I just moved into this brand new apartment in July. It has two marble bathrooms and four sunny bedrooms (all full size beds). It's located near Columbia University. Two blocks away from subway B, C, 1, 2, and 3. Five minute walk to Central Park.

The whole apartment is cleaned once every two days by professionals (after a few negative comments about cleanliness) , and clean bed sheets are guaranteed to be washed the day you arrived. Although the pictures can be slightly different from the real settings as I have multiple listings, cleanliness and comfort are guaranteed. Regarding my availability, usually I am around the area as I work/live in this area. However, I have streamlined the checkin procedure using passcode, so you can check in and out 24/7 without letting me know. I had a great time staying at Rui's. The room was very clean and neat, s well as the bathroom. Great place, I would definitely stay there again! He was also very helpful. I couldn't ask for something better!
Jun 27, 2019Apartment is in very good condition, in renovated building with elevator. Subway is within 2 blocks distance, as well as central park, which makes it very convenient location for exploring the city. Apartment has 2 bathrooms and 3 rooms, so you are likely to have good company while your stay. The host, Rui, is very anticipating, he provided us with some good advice on what to see and what to do in the city. He also puts nice stickers with guests names on the room doors, which makes communication easier. We had a very good stay, and will definitely consider visiting Rui again when in NYC

Jun 27, 2019Rui's place was very calm and quiet. Mind you, my partner and I weren't really "home" too often, exploring the city by day and only arriving to sleep. He provided everything from towels to shampoo. The two bathrooms really came in handy as well so my partner and I could expedite the time it took for us to get out the door. I recommend staying with Rui, if only for a quiet place to stay!

Jun 27, 2019When I arrived, the key was outside the door where he said it would be, the access worked, just as he said it would. All great. First floor was an added bonus. Entering the apt. I removed shoes, as requested. Floors are bright white. There is a central room (pictured) and it connects to four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Everything looked very new! So new that the TV still wasn't connected. Not necessarily a bad thing. Rui left notes around the apt. to point out bathrooms, bedrooms, shower operation, etc. Location is terrific! Walked to Central Park lake in AM. Cab and subway connnections are easy.
Jun 27, 2019This place has a unique vibe and look too it. We walked in and there are four bedrooms with two bathrooms. One bathroom being just for females and another for both female and male. The place is clean and has been renovated. The room was simple but had what is needed. A small desk with a chair and a full size bed with two pillows and comforter. The bathroom was clean and he provided towels for my room. The apartment is on the first floor so easy to access. I felt safe here but not much privacy because once you walk out of the bedroom your in the main area. I would consider staying here again because of the area it's in and I felt secure. His communication needs a bit of work but wasn't bad. I didn't get to personally meet him but wanted too. I don't think he lives here but just rents the place out to different people.
Jun 27, 2019The apartment is really clean and quiet, good privacy, transportation is convenient (<30min to anywhere in DT Manhattan), and Rui generously offered drinks and quality toiletries there. Wonderful experience.
Jun 27, 2019Rui (Ray) was very responsive to our needs. The apartment has been totally redone from floor to ceiling; everything is new - there are four sleeping rooms, two bathrooms, wi-fi, and a common room with kitchen and washer/dryer. A TV too, but it didn't work, probably because he had just moved the rental rooms from a third floor apartment to a first floor apartment and the move was so recent that a few details were not finished. The block is mostly residential and is very close to Amsterdam and Broadway for restaurants, groceries and subway/bus. It is very convenient.

Jun 27, 2019The room/apartment description is accurate. It was a clean, sparsely decorated place, with 4 small bedrooms, one common room/kitchen, and 2 tiny bathrooms. The location is convenient - close to 2 subway stops, various delis and restaurants, etc. I stayed with my 8 year old daughter and felt safe. The TV didn't seem to work, but not a big deal b/c we didn't spend much time at the place and we connected w/ the wifi. My only complaint is that the temperature was too warm - making the place seem very stuffy - but we ran the A/C unit while we slept and that made it more comfy. Rui was very responsive to all questions. A great deal for NYC!

