Our stay was great! had 2 bedrooms as advertised - one with a king sized bed (taking up 2/3 of the room) and the other with a bunk bed. Having laundry facilities was nice. And all the 'small appliances' in the kitchen we would want for our stay. Our original host sold the house and we were notified a few days before our stay... surprising and a little nerve-racking. But the new host, Katie, was great and the host change did not affect us. Our internet was down for one day and she got on addressing it immediately. She was great with texts and replying very quickly. She even left us a pineapple and wished us 'sweet holidays!' a nice and sweet gesture. There was a great beach few houses down, and it was beautiful. Grocery store nearby, overall convenient location. Great value for Hawaii (especially during the marked up times of the holidays).

Katie is extremely friendly and helpful. We arrived Honolulu on a very late flight and by the time we arrive at the place was already midnight. I had trouble figuring out where to park and unlock the door. She was very patient and kind to assist me over the phone even she was probably asleep by then. The house was tidy but it was not very clean overall. The floor and counter was a bit sticky. It's great that Katie provided all the water sports gears but I guess the previous tenant didn't do a good job cleaning them after. The bed was comfortable but we couldn't find the blankets for the sofa bed and the bunk beds. On the first night, we were waken up by the alarm clock next door which was at 5am. The room itself was not too hot or cold; the shower has consistent hot water:)

Our host gave us an excellent description of the home and how to access and use it, and the neighborhood was (Website hidden by Airbnb) surprises!

Katie was very friendly when we arrived. Give us one list with things to do and directions about Oahu. She let us very free in the house. The house is well equipied like described in the website. We enjoy very much Stay in Laie, is a quiet neighborhood, but with some structure.

We enjoyed our stay in Laie. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Katie (it would have been great to have someone welcome us and show us the place..but no big deal). The area is quiet and very scenic. Not a great place if you want an exciting nightlife, but perfect if you are looking for a scenic, quiet rural area with beauty all around. The dwelling was what we expected. Nothing fancy, basic but clean, and plenty of space for our family of five. Having the laundry facility was a big bonus.

Initially, we tried to get into the wrong unit, probably our fault because we mis-understood the directions. There were 2 lockboxes and we just assumed that the first lockbox that we saw is the unit. We called Katie but got a voicemail. Finally, someone that lives in the upper unit came to our rescue and showed us the correct unit. I think it would have help if Katie is available during checkins even if it's only via phone to answer any last minute hiccups during initial checkins. Overall, the unit is what we expected and had everything that we needed. We had a wonderful stay and the lookout at the end of the street is very beautiful.

Upon arrival, we were a bit disapppinted with the place. Although generally clean, after closer inspection seemed a bit run down. Bathroom had one single lightbulb, porch had none. Yes property does have AC but is a portable unit with no obvious or easy way to use to vent in the window. There is a BBQ but it is tiny. Things just were not as they seemed from the listing. Washing facilities were provided although was a bit awkwardly located as you had to walk through the tenant's private outdoor area. Dryer was broken last two days we were there. Owner did not leave detailed instruction about property upon arrival. Had to text to get basic information like wifi password, what was ours to use, etc. On the positive side: good location. Local beach was easily accessible. End of the road viewing area was amazing. Quiet neighborhood. Beach gear was appreciated. Owner was quick to respond to questions. Loved the huge island in kitchen.

Loved this place. I took my significant other and the kids there as a weekend getaway and it was exactly what the images showed. Everything we needed was there and we were able to find things with no issue. The beaches around there are great and kid friendly, even for the ones that cannot swim. A short walk down the road will put you at a great photo spot. Overall a great experience. Would recommend it to anyone. The host was great at staying in contact with me during my stay as well.

We into Laie late in the evening, but that wasn't a problem with staying at the Pineapple Shack. Katie had done a great job with providing directions for us to follow, even in the dark. All of the living area was large and comfortable. The bedrooms were a bit small, but we were only there to sleep. Worked fine. It was an easy walk (max. 10 minutes ) to everywhere we wanted to go in Laie. The neighborhood was quiet. We enjoyed it enough that our daughter and her family plan to stay during their trip in June.

We arrived and checked in late and it was very nice to be able to get in with a code. The only issue we had was getting connected to the Internet, but once we had the correct password it worked well. The apartment was clean and in a good neighborhood with off street parking. It had everything we needed and was great overall.

