Neighborhood Overview
The house is situated between Avalon surf beach & Pittwater. Shops, cafes, restaurants, Pittwater Paradise Beach, Clareville Beach & Avalon surf beach are nearby. Early risers can walk down to Avalon Beach to watch the sunrise or it's just a short walk from the house to watch the sunset from Pittwater. Stand-up paddle board lessons are available at nearby Clareville Beach. It's also a popular BBQ spot.

Transit
It's a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to Avalon village & beach or catch the local bus from the stop opposite my house. A 15 minute drive will take you to Palm Beach. The Northern Beaches can be a difficult area to get around if you don't have a car, however, at Avalon village you can catch a bus to the city (L88 & L90) & Palm Beach (L90). The L88 & L90 will also take you to Mona Vale where you can catch a bus to Manly. There is also a limited bus service at the end of my street to the city. If needing to travel by taxi to an event, it is advisable to book in advance.

As well as the room & ensuite, guests have their own courtyard, entrance & off-street parking right outside their room. Laundry facilities are available on request.

Clean, basic accommodation and a convenient base during our stay in the northern beaches district of Sydney. Loved waking up to the sound of the birds! I recommend the short walk down to Paradise beach. Cathy, David and Max were great, and made sure we had everything we needed without making a fuss. Thanks!
Jun 27, 2019Cathy is warm and honest. The room is well priced, clean and practical. The bed is very comfortable, with a lovely new bathroom ensuite. The location was very practical for my needs, the breakfast was lovely, with a great TV to watch from the bed, and a lovely selection of teas and coffee.

The accommodation is beautiful, the bed was really comfortable with high quality organic bed linen. It was great to have a fridge in the room and delicious breakfast supplies provided. The area of Avalon beach is stunning. I cannot wait to come back!

It was clean, comfortable, practical and beautifully decorated. Bed was cosy and neatly arranged. You have everything you need: clean and private bathroom ensuite, wall-mounted TV and a delicious and healthy breakfast, which you can enjoy on a nice table outside the room. I would highly recommend this place to everyone staying in Avalon as it is perfectly located and well priced. We would love to go back to this quiet and lovely place soon.

Jun 27, 2019We stayed at Cathy's place for a friends wedding over the weekend and absolutely loved it! It was perfect for a comfortable nights sleep, very clean, nice and modern. Cathy was lovely, making sure we had everything we needed and then leaving us to it. We were running a little late so had to rush in and get ready before taking off to the wedding! The area is perfect too, just down the road from the shops and not too far to the beach. We will definitely be staying there again in the future if we are up that way and recommending to our friends. Her place was only a 10 min. walk away from Avalon beach and an 15 min. drive to the gorgeous palm beach. The room was beautifully decorated and clean.

We discovered the street we where on is not only close to avalon beach but also a stone through away from paradice beach - which is a small beach on the pittwater side of avalon. Stunning! Jun 27, 2019Cathy's fully self-contained studio apartment has the comfort and stylishness of an inner-city space. Step outside and you are graced with the stunning scenery of a wilderness landscape. Then head down to the Avalon shops and you have the atmosphere of a friendly village. I had the most magnificent mid-week break at Cathy's apartment. She and the sweet (and useless-as-a-guard-dog) Maggie were welcoming and friendly. I can not recommend Cathy's place enough. It was rejuvenating. I live in the centre of Sydney, needed a break, so I headed north. The landscape, neighbourhood, people, food, everything was wonderful. And Cathy's kindness and her beautiful space just made it perfect. I will be back. And soon.

A really comfortable stay, a short trip away to some amazing beaches! Cathy provided plenty of useful local tips during our stay including helping us figure out our plans on NYE in Sydney relating to public transport.
Jun 27, 2019We really loved our stay at Cathy's place. Location is very nice, close to everything but in a quiet surrounding. Cathy is a very nice lady who does everything she can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Everything was very clean and she provided us with stuff for breakfast, towels.. Such a shame we had very bad weather. Perfect excuse to return one time :) We can really recommend Cathy's place! :)

I loved the seperate entry to the room and so convenient being able to keep our car close by. Cathy looked after us so well, we are very grateful and look forward to returning some time soon!
Jun 27, 2019My boyfriend and I stayed at Cathy's property for 1 night whilst attending a Wedding in Palm Beach. The rooms was clean, tidy, presented beautifully and although we didn't eat it, there was breakfast (muesli, blueberries etc) in the fridge for us. Cathy responded straight away, was very friendly and I would recommend staying her property.

