My host Jermain went out of his way to make things really comfy for me during my stay. The listing was as described if not better. Neighborhood is plenty safe. Again, awesome family, awesome experience and will be back some where down the road im sure :)
Jun 27, 2019The listing was accurate, the rooms are newly decorated and refurbished. The rooms are 5 star quality, it has A/C, the TV has Netflix, and the location is close to the Prospect Park subway station, there are numerous restaurants close by. Jurmain was an awesome host and was very quick to respond to any questions. Towels, soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste were provided. The entire place is immaculately clean. It was a great experience! A+++
Jun 27, 2019Jurmain is very friendly and courteous. Me and my friend got delayed by traffic and checked in 3 hours later than planned. The room is spacious and clean. The apartment is very close to the subway station. We enjoyed our stay in Jurmain's place!
Jun 27, 2019Apartment is located a short 5 minute walk from the the nearest train station. As far as the neighborhood for those whom haven't been to NYC its as safe as can be. Never once felt uncomfortable walking late at night back to the room . Host was very attentive to neatness and cleanliness which is a major plus so don't worry about any critters. Host also would also check on you if you needed anything or to simply ask how the stay was so far. Very nice gesture. Room has wifi, a/c and you have access to the kitchen if needed. Bathroom supplies are also provided for use. I would stay there again for sure on my next visit. Stadium is also very near yankee stadium for those planning to attend games which was my main reason visiting nyc.
Jun 27, 2019It was a great experience. The apartment is clean, well-stocked, and super close to the subway station. Jurmain was very nice and he helped us however he could with navigating the city , making us feel comfortable, giving us air conditioning, etc..
Jun 27, 2019The listing is so accurate. The house is so neat and spacious. Jurmain and his dad are amazing hosts; they gave directions and suggestions of where to go and how to get there. There's a big supermarket where you can get all the groceries you want. The train is just few minutes walk and links to Manhattan and Brooklyn easily. The host was so nice to let us use his landline to call for cab. He even gave cab numbers and addresses. My sister and I had a great time staying at this apartment and will surely stay there again next time I'm in the States if it's available.

Jun 27, 2019We came back from a wedding really late and needed to stay in the city because we live far. It is also our first time using this app as well so I had no idea what to expect and it was a great experience and he was very very accommodating to say the least. I felt very welcome and comfortable and he even offered us water when we got there which was definitely on my mind lol. Overall the night went great and the toothbrush soaps etc. provided were an unexpected plus for us. Also everything was simple and really clean I'd definitely stay there again anytime highly recommend this place
Jun 27, 2019My husband and I wish we could give Jurmain six stars! Not only was he fantastic, but the room was beautiful, comfortable, and private. His father is charming and Jurmain is just the nicest person. And travel is so easy! We were in Central Park about twenty minutes after stepping out his front door. Honestly, if you have the option to book here, do yourself the favor and make it happen! Would book again in a heartbeat!
Jun 27, 2019Have you ever been to a hotel you felt welcome and at home in? Well that's the Wielingen! On a serious note, we had a great time and Jurmain and his father were wonderful hosts. Everything in the description is precise and Jurmain went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The neighborhood is quiet, the main subway across Manhattan is 6min walking distance, and even late at night the Bx6 bus stops within 30 metres of the apartment. Everything was clean and well equipped (including fresh towels toothbrushes etc. if needed), the bed was very comfortable, the room is cool by itself even though it was scorching outside (but has AC), and most of all... the kind nature and ready availability of our hosts made for a great stay.
Jun 27, 2019We just stayed for one day at The Wielingen, but we could not have found any better host than Jurmain. He waited patiently, even though we were around one hour late, made sure every thing was nice and clean, offered us refreshments and generally was a perfect host. If you ever visit NYC, stay at the Wielingen, and don't be discouraged by its location in the Bronx, we felt save and secure, for our stay!
Jun 27, 2019Jurmain was lovely and accommodating. He left chocolates under the pillow which was so sweet. The neighborhood is pretty deep into the Bronx, if you take a cab calculate in about 40 dollars from Manhattan to your budget

The location is safe, I felt a little bit scared at the beginnig but never felt uncomfortable walking back during night. We will stay there again when we come back to NYC.