Our stay at the Pineapple Shack was everything Katie advertised and more. The apartment was clean, supplied with necessities and Katie was available when we needed her. The walk to Laie Point was beautiful at sunrise and sunset...even in the rain. My family and I truly enjoyed our stay (as brief as it was). Mahalo, Katie and e hui ho.

Cute,Clean and Cozy rental. Our family enjoyed a cherished Hawaiian week here. Katie and her husband were incredibly helpful and always responded quickly to any questions. Pineapple Shack is basic but had what we needed. Our family enjoyed the short walk to beach. Sunrise and sunset on the point were a beautiful sight. Laie was a central location for our planned daytime activities. We had a great stay!

Very good experience. We loved Laie and the house was in a great location. So close to the beach! The house looked exactly like the pictures. Good communication with host. We had several questions and they were always quick to reply. Also, their list of things to do was really helpful because we had no idea where to start. We really loved having the boogie boards and other beach supplies ready for us. It saved us a lot of time. Overall... Great Experience. Would definitely stay here again.

our experience at the pineapple shack was great! katie's communication and instructions were perfect and made everything very convenient and easy... from parking the car, how to get in the house, wifi, everything available to us around the house, and her suggestions for places to see. it was the perfect choice for me and my kids. thank you for helping to make our first experience in Hawaii the best ever.

The pineapple shake was as good as advertised! We loved the clean, simple, modern, Hawaii feel of the decor! Perfectly located on a peninsula...fun for sunrises and we worked out in the mornings down there! Good locale for getting around on the north shore...easy access to grocery, food joints, PCC, BYU campus & temple and beaches galore! The house was appropriatly and appreciativly stocked with enough towels, beach accessories, bath necessities, fans, and kitchen gadgets! Owners were easily accessible and helpful! We would defiantly stay here again! Mahalo!

Katie was a great host! The location was fantastic and as described. The beds were a little firm for our taste, but really can't complain when you are in paradise. ;)

The Pineapple Shack is as described and as shown in the pictures of the listing. The main bedroom has an AC unit that was nice because it was very warm and humid during our stay. The neighborhood was quiet and the road in front of the house leads to a very nice park where you can watch sunrise and sunset. The nicest feature of the Pineapple Shack is the counter/table for eating and/or socializing after a Hawaiian day out. We did not use the top bunk bed in the secondary bedroom. We opted to sleep in the sofa. The top bunk bed is too close to the ceiling fan and we feel that it is hazardous to sleep in it especially when the ceiling fan is on (and it was on because it was hot).

The house was clean, and we loved the location--a short walk to the end of the beautiful Laie Point, and very close to the Polynesian Cultural Center and to a shopping center. The heated outdoor shower in the back was great as well for washing off after coming back from the beach. The house isn't fancy, but it's functional and in a great spot. Our only real issue was the heat--the standalone A/C unit in the one bedroom was not strong enough to cool that room, let alone the whole unit. We may have been there during a particularly hot week, but we roasted while there, and had a hard time sleeping because of it.

Very tastefully designed and well located rental. Had everything (really everything) you could need or want, from snorkel gear to coffee filters. This saved us a lot of time and money (groceries are not cheap on the islands). Super kid friendly too: including a special toilet seat for kids, beach toys and spare diapers. We were there almost a week and could of easily stayed longer (or moved in). location is great, close enough for trips to the amazing East and North shore. If you've never been to the area, there is a lot to explore: tons of beautiful beaches, great farmers markets, food, history. never a dull moment (we downloaded a good driving tour app and Katie provides a great list of things to do). If you don't feel like driving, there is a lovely and quiet beach, a stunning rocky point for watching the sunset, and strip mall with a grocery store, all a short walk away. Neighborhood was quiet and charming. the only negative I can think of is that the place is not impervious to bugs: saw a huge centipede close to the entry and a few cockroaches & flying termites made it inside after it rained. I hear this is totally normal in Hawaii, but the place isn't completely sealed (i.e. gaps under the doors) so it did cause a little anxiety. The AC could be a better installed and the porch light was broken, but overall these things didn't negatively impact our visit and we still recommend it to anyone. random tip: if you are staying with a larger group there is another rental in the same house. good for family reunions :)

Wonderful experience! We had an amazing time! We loved the beach access and walking to the Point each morning. The apartment was extremely clean and had all the amenities it promised and more! I would recommend this place to any small family! Katie was very helpful and contacted us when we needed her. Thank you, Katie for a great experience!

