Ayasophya house is located a short walk from the Hagia Sophia in picturesque and quiet street. The apartment is newly renovated. Very clean and comfortable. Metin is a charming host who answered all our demandes. We did not have the apartment is on the photo but it was resssemblant and I was not disappointed. I recommend this apartment, ideal for a pleasant stay in Istanbul.
Jun 27, 2019Metin was great. I had arranged to have him pick me up at the airport. My flight was 2 hours late but someone was there when I arrived. The place was just as listed in Airbnb. It was nice and modern. I don't think the location could have been any better. It was on a cobblestone street about a one to 2 minute walk to Hagia Sophya. Also quite close to the blue mosque and not too far to walk to Taksin Square and the Grand Bazaar. He answered all of my questions and even responded to an email late because I had lost his address and needed it to get home. Also, he, himself, got up to take me to the airport at 5 am. I head back to Istanbul in 3 days and am hoping to stay with him again.

Jun 27, 2019The location of this place is AMAZING. It looks over the water and main and best part of Old Town, but the entrance is opposite of the crowds and is in a cozy alley. The best of both worlds. The building is 500-600 years old and the room was so charming with a canopy bed and huge tub. And the room had AC!!! Also, there is a very large, communal room, garden area, and rooftop. No other guests were ever there when we used it--all to ourselves. The host, Metin, is very kind. Highly recommend this place!

Jun 27, 2019This apartment is great base to explore Istambul! The location is fantastic, the flat is clean, beds are comfortable and Metin and his family are always available to assist you with anything you need, at any time (including moving furniture!). We felt safe and relaxed during all our stay. The only issue is that the flat might get a bit noisy for some people (we could hear other guests both in the building and from the street), but it was never until very late, so we had a good sleep anyway. Very much recommended!
Jun 27, 2019We couldn't have found a better accommodation for our weekend in Istanbul. The house is in a nice and quiet location by the Gulhame park, yet just a few hundred metres away from Sultanhamet, very close to the tram line, restaurants and other services. The house is tiny but it worked well for us (a couple traveling with a toddler). Our kid was excited to sleep on the couch but Metin also offered a baby bed. We found all the logistic support we could wish for by the building staff, and we only wish we could have stayed longer and had more time to connect with the owners. We will definitely come back and recommend this place.
Jun 27, 2019This place was the best! Situated in a great part of town just steps from the major sites Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Cisterns, and Grand Bazaar. Unit was exactly as the pictures, quaint and cozy. Loved that just outside the door was a cafe.
Jun 27, 2019I can only echo what other guests have said, Metin was an excellent host for our 5 night stay, and very helpful in advice on the City attractions and things like arranging an airport transfer as we were nervous arriving in a new City after dark. The appartment and the location is as described - a historic building on Soguk Cesme street - part of the walls around the Topkapi Palace - so central that the entrance to Gulhane Park with its Archaeological Museum is at one end of the street, and Hagia Sophia further up the slope. The 'Blue Mosque' is no more than 5 minutes walk, whilst trams (to the metro/Airport connections or to Galata) and the main rail station and ferry routes (for Marmary/crossing to Asia side) are also extremely close. The area is served by abundant restaurants and cafe's and we were able to experience the sights and sounds of the historic centre of Old Istanbul at our leisure, without needing to worry about long journeys to and from our accomodation. There was a little noise from the cafe outside the appartment, but certainly not enough to trouble us after many full days exploring the City we slept soundly each night! My daughter and I would certainly go back and Metin's ayasofya house would be our first choice location!

Jun 27, 2019Notre hôte nous assuré un transfert privé de l'aéroport à l'appartement. Nous étions attendus à notre arrivée. L'appartement est très cosy tel que décrit dans l'annonce propre et confortable (nous étions 2 adultes et 2 enfants). Il est très très bien situé à côté de la plupart des grands monuments (ayaSophia, mosquée bleue, Palace Topkapi, Parc Gulhane, Bazar Arasta, ...) station tramway à proximité ainsi que beaucoup de restaurant, café et boutique souvenirs et artisanat. Nous avons adoré la ville et surtout la proximité de l'appartement de tous les monuments historiques. Notre hôte nous a également assuré le transfert à l'aéroport au retour. Si je reviendrai un jour à Istanbul je prendrai certainement le même logement.
Jun 27, 2019Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'accueil très sympathique de Metin malgré notre arrivée tardive. Pour nous faciliter la vie durant notre séjour, il nous a prêté sa carte de transports en commun (tram, métro, bus, bateau-bac) que nous n'avons eu qu'à recharger de temps en temps. Et puis, évidemment, ce qui était extrêmement appréciable était la localisation de l'appartement adossé aux remparts du palais Topkapi, à 100 mètres de Sainte-Sophie, à 300 mètres de la Grande Mosquée bleue et à vingt minutes à pied du Bosphore. C'était magique. Des restaurants de toutes sortes étaient également très proches.
Jun 27, 2019Metin was great. Really helpful and friendly. Good contact beforehand and helped arrange the early morning airport taxi on our way out. Flat was perfect... very clean and well kept. We were with our 2 small children (4 &1) and everything was just as described. Great neighbourhood. Locals very friendly and a 2 minutes from Ayra Sophia and the centre but a quiet and secluded pedestrianised road (although a taxi can still get to it outside of peak times which is handy). Recommended very highly as a perfect bolt hole for a short visit.

