1. Great Vacation Retreats is not affiliated with the onsite management. Please contact us directly with any questions, maintenance issues or concierge requests. 2. Hawaii has a new smoking law which allows smoking only in designated areas outside of any building, 20 feet away from doors. Our units and lanais are all non-smoking. Please use the designated areas if you wish to smoke. They are usually located in the parking lot of the building. There is a $300 fine for smoking in our properties and the State of Hawaii may also impose a fine for not smoking in the designated areas. 3. Please wash off all sand from beach gear and your body before re-entering the units. Outside showers are available at most beaches and outside of most properties. Please do not hang beach towels, swimsuits, etc. from lanai railings. 4. Because we are in a tropical environment, there are insects. Please keep all food covered and stored properly. This will help to discourage roaches, ants, geckos and spiders

The location was extraordinary, with the deck cantilevered over the ocean, we were able to watch turtles feeding throughout the day. The crashing of the waves were the best part of this location, as it lulled us to sleep each night. Other guests were respectful and quiet during suggested quiet hours. Challenging to find at first (in the dark), but once we got the hang of the route, a great location to serve as 'base camp'. The amenities of the condo were adequate (plenty of bath shampoo/body wash/conditioner, toilet paper/paper towels, etc.) Laundry supplies were provided to wash two loads, so we had to buy more (especially after hiking the north shore one muddy day). The common area pool was wonderful and a great place to hang out and watch for whales. The management was friendly and helpful. We would definitely return here on another trip to Kauai.
Jun 27, 2019Amy, as usual comes through with an awesome one! This is an amazing place to stay. Whales passing by every day... Turtles swimming under our private deck that sits over the ocean, literally. One of the best places I have stayed!!
Jun 27, 2019Our stay was unfortunately disappointing. The place lived up to our expectations as far as view and location, but unfortunately fell short when it came to cleanliness. We ended up staying two out of the nine nights we had reserved. Fortunately we were able to find a clean and lovely place to stay the remainder of our holiday. The transition was stressful and we were charged the cleaning fee despite the fact that was our major issue. They rental agency offered to send people to re clean while we were there but unfortunately issues like black mold in the tub cannot easily be cleaned. Wish I could have given a better review but this was our experience. Working with Amy's team prior to our trip was easy. They responded quickly to my e mails and I appreciated that.

Jun 27, 2019Everything was really wonderful. Lots of information in advance of my trip and as my arrival got closer. The setup with the management firm meant that the apartment was available even when I arrived a few hours early. The apartment itself was really great, it's hard to say that it had a good view as it was located right in the middle of the view. Wonderful to be so close to the ocean. I really couldn't have found a better location for a much needed getaway.
Jun 27, 2019Hi Amy, What a wonderful way to spend time on the Island! We have traveled for many years to Hawaii and we stay in Resorts. This was our first experience with condominium living. We loved it. Coming home everyday to a place that was ours, quiet , private and a meal prepared by us. The ceramic tile flooring felt wonderful on our feet and the furnishing felt very comfortable. Entertaining here in the evening was easy and fun with the convenient BBQ area nearby. We loved falling asleep to the crashing waves. Mahalo for our first Airbnb stay. We are convinced this is the only way to stay Hawaii now ;-) !
Jun 27, 2019Our stay in Koloa could not have been better. The condo was perfectly situated and stocked with everything we needed. The lanai was a huge bonus and we spent many hours enjoying the views of sea turtles below, whales in the distance, and even a few spinner dolphins - not to mention the stunning sunsets. We enjoyed many activities, but still had such a relaxing time. Thanks for the nice bottle of wine for celebrating our anniversary. We certainly hope to come back and stay here again.

