I just returned from my stay at Jessica Ling's property in Forest Hills, NY. I never met my host Jessica. I got the key as arranged by David who was very kind and warm. The next morning I met Rose. Both of them worked in an office downstairs of this property. Both were very nice, and accommodating. The property is exactly as advertised. It is a large apartment upstairs, and there is an office downstairs. The neighbourhood is superb. It is quiet, safe charming and very close to many eating places. Shopping on Austin street is a short 15 minute walk. My only complaint is that there was no breakfast which I expected in a BnB, and one review spoke of breakfast being cooked by Jessica. It would have been great value for money if breakfast was included.

Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed our stay. We would stay again. I do have a few suggestions. 1) Too many signs. Does not make people feel welcome 2) You can save electricity by replacing your incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs. Your inefficient window air conditioners could be replaced by heat pumps. Then, leave them at a constant temperature for further savings. You may be eligible for rebates from New York for the installation. 2) Water can be saved by installing water saving shower head and faucet fitting. 3) If no one is going to clean, perhaps brooms, and cleaning supplies could be left for guests to use. 4) Could trash be taken out periodically? Guests did that from time to time over the week that we stayed. 5) I think putting used toilet paper in a bin in the bathroom is a real issue for most people from the U.S. That bin was never emptied except by myself during our stay.

Jun 27, 2019Jessica is a nice & friendly host, we had the main bedroom on the 2nd floor, solid comfortable bed, plenty room for two! We enjoyed early morning walk in the beautiful Forest Hills Garden, a 24 hours 7/11 convenience store couple of blocks away, 10 min walk to Trader Joe's .... all-in-all it's a happy experience. Jun 27, 2019It was a good experience staying in Ms. Ling's. The neighbor is quiet and safe. The room is very spacious and clean, and guests would also get the second-floor living room, kitchen and bathroom. I had little interaction with the hosts who are living downstairs, and there were a lot of restricting signs that made me feel a little bit unwelcome. Those were not big deals though. The only thing for me was that the house was like 15 mins' walk from the forest hills subway stop, and almost 40 mins' ride to Manhattan, which might be not convenient for a traveler. But overall, I liked the place.

Jun 27, 2019The houseowner, Jessica, was very responsive and helpful in securing the booking and arranging for arrival - keys provided upon arrival. The area, Forest Hills, is lovely and very safe. It make for wonderful walks through Forest Hills Garden. Easy access to Manhattan by train. My only feedback was improving the cleanliness, especially in the bathroom. Otherwise, a great stay!
