Marylove's quaint hale is a treasure! We enjoyed the luxury of the upscale cleanliness of this newer home as well as the large sunken bath. The kitchen is huge with a very large fridge and excellent new stove. It is easy to walk to black sand Kahena beach from here and the neighborhood is quiet and full of very interesting homes. The rocky coastline and palm tree's lend to taking photos. Ourdoor lanai space has cozy couches to have some quiet time with a breeze. I really love this place and will certainly come again! Mahalo Marylove! You are the most gracious host. Your smile is like a ray of sunshine for a tired traveler!
Jun 27, 2019I was very comfortable and felt quite welcome. I really liked the opportunity to use the kitchen to prepare my own breakfast and late night sandwiches. I was quite thankful that I was able to use WiFi to watch the semi-finals of the World Cup Soccer tournament. Using the cables on hand I was even able to plug in the computer to the large TV screen in the living room. I closed the blinds and watched hours of soccer over the course of 2 days with excellent quality. I know that the WiFi was also able to perform well for other tasks even while I was streaming the video. It really rocked to have ATT wireless in and around the house. Another outstanding benefit was the large selection of healing services in the area. I was able to select from a long list of massage therapists and the provider came to the house for the session I booked. The bodywork was excellent and it was so nice to be able to just relax at the house after the treatment This is a great place to stay centrally located in a fabulous area. Mary Love is a wonderfully warm host and happy to share her vast knowledge of Hawaiian culture and history and the many attractions on Hawaii Island. I'm definitely looking forward to returning to the area and hopefully there will be space available at Hale Puulena.
Jun 27, 2019Mary Love's home is one of the most relaxing and inviting spaces I've had the privilege to experience. Located in a quiet, cool area, the only surrounding noise is provided by nature. The community in this area is very tight knit, open and welcoming. Every gathering we explored was full of warm people who were full of stories and hospitality. Though located in a very rural area, most of the modern conveniences we are accustomed to are available, such as top notch appliances, comfy furniture and internet (if you have time to use it after all the community events). There are so many interesting places nearby to visit that I wish I had booked more time for my trip! This island is quite large in comparison to the others, and I found it very helpful to be staying in an area closer to many of the natural attractions around the island than either of the developed cities. The Big Island is unique in that there is very little light from the ground at night (by street lights and the like), which allows an immersion into activities like stargazing and just being present with the environment around us. I will definitely be returning :)
Jun 27, 2019The only thing lovelier than Hale Puulena is the heart of our host, Mary Love. She is a kind and generous soul, sincerely interested in our joy and well-being. We felt nourished and peaceful as we relaxed in her tasteful, elegant, comfortable home. The journey to Hale Puulena sets the tone as one travels the mystically beautiful red road, passing rich lava beds, enchanted tree tunnels, hanging jungle vines, extraordinary plant life, and the ocean that beats wildly at the Lower Puna coast line. The Seaview neighborhood, where the home is located, is easily accepting of new visitors, making one feel welcome and at home. There is an instant feeling of tranquility, supported by the sounds of nature, gentle breezes, and the vibrant star filled sky at night. The home itself is recently renovated, sporting all the amenities that one would expect of a luxury property, but at an affordable price. It allowed us to take advantage of the restorative Kalani spa, the warm ponds, magical Wai'opae tide pools, stunning Mackenzie State park, charming farmer's markets, and various other natural wonders and delights. This place is ideal for those that want to get off the beaten track, relax, and take in paradise at a slow and leisurely pace. Get ready to fall in love and return to harmony.