Decor in the room was tasteful and we had an enjoyable overnight stay. We really appreciated the very comfortable bed and bedding and the delicious continental breakfast. Car access was great and we parked right next to our room. The room was well fitted out with everything we needed. We will be back.
Jun 27, 2019As I was running a little bit behind my advised arrival time, Cathy checked in with me to ensure I was ok and to advise she had left a key for me, as she may not be home when I arrived. This simple gesture was very thoughtful and much appreciated. Cathy was a perfect host, making me feel very welcome and if there was anything I needed to just ask. The room was fresh, clean and tastefully presented, with everything you would need for a short getaway. The location was perfect, private, quiet and peaceful. Jun 27, 2019Cathy's room was just what I needed. It was clean, comfortable and quiet and only a few minutes walk from the sailing club where I was attending a wedding reception. It's not a big space but has everything you need for a short stay and I would readily recommend it. Cathy was great with her directions and communication leading up to my stay. Jun 27, 2019We had an amazing stay at Cathys place. The room has its own entry and is self contained with its own private bathroom, fridge and kitchenette. The place is very clean, bed very comfortable and Cathy was even kind enough to supply some fresh blueberries to go with breakfast. The location is perfect, we walked down to paradise beach which was gorgeous and 5 minutes away. Would highly recommend Cathys place for anyone looking for a weekend retreat!

The bed was so comfy with the nicest sheets. Cathy was very nice and we had all the privacy we needed. The provided breakfast of yoghurt, muesli and blueberries was so yum! Great little air BnB :)

Great to walk down to nearby Paradise and Clareville Beaches and watch the water craft on beautiful Pittwater. There was a warm welcome from Cathy, very helpful with everything. Jun 27, 2019Beautiful little private room with ensuite under the main house. Cathy has set the room up beautifully, in keeping with it's nearby beach setting. Good comfortable bed, nice bathroom, very clean and off street parking was offered right outside our door. In addition the room is decked out with lots of extras, a little breakfast bar, tea and coffee (espresso machine), a bar fridge with milk and breakfast items plus coathangers, powerboard for charging devices, travel books. It was more than we needed for a short one night stay to go to a nearby wedding but such a lovely touch. Cathy even left an outside light on and a note on our door for how to turn it off when we got home in a Uber after dark. Perfect spot to stay to explore Avalon, Pittwater, Whale Beach, Palm Beach, the Barrenjoey lighthouse. Would recommend for couples.

Jun 27, 2019The perfect experience for our first Airbnb stay! Friendly and effortless welcome with all of the info we would need to immediately feel right-at-home. Secure parking right outside our door and beautifully private. The room and facilities were immaculate and very well appointed, conducive to a very relaxed two weeks which my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed. Our host was always available for queries and a chat but never obtrusive. Avalon should be on your to-do list when visiting Sydney with world-class beaches on one hand, beautiful Pittwater on the other and boutique shopping and all the facilities one could require in between. Conveniently situated within easy reach of all of these, Cathy's cosy room is an ideal retreat, cool and quiet on a hot afternoon with the sound of birds and the breeze in the tall gum-trees to enjoy as you unwind. We look forward to another visit in the not-too-distant future, knowing that our stay would be just as pleasant and fulfilling as the time we have already enjoyed there!
Jun 27, 2019This was my first Airbnb and it was everything and more that we hoped for. The room was as shown and described. Cathy was very helpful including volunteering to collect us from the Palm Beach Ferry if required. Cathy was also very flexible with check in and check out times which for us was a plus. The room was set back from the road in a garden with beautiful gum trees with off road parking available and a bonus was to be right opposite a bus stop. Fantastic.

