Neighborhood Overview
The Sheung Wan neighbourhood is ever changing and a fantastic mix of "old' and "new" Hong Kong. This apartment is located in the heart of Hong Kong's commercial, cultural and shopping districts and within short walking distance to the subway and HK Macau Ferry Pier. A few minutes walk away from the harbour front and the fantastic Sun Yat Sun Memorial Park and Public swimming pool over look the world famous Victoria Harbor.
Notes
Once you arrive in Hong Kong, everything is quite simple and all starts with a call from the FREE phones at the airport located in the hall immediately after you pass through baggage customs. There is also a Visitors Center there if you would like to pick up some maps, local travel guides, etc. to read on your way to the apartment. If you need a local SIM card, there is a 7-11 in the middle section of the main arrival hall where they see all types of SIM cards, I usually prefer the PCCW brand as it is the larges local operator.
Transit
Buses, Trams, Minibuses and taxis all run right out side the building all conveniently taking you through Central and all other parts of Hong Kong like Causewaybay, Wan Chai, the exhibition center and beyond.

This is a Strictly NON SMOKING Flat. UPON ARRIVAL AT PROPERTY, ALL GUESTS MUST WAIT FOR ME AT THE FRONT GATE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING. BUILDING RESIDENTS WILL COMPLAIN TO PROPERTY MANAGEMENT IF THE LOBBY AREA INSIDE BUILDING IS BLOCKED. THANKS FOR YOUR KIND UNDERSTANDING FOR AN ENJOYABLE STAY. Check in time is AFTER 12:30 pm. Make sure to contact us by phone at least 30 minutes prior to arrival such that we can meet you at the flat to hand you the keys and acquaint you to the surroundings. As this is a family business, please try your best to arrive at the apartment as early as possible. After 11:30pm as transport to the apartment is limited for us, we have to charge HKD150 to cover our taxi transport cost to and from the apartment. We are generally exhausted at the end of the day and we really would rather you arrive early and not have to charge this. Guests must wait for us OUTSIDE the building upon arrival and not enter the building without us as this causes unnecessary misunders

We had a great stay here in early August, 2014. Air-conditioned and on the eleventh floor (with an elevator) and heaps of natural light. There are actually views past a neighbouring apartment building to the harbour and part of Kowloon. The apartment was quite small, but for a couple who spent a lot of time out and didn't cook at all it was perfect for our needs. Hosts were lovely and very helpful with suggestions on directions, restaurants and bars nearby. Upstairs is a small terrace area with space for washing, and probably a pleasant space to sit — although during our visit the weather didn't really suit. Most important during August, there is *very* efficient air con. It's a roughly 10-minute walk from the nearest train station, but buses and trams stop directly outside and arguably make for a more interesting journey — they're super cheap, too.

Jun 27, 2019The appartment was great! It is composed of one main room with a small kitchen and one small bedroom. The space was a bit small for 3 people but had all the amenities we could wish for. Its location is perfect, just 10-15 minutes walk from Central or 5 minutes by tram. Brendan gave us all the necessary information and arranged for a smooth check-in. He also gave us lots of tips about Hong Kong and the tourist attractions not to miss before we got there :)

Jun 27, 2019This was our first experience with airbnb and my first visit to Hong Kong; I sent numerous emails with lots of questions and Brendan always replied promptly and with a lot of information. Directions to the apartment were clear, including the helpful suggestions to call from the free phone at the airport and print out the address in Chinese (our taxi driver did not speak (Website hidden by Airbnb) we got there late at night ,and everyone was tired, met Veronica ( Brendan's mum)+ her assistant briefly;both were very friendly. Apartment was as described, bigger than expected and at the back of the building; second bedroom separated by bathroom from main area , so suitable for 3 people. Bed was very comfortable; view to water through window underneath aircon,so did not feel boxed in. I expected it to be noisier than it was, 2 busy freeways between flat and water, but relatively quiet with windows closed. Other residents were very quiet and no neighbours above; I am a light sleeper, so noise is an issue.All the basics were there;really appreciated things like a converter plug + iron (we were there for a wedding)and very good Wifi. Loved the area: dried fish and herbal medicine shops close by, as well as swimming pool ; tram and buses in the street and you can easily walk to Central, mostly via walkways. very easy to find your way back when walking as the Ibis Hotel is very close and has a big sign high up! Direct fast bus to airport 5 min walking distance( found it by accident)-cheaper and quicker than train and taxi- Brendan will leave info for future guests.A pity we did not get to meet Brendan; we were there for a short time + had a busy programme.