Jun 27, 2019Llegamos a la casa de Jurmain y nunca nos abrió la puerta, luego le llamamos muchas veces a su celular y nunca contestó, aparte de esto el sitio parece inseguro, mucha gente fumando marihuana en las esquinas y de mal aspecto. Pasaron los días y nos toco conseguir hotel en otro lado con unos precios elevados, Jurmain nunca mas volvió a aparecer y nos quedo debiendo el dinero que pagamos por esta aplicación.

Jun 27, 2019Jurmain was very welcoming and communication pre-stay was good. The heat in the apartment was very difficult to cope with throughout our stay and wasn't able to be altered. We found our interactions with Jurmain's father to be uncomfortable at times and he was very particular about the rules in the house. We were aware that he would go into our room while we were out which we were not particularly comfortable with. During our stay the curtain rail came out of the wall in the bedroom and a bedside ornament was broken. Jurmain and his father were not accommodating of these incidents despite us replacing the ornament to the best of our abilities. Generally we felt uncomfortable in this setting and chose to leave earlier on our final day than anticipated.
Jun 27, 2019Jurmain was very responsive to all my questions. The room was as depicted and very clean, spacious for my purposes. The neighborhood was a little intimating at first, but found it to be a safe place to walk, with the bus stop only two blocks away.

The location is good, two subway lines are close to the apartment that lead right into the city. I would definitely stay here again, and I recommend it to anyone staying in New York.
Jun 27, 2019Jurmain is an excellent host - he warmly welcomed me into the house. I loved Jurmain responsiveness and instant interaction. He is just up there - responding to any question within a matter of minutes. The room matches the description. Bathroom is clean, with clean towels. The location is excellent - the ideal walking distance to public transportation: buses and trains. After Jurmain had checked me in and assured I had everything I needed he quietly disappeared giving me whole of privacy. I would definitely book his place again or recommend it to a friend traveling to NY and wanting to stay in the Bronx.

Jun 27, 2019This place is awesome! Although it's in Bronx and the train ride to Times Square is about 30min, its worth it. Jurmain, his brother and dad were super helpful and welcoming. The room was so cute and the walk to the subway is less than 5min plus my boyfriend really wants to go back there lol! Before the stay I read the comments of some ppl saying that the neighborhood can seem a bit sketchy (and it can seem like that especially for someone like me - a Scandinavian first time in NY) but my boyfriend and I thought that there's really nothing to worry about. All in all - i totally recommend it!
Jun 27, 2019We had a wonderful time with Jurmain at his Bronx apartment! The apartment was spacious, super clean and well equipped with everything a guest might need :) The room was large, the bed was comfy, the shower was strong and hot and the location was convenient and easy to find! Jurmain was a warm host who shared his experiences of NYC with us and who was always up for a chat or to answer NYC questions. The only thing a guest might need to be aware of is the five or so flights of stairs to get to the apartment. We had backpacks so we were fine but guests with suitcases may struggle when they first arrive. Thanks for a a wonderful stay! Let Nick and I know if you are ever in Australia!

Jun 27, 2019Jurmain is a very nice host. We felt very welcome at his house and the room was very clean (just sometimes a bit too hot in it haha). If we needed help with anything he was here to help us. He showed us everything we wanted to know on a map and was very kind. When the Phone of my friend was stolen, he helped a lot even after we left New York. He even drove us to the Newyark Airport for only 50$ (a taxi would have been 100$ or even more). Just start early enough - I nearly missed my flight :P Thanks for this great accomodation. We would definitely recommend to stay there.

Jun 27, 2019This was my first experience with Airbnb. I was unsure about how it would be staying at another persons home. But as soon as me and my girlfriend arrived, I felt at ease. Jurmain, is a wonderful host, he even gave us complementary toothbrushes and soap, and we had our own silverware and bowls. Jurmains hospitality, and natural and easy going personality along with the energy of the house made it feel like a getaway. Two thumbs up for this place.

Although I did not meet Jurmain, his constant contact was much appreciated. He and his brother, Quincy, were very hospitable. I look forward to staying there again the next time I'm in NYC.

Jun 27, 2019I felt pretty at home. At first I felt strange because This was my first time experiencing Airbnb, and I did nit except the residents to be present through oUT our stay. However, after a few moments that feeling left I was completely comfortable. The experience made me feel like I knew them, or as if I was visiting family. They were very nice, conversational and peace. I really appreciate how clean and organized the place was. The location was perfect for what I needed, very closet to public transportation and less than 15 minutes away from Momma's Hip Hop Kitchen event that I was attended, so that was great.