Jun 27, 2019Mary Love is an AMAZING host. She is the icing on the cake. The house is modern and immaculate. The house it set up in a way that the guest has their private bathroom and space. Everything you could need is provided. Towels, sheets, info books, wi-fi. Shower pressure is great, along with the solar living makes one feel better about life. The view is epic, the house is near a park and the infamous Seaview lawn is within walking distance. Take a stroll to watch the whales, or a short drive a wonderful retreat where you can soak in the saunas and hot tubs. Or drive a it further and hit up the blacks sands beach, or warm ocean pools. You really can't go wrong, and unlike some jungle rentals, this rental is in a drier location. Don't pass this up and go breath all the ALOHA this spot has to offer!
Jun 27, 2019Its a very beautiful place with a nice patio to relax and watch the sunrise from. Marylove and mimi were excellent hosts and I would definitely go there again. Her place is very close to the Red road (beautiful scenic drive) and if you get a chance be sure to attend the farmers market a short drive away to look at their interesting fare. Its about an hour drive from Volcano national park, but you can see the latest lava flows near the town of Pahoa which is a short drive away.
Jun 27, 2019It was a wonderful experience staying at Lava flow private room. The house is located in a very peaceful neighborhood and offers you the amenities of a resort. Really wanna appreciate the way Mary love has maintained it. It's indeed very beautiful and the host has tried to provide all facilities that make you feel totally at home. We could not meet Marylove as she had gone out on a vacation her self but she had ensured that we be greated well and made provision of everything that a guest would probably need. Would really wish to stay there again.
Jul 27, 2019Marylove's house is beautiful. Everyone in my family was impressed. Marylove provided fruits, bagels and yogurt and we enjoyed having our breakfast on the lanai. We even wish we could have something similar set up at our own house. There are lots of "hidden" attractions close by that is not crowded. We felt like that we were touring like the locals instead of tourists. Marylove provided beach gears and sand toys so we could get the full experience. One thing that is impressive about Marylove is that she is unbelievably responsive. Almost every time I sent her a message, I got her reply right away! Since we stayed at two different houses (the other in Kailua Kona) during this trip and the beds at the other house were not very comfortable, I think it is important to mention that the beds at Marylove's house were very comfortable. Everyone loved Marylove's house and her service and we would definitely book her house for our next trip.

Jun 27, 2019This is the perfect base camp from which to explore the Big Island and especially Puna, Volcanos and south east! Marylove is wonderfully gracious and provides the perfect sanctuary to recharge. The house is immaculate and feels better than the pics. Not only is it a perfect home base but one can also easily be a peace reading on the porch. Never slept better... rain on the roof at night.. Hawaii sun in the day. I doesn't get much better. And Marylove is the perfect ambassador to such a paradise - caring, giving and wonderfully helpful with little secrets of the island... Big Aloha to you Marylove and see you on the next one!!! :)))

Jun 27, 2019Best airbnb accommodations we have yet encountered! An amazingly comfortable, upper scale home with top of the line appliances and furniture, tastefully decorated with a real Hawaiian flair, spotlessly clean, quiet and relaxing. Perfectly situated for exploring the southeast Puna coastline and only a few minutes drive from the lovely black sands Kehena Beach (clothing optional), tidal pools (with terrific snorkeling), and several other magical spots. Then there is Marylove! An incredibly lovely and wonderful hostess. Friendly, engaging, a font of information regarding the island, and extremely generous with providing advice and suggestions, as well as maps and guidebooks to help find activities and places to go, but also gives you all the space you need. Can't say enough about Marylove and her terrific facilities, although think we might already have, as we don't want the rates to go up too much before our next visit. Aloha and Mahalo

Jul 27, 2019Mary Love was awaiting the birth of her grandchild so I did not meet her person. Her responses were expedient though! I could feel the warmth through her words! The house was exquisitely beautiful! She has great taste! When I walked into her home, I immediately felt relaxed and nurtured! I was surrounded by greenery and beautiful art. This sacred space was the ultimate retreat experience! My mother and I enjoyed it immensely! I will cherish the experience forever! A treasure indeed.