The pineapple shack is adorable and I don't think you will find a better location on the island. Katie did a great job organizing the home and has provided lots of extra amenities. Communicating with Katie is easy and she has all the information you need to make your stay at the pineapple shack extra breezy. Her guidebook of Oahu is excellent and an extra great bonus if you are a first time visitor. Some things to keep in mind, on Sunday, stores are closed in Laie. The summer is hot on Oahu and the A/C unit does not cool the entire home, but there are plenty of fans.

Our family of four spent a very pleasant week at Pineapple Shack. Katie's instructions were just right, and included a well thought out guide of things to do. The apartment itself was nicely decorated and very well equipped, and has very good ventilation. The place is not new and some areas show their age, but that is in line with the price, and everything was clean. There is beach access a few hundred feet from the apartment, and the location is handy to Laie, the PCC, BYU, the LDS temple and the north shore. We would definitely stay there again.

We are a family of 5 and stayed at this house just for 1 night. All was as described. We appreciated the cleanliness and the well stocked kitchen. It was a very hot and humid night so the room AC could not quite make it for the full apartment but we managed with the room fans. It would be good to add some information somewhere in the hosue about how to get to the wonderful beach close by.

Katie was very helpful and replied promptly to questions. The listing was very accurate, and the home was very comfortable. Detailed instructions and suggestions were provided, which was also a huge help for our visit. A/C unit was great, perfectly sized rooms, loved the deck and appreciated having beach gear and other necessities available for use. Beach is not far and very quiet, which we loved. Neighborhood was quiet and relaxing as well.

The Pineapple Shack is functional and easily accommodates the six it describes. There are very few hotels on the northeast part of Oahu or the North Shore. This location was IDEAL for a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We arrived at night after spending time in Waikiki, then spent a day at the PCC, one more night here, and moved on. The beach is three doors down and is very child friendly. My little two LOVED it. My older son was wishing for stronger waves. It's in a nice protected area of sand and sea. There is grocery store literally on the corner, and not just a little convenience mart, but a real store. That was nice. The Pineapple Shack had boogie boards, ironing board, outdoor shower, beach umbrella, pack-n-play (we didn't need it but saw it there), all items a family would need. It's more like renting a little cottage than a condo. No frills, but very practical and convenient. It's a little dated but for the price point and location it works well.

The Pineapple Shack was a perfect for my daughter and I. I enjoyed walking to the beach every morning and even caught a few sunrises. The outdoor shower located on the property was awesome! The location was perfect in a quiet residential neighborhood but walking distance to Foodland market and the best burger restaurant Seven Brothers. I also ended most days by walking to Laie Point to watch the waves and the fisherman and the spectacular views (located at the end of the street Small tour buses drive by all day long bringing in tourists to see the view. The Pineapple Shack really felt like home. It was fully stocked with toileties and all the kitchen essentials as well. It was nice and clean with super cute beach decor. The bed in one of the rooms is advertised as a king bed but it is a queen bed at best. It is also very firm. This is important to note for couuples who are not used to sharing a smaller bed. The air conditioner in this guest room was a life saver! And we appreciated the ceiling fans in every room. Overall, there is so much to do,see, eat, and experience on Oahu's North Shore. Do yourself a favor and book the Pineapple Shack.

This was a hidden gem!! Perfect location, steps from the beach and an easy walk to the point. I was so happy with my stay at the pineapple shack. It was very clean and perfect for the three of us, but can easily accommodate a couple more people. Fully stocked kitchen with all the tools you need to cook! We needed help finding the stairs to the beach, called Katie and she picked up right away! I can't wait for my next airbnb adventure!

Se você está procurando por um lugar super em conta pra ficar no Hawaii esse é o lugar. O lugar é simples mas tem tudo oq vc precisa. A dona da casa é super gente boa. I couldn't ask for a best host. The place is simple, clean, great location and most importantly good price. It has all you need for an affordable dream vacation to Hawaii.

Katie was fairly flexible with the check in process. As our itinerary is quite tight during our stay; unfortunately, we weren't able to meet in person. Her place is fairly close to what the pictures showed, it's basic but has almost everything you need. The location is amazing, the beach @ Laie point is just around the corner and it's perfect to catch sunrise for sure. There is lots of boogie boards, snorkeling gears for the guests to use. The outdoor shower at the back is also really convenient. One minor thing is as she mentioned there is only one portable AC unit in the house at the bigger bedroom, however, it wasn't installed properly and it didn't work during our stay.