Jun 27, 2019Die Wohnung war sauber und obwohl Rui abwesend war, hat alles hervorragend geklappt. Die Gegend ist etwas laut und für zwei Frauen etwas unheimlich, da sich vor allem nachts wenige Touristen draussen aufhalten und der Weg von der U-Bahn zum Haus durch dunkle Gassen führt. Die Wohnung ist im Erdgeschoss und man hat das Gefühl jedes Geräusch von draussen wahrzunehmen. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt sicher überein, würde mir aber das nächste Mal überlegen eher in Downtown zu buchen.

We needed a last minute place after being stranded in NYC after the snowstorm and Rui allowed us to check-in early and check out late the next day. 2 bathrooms made staying there an even better experience! Jun 27, 2019This was my very first Airbnb experience, and it went reasonably well! The first thing we received was a long list of instructions on how to get into and use the apartment, which was really helpful. It was good to have these things (like door codes) on hand at any moment. The apartment itself was minimal, smallish, and clean. The building seemed nice, and the neighborhood had plenty of things in the area to see and shop at, especially with regards to food/coffee/groceries. Biggest pluses: the room was private and sparse, even if on the small side. We stayed in Room 01, which we learned was the smallest choice (it was a first come first served style, with three or four rooms available). The apartment was cleaned virtually every day. It was quiet indoors, and we were almost never bothered by anyone else. There were two shared bathrooms, which was nice when needed. Biggest cons: The room is at ground level, and everyone walking by can be heard up and down the street. The room was SMALL but the other three rooms looked to be about twice the size (so choose them!). The living room space had a tiny couch and no chairs, so it wasn't really comfortable. The two bathrooms seemed less generous when there were six people in the apartment all at once. The toilets were specifically marked to not have ANY paper waste be deposited into them, which was annoying and gross. We were asked not to flush things like tampons and pads (a reasonable request) but also to throw out used toilet paper in the trash (which was not so great). Overall, it was a nice place with a weird rule or two. Choose the bigger room, and you probably won't meet anyone else staying there.
Jun 27, 2019My stay was absolutely amazing! It was my first time in New York and I wouldn't have had it any other way. The room was located perfectly with all my friends, access to the train, and local food spots. There was also instructions for everything and Rui was super responsive w/ any questions. I will def. recommend to other guest!

Jun 27, 2019Ray was a very welcoming and attentive host! The reservation process and explanations for getting into the apartment was very clear and detailed. The place was very nice - super clean rooms and linens, uncluttered shared areas and conveniently located. It was almost like being in a private hotel room, but at a much better price! We had a ton of privacy, only seeing other guests a couple of times in the evening. The type of guest that stays here is very responsible and friendly. It is conveniently located by the northern end of Central Park and very accessible to the subway systems - we traveled all of Manhattan from here easily. Plenty of great restaurants and shops in this area too. The keys and pass codes to the building, apt and rooms made us feel very safe. Although we didn't meet Ray in person, he went was extremely responsive to our texts and very helpful in getting packages and mail sent to the apt - we had forgotten a few things at home and had them shipped. It was invaluable to be able to do this. My husband and I would highly recommend this place to any visitor to NYC. Thanks for all of your help, Ray!
Jun 27, 2019The apartment is really nice, very close to Central Park and in a nice area. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms which is usually enough. The kitchen could use a few more tools, there is really not much there for example no can opener and only four glasses.
Jun 27, 2019Rui is exceptional at answering all of your questions quickly, and left detailed instructions so you can enter the apt on your own. The best thing about this listing is that it is flexible (for check-in and check-out), it is discreet, and it is in a convenient location close to the subway and to Columbia university. The housekeeper came by daily so it was very clean. My room was spacious. However, I did originally reserve a room with a desk and my room did not come with one.
Jun 27, 2019I arrived at check in time, no rooms were avaliable yet, but that was fine because I was planning on leaving and exploring. Ray helped clear that up which was awesome. When I came back, there was a room avaliable and there were clean sheets and towels. Bathrooms had extra soaps and stuff which was convenient since I forgot my shampoo. Great place to stay to stay! Wish he had more places in nyc!
Jun 27, 2019Overall, had a great stay at Ray's place. The location is perfectly situated near public transportation. The place is small but comfortable and the fact that it has two bathrooms is a plus. The only downside is that it is located on the first floor and street noise can be loud at times. One other thing is the lock on the door of the apartment is very difficult to open. I realize the host probably doesn't have control over this and this is also something common with NYC apartments but it definitely made it a bit difficult to access the apartment. Regardless, I would definitely stay again at Ray's place. Check-in is the easiest I've ever encountered on airbnb.