Metin est un très bon hôte ainsi que son neveu qui prenait la peine de venir nous saluer tous les matins (il a un commerce juste en bas de l'appartement). Nous avons été bien accueilli et je recommande vivement cet endroit près de pas mal de sites touristiques. Si je repars à Istanbul, je reprendrais cet appartement.

Jun 27, 2019I booked Metin apartment for my parents whom were visiting Istanbul for the 1st time, It couldn't have been much better experience for them with Metin hospitality, help, and quick response, the apartment was so clean, not to mention its perfect location in the middle of the historical city, they actually felt at home. I do recommend it so much for single or couple travelers.
Jun 27, 2019If you are coming to Istanbul to visit some of its must-visit-places, then this is the best place to stay at. Amazing location, located exactly behind Hagia Sophia and sharing the same wall with Topkapi Palace. It's located in one of a historical and famous street in Sultanahmet called Soğukçeşme (you even can find it in Wikipedia). A very decent and safe neighborhood. 24/7 there will be polices and security guards in the neighborhood, given that it is in the museum, historical and touristic area. We were given the bigger room with no extra charge. You definitely can explore Sultanahmet area (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Gulhane Park, Basilica Cistern, etc) simply by walking, even it's closer than the famous hotel you can find in the area. We (me and wife) loved this place so much! We stayed there comfortably. Highly recommended. Metin was a very kind and good host. Communication was quick and simple. He helped us a lot, such as providing and fixing an electricity plug converter, lent us a temporary simcard, and also his nephew who happened to work in the cafe besides the place was really helpful. Please note, that Sogukcesme street is only for pedestrian most of the time. I think its only at late night up to early morning, cars are allowed to pass. Also, you need to climb up to the house a little bit through the stairs (from the entrance of the house), which was just one floor up. So with these, if you have a lot and big luggages, you might want to consider this. We personally had quite big luggages with us, it wasn't that big deal, since it just happened once during the checkin and Haroon (Metin's nephew) and Metin himself helped us carrying the luggages up to our room. At night, we did hear some music played from the cafe next to the house like what other reviewers said, but it was not a disturbance to us at all. Overall, fantastic place and host! We loved it and will definitely be back.

Jun 27, 2019Location is good for sightseeing, but shops and restaurants are expensive in this area. Very clean place with nice big windows. Hosts are lovely people. We stayed on the third floor and there was no wifi at all in our place. Walking distance to Gulhane tramway station, to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque. Iron is on request.

Jun 27, 2019Metin's apartment suited us (my girlfriend and me) perfectly. Reviews are always so subjective but we found the accommodation was fine - for our needs. It scores really well in terms of location. It is almost literally on the doorstep of the big tourist attractions and not onerously far from Eminonou and Beyoglu if you want a change from Sultanhamet. I'd have no difficulty in returning.

His home is very close to several of the main tourist sites in Istanbul and near a tram stop to get you anywhere else you would need to go. I recommend using his service to get you to and from the airport if you have big bags because it actually is less expensive than hiring a taxi and the driver was very kind. Overall, Istanbul was a great experience for my friend and me and I highly recommend you stay at any of Metin’s places.

Jun 27, 2019This has been my favorite experience with Airbnb ever! Metin’s place was in the perfect location for us to see everything we wanted in the short amount of time we had. We had four people in the place and never felt cramped or uncomfortable. It was truly perfect and with AC! We got in to Istanbul at around 3 am and was worried we wouldn’t be able to get in, but Metin’s family was there to greet us and help us get in quickly and comfortable. Metin’s nephews Kemal and Harun were amazing and treated us like family. The Airbnb is the location they grew up in and the location of their business, Gülhane Sur Café. The cafe is just as cute as the Airbnb. This is the spot to be in Istanbul! And if I could recommend it to every person visiting, I absolutely would!

They’re very nice people who even make arrangements with you to provide you a safe pick up from the airport. Unfortunately I fell ill and my family and I had to make some changes on our travel plans. We’re grateful with their hospitality!
Jun 27, 2019The apartment is in a perfect location right next to the Hagya Sofia and built into the walls of the Topkapi palace. There is a little street noise, but it's lovely and atmospheric. We slept well, the shower is good and the air conditioning in the bedroom. We were out most of the day and appreciated being so central to come back to rest. Metin is around to ask questions and also his brother has the shop down stairs and is very helpful. Thank you

The location of thid apartment is just superb. not only is it right next to the key attractions at sultan ahmet, it is also a 2 min walk to the tram station Gulhanay on the main line. This makes it super convenient to also visit the Dolmahbace Palace and to get to the ferry for the Prince's Islands. it's a bit of a climb, albeit a 2 min one, on a pedestrian only street, so travel light. Also, take the airport transfer shuttle that Metin offers to book for you. very very convenient and pretty much the same price as a taxi from the airport. thanks Metin!

Jun 27, 2019Great location. Right in the centre of the tourist district. However, the place was overpriced. The apartment was poorly furnished. It did not have have a lamp, only harsh overhead lighting. The furniture is old, the decor drab. The whole place needs a revamp. In addition, it is very noisy. There is a cafe next door that plays music late into the night, every night. There is construction next door that carries on every day and into the night, including weekends.
