experiences and Rasika shared fruit from their trees. Their girls loved visiting my cat and are every bit the consummate hosts their parents are. A wonderful experience all around.

This place is a gem! My boyfriend and I stayed at the “glamping” site on their property, and it was lovely. We love to camp and enjoy the outdoors and this was a great option for that. There are animals and such on the property, and it was pretty windy when we stayed, but those were all things that are expected in the outdoors. The shower/bathroom area is very rustic but gets the job done. Would recommend for outdoorsy folks who want a unique stay!

Beautiful tent, great wifi, and really fresh linens. The best parts of my stay were sitting out on the zero gravity chairs and looking at the mountains and greenery of kapila gardens. Keep in mind that the toilet and shower set up isn't necessarily glamourous but is functional and kind of adds to the appeal of camping. The hosts were really great. They responded quickly and were very accommodating!