Jun 27, 2019Brendan's apartment was a great experience. Checking in was smooth and communication was prompt and excellent. The rooms are small, the room with the second bed begin large enough just for the bed, but its the perfect size for 2 people, would be tight for 3 people. Bathroom was comfortable with hot water. I thought the location was superb, in a non touristy area of Hong Kong, 10 min walk to downtown/metro. The food around the area is just excellent, with a local style dim sum place right across the street. I'm talking traditional, affordable, sitting at tables squished with strangers, and elderly ladies rolling carts of delicious food kind of dim sum. Unfortunately I do have to mention one negative aspect of the room. We were not aware that you could hear the elevator every time it was in use. The elevator created this loud rumbling heard from both rooms that did not allow myself or my fellow traveling partner to have any good night sleep for the 5 nights we stayed. Its unfortunate cause other than the elevator, it was quite a lovely stay. All amenities provided including a converter. If you are a heavy sleeper or plan on waking up early/being out most of the days, this apartment is a great choice. -Thanks

Jun 27, 2019The host was very easy to communicate with. The apartment was as described, with the main bedroom and a smaller side room that my friend slept on. Very convenient location. The only downside is that the elevator is quite loud in the mornings and the apartment has a slight tremble during the afternoon, I think due to commuter train traffic. We stayed at the apartment for 4 nights--it more than sufficiently served our needs. The apartment is well situated to public transportation, with many buses stopping right in front, as well as Central Station only being about a 10-min walk away.

Je n'ai vu que de pauvres habitats en tôles comme il en existe malheureusement encore beaucoup sur les toits des buildings de Hong Kong !

Jun 27, 2019Brend's flat in Sheung Wan was centrally located, clean and well-maintained. It is close to the new MTR which opened, Sai Ying Pun, which made it easy to get around. Checking in and out was also a breeze! I loved that Brend left a blue book with tips on good food and great places to see---we tried some of these restaurants and they were indeed spot on. Would definitely stay in one of his places again.

The place was just as pictured and is located in a great area--very easily accessible to public transportation, markets, and night life. The apartment was a joy to stay at and I would stay again if I come back to Hong Kong!

I wasn't happy with the place that I booked in the first place and Brend , fortunately, switched it to this place for me. The host responded to my request very fast in general and he tried to help me a lot while I'm staying there. He is good host and the place is a bit small but cozy and has a good view.

It is small, but cosy and has everything you need for a longer stay in Hong Kong. Communication was very good and we were received well. The area is nice, close to a lot of public transport and nice restaurants, both local and international. Because the apartment is at the back of the building, it is very quiet!

Small, but cozy. Location was perfect. Brend was always quick to respond and made sure our stay went smoothly!
Jun 27, 2019Good location and great price for the budget traveler. Suitable for couples or small family with one young child (under 14). There is a nice 'sliver' of a view from the main window to the harbor. The apartment is located on the edge of several neighborhoods - you can walk, tram, bus or metro to so many places! Our main issue would be the same as many of the other guests have already mentioned - the elevator was very noisy particularly very early in the morning!
Jun 27, 2019It was a clean, well furnished apartment which was as described. Brend was always helpful and quick in replying to emails which made planning the trip much easier. The extra single room is pretty small but was excellent for us as we could put a portable cot for our baby and we could still have lights on and chat in the main TV/bed area while he slept. Check-in and check-out were easy and straightforward too. Brend - thanks for a great stay.