Although we emailed a few times before and during our stay, you were not very responsive. The apartment is clean and well maintained. Excellent showers and luckily quiet co-guests. The location is walking distance from Columbia University which made it an ideal spot to attend the graduation of our son.

Jun 27, 2019The location of this was great, very nice and very safe, however the apt was filthy and clearly hadnt been cleaned!! The apt was was much more like a hostel than an air bnb; the room was tiny (7 steps end to end to be exact) with no cups to drink out of and no plates or pots or pans to cook with, not to mention that the kitchen was little more than a fridge and a small line of cabinets. The Room The pictures of the room were not of the room and the room was both filthy and tiny with the bed being little more than an old and very uncomfortable spring mattress on a flimsy fold out sofa type base. The pillows too were old and flat. The Bathroom The bathroom was modern but disgustingly filthy with hair all over the floor All in all this was a hostel with the property owner not living in the property and instead renting out all the rooms!!

Jun 27, 2019Ray's place was overall great. Upon booking a room, I was sent a document with all of the instructions I needed for check in and check out. It was very clear and detailed and everything worked or as it should have. What I didn't realize was that the apartment was a four bedroom apartment; it felt a little like a hostel. However I only saw the other guests a couple of times very briefly. There were also two bathrooms so there was never a long wait for the bathroom (although I did have to wait a few times). Ray has a professional cleaning lady to clean the rooms before any guest stays and you will be provided with towels as well. I couple critiques I have is that the toilet paper in the bathroom could be better quality, and there should be hand towels and washcloths in addition to bath towels for guests. The apartment is on the upper west side so it takes about 30 minutes via MTA to get to Rockefeller center and closer to 45 to get to lower Manhattan. However transit is very close and we never had to walk far. Overall, I would recommend staying at Ray's place if you do not mind sharing the apartment with others.

Jun 27, 2019The location is great if you are looking for a residential non touristy neighbourhood. Central park is very close. The appartment itself feels more like a hostel. We have met many different guests during our stay. There are very few kitchen tools (like 2 cups for a 4 bedroom appartment). Rooms are quite small with limited possibilities to open a window. There is AC, but it is quite noisy. We appreciated that there are 2 bathrooms.
Jun 27, 2019Unfortunately we never met or even spoke to Ray (even through text!-- we texted him which room we chose to stay in and received no response). The apartment was very clean and we were able to find free street parking right outside-- although I'm sure not everyone was so lucky. When we got to the apartment around 12:30, we were able to leave our things in the living room until the rooms had been cleaned, which was very convenient. We didn't get back until late at night, so we took the one available room. Somehow, we either couldn't figure out how to turn the electricity on in that room (the rest of the apartment was fine) or it just wasn't working. Which, of course, meant that it was very hot, as well as no lighting. There were also quite a few nitpicky things that Ray insists upon when people live there (no toilet paper in the toilets-- what???). But in spite of this, I had a good stay. The apartment is in a good location and easily accessible to the subway. Essentially, it was just a place to sleep, and that was all we really needed.

While I haven't met Ray personally, he left a very detailed and diligent note explaining all that was needed for the room. Overall, I would recommend this place for a short visit to NYC.

I liked the neighbor, especially a shop that sells fresh carrot juice in the morning. Small room(I got room #1) and road construction from early in the morning were cons.