We stayed at the Pineapple Shack for two nights while attending a wedding nearby. It's a great location, and the shack covered all the basics. The laundry room was a wonderful bonus after two days of muddy hikes on Kauai. Katie did a great job communicating all the check-in details and location info in advance and was very responsive when I had questions. My husband and I enjoyed the AC in the main bedroom. Our friends did not fare as well in the other room, where the air flow wasn't great and the bunk beds rocked under the weight of adults turning over in their sleep.

This was a great little spot on a quiet street. We had a fantastic time in Oahu and enjoyed the beaches, food and the tranquility of the area. The outside shower is great. Our kids enjoyed the snorkeling gear and body boards tremendously. Our stay at the pineapple shack was great for our family. Katie was prompt in her responses and the guide/manual she provided was excellent and made our vacation even better. Thank you!

When I first arrive I parked in the wrong lot but luckily I was greated by Katie's husband and he directed me where to park. From that point on everything was a breeze and as accurate as described in the listing. The house was very clean and had all the essentials making my trip all the better.

We had a wonderful time in Laie, and Katie was a great host! Her tips and local recommendations were really useful. The house was excellent, the kitchen was well equipped and we didn't have any problems. We also didn't have a car, and the house was super easily accessible by TheBus.

My parents and I had a wonderful week at the Pineapple Shack. The apartment was clean and well equipped from boogie boards to spices in the kitchen. There was even a blender! Katie left several useful tips about the island and the area including restaurant recommendations and things to see and do. It was great to have local inside knowledge. We also loved the location. Laie is minutes from the Polynesian Cultural Center and in a much less congested and busy part of the island than Honolulu. We loved being on the North Shore and our access to great beaches, great local eateries and just a feeling of getting away from it all. I would highly recommend Katie and her lovely guest house for those looking for an authentic North Shore experience.

Wonderful host. Excellent location. A little over an hour away from the city which is exactly what we were looking for (10 min from Turtle Bay resort). The space itself was great, exactly as pictured but felt much bigger.

Great location! Stayed when the waves were topping 45 feet in Waimea Bay, so the beautiful Laie Point down the street was a sight to see! The house is located very close to a Foodland Supermarket. I do want to note that there is no alcohol sold anywhere in Laie. I like to have mimosas in the mornings while on vacation here :). It is a close ten minutes or less drive to Kahuku though to get to a liquor store. Just a minor inconvenience. As for the house, everything was fine. The bathroom tub isn't as updated as I hoped it would be but it served its purpose. Katie was a great host with easy communication; she had everything from beach chairs to rubbing alcohol. We BBQ'ed and realized the trash can provided is way too small. We threw out the trash three times, but i did appreciate the extra trash bags. Overall, excellent and I would stay again for the comfort of feeling at home and the location.

Great first A B&B experience and perfect place for a getaway. Liae point is breathtaking and the house is centrally located to all the spots you want to hit on the North Shore. Grocery and quick shopping are close by and walkable. Many food trucks in the area which adds a nice "authentic" feel to you trip.

I stayed at the Pineapple Shack for one night. The place was easy to find. It was clean and had all the things I needed for my short stay (towels, shampoo/conditioner, essentials for the kitchen. It is a short walk to the beach and the grocery store. The neighborhood felt safe and quiet. I didn't get to meet Katie but we did exchange a few messages to make sure I find the place OK.

I highly recommend this location. Very nice! Loved being on the oint, felt like a local. Walk to a quiet beach that is great for kids, or a 2 minute drive to Hukilau beach, which was awesome. Going to Goat Island was very fun too. Whole setup was incredible, Katie was a great hostess and very welcoming, but we had tons of privacy. Would definitely love to stay here again. 100x better than staying at a hotel.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Pineapple Shack. Nice residential neighborhood that's close to great park at the end of the street... I grew up in Laie so I was already very familiar with the area and we enjoyed the location. We didn't meet Katie because we got in late and we're on the go during the day, but we actually appreciated our privacy. If I had bumped into her I would have asked for more bedding because there wasn't enough for our group. There was bedding provided for the beds, but not for the bed in the couch. We rationed out and it was fine since the nights weren't cold. I was disappointed that the bed in the bedroom was listed as a king, but is actually a queen. But overall, the unit was clean, there were no bugs, I knew Katie was available if I had sought her out, and we had a positive experience.

We had an amazing stay at the pineapple shack! The place was just as described and in a wonderful neighborhood in Laie. It was stocked with everything we needed to call the place home for the week and there is a market within walking distance for groceries! Beautiful beaches also within walking distance, a short three minute drive to the Polynesian cultural center, 20 minutes to the kualoa ranch, an hour from the city, the location of the place really made our vacation! Also, the neighborhood is super family friendly and not once did we feel unsafe! Katie was available to answer questions and even was willing to ship my daughters favorite stuffed animal back to us that she forgot! Do not hesitate to book with Katie! Next time we are in Oahu we will be staying at one of her listings for sure!