Jun 27, 2019Host was unresponsive for ~2 hours at previously agreed upon check-in time; when he eventually showed up at the flat to let me in, he was rushed and thus provided us with the wrong information for the Symphony of Lights show so we missed it. Upon check-in, it was noticed that the cable TV did not work. It was fixed the next day. In the middle of our stay, the main light went out. It took two days to fix. On our second to last day, the host's assistant entered the unit while we were there, without knocking. She thought we checked out already, but apparently, had us mixed up with another unit. Each of these situations were brought up to the host; with the exception of the assistant entering w/o knocking, the host was unapologetic, if anything, curt and borderline rude. The flat is very convenient to the bus stop; however, the MTR is a bit of a walk. Lots of dried seafood shops and some eateries nearby.
Jun 27, 2019We were met by Michelle who helped us with our luggage and she settled us in. The apartment was just as we expected it. Clean, neat and a very comfy bed. The location was great with local transport on the door step, the metro down the road and interesting restaurants close by. The only drawbacks, which no one can control, were the steep stairs up to the next floor at the elevator level, the smelly fish smell outside and the noisy elevator motor going all hours of the night. Jun 27, 2019After using Airbnb for over 300 nights in the past 3 years, this is my first review. This is the second time that we stayed at one Brend's properties and we had the same experience of having to wait for an inappropriately long time for the host to provide access in both stays. The problem is clearly a common one, based on our experience and reading other customer reviews. After being made to wait outside in the rain for our first stay, we were careful to make precautions with her to ensure that this would not occur again.....and yet despite our best laid plans the long delay happened again. Even more infuriating, in both instances, the host was upstairs in the apartment waiting for us to arrive!! Unfortunately, despite advising the host that we didn't have roaming coverage in HK , so had no means to call to say that we had arrived, and after calling from the free phones at the airport and providing very accurate arrival times at the property, the host in both cases waited upstairs whilst we were left outside in the cold and rain. The arrival process is the most important interaction with the host and in both cases it was entirely botched, through at best a breathtaking display of absent mindedness or perhaps worse, a complete lack of guest care. We travel to HK frequently and I would not recommend staying at any one of Brend's multiple properties, unless you were prepared for a long long long wait outside of the property.

Jun 27, 2019Brend's room was really clean and cozy. Everything is prepared so you just need to go and have fun there. :) 쟉지만 리녠 등이 매우 꺌끔햬요. 주인이량 연략을 해아만 들어갈 슈 있어셔 홍콩 심카드가 엾으면 쳐음에 들어가기고 여럽고, 작은 뱡은 침대가 녀무 작아셔 180 이샹인 사럄은 먆이 뷸펀할 거에요. 계속해서 옐리볘이터 쇼리도 들리구요.
Jun 27, 2019Host was very welcoming, met us and showed us anything and everything we might need in the flat. It was very clean, and well organized, great amenities such as Toiletries, Air Conditioners in each room and portable Heaters. Location was the best, within walking distance and near all forms transportation and different types shops, etc. open and running 24/7. *Tip: For the Night Gate/Door lock, turn the key counter clockwise. We were not the only people staying at the building that had problems unlocking it.

Jun 27, 2019We highly recommend this place. The apartment bright and friendly, and has everything visitors need. From the main window you can even see the harbor. The location is fantastic: on Hong Kong island, mere steps from bus and tram stops, across the street from the Wellcome food market, and a block away from the MTR's Island Line. The host was great, both responsive and friendly. We were met at the door, and shown all amenities. A minor note is that the apartment is fantastic, but small. It's a good base for exploring Hong Kong, not a venue in and of itself for leisurely relaxation. The photos are very accurate, and there isn't a square centimeter more than what's pictured. We thought of it as "cozy and compact" in a very Hong Kong way, and good value for money.