Jun 27, 2019The building is nice and requires code for entry. Something was up with the doorknob so we had difficulty getting in, luckily other renters were leaving so we were able to get in. The space is clean enough and I actually appreciate all the sticky note instructions because it makes things easier. Upon entry we smelled gas and realized someone had left the stove on so we turned it off. The bathroom was reasonably clean. The bedroom was very clean and he had a power strip so you can charge multiple things. You are meant to write your names and how long you'll be there on a sticky and put it on your door, but there were no working pens so we weren't able to do that. The next morning we woke up to cheese all over the kitchen counter and floor that my friend stepped in so that wasn't ideal. I guess the other renters were hungry in the middle of the night. Other than that our stay was great and I would definitely recommend staying in one of his apartments.
Jun 27, 2019Ray was really reachable before we booked and since we arrived. Once arrived in the place, we never met him, never received any call from him to inquire if everything was ok or not. This place is more to compare to an hotel with no reception desk and no service except the cleaning. It's just a business. Washing machine is out of order. All the old guest have left their food in the fridge but none knows because none cares. When we arrived TV was out of order but Ray can't know it as he doesn't come to his own place. Then wifi and internet went to be out of order. Ray was called but didn't do anything until I called and said that I was there to work... No any commercial gesture for inconvenience. He finally said that he has another apartment to rent in the 5th floor and sent us there to get wifi. Only one room of the 4 in the apartment has a table to work. This the one on the picture. One of the room had a door handle was broken which was not fixed... I have pictures of all what I wrote... If necessary. The spirit of Airbnb is to share with the owner or we can choose and hotel. If you want to do a business hotel ... Have a real reception desk with real commodities... You said that parking was easy, I spent 2 hours on arrival to find a park spot. Please explain what the signs means to foreigners... This could be really helpful. I m very sorry to have to write but this is the truth and reality

Jun 27, 2019This is a good place. You get what you pay for. It's a bit far from tourist areas, although near Central Park. Check the instructions before you get here, the host is not present and it was a bit confusing. It is three blocks from two metro stations so moving was convenient. The cleaning lady was very nice and made sure we were comfortable.

Jun 27, 2019Everything was very straightforward and simple. It's a great place to stay if you want to be near Columbia, and also very convenient by subway to the rest of the city. It's clean, the other housemates mostly keep to themselves, and exactly what I needed. The neighborhood is busy basically at all hours, although the street is pretty quiet.

Jun 27, 2019My fiance and I stayed at Ray's place for one night. There was initially a mixup on Ray's end, and he sent us to the wrong apartment (he has two in the same area). I understand how this sometimes happens, but it was late when we arrived and the mixup caused a delay when we were already very tired, which is why I'm taking one star off an otherwise 4-star experience. Ray's place otherwise suited our need for a clean place to crash after a long day. It is conveniently located (15 min walk) from Columbia university, and the check-in/check-out process is easy. If you are a stickler for extreme cleanliness, I would not recommend it for you, but otherwise, it's a good place for people who will spend most of their day out of the house.

Jun 27, 2019That the photos aren't exactly an accurate portrayal of what the place looks like. There were a lot of large boxes that took over the living room area. I understand it was all cleaning materials but this should be disclosed, as it didn't allow for a lot of breathing room. Felt very much like a hostel, which is fine but people should just be aware of that vibe. The bed was comfortable!

Check in was very convenient and we were able to leave our bags there before we checked in and after we checked out which was nice. We would definitely stay here again!

Jun 27, 2019The room was small but very clean and smelled very pleasant. There were two bathrooms in the apartment, very clean with all the amenities needed. A cleaning lady came every day to take care of the apartment. The location is great, five minutes walking distance from Central Park and Columbia University. Price/quality is on a very good level. Ray was a great host, sent all the instructions prior to arrival as well as some tips on where to eat. There's a good bagel place nearby (Absolute bagels).

Jun 27, 2019It's a professional AIRBNB place with all consequential amenities. Polyester sheets and a constant flow of people in your face, some less than savory. Also, cleaning ladies are there behaving like they live there (unless they do, then that would be awkward). Watching tv, cooking, lounging. Just annoying. Place is clean though.

Jun 27, 2019Place was good, walkable to Columbia which we needed, close to central park and subway, and lots of food options nearby. Check in and check out was contactless with lock boxes etc so don't expect to see the host, unless you have a problem I guess, but we didn't.