The listing was very accurate, the place was exactly as I'd expected it to be. Very homey and the right size for my family of 3. We ended up using the big bed in one room, and the pull out couch in the living room, because it was pretty hot. Thankfully, the two ceiling fans and opening up all the windows really helped. Katie had plenty of towels (both bath and beach) that we were able to use when we went out to explore. She even has some beach chairs and mats! Bathroom was stocked with shampoo and conditioner, but no body wash, FYI. There is a clothes hanger in the shower to dry off your swim wear, which was very convenient. Overall a very nice stay!

The Pineapple shack was just as stated, clean and quiet. Laundry facilities were easy to access and everything was exactly where Katie said it would be. Katie was prompt in answering any questions we had and our stay was comfortable.

Besides the minor mix up on the first couple of days, our overall stay at our first Airbnb was wonderful. The pineapple shack was just as described. Besides just having one bathroom, it was a perfect fit for 6 people. The entire place was equipped with more than enough (soap/shampoo, towels, sheets). Opening up the windows helped a lot and was very refreshing. This location was the best being very quiet and safe. A very short walk to the Laie Point and the private beach.

Katie was very responsive throughout the booking process. The apartment was easy to find and check-in was seamless. The apartment is located a 5 minute walk from the beach in Laie, a town I truly enjoyed! Grocery store and great food is nearby. Four of us stayed for a week and we had everything we needed. The apartment was stocked with towels, extra blankets, and even beach gear! We had 2 cars which fit into the driveway. The apartment is clean and cute. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. One thing to keep in mind is that it does tend to get hot, and the sole air conditioner is in the double bed room. We kept the bedroom door open to help the cool air flow. Not a big deal since you'll be out enjoying Laie and Hawaii anyway! I would rent again. Thanks for a great stay!

We loved the Pineapple Shack - a great change of pace after the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Katie was very welcoming and had some great tips for things to do/see/eat which made our trip even better. We loved the snorkel gear and put it to good use. The Shack was more spacious than we'd expected, and the afternoon sea breeze was beautiful. Having a hire car made this experience great, together with the use of the shared laundry.

We loved staying at the pineapple shack and loved the beach house feel of the home. It was a great north shore location and was close to the water, but not too close. It is a cute little home and our family of 6 enjoyed our stay here. It was very hot, but the window A/C unit helped to cool the home. My son said the couch was a very comfortable bed. Katie was quick to respond when I texted her.

This was a fantastic place to stay. Only a few minutes drive to some of the best beaches we visited in Oahu! The end of the road that the house is on has a beautiful view of the bay and the sunrise. It's a great location if you want to be in a more secluded area that doesn't have as many tourists (as opposed to Honolulu), but it is quite a drive to get anywhere on the island that isn't there North Shore. The Wi-Fi was a little wonky, but I'm not sure if that was a random occurrence of something that is a continual issue. Other than that, this was a fantastic place to stay and I would highly recommend it!

We enjoyed staying at Katie's cute Pineapple Shack. It's easy to access to grocery stores for supplies. It's also are surrounding to many yummy food trucks and attractions like Giovanni's Shrimp Shack, Polynesian Culture Center, Turtle Bay etcs. There also plenty of towels and snorkeling supplies that we can use. The only one thing that kinda bothers me is that the wifi is kinda slow and there's no signals in the bedrooms. Also the portable AC was only in one room, so the living room and the other room can be kinda hot during the heat waves. We just leave all of the windows open, and the ventilation was pretty good actually. Also there's laundry room with supplies in the back of the house, which is a great plus. Overall, we like the Pineapple Shack and will definitely stay again if we gonna visit the north shore.

This is a cute little place at a great price with an excellent location with a very short walk to the ocean. Katie was lovely and very easy to. Immune are with.

Condo is shabby chic and very charming. Place is easy to find. The only thing was that bed in main bedroom was not a King it is a Queen.. Bedrooms are hot at night , main bed room is super small and does have a portable air conditioner, it is very very noisy but does cool the room very well.

The welcome on the blackboard was actually for another guest. Not all our bedding was available but was delivered. Neighbourhood was rather odd but felt quite safe. Hard to tell if many people actually lived here - there were huge houses but some almost derelict. Barking dog at night pretty annoying.