Jun 27, 2019Just a 5 minutes walk from the metro station (prospect ave) and 35 minutes ride to downtown. We felt really safe in the neighbourhood. Jurmains father makes sure that the flat is clean all the time :) also Jurmain is a very friendly host who makes you feel very welcome. The room is exactly as described - cozy and quiet spacious. It might be helpful for folks to know that the apartment is a 4th floor walk up and, for the night-owls, the directly east facing.
Jun 27, 2019The apartment was beautiful and the all of the hosts, Jurmain, his brother, and his father, were all incredibly accommodating. The room feels safe and private and is stocked with everything you might need when traveling: towels, soap, and a toothbrush. The room and apartment are very clean. The only downside is the heat: the heater in the apartment seems to never turn off. But there are ways around that: the window can be opened and there is a cooling unit in the room that can be used. Overall, this is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it.

Jun 27, 2019We had a wounderful stay at the Wielingen. I strongly recommend this place for any stay in NYC. You won't get a better value for your money! The place is nice, neat and spacious and Jurmain and his dad are great people to meet. Walking through the Bronx ain't a problem since the metro station is close by - the way takes only five minutes on two main streets. Been here with my girlfriend after living for three months on the upper eastside and, sure, it is different - but i didn't feel afraid aboy my girlfriend and me at any time. Jurmain is a superb host - always nice, friendly, calm and super-responsive prebooking AND during your stay. You can ask him or his dad about anything you like and they will always make your stay even more comfortable than it already is. This includes tips for your stay, but also the possibility to use their personal pc and printer; his Dad even offeres me to borrow his car and, for a low wage, Jurmain would even bring you to the airport when your stay ends. All in all i can state: i had a lot of doubts about staying in the bronx with my gf. but they all turned out to be unreasonable and i am more than glad that i stayed with my decision to spend my vacation at The Wielingens - great place, great people!
Jun 27, 2019We had a pleasant stay at Jurmain's place. The place was very well-kept and clean. When Jurmain wasn't there, his father kept the appartment. Jurmain was very courteous by texting us to ensure we were all right. The appartment is 5/10 min away from the metro station, however, it took us often 1 hour to get to midtown/lower mahattan as express trains were not always available.

Pleasant experience which is hotel-like I must say. 2 and 5 trains were the bane of our existence though- they were doing lots of track work which made getting back at night tough

Jun 27, 2019We spent in NYC only 3 days so we were looking for calm and clean place to sleepover. The Jurmain's place provided us everything and even more. The photos which you can find here, are pretty accurate, the room offers everything one can need, including towels, soaps and even toothbrushes. The bed was really comfortable. The neighborhood is safe. We asked a few people for direction there, and everyone was very nice and willing to help. It takes a few minutes to a subway station (where you can get a direct connection to Lower Manhattan), just like is written in the description. To sum it up, Jurmain, his father and their place made our stay really pleasant. We definitely recommend.
Jun 27, 2019It was generally okay. The neighborhood was not looking like very safe. We had to go there around 11pm and we didn't feel safe. Subway station is very close, 3 blocks.. Host was helpful and the place was silent. However, our bed sheets weren't clean. Host told us repeatedly that he will replace it but when we get in our rooms at night there were hairs of previous guest. The other thing that prospective guests should consider is that the apartment is at the 5th floor and there is no elevator.

Jun 27, 2019Nous avions prévu de visiter une partie de la ville avant d'aller pour la première fois dans la chambre. Jurmain nous a laissé la possibilité d'arriver à l'heure que nous voulions. Il nous a ensuite laisser les clefs pour que nous puissions aller et venir comme bon nous semblait : grâce à cela, nous avons pu visiter Manhattan de nuit. Jurmain et son père sont très accueillants et chaleureux. Son appartement est à proximité d'une bouche de métro avec une ligne directe vers Times Square. Cet appartement est vraiment très intéressant pour ceux qui veulent visiter Manhattan ou même voir le Yankee Stadium.