Her place is located in a quiet and peaceful street between The River/Paradise Beach, and Avalon surf beach - we were able to walk to both. A comfy bed, beautiful bathroom and great additions like beachtowels and brekky provisions made for a relaxing one night stay for us. Cathy was very kind in offering us tips on the local area and is quick to communicate with. Will definitely stay here the next time we look into a trip to the Beaches. Thanks Cathy!

Jun 27, 2019Cathy's airbnb is just perfect for a couple or solo traveler looking for privacy in a peaceful setting. With your own entrance, ensuite bathroom and the extra touches of soda water in the fridge, nespesso coffee machine, fruit yogurt and muesli for breakie and beach towels for use, it was a treat. The room was spotless, with modern bathroom and decorated beautifully. Cathy was even helpful enough to arrange a fan in the room for us prior to arrival as we had been having some very hot weather of late. Just fantastic!

So many beautiful touches, chilled water and a lovely breakfast which all made me feel very at home. Cathy was a really lovely lady, so easy to converse with. Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed our stay in Avalon with Cathy very much. Cathy coordinated with us when we needed to adjust our layover, and it was much appreciated. She is very responsive and accommodating. Her son was pleasant to talk to as well and was helpful with directions. The room looked great in the picture and was better in person. Very bright, white, clean, and prepared. All the amenities came in handy, as well: fridge, micro, and the light breakfast. Her place is near everything in the Avalon area, and the bus stop directly across from her place runs every hour and gets you anywhere you need to go, if you're like us and didn't hire a car. Avalon beach itself is a great holiday spot, with lots of shops in the village accross the way from the beach. and the nearby Palm and Whale beach make for a good getaway.

Our favourite spot being paradise beach for sun down. Which was very close to the house. The room was very well equipped with everything you need for a little break for two.

All the basics were there for a comfy safe place to rest our heads and have a wonderful and comfortable night's sleep. Cathy was a great host, and offered great suggestions for our time in the area, and even drove us locally for our errands on our departure morning which was unexpected and very helpful to us! We would stay again if the opportunity presents itself.

Jun 27, 2019It was a good short stay in Cathy's room, unfortunately we arrived too late (11PM) and departures too early (7:30AM) so the host and guests missed out each other, but Cathy left the door opened for us. For future reference, I would recommend the guests who drive to the host, to park their cars at Cathy's front yard, as I parked my car on the street just outside Cathy's house and got someone intentionally scratched my car doors.

There is tea and coffee provided, as well as a toaster and some fruits, yoghurt, milk, and muesli for breakfast. Cathy was a great host, and even picked us up from the nearest bus stop on our arrival! There are plenty of beaches, shops and restaurants around. Great place!

Jun 27, 2019Cathy’s place couldn’t be more perfect! The bed and linens were incredibly comfortable, the room was beautiful, and a fan was cooling off the room on arrival. It also included a beach bag and towels, little kitchen set up, even yogurt and strawberries in the fridge. Along with Cathy’s wonderful recommendations for food in the area our stay couldn’t have been better. I would highly recommend staying here!
Jun 27, 2019Great location, walking distance to Paradise Beach (awesome sunset), close to public transport. Cathy is friendly and a great host. Shops and beaches are a short drive away. The area is tranquil and I loved waking up to the sound of laughing kookaburras.
Jun 27, 2019This place is quite small as described but was exactly what we needed. The room is seperated from the rest of the house so is private and you have your own bathroom. Everything was clean and decorated nicely. Shower was very good and the place was nice and cool even when 40 degrees outside. Cathy was lovely and let us check in and out at our requested times. Location is great if you have a car with off road parking. If you have no car, the town and main beach are about 30 minutes walk and there is a quieter beach 5 minute walk away. This place was just what we needed!

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay with Cathy who goes out her way to ensure guests are comfortable and well informed.

Jun 27, 2019Cathy's place was a great choice. It is well located, not far from public transport, sparkling clean and quite cozy. She gave us quite a few tips on how to get around as well as to what to do and see. The breakfast provided is good an simple. Even though it is rightly described as pint sized we felt comfortable and didn't miss anything. Cathy was happy to help whenever we need it. Great value for money. Highly recommended.