We enjoyed staying at the Pineapple Shack. There were four of us (two couples), and we used the "master" bedroom and the pull out couch. The house has good airflow, and with the windows and fans it stayed quite cool. We didn't use the AC unit at all. We used the outdoor shower more than the indoor one, since the water pressure was better outside. The laundry worked great. It's a very convenient location, close to shops and beaches.

Great place. Loved the country feel. Far away from Waikiki, but close to north shore. We had a car, so no worries. Place was perfect for our family of five, including toddler. Kitchen was stocked with supplies, and place had snorkel gear and boogie board. We loved pineapple shack.

Katie was flexible with our needs and made sure we were comfortable. There was plenty of space & having a kitchen helped with dining costs-But we also made sure to enjoy the local food! We opened all the windows & enjoyed the cool breezes. Laie is a beautiful area, with uncrowded clean beaches, amazing views & a quick drive to the north shore.

Katie's place is a cute apartment that's perfectly located in the quiet town of Laie. It's the perfect place from which to explore the north shore. The apartment was clean, kitchen and bathroom were well stocked and parking was perfect right outside the door. Fans and one air conditioning unit cool the apartment down at night. It's also just a hop skip and a jump from Laie point, which has stunning views. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quiet getaway, close to the north shore beaches.

This accommodation was well located near shops and a cinema and we were able to explore lots of the north shore and east coast of Oahu. Extremely close to the Polynesian Cultural Center too.

Katie's place is super cute, well-equipped, and a really great value. It's definitely cozy for 6 adults, but we weren't in the apartment that much. The kitchen is well stocked with toaster, rice cooker, pots, pans, etc. and the bathroom has beach towels, curling iron, blow dryer, regular iron, and a bunch of random snorkeling gear (not all work though). The place is decorated really nicely and super close to the beach as well! Katie was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed.

The hosts at this property were great and the check in was very simple. katie was also easy to get a hold responded to our messages very quickly. the pineapple shack is a nice, quiet property but depending on what you want your trip to be this may not be the right choice. Laie town is very conservative and you will need to drive at least 10-15 minutes away to find a cup of coffee or glass of wine. the beaches nearby were not crowded but during our visit they were very dirty which made finding good swimming spots difficult. this would be a nice spot for a family with young children but young adults may want to opt for a different part of the island. overall the place is well equipped but the bathroom and kitchen could use a bit of updating. if you plan to cook here be sure to bring everything you need including proper knives, cutting board, etc.

Good price, near to Polynesian Cultural Center, near grocery store. Well equipped, great to have snorkeling and beach toys. Small, didn't work well for our family of 6.

Katie's place in Lā'ie is terrific really worked for us (group of 3). Communication before/during and after was perfect with fast responses to inquiries about local restaurants and attractions. Katie's place is in a residential neighborhood and within walking distance from the amazing Lā'ie Point. A treasure of blue waters and waves crashing on the rocks. Also there's a path down to a very private beach that also is a stunner. Close (driving) distance to Polynesian Cultural Center for some local historic and cultural flavor. Solid place and very good location!

This is a very cute, clean place in a great location, but be aware that while one bedroom has a queen-size bed, the other bedroom only has a set of bunk beds--o.k. for kids, maybe, but uncomfortable for an adult because the mattresses are very "firm". Bonus: We stayed in February and saw whales from the lookout point at the end of the street!

We had a great stay at the Pineapple Shack while vacationing with our daughter and her BYUH roommates. Katie's place is really well stocked with everything we needed, even things we didn't expect like a box of chocolates when we arrived! It was easy to find, perfectly located for BYUH and the Polynesian Cultural Center. Quiet residential neighborhood in walking distance from a grocery store and restaurants. We recommend it!

The pineapple shack is in a quiet residential area in Laie - within a 5 minute walk is a supermarket and a few eateries. Giovanni's Shrimp truck is a 5 minute drive down the road and well worth a visit! Also at the end of the street is a beautiful lookout, good for sunsets. It's actually the spot where they filmed a section of Forgetting Sarah Marshall (where they jump off the cliff). The space is quite small, we had just us two - I probably wouldn't recommend a family of 6 staying! The main bedroom is also very small and can get quite stuffy - I would suggest keeping all the windows open. The bed in the main bedroom is very very very hard which was a bit of a bummer, we ended up sleeping on the pull out sofa because we just couldn't get any sleep on the bed. I would definitely recommend an upgrade of the bed as it was so uncomfortable. Otherwise, the house is well equipped with beach gear and Katie was an excellent host.