Jun 27, 2019Jurmain and his Dad were very kind and accommodating when our flights were cancelled and put our arrival time 8hrs later than planned which meant we arrived around midnight. Their apartment is spotless, as was our room, they made us feel very welcome. Unfortunately we did cut our stay short as the neighbourhood and travel distance to main sightseeing areas of NYC was too far for our liking. This is absolutely no reflection on Jurmain as the room was exactly as described, and he was absolutely lovely. Pack light, no lift in the building.

Jun 27, 2019Non abbiamo incontrato Jurmain personalmente perchè era fuori per lavoro, ma siamo stati accolti da suo padre e suo fratello, che sono stati fin da subito molto disponibili ed amichevoli. L'alloggio era molto pulito ed in una posizione comoda, vicino 5-10 minuti dalla fermata della subway, con linea che porta direttamente a Manhattan. Il quartiere dà l'impressione di non essere molto sicuro di notte, anche se devo ammettere che c'è sempre qualche pattuglia della polizia nei dintorini e che a me ed al mio compagno non è mai accaduto nulla di male in 5 giorni di soggiorno. Nel complesso l'esperienza è stata molto positiva.
Jun 27, 2019I am a 4th year medical student, and I did a rotation in nearby Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, and I stayed with Jurmain and his family for 30 days. Over the course of that time, I felt right at home as if I was part of the family. The space was as described and listed, and the home is kept immaculately clean by Jurmain and his father. They are attentive to anything you may need, and have been very helpful to me throughout a difficult hospital rotation. The neighborhood is safe and I had no issues in the time I was there, and I was often coming and going early in the morning and late at night. The location is a quick 10 minute walk to the 5 train for easy access to Manhattan. I would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation.

Jun 27, 2019Great clean apartment and great space. Jurmain's dad had a plethora of information to help us get around! There is no elevator and they are on the 5th floor, so recommend packing light. Bed was a little extra firm, but we slept well.

He was an amazing person and very informative. the house was better than what I expected and we felt comfortable and at home. The privacy was very well in the house and we did not feel uncomfortable at all.

Jurmain was such a great host,easy going,ready to answer any ours questions about NYCity. The appartement is impecable - clean,warm,cozy...Our room was big,well heated and bed super comfy ! With a little luck we found parking on the street.Location and neigborhood is quiet,safe and subway station is about less then 10 min walking distance. Thank you for having us !! What has to be mentioned is how clean everything is. All in all: Lovely place and you can't beat this price performance ratio.

Jun 27, 2019Jurmain was one of the best persons I ever met. He went out of his way to make me and my cousins feel safe. I was in Bronx for an interview and everything ran really smooth. The house was super clean and house rules were followed appropriately. I was so very thankful to him for coming all the way downstairs to get us. If you are staying in this area, Jurmain offers the best accommodation and a real sense of home! All the best to Jurmain for his future guests.

Jun 27, 2019The place is ok if bathroom is not the cleanest thing you want during your stay. The room was clean. My main issue during the stay was the bad conversation I had with Jurmain's father and overall bad experience i left the place with due to this. Before i booked this place, I had confirmed with Jurmain that if it would be ok if I collect my bags late in the night on the checkout day as my bus back home was at 12 am. He had agreed with that saying it should be perfectly fine if I checkout on time. And hence i booked his place. However his father kept arguing that how it is not correct to do that as his place would look dirty because of this! And I should pay extra if i have to keep the luggage after checkout. He kept arguing even after I told him that jurmain had agreed for this. Ultimately, i had to carry my luggage with me and put it in another storage by paying 40$. While i was completely polite during this conversation, I didn't feel the same. He kept rudely talking to me about that. Overall, i would not recommend this place and would rather pay 20 bucks more to stay at a decent hotel. My first bad experience while booking through airbnb!
Jun 27, 2019The place was ok, Jurmain and his father where helpful.The main issues where the neighborhood, bathroom and the bedsheets. There was only one bathroom for everyone (5 people) and the bedsheets where not changed for the whole time of our stay (10 days)!

Jun 27, 2019I didn't get to stay at his room that was available but air bnb still charged my credit card and I couldn't get the refund back but jurmain was good enough to meet up with me and give me my money back cash which was greatly appreciated. The man knows how to keep his clients happy lol! I will definitely rent again from jurmain!

