The house was beautiful especially the spacious living room on the 2nd floor with the big windows. The location perfect for our itinerary. Some rooms though are a little musty and while I didn't personally experience it, a companion of mine said that she could smell the dog in once of the bathrooms? Leon was very nice and helpful. We truly appreciate how he walked us through the house to make sure we have all that we need and how he helped us finalize the sites that we would visit for the rest of our trip.

Leon was responsive and communicative prior to the reservation. However, he was out of town during our one night stay but his wife stayed up late to receive us as we had a late arrival, which was much appreciated. The home is situated in a secluded area, sort of like a forest. It's about a 5-10 mins drive from the main road and not much to eat after dark. I wish we knew as our family was hungry when we arrived and it was just too far to drive back out to search for food. So bring your own supplies as they have a fully functional kitchen from what I can see. The home is quite large, but not the cleanest nor is it updated. The fourth 'bedroom' is an area blocked off by a screen. Sofas were made into beds in the living room which served as a bedroom and one of our occupants was looking for more privacy and wanted to sleep downstairs on a couch but said it was not very clean. Also, there are holes in the screens and mosquitoes were coming into the house. So you will need to bring bug spray. I saw AC in the listing, but there's no AC offered. And Leon's wife mentioned electricity is very expensive so we didn't bother searching for the AC. The dog was friendly and stayed in the porch and guarded us throughout the night. When we woke up in the morning, we realize the view from the deck was quite nice. We didn't really do much other than shower and sleep since it was a short stay. Also, bathrooms weren't the nicest. Could use some cleaning.

A big house perfect for a large group that is comfortable sharing the space, and maybe some rooms. Our choir of 14 singers had a great time. Only 30 minutes to Hilo and 15 minutes to see the Volcano, this was perfect for us. Leon was very easy to talk to, he was friendly and accommodating. He allowed us to check in earlier upon request. The description and photos are very accurate. Our group wanted to be together and since we were on a limited budget this really helped us out. We prepared food and shared breakfast easily in the large living space and lanai. Recommend, especially if you are looking for a simple lodging solution in a quiet location and don't intend to spend a lot of money on hotels.

Leon is a very nice person and a local guide. gave a lot of tips to go around. His place is close to Hilo, so if you plan to drive from Kona, its 2 hrs. Kitchen has all ameneties and some groceries we can be used freely. Only improvement is overall cleanliness. Its average.