Had a wonderful stay at Katie's place. Cute, clean, and functional - kitchen had the basics, and she provided shampoo and conditioner, but no body wash. A clean, quiet beach and shops/restaurants are within walking distance. An easy drive to more popular beaches and great hiking. Check-out required a few more steps than I've seen at other airbnbs, but not bad.

Nice location. Easy waking distance to the very scenic ocean point down the street or the beach to the (?) South. Another great beach about a mile up to the North and likewise maybe a 10 minute walk down to the grocery store, shops, and handfull of restaurants. Peaceful, beautiful location, well-equipped kitchen, clean & comfortable.

Great place. The bed was comfortable. Small air conditioner in room added extra comfort. Kitchen was well equipped. Great communication and everything was just as advertised. No need to bring beach toys or snorkeling gear for the family as there was beach gear available to use. Will visit again!

The place was as described. I enjoyed it. Centrally located, has everything you would need. I wish there was an air conditioning unit in both bed rooms and the living room but at least there were ceiling fans. Bathroom was great. I loved the white notebook that Katie prepared for the guests. I recommend all to read it when they first get there. It has the best places to eat and some of the best beaches close by.

The Pineapple Shack was a great place to stay. The host has thought of everything to provide (linens, kitchen items, beach supplies) which made it really feel like a home away from home. Excellent location for checking out the North Shore.

Katie place is amazing. Even though we were always out and about her place was perfect for hosting my visiting family and reasonable option for this part of the island. I love the location, a walk from the beach, eateries, groceries, and scenic views. A drive away from awesome activities. Perfect getaway from city life!

There wasn't any problems with communicating with the host. She replied for every message. But we weren't very pleased. First of all the place wasn't ready for declared time- the cleaner was late and we had to wait outside in the car. After first night we discover that there were cockroaches and ants in the condo. The bed in main bedroom was broken- really uncomfortable. The localization was very good. There were market and The Polynesian Centre very close to the house.

The Pineapple Shack was darling! So many wonderful things about it! Location was prime, shopping PCC, temple, BYU Hawaii all within 5 mins drive and spectacular ocean view at the end of of the street. It was neat and clean. Loved the extras: beach equipment, platoon, outdoor shower and parking. Highly recommend to a party of 6! Aloha!

Great property, in great location. Slight issue with check in communication

    Jun 27, 2019
  • Karina

The location is great as far as being close to shopping and the PCC. But to get to a beach you have to drive 5-10 minutes away. However, the bed in the master bedroom is the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. I would have rather slept on a cot than this bed. If you don't care about a comfortable bed then this place is fine. Not great. But fine.

The Pineapple Shack was a cozy island retreat that became a home away from home for us. We arrived late one night to a very clean well kept place. Entry by code is very convenient. The kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes and appliances you could need. There was a great stash of snorkel gear and beach towels as well. As is the case in island life, just after the lawn was mowed, there were a few more bugs inside than we wanted to deal with, and when we let Katie know, she immediately had pest control come spray for us. Also, when our son got into a fight with a Portuguese Man of War, Katie rushed over with oils and advice to help us get him through the ordeal. She is absolutely a five star hostess. The only reason we gave this home a four star rating was because we thought it was a single home, but it had three apartments within our building. Next door was a group of six to ten young adults who we shared the laundry and outdoor shower with. Although they were nice kids, we did not have full access to our back patio because they were out there drinking, smoking, and swearing and we had kids with us who were uncomfortable with that. There was also an issue of our hot water running out due to the number of people in the building (we are a family of five). We did ask Katie about the water and she immediately sent her husband out to adjust the hot water. If you have any concerns at all, just let Katie know and she will go out of her way to make your visit comfortable. We loved the location and the short walk to a great relaxing semi private beach! Thank you Katie for sharing your island with us!

The pineapple shack was a great stay-cation for me and my friends. It was clean, very comfortable and homey. The best part was it was very close to the beach!