Jun 27, 2019I didn't meet Ray but he answered to my messages quickly. Everything was exactly as the desription. It was close to subways and bus, Central park, and restaurants and stores. The instruction Ray sent me before the trip was extremely helpful. I thought I read it thorough but I realized not when I faced the door. Don't forget that you need two different keys, one for the main gait and the other one for the apartment door. Also the way unlock the door is very specific as written in the instruction. So never enough to read the instruction before your trip! However, Ray answered to my airbnb message promptly, so things went easy. It was nice to be able to leave my luggages after check out for late flight. Overall I had a good stay in Ray's place.

Jun 27, 2019We stayed at Ray's place because it was near the start line of an early race (triathlon) I had the next morning and also well priced. It was convenient in location and Ray's communication was clear, timely and he was very available. The apartment wasn't as clean as I had expected it to be, when you walk in there is a hallway full of shoes as if a family of 5 lived in the apartment and dishes in the sink. Bathroom and bedroom were standard. The apartment certainly served it's purpose, I slept well and had a great race.

Jun 27, 2019Nice place, Quality of stay is high. Easy to reached the location and 200m to MRT . Only issue is owner is missing like not picking up the phone ever. Got reply after 1 day or more than 36hrs. Cleaning lady was very nice we met two days and she was helping us to find food places near area. i guess airbnb total business model is house/ room/ shared room with some host to atleast to give the key of the house or room.

We had a problem with electricity in our room ,so the conditioner wasn't working .Ray didn't respond to any texts and emergency number either .The only one person who helped us was Elizabeth .The Bath was full of someone's hair . Wi-if wasn't working for a day either .(we stayed there for a week ).Also when we tried to cook something the Fire alarm has been turning on all the time . People there were coming and leaving everyday ,and some of them were really loud ,and we couldn't sleep normally .

Jun 27, 2019I gave this place five stars because I don't want to effect his listing, everything was good enough but far from five stars, and I wouldn't stay here again. This place is basically a four bedroom hostel. While I was there for two days many people came through. It's very basic and cluttered. The owner does not live here. It is also a thirty dollar Uber to downtown where most things I wanted to do were. One of the two showers was broken while I was there so the first morning I waited for two hours before I could get in the shower and leave. The second day I got up early and they had fixed the other shower. The advertised washer and dryer was broken and looked as though it had been for a long time. This is an Airbnb farm and for the money you can find much better in this area or, in my opinion, a better area.

Jun 27, 2019This was basically like staying in a mini-hotel, and I mean that in a good way. It was clean, check-in was a breeze thanks to the very detailed instructions that Ray sent, and the facilities were good - two bathrooms for four rooms, a common area and a kitchen in case you need to cook. It even offered hairdryers and stuff like that. It's close to the 103 St. stop off the 123, B and C, and surrounded by lots of little eateries and stuff like that. I'd def stay here again.
Jun 27, 2019Rays place is good value and rather convenient location, it's great if you just need a place to sleep for a short visit as I did. The bed was comfortable and the place clean and it was a fairly quiet place and I did feel safe in that area. The only trouble was getting the first key out as it was high up and I'm small so I had to stand on my own suitcase to reach up to the lock as there was nothing else to stand on and it was hard to see at night. Other than that it was good.

Jun 27, 2019Good location and good price. However, if you need a good bed to sleep on, as we do since we are seniors, on this bed you could feel the springs. Tolerable for a few nights but not great. Also, communal area is full of garbage cans and cleaning equipment. But if you could put up with that, this place is a good value.

The area is nice but quite remote, nevertheless it was perfect for us for that one night as had plans the next day around there. The room we stayed at was clean but tiny, all the other 3 rooms were occupied that time. The common area was messy and cramped. Obviously once in NY one does not spend much time 'home' still I only can recommend this place for short layovers.

Jun 27, 2019Ray's place was good value and the room itself was clean. The location is excellent and very accessible. However the listing mentions free parking on premises which is not true. We had to find parking on streets and we couldn't find it and therefore had to pay 25 USD for the evening and 25 for the next morning. The house was a bit unorganised, and the bathroom was not clean. Overall, we got what we paid for. A little bummed about the parking inaccuracy in the listing though.

