Our stay in NY at Marie's place was a good one. Street and neightbourhood were nice. The apartment is big enough for two. Because at the back side no sunlight, so a bit dark. We slept well.
Jun 27, 2019Marie was out of the country, but her daughter Maria was *the* perfect host. The guests staying in the apartment before me missed their flight but Maria (and Marie, from halfway across the world) managed to find a solution which worked for all of us. The apartment is quite charming and really cozy. Although I was out most of the time, I managed to flip through a couple of interior design books. There were nice little touches too, like new magazines and fruit. The neighborhood, of course, is pretty quiet and safe. I managed to lock myself out (with my phone in the apartment) less than fifteen minutes before my ride to the airport was supposed to arrive, but the super was super helpful (no pun intended). Taxis are pretty easy to hail nearby (York/1st Ave). There's also a crosstown-bus stop a couple of minutes away, at 79th & York. The Met is a fifteen-minute walk away. All in all, I would definitely stay in Marie's and Maria's apartment again.
Jun 27, 2019Nous avons passés 3 semaines chez Marie en septembre 2012. L'appartement est exactement comme décris et correspond bien aux photos. Une station de métro "express" est à dix minutes de l'appartement. Central park est également à une dizaine de minutes à pieds : parfait pour les footings matinaux. Il y a beaucoup de commerces dans le quatiers (plusieurs supermarché à proximité), il y a egalement beaucoup de restaurant de tous types. Un marché a aussi lieu le samedi matin dans la rue. L'appartement est très calme, aucun bruit de l’extérieur la nuit. La cuisine n'est pas très grande mais nous mangions toujours a l'exterieur donc nous ne l'utilisons pas. Nous n'avons pas reussi à utiliser le Wifi mais un ordinateur connecté à Internet et à disposition dans l'appartement. Il y a une laverie dans l'immeuble avec machine a laver et seche linge. Le contact avec Marie est parfait. Elle est adorable et répond toujours très rapidement aux messages. L'appartement parfait pour les petits budgets.
Jun 27, 2019We arrived late and our host had made plans for us to pick up our keys in a convenient location. She later called to confirm. There was no internet connection, but we were able to obtain what we needed on out phones. Our apartment was quaint, clean but (somewhat dusty) and quiet. It reminded us of housing post college graduation. We were quite pleased with our host and our stay and would consider a return trip in the future.
Jun 27, 2019Queridos amigos, es imposible recomendar el departamento de Mery, ya que lo alquila para 4 personas y tiene mínimamente "comodidad " para 2 . Ya que consta de una cama matrimonial y un sofá que no es cama, salvó que quieras dormir en un colchón inflable pinchado. En el departamento convivirás con ratones que te comen tus alimentos si los dejas fuera del refrigerador. Las sábanas a pesar de estar lavadas tenían manchas de suciedad y no pretendas encontrar un plato o vaso igual al otro. No te dan la dirección exacta hasta 10 minutos antes de entrar 15 hs. Así qué deambularas por la cuidad con tus maletas. Si esto no es suficiente tengo fotos que lo demuestran, solamente escríbeme a mi correo y te las mandare. Espero que esta opinión te sirva para no tener que perder el dinero como me paso a mi, ya que tuve que hospedarme en un hostel cercano. Suerte
Jun 27, 2019it was unfortunate that the apartment was not available for my whole stay but i stayed at Marie`s apartment for 3 nights. Safe and convenient location. Great for people who come for business. Very clean, can be recommended for people who will spend most of the time outside. Thanks Marie and Maria.
Jun 27, 2019Nous sommes restés une semaine chez Marie au mois de mars. Marie a été très sympathique par mail et a pris du temps pour répondre à nos questions.Elle ne vit pas sur place, c'est sa fille qui s'occupe de l'appartement. L'appartement est un peu vieillot et sombre mais assez propre.Une des fenêtre de ferme pas et le lit est plutôt moyen. Il est bien situé, assez loin de la zone touristique, il y a des écoles à côté, c'est un "vrai quartier habité" par des New Yorkais, ce qui est plutôt sympa Un petit marché le samedi, des restaus pas loin, 15 minutes à pieds du Met. Il faut marcher 10 bonnes minutes pour attraper le métro et il faut bien compter 40 45 minutes pour arriver vers Wall Street, une demi -heure environ pour Times Square. Expérience sympa pour les petits budgets (pas si petits que ça au final, mais bon, tout est très cher à New York!)
Jun 27, 2019Marie was an excellent host. She responded to all questions and offered helpful information. She was flexible with check in/out times, which was extremely helpful. She also gave us some tips for good restaurants around town. The apartment was in a safe location, within walking distance of food and the subway. Toiletries, linens, and appliances were all provided. The apartment was decorated very nicely. It had a welcoming feel.

Jun 27, 2019We spent three weeks in the apartment, and we were very very disappointed by the host. First, it is really dusty and dirty : - no cleaning done as it was said - full of dust under the bed - no toilet paper - very dark inside - 20 minutes walk to central park (not 10) - 15 minutes walk to subway - very noisy with the neighbour, especially upstairs taking a bath (sound like a airplane military landing) everymorning - windows don't close very well (cold and noisy) - bed bug (little insects) which sting - no space for food in cupboards - the bed smells the cat poop - it is only for two persons - mildew in the bathroom - relocation in the apartment just next door with build works Then, the owner asked us at the middle of our stay if it was possible to change of apartment because she did a mistake and had to host other people... so she purposed a friend's room... we refused and then, the last day, for the check out, she told us, the new guest did enough "sacrifice", so we had to go out early and depose our luggage in town... 50$ of deposit.. The price should be much lower, I don't recommend this host.
Jun 27, 2019Our experience at Marie's was great. She was very welcoming and explained everything clearly upon arrival. The apartment is well located. It could be a little bit closer to subway (you have to walk 10 minutes or more to get to it) but you also have other means of transport to move. The neighbourhood is lovely, quiet, safe and full of shops of any kind. Inside the apartment everything was very clean and nice. New or almost new sheets and towels as well as an almost fully equipped kitchen (a microwave is missing). The bed was very comfortable and wifi and air conditioning worked perfectly. The relationship price quality is perfect. We definitely recommend this apartment for a young couple like us.

Jun 27, 2019Marie's place was exactly as it looks in the photos! Very comfortable and a great value. Marie took time to explain how everything in the apartment worked and even made certain that I tried the locks before she left. As a young woman traveling alone in NYC I felt completely safe walking around the neighborhood both during the day and at night. There are plenty of local conveniences nearby (drug stores, bodegas, bars and restaurants.) I would gladly rent from Marie again!