My friends and I (4 total) stayed at The Pineapple Shack for two nights. It fit our needs perfectly! Small, simple, cozy, very clean, and near the shopping center, Polynesian Cultural Center, and the beach. We loved the available parking spots and keyless entry. Also, Katie was quick to resolve the issue of no bedding upon first arrival. So great, I definitely recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pineapple Shack! We had a party of 8 and even though it was a bit cramped, we managed. The unit is VERY clean and updated. Pineapple Shack is definitely what Hawaii is all about, kick back, relaxed and no worries. This unit had every thing we needed, towels, beach toys for my little ones, wave boards for the older kids, an IRON (LOL), a rice cooker, comfortable couch and it was in the center of all our activities... PCC, Hukilau beach, Laie Point (which is literally right down the street from the house). The location is perfect to get away from all the tourists and busy traffic. Food Land was our best friend and provided breakfast, lunch and dinner for our entire family. Luckily when we were there it was very windy so we left our windows opened every night and felt a nice cool breeze as we slept. You could actually hear the ocean waves at night which was nice to sleep to. Pineapple Shack has everything you'll ever need to make your stay comfortable in paradise. We'll definitely be back!

Bright, cute space. Quiet neighborhood. It was perfect for us. We had spent some time in Honolulu prior to staying here, so our goal was just to see what the North Shore had to offer. It's a solid hour from Honolulu, so keep that in mind. The beach that is 3 doors down is excellent for toddlers (shallow/not any waves because of the reef)! Shopping center just a minute walk away. Overall great experience!!

Our young family of 6 stayed here on our recent Oahu vacation. The space was much better than expected and very clean. My kids loved being there and even asked to go back to the rental early one day just to relax. The Pineapple Shack is on quiet Laie Point. We liked leaving a window or two open at night to feel and smell the ocean breeze and it was always quiet out. We were woken up each day by the roosters outside. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We walked to both Laie Point and Bikini Beach from the house. It's a great location for an Oahu vacation. Nice and laid back.

After a fast paced Cruise trip around the islands, Kaite's Pineapple Shack was a great place to relax and end our Hawaiian vacation. • Jonell

It was a nice space for the price but it was a bit smaller then I expected. My biggest complaint was that we were asked to shower off the sand using the outdoor shower but it had absolutely no water pressure. Then when inside in a 5 day stay I had 3 cold showers. Plus the group upstairs had children running back forth pretty much the entire time obviously not the host fault but it was annoying. The location was great though so it met our needs. Also it supplied everything you need to go to the beach and the kitchen was equipped for eating in which was great.

The pineapple shack was perfect for my family. We didn’t need much but it had just what we needed without having to spend extra money for a fun day at the beach. We ran through a few problems with a small power outage from starting up the microwave but katie replied quickly and helped us instantly. I’d definitely recommend if you’re looking for a small space and want to be close to the beach or the north shore! It was also very easy to locate the place.

The Pineapple Shack is in a great location if you are looking to stay in the Laie area with easy access to the Polynesian Cultural Center, BYU-Hawaii, LDS temple, or a driving distance to the North Shore beaches. We loved walking out to the end of Laie point each morning to see the sunrise. This property, however, is minimally appointed and has tenants above and to one side. Perhaps it was because of the holidays, but we constantly heard noises from above into the late hours of the evening. AC is provided, but placed in the master bedroom. I would recommend not trying to have more than four adults due to one bathroom and three beds.

The shack is OK, but could do with some updates. The photo of the bathroom isn't quite accurate -- the shower is behind a wall, not a shower curtain, with an uneven tile floor that doesn't drain quite right. Location is good, in a quiet and well-maintained neighborhood with a shopping center a few minutes walk away and beach access a few steps away. There were quite a few flies and other insects that visited the kitchen, although it was clean.

My family and I stayed here early January for 3 days, we felt a bit mislead as a title like ‘pineapple shack’ would entail a small shack-like structure which in reality is a basement apartment. There is a unit directly above which has dogs and kids active throughout the night and with non acoustic insulation. The location is next to none! Just wished the listing was more true to reality.

The location is good, just a short walk to the beach & an easy drive to North Shore or down to Honolulu. The Foodland supermarket is close by too. Check in was very easy with the keyless entry. Beach towels were provided which was very useful. The unit was suitable for our family of 4 adults, but 6 people would be a squeeze. There was the bare minimum of crockery & it was melamine - handy if you drop it or, but not great otherwise. All in all, we had a good holiday at the Pineapple Shack.

Simple and comfortable, the apartment is as described. The best aspects for us were being a short walk from a beautiful point to watch the sunrise in the morning with other folks who gathered there, and just a few houses down from a beautiful quiet beach with mountain views.

Great location, right by the point and right between two beaches. Very close to Foodland. If you come at night, call Katie cause it's hard to find and she is super helpful. I would only do one person on the fold-out bed cause you have to lie sideways to get comfy haha. Overall, exactly what we were expecting! Thanks, Katie.