Jun 27, 2019Brends place is well situated & a decent space for HK apartments. However, the actual pictures to what you walk into are 2 totally different things. The furniture isn't even laid out the same on the pictures. And clearly the pics are a couple years old when everything was new. Now, everything is well dated. Not much of a rooftop... & despite its high floor, you hear the lift running irrespective of which floor it's on. Light sleepers take note. As well as no black out drapes... so vast amounts of light is exposed in the room by sunrise. Great wifi Late host by 40 minutes whom did not have the courtesy to let me know.
Jun 27, 2019Be aware that construction is always happening in Hong Kong. The apartment is adjacent to a construction project so there was noise 24/7. Absent this nuisance, my friend & I enjoyed our stay. The apartment is close to the metro line of Sai Ying Pun (make a right out of apartment, cross the street, find Eco Tree Hotel, and there's the entrance). We found some good, inexpensive restaurants (hole in the (Website hidden by Airbnb) was a 30 second walk and catered to the locals (it was our favorite) (head toward Ibis Hotel and it is before the end of sidewalk). Once we found the metro line, it was easy to hop on the metro and explore Hong Kong. The airport express was awesome, easy and efficient. Don't forget to buy an Octopus card and refund it at the end of your trip! Have a great time in Hong Kong!!!
Jun 27, 2019Any negative comment left on this apartment is absolute rubbish. First of all, Bren was so accommodating with check-in and check-out, it was so relieving to be able to arrive and settle in right away. It is exactly as pictures - no more, no less. A very clean apartment, small and cozy apartment. Very comfortable to hang out in at the end of busy day walking around the city. The rooftop terrasse has a view of the harbour which is where I loved to have breakfast. It is also a 20 minutes walk to Central and the main street for bars&going out. It is also 5 minutes away from Sin Yin Pin subway stop, on the same road as the appartment (Des Voeux) so super easy to get to. Wifi was refreshingly reliable after traveling through the mainland. Honestly, not a bad thing to say about this place. My parents and I were super happy with sleeping arrangements - if you want a big place, better pay the big Hong Kong price.

In the first days we had some troubles with the internet connection, but Brend helped us in all the ways possible, until sorting out the solution. He satisfied all the additional needs we discovered to have along our journey. Not more than this I can say: Brend is a great host! The apartment has a very strategic position: walking distance from the centre of HK island and from the MTR station.
Jul 27, 2019If all you need is a place to lay your head at night, this is place for you! Hosts are great and very accommodating. Location is a bit away from the main area, but that is why you pay less. There is still places around the apartment and the main nightlife is a quick walk away.

Jun 27, 2019The apartment was a good enough size for the 3 of us -- we were expecting it to be smaller (because Hong Kong) so we were pleasantly surprised! Everything else is as per the listing, location was convenient and close to MTR stations. It's also right smack in the middle of "Dried Seafood Street", which definitely makes for an interesting ambiance. All in all, a great stay. Thanks Brend!
Jun 27, 2019Well located app. close to the ferry harbour and train station. Everything you need is close by, restaurants and supermarkets. Easy to get there from the airport by airport express. Very close to the waterfront. For HK the place is spacious.
Jun 27, 2019We had a great stay in this apartment. Everything was very clean and it was nice to have the separate bedroom instead of my friend and I crammed into the one room. The host was very responsive and left great details and tips for the city. Communication was quick and easy. The location is very convenient for buses and trams and not terribly far from the mrt. It was nice being on the main road toward central so most of the transportation went there. It was nice to have the local diner and a Starbucks across the street and it was a nice walk to the midtown area with lots of shops and restaurants along the way. The local dim sum restaurant across the street on the 2nd floor was probably the best meal we had there and it was all locals and quite an experience ..a highlight for sure. Some small details to expect...There isn't much of a balcony on the roof and it felt like we were walking through someone else's space to get to it, so that's not a great selling point. The walls are very thin so the neighbors woke us up in the morning and the water pressure is kind of low, but not terrible. It would be nice to have some more options for tv or movies, but next time I would just take my computer and stream so that's not a huge deal. Overall it was a very good value and we really enjoyed our stay here. Brend was a great and attentive host.

Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed our stay at Brend's place. It was accessible via MTR, bus or tram. And they had bus and tram stations right outside the building. It was clean and had everything we needed. Check-in and check-out was a breeze and Brend was very responsive to questions. A book of tips and suggestions can also be found in the unit and it was very helpful.