Your own bathroom and the hole house are very clean too. You will spend most time out on the lanai which is huge and perfect for reading or whatever. Would go back at any time Mike

She was unbelivably helpful in pointing us in the right direction let it be for a tourist spot or the best place to buy fish in town. She was a leo great in pointing out local off the beaten path spots instead of the big touristy ones. We have now made a friend for life and look forward to seeing her again.

This area of the Big Island has such a wonderful laid back charm and style and there was so much to do. Marylove provided snorkel gear, boogie boards, maps, advice and such an insiders perspective that we always knew what to do and when to do it! Jun 27, 2019The house is very nice, with a nice relaxing outdoor area - in a very quiet area at the South-West corner of Big Island. We have stayed a couple of days and have enjoyed the location. While this is remote location, there are few things to go and see there (with less tourists than any other areas :-)).

Each detail you feel in the room are carefully considered by Mary. The stars are so beautiful outside the house in the evening. Jul 27, 2019Marylove was absolutely wonderful. We were running very late, as we stayed too long in Kona after our flights arrived, and we didn't get to Marylove's house until way after dark. She was so gracious and inviting. Her home is beautifully decorated with such a warm feeling and so relaxing. We could not have asked for a better place to spend our first four nights on Hawaii.

Everything about her home is relaxed and comfortable, and I felt at home from the moment I stepped through the door. Marylove is full of loving and positive energy, and is an all-around amazing host. My time in Hawaii was more memorable because of Marylove, and I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to stay with her!

She told us great spots to go to we wouldn't have known of otherwise, provided us with gear (mountain bikes, headlights, snorkeling equipment), and was overall super friendly. The neighborhood was very close to some great spots and Volcano was accessible from there. It was close to Pahoa village for supplies and a range of places to eat....all up a great experience. Jun 27, 2019We spent 6 wonderful days here! The location is great: 10 minutes away from the end of hwy130 for the lava flow viewing, and 15 minutes away from the Issac Hale Park, the warm tide beach. We could find everything you need in the place, and the design and decoration is amazing. Marylove is a great host: we didn't meet her until the last day of our stay - because of Christmas season - she provided useful information for check-in and our stay, and can be easily reached via inbox mail. Would definitely recommend this place!
Jul 27, 2019Wow! This place is an amazing deal! Close to the ocean, so close you can smell it in the air. Easy going, Aloha style neighborhood. The local town is a short drive away, Pahoa, which is rich with surfer culture and basic needs. Mary Love's place is a short walk from whale watching and beaches. Her place offer all the basic needs and so much more. Like a fullly stocked kitchen & beautiful comfortable beds that make you feel like Royalty. A great outdoor area that holds space for that deep relaxation feel. Close by are so many amazing spots that its easy to keep busy exploring. MaryLove was exceptional in helping us find where things are and when special events are happening. Her personality is very relaxed & positive & she is an exceptional hostess. Best instructions for using everything like switches and so forth, lots of things are labeled. We can all appreciate clarity. Overall the best priced for value place in Hawaii.

Very nice host, flexible and understanding, gave us tips and indications all with a big smile on her face. The property is in a quiet area, the house is very nicely decorated and gives you the feeling of peace and spirituality. Highly recommend this accommodation for any kind of travelers be it couples or friends traveling together. We will surely miss it.
Jun 27, 2019Majestical is all one can say for our restful stay at Mary Love's abode. The house offers a perfectly peaceful retreat. The location is fantastic. It is close to black sand beaches, the lava flow, fresh markets, warm pools, tide pools and Kalani retreat center. The room was immaculate and Love provides all things you didn't even think to bring. The house is fully stocked with all the fun extras. Mary Love is also an experienced host and is knowledgeable of happenings in the area. She is welcoming, available, gracious and unobtrusive. I would not hesitate to book a room, or the apartment. We were also thrilled to use the Sondors electric bikes on the beautiful red road for an experience of a lifetime. Mahalo Mary Love!!!!

Notre famille a été accueillie avec amour et générosité. Les enfants ont adoré chercher des lézards et jouer avec les jeux de société.