Also, there are some things that you can use freely inside the house, which are very useful. My friend and I had such a comfortable and satisfying trip, and I highly recommend here!
Jun 27, 2019Had a great experience here. This was my first time using AirBNB and I will 100% be using it again. I paid $60 a night to rent a room in manhattan, compared to the $200 market price for a typical room with half of the amenities. Ray's place had 3 other rooms for guests and 2 bathrooms- a lot nicer than I was expecting. It didn't even feel like there were other guests in the appt. He also included thoughtful touches like leaving shampoo and food for guests.

La posizione è ottima, a 5 minuti dalla metro e altrettanti per Central Park. L’unica nota stonata riguarda la pulizia, viene dato un solo asciugamano per tutta la vacanza, a prescindere dalla durata, e soprattutto i fornelli della cucina sono rimasti sporchi per tutta la settimana nonostante la donna delle pulizie venisse tutti giorni. I bagni invece erano piuttosto puliti, così anche le lenzuola. In generale però la pulizia della casa non è eccelsa. Dovessi tornare a New York sicuramente soggiornerei di nuovo qui.
Jun 27, 2019Ray’s place is a decent enough place to stay in for a couple of nights. The rooms are basic ( bed, night stand and desk) and a cleaner comes daily to clean the common areas like the bathroom and dining and living room area. The common areas aren’t well styled so don’t expect a fancy living and dining area. But all amenities you need are there. Table, chair, microwave, mini kitchen. The bathrooms are nicely done though, if not a little small. But at least there are 2 bathrooms to service the 4 rooms. Bring earplugs as the walls are thin and if you stay in the front rooms, you will hear the conversations of all the passers by on the street.

Room could hardly fit two people and bed not very comfortable. Probably best for younger adults/backpackers than us middle aged B and B users.

The house was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. What did it for us was the amazing AC system that saved us from the nyc heat. Definitely recommend others to stay here!

Jun 27, 2019I'm thankful all we did was sleep here. Aside from being in a good location, there were many things misleading about this listing. First off, there is NO free parking on the premises. He is referring to the street parking outside his apartment. You do not learn about that until after you book and it is too late. Secondly, the instructions the host sent us after booking were very long, poorly articulated, and left us with the impression that he wasn't suppose to be renting his place out as an airBnB. Getting in was like trying to get into an escape room. Many combinations and locks AND the door to the apartment was very janky and taped together. Additionally, the space is not as nice as it appears in the pictures. The common space is messy, very dark, and NOT air conditioned. Not comfortable to be in. The room we booked was astonishingly smaller than the pictures. The only thing that I will say is the bathrooms are very nice and the only redeeming quality. Last of all, the space is shared by many people, not including the host (which we never even saw by the way). There were at least three other people in the apartment in addition to my boyfriend and I. This became problematic in the morning when trying to get ready on a time crunch, even with the two beautiful bathrooms. It was quite frustrating. Overall, I wish I read the reviews before booking this listing because I would have absolutely looked elsewhere. Because of the "free parking" LIE we had to pay $90 for a parking garage space which threw off my budget for my entire trip. Know what you're getting into if you book this listing.

Jun 27, 2019We came in for the weekend to New York and this was the worst Airbnb stay we have ever had. We had an early flight and luggage so, we had clarified with Ray if it was okay that we checked in a little early and he confirmed that it was okay for us to keep our luggage in the common-area and keep our luggage there. An hour into us checking in the maintenance person showed up and yelled and swore at us for being in the common area. I mentioned that I had clarified this arrangement with Ray weeks ago and she said that she did not care. Things got so bad that my friend and I almost left the Airbnb and booked a hotel because we were worried things might get violent. This was at the very beginning of our trip and really put a damper on our entire trip.

Also it was very noisy outside and whenever someone was in the bathroom, you could hear the water pipes loudly and I could not sleep. I did appreciate the amenities in the bathroom (good soap, shampoo and conditioner)! Ray was very quick to respond to messages which I also enjoyed.