Jun 27, 2019The home was immaculate and Juryman and his father were very friendly. As others have said, it is a walk up 5 flights of stairs, there is no access to coffee in the morning, so keep that in mind if you NEED coffee in the morning. Other than that it was a great experience.
Jun 27, 2019Enjoyed the stay here; the place was clean and the host was great to communicate with. It was great to use a private bedroom/ bathroom at this reasonable price, especially in NY area. The only thing to note is that personally it did not seem like the safest neighborhood, but the place itself was safe and clean.

Sie sorgen sich für deine Sicherheit in New York und das Appartement war sauberer als viele Hotels in Manhattan. Im grossen und ganzen war das bis jetzt der sauberste und netteste Anbieter auf airbnb, welche ich besuchen durfte.

Jun 27, 2019Stephan und ich hatten eine tolle Zeit bei Jurmain. Die Wohnung entspricht den Bildern-alles gut. 5 Stock ohne Lift. max 10 min zur U Bahn. Der Bruder und der Vater waren auch ab und zu da. War supernett und unkompliziert. Gute Lage um New York zu erkunden.

Jurmain's place is very comfortable and super clean. Jurmain helped me and my wife with everything. The train station is just 3 blocks away and you can go from the house to time sq in only 20 minutes.

Jurmain is a gracious host who made sure I had everything I needed and took interest in what I would be doing in NYC. When it was time to check out Jurmain offered to get a drink in the city if I ever returned.

Jul 27, 2019Jurmain is a very nice host. Only one thing that bugged me during the time was parking. I know it's tough for parking inside NYC, if you come early enough, there will be some space for you, but if you are late like us (9pm), it was really impossible to find a parking spot. I still think Jurmain's place is a nice getaway for NYC.

Jun 27, 2019The Weilington is a spacious, well decorated home just two blocks away from the subway station. This was my first airbnb experience, and Jurmain and his brother went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We immediately felt at home at the cozy apartment. The place is located just a few blocks from the subway station making daily trips to Time Square and the rest of NY easily accessible. Jurmain gave us great tips on what to see and was very helpful when we asked to check in early. His response time was also quick. Overall, we had a great trip made even better by our amazing hosts. I'd definitely stay again during my next NY trip! Thanks guys!

Jun 27, 2019The room and apartment was neat and clean. The shared bathroom was very clean with towels, soap, toothpaste and toothbrush provided if needed. No coffee or breakfast provided, but use of the kitchen and dining room was available. Jimmy and his father were kind and accommodating. We were asked to remove our shoes once we entered the apartment. The apartment is up five flights of stairs with no elevator. We would stay here again. The price was reasonable.

Jun 27, 2019If you are looking for a place to sleep, then you will find it here. The room was basic and the hosts kind and mostly kept to themselves. There are 5 flights of stairs, that I am not sure were mentioned in the listing. The bedding could use a more thorough cleaning as well as a full set of sheets. In general we were comfortable and the wifi worked well.

The space is close to supermarket, laundry and subway station. Coming by car and arriving before 6 pm you park close to the place. Jimmy is your father are communicatives and welcoming.

Jun 27, 2019Jimmy and his father were very gracious hosts. We were greeted by jimmy and immediately offered a glad of water. The bedroom, bathroom, and apartment were very clean. We were supplied towels and soap and We used the fridge for our left overs and the over to heat them up. jimmy invited us to use his dining and living areas and let us watch Netflix! The area looks questionable if you are not from New York or are unfamiliar with the Bronx, however, the neighbors were beyond friendly and we always felt safe walking to the metro stop. The metro stop is a few blocks away. We ordered food from a few places on line and everything was AMAZING. Overall an awesome stay, thanks jimmy!
Jun 27, 2019Not as advertised. Host was not there and had his brother haphazardly set up the room. Floor is dusty, there was no fitted sheet on the bed! I had to sleep on top of the comforter as a result. No SOAP and toiletries as advertised, big black spot on the wall. Could have been nice if care was taken to set up the room as advertised. I brought my cousin to the city for her birthday and was embarrassed. I only had a one night stay and didn't realize the extent of it ( like no fitted sheet) only when I was literally about to get in the bed. Host my typically do it right per older review. But it was extremely sloppy. If you book here make sure you check these things first and I'd suggest his brother not set up the room as it was clear he didn't know the expectations listed on the Airbnb.