Jun 27, 2019AC'n var väldigt högljudd men överlag var detta ett väldigt bra boende. Gångavstånd till bra nattliv, taxis som stannade en gata bort och affärer i närheten. Dessutom fanns allt man kunde tänka sig behöva i lägenheten - kyl, dusch, spis osv. Mycket bra ställe.

Jun 27, 2019Brend place is so nice, clean room, near MTR, near convenient store (just cross the street), near Ferry harbour also (if you have a plan go to macau or just using to cross HK island). The Host is also the best, so helpful and will provide you a lot of information about HK

Jun 27, 2019The Airbnb's location is near the station and there are quite a few food options around. Good luck cafe is pretty decent as a quick breakfast stop! Thank you for letting us check in super early too, it was really helpful. The only issue is, the lift for the building is pretty small and there is a small flight of steps in the main corridor so people with big/bulky luggages might have some problem. Besides that, the airbnb was good! :)

Jun 27, 2019Brend's place was just right for our family of three (2 adults and a 4-year old) for our week in Hong Kong! The location was great, with easy access to the MTR (3-4 blocks), numerous buses (right outside), several great playgrounds, and the municipal pool and other facilities at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park. The apartment is small but nicely organized, and we enjoyed the view of Victoria Harbor from the apartment and the small rooftop patio. One caution: there was a lot of noise from the elevator and common hallway (and we're long-time apartment residents). No problems sleeping between jet lag and ear plugs, and we never heard any noise from the neighboring apartments, but something to keep in mind. That said, I'd stay here again anytime!
Jun 27, 2019The appartment was small but nicely furnished (although it could use a bit of fresh painting!), and has a small separated bedroom with a single bed, which was very convenient for our daughter. It was unfortunately a bit noisy at night, especially because of the elevator that is located just next to the appartment. The location of the appartment is perfect, the MTR is less than 10 min walk away, and it is also possible to take the bus or the tram. Although we never met Brend (self check-in and check-out), the communication was easy and he always replied quickly. A good address to spend a week end to discover Hong Kong!

Jun 27, 2019This is a fantastic little place. It is tidy and efficient—perfect for us and our 10 year old. The building has lots of character and a tiny harbour view. Enjoyed our time on the rooftop. Transport team stop just out the front door and grocery across the street. Brend is helpful and quick to communicate. Would definitely stay again!

Jun 27, 2019The apartment was perfect for what we needed it for - 2 night stay in Hong Kong. It was very clean and had all the essentials. The Wi-Fi was really poor and was intermittent constantly. Before we arrived I had good communication with Brend and plenty of information, he also gave me notes about the original aircon system not working and a secondary had been fitted and full instructions on how to use it. However, none of the air con systems were working and we had to open the window to try and get some kind of air, this had resulted in myself and my boyfriend being covered head to toe in mosquito bites. Apart from the wifi and the aircon this perfect for what we needed it for.
Jun 27, 2019Brend was very easy to communicate with as he was always available and responded quickly. The space is small as it is in a central location in Hong Kong but was big enough for the three of us to come and go. There is an elevator which is necessary because the apartment is on the 11th floor. But there are some stairs to climb with bags before you hit the elevator. The apartment is a bit further west from the main shops and restaurants of Sheung Wan/Central, but we enjoyed how this apartment was just a bit further from the hustle and bustle. It seems that this apartment is in high demand as Brend had bookings back to back. Brend was so accommodating to us by having the apartment cleaned up and ready for an earlier check in. This made a huge difference as we had such a long travel day the day before. Thanks Brend!
Jun 27, 2019Very convenient location, central, close to the subway+bus, excellent for 3ppl, especially if you have one person that needs their own room. Compact apt but has everything you need. Tight but clean bathroom. Shower and sitting on the toilet might be a bit tricky for a big person. ^^; When we first stepped inside we were disappointed because the place looked outdated, dull walls, with dim lighting, and old linens. There are many more clusters of stuff laying around which makes the place look different from the photos. On the bright side, although it doesn’t look as bright and IKEA’ish as it did in the photos, this is still a great place to stay overall. Clean, convenient, and most importantly, it is not easy to get a separate bedroom for a 3rd person for this price. Highly recommended for a budget traveler.