Jun 27, 2019Great little space to stay if you're in this neck of the woods! 10-15 min drive to palm beach, so was perfect for us as we were attending a wedding there. Quiet location & while small, it has everything you need! Cathy is very friendly & accommodating to our early check-in request.

Jun 27, 2019It is a small room, and you have to watch you don't hit your head on the staircase. However, it was beautifully set out with a very comfortable bed, lovely homey touches and beautiful aromas, sparkling clean. It was very convenient for us and within walking distance of where we needed to go. Cathy is a lovely host and all went smoothly, it was just what we wanted.

Jun 27, 2019I booked the place for 2 nights and I really loved the place, all the basic items are all provided, there were even fruits and breakfast in the fridge, the place was very neat and clean, also having a very relaxing vibe. Cathy is a very nice host and offered to pick us up personally.

Great off-street parking and in an amazing tranquil location just up the road from the cafes and shops at Avalon. Thanks to the exceptional host for such a wonderful stay!

Jun 27, 2019This was a lovely, charming place to stay. I absolutely loved it. The place was very clean and comfortable and I immediately felt at home. The bed was very comfortable, and there was an electric blanket underneath the linens so the bed was nice and warm (I was here in the winter so this was REALLY nice to have). There was also a little space heater, so it was very comfortable. There was a lovely breakfast set-up with cereal, tea and coffee, and a water boiler. There were fresh flowers on the table and Cathy had written a nice welcoming note. Cathy also drove me to one of my events (I was here for a wedding) when Uber didn't work. It was a lovely stay and I will definitely stay here again if I return!

Jun 27, 2019I’m not sure what I can add - all the reviews are accurate - Cathy has created a delightful little spot. She has thought of everything. It was a great spot to stay for the night before going to a wedding at Currawong Beach. Very comfortable with lots of comfy pillows. You can hear people walking around in the house above but you would be hard pressed to find a quieter spot this close to Palm Beach.

Cathy’s hospitality was genuine and I found her to be friendly and easy to talk to. I also liked the warmth of the space and I felt very welcome. Would definitely stay again :)

Jun 27, 2019This was exactly as described, and Cathy's extra touches made it a really comfortable stay. The place was spotlessly clean, the bed linen was really nice quality, there was even shampoo and conditioner (which I appreciated, having forgotten to pack mine). I also really appreciated the extra touch of providing breakfast -- lovely muesli, greek yoghurt, fresh berries and milk, and Cathy got in touch ahead of time to see what kind of milk I preferred. Extremely thoughtful. Having stayed in a few places around this area, it was terrific to have off-street parking. All in all, it was perfect for my needs as a sole traveller in the area for business; I would happily stay here again anytime.

Some welcome additional touches like availability of muesli, tea and coffee. Location was great: just down the road from my daughter who I was visiting. A very satisfying stay.

The place was very clean and checking in/communicating with Cathy was made very easy. She even provided breakfast bits in the fridge for us which was a lovely touch. Jun 27, 2019Cathy’s place is a delightful gem. I felt I was staying in a cosy Greek studio...close to the water, beautiful trees and a leafy terrace to enjoy an afternoon drink. Cathy’s local recommendations were spot on: sunset at nearby Paradise Beach; walk to Clareville Beach; French restaurant in Avalon and local shops were all excellent. My three days were just what I wanted, sun, swimming, long walks in beautiful bush and a charming village...I felt re-energised. Cathy is the perfect host: welcoming but not intrusive. The breakfast coffee, yoghurt, berries and muesli were a wonderful bonus. Many thanks, Cathy.

Cathy was brilliant on being touch and available if needed, everything was very clear and straightforward on arrival. Would recommend highly and stay here again. Jun 27, 2019What a gem! just a few minutes from the beach and a short walk to the shops. Cathy pulls out all the stops in terms of hospitality, providing us with breakfast and even a coffee pod machine. There were even beach towels and a cute little bag to take with us to the beach. She even provided the much-needed and often impossible to pack pair of scissors, which came in handy for 2 people who had flown in. The room has everything you could need, a comfy bed and pillows, a fan, a TV and a fridge. The bathroom also has a large shower. All in all, a great place!