Jun 27, 2019check out时漏了东西,很抱歉打扰到了日理万机的房东,房东很忙所以没讲完直接挂我电话还不忘讲拜拜,文字上都是复制,真正沟通就懒得理我,建议房东平时可以泡点菊花枸杞降降燥｡ 房子位置ok,离码头和地铁站近,楼下有巴士站和叮叮车站,附近很多便利店和餐馆｡ 不足就是空调非常吵,对睡眠质量有要求的朋友放弃吧,房间里有一幅诡异的挂画,想订这间房的朋友看清楚｡

Jun 27, 2019Although the building was older then I expected. Flat itself was pretty accurate to the photos. Location was really good. It was close to both IFC and ferry terminal. Brend was very friendly and quick to respond. Overall it was a great experience!

Jun 27, 2019Brend's place is simply clean and tidy. Though water pressure of the shower is a bit low, the place has all amenities I needed(especially iron and hair dryer). Location is great where public transports and local restaurants are just within few minutes walking distance. On the other hand, rooftop area is not that cozy as shown in the photos and you have to take stairs before you reach the lift lobby.

Jun 27, 2019位置还可以,周围有地铁和车站,离西环泳棚和上环码头很近,房间比预想的小一些,卫生间也比较紧凑,小失落是没有找到露台,空调声音有点大,但玩了一天超级累了,很快就能睡着,影响也不大,我们是两个人住,另外一间单人间就用来放东西啦,电梯有点吓人,每次到了后会沉一下,后来也就习惯了,房间是可以看到海的｡
Jun 27, 2019Great location between Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun. Some views including from rooftop however managing expectations that the pictures may somehow be too Ikea. Rooftop is basic (1 chair one table) and shared with older people living there. It's more a studio with a side single bed room. Only issues were small fridge and the noise of lift at odd times so overall good.
Jun 27, 2019I loved staying at Brend's flat. I was there for a little more than 2 weeks. There was everything we needed, very clean and such a good location!! Literally just a min away from the mtr. It's typical Hong Kong sized, so don't expect too much room - but it's all you need for a vacation.
Jun 27, 2019Brend's apartment is perfect if you want to be in the centre of the experience of life in Hong Kong. Walk out the front door and you have choice of the iconic island trams, the buses or walk a few meters to the train system. You are surrounded by the very pulse of historic Hong Kong. Directly across the road is a Wellcome supermarket, and if you come out of the entrance in the early morning, turn right , and then right again, you will come to a fantastic local noodle bar where the taxi drivers eat. Walk around 1km from the apartment and you are at the Star Ferry terminal, walk out of the apartment , cross the road and turn left and you are at one of the best dim sum restaurants on the island. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you want to immerse yourself in everything Hong Kong, stay here.

Points to note: - flight of stairs before reaching lift lobby, so heavy luggage might be a struggle - shower very low water pressure - toilet seat sandwiched tightly between shower curtain and bathroom wall Overall a good stay, host responsive, beds comfortable, aircons working, easy location.

Brend was a great host as she was always available for us and provided us with great info of places to visit and eat out in Hong Kong. If any friend of us goes to Hong Kong we will surely recommend this place :)

I enjoyed the stay in Sai Ying Pun this neighborhood, it’s less crowded and you can find good restaurants, convenient stores, great cafes, and of course all the 海味and臘味 here. Double bed is slightly smaller than normal Queen size bed. It would be great if there’s a chain lock on the door, female travelers will feel safer.
Jun 27, 2019We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Brend's place the past week and a half. It's in a great location and had everything we needed. It's quite roomy by HK standards and was comfortable for 2 people. The tram stops right outside which brings you into central for only 26p. Overall we were very happy.

Apartment much smaller than expected and doesn't look anything like the pictures, sofa broke and gave us stools to sit instead, not all TV channels work, bathroom door lock doesn't work, lift outside is extremely noisy and couldn't get to sleep or would be woken up if someone was using it in the middle of the night. Alright for a couple nights but not for anymore than a few days.