Jun 27, 2019Gorgeous views and amazingly close to the ocean. Location is perfect - right down the street from a few restaurants and shopping centers. Pool is fantastic! Nice and warm. Perfect size for a couple. Well stocked kitchen. Washer dryer was a HUGE life saver. Rental office staff very friendly. Constructive feedback: The door handle needs to be replaced. Worn and difficult to use. One window didn't shut. Was about a 4/5 for cleanliness. Some tables weren't too clean and we found a dead bug under the counter.

Jun 27, 2019The condo was clean and the kitchen was well-equipped. The lanai right next to the ocean was perfect for sunrise and sunset watching. The hosts were very friendly and responsive. It was great to come home to a quiet spot on your private lanai to relax and enjoy the ocean views. A world of difference compared to staying at a large resort regardless of the hotel's star rating.

Jun 27, 2019Poipu Shores 101 B truly is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The views from the condo and private Lanai are absolutely breathtaking. You don't just have an ocean view, you are ON TOP of the ocean. Everything about this place is magical and I will definitely be staying there again.
Jun 27, 2019We loved staying at 101B through Great Vacation Retreats! It was a perfect place for our Honeymoon. It had the perfect amount of space, and was very clean and comfortable. The private deck (shared by the room next door) was such a treat. We saw turtles below the deck everyday and even caught a glimpse of reef fish. We would definitely book through them again on our next trip to Kauai!
Jun 27, 2019This is a great place and we loved our stay! It's less than a 10 minute walk down to Poipu Beach and you can't beat the views! We enjoyed many breakfasts, dinners, cocktails and morning coffees out on the deck. The deck is shared with only one other unit so it's super private and exclusive. It was the envy of other guests at the complex! The pool is also right above the sea cliffs which is cool on its own but is also very well maintained and great for afternoon dips while listening to the sound of waves!
Jun 27, 2019My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at GVR's Poipu Shores 101B! The best aspect, of course, is the oceanfront lanai. We spent most of our time out there watching sea turtles swimming nearby or enjoying a glass of wine at sunset. Overall, the unit is exactly as pictured. The folks at GVR are also very responsive which we appreciated. A few items worth noting - the space wasn't as clean as I'd expect (floor of the bath tub is stained from so much use and front door handle needs replacing, there were also stains on the pillow cases of the bedding). There is also no cell service in the unit. This was difficult for us initially as there was a storm during our first day/night which disconnected the wifi from 3pm until about 10am the next morning (a fairly long time after the rain had stopped). We got our iPad and my boyfriend's cellphone to connect to the wifi afterwards, but my cellphone was never able to connect. A bit inconvenient for me, but since we had the iPad it wasn't detrimental to our trip. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend to anyone. The lanai can't be beat!
Jun 27, 2019The location is wonderful. The large sea turtles and big waves crash below the deck. It is a few blocks from poipu beach. There are many restaurants a short drive away. This is about 25 minutes from the airport. The condo itself is cute, efficient, and peaceful.
Jun 27, 2019We didn't book Poipu Shores 101B originally. We booked a different condo managed by GVR, but as soon as we landed in Kauai, we got a call stating that the condo was no longer available. Poipu Shores 101B was offered as an alternative. Poipu Shores had lots of issues for us, especially since we were traveling with a toddler. We ended up leaving after one night and found a better place down the road for the rest of our vacation. Poipu Shores 101B is probably ok if you're just looking for a comfortable bed, not traveling with a child, and can put up with a fairly run down condo with no cell service. The pool was very dirty also. Our main issue with GVR is that they listed (and confirmed) a unit that wasn't even available to rent. That was very frustrating to deal with during our vacation, especially since we were traveling with a toddler.
Jun 27, 2019Great location by the sea. Turtles, whales and close to Poipu beach. The only negative is the sound of the waves hitting the rocks outside the windows made getting to sleep a challenge and early rise when the sun came up due to the bamboo blinds.
Jun 27, 2019Location is beautiful but the condo was not clean and was full of thousands and thousands of dead bugs. We had to scramble last minute to find new accommodates cause it was too disgusting to stay there.
Jun 27, 2019The view is spectacular. We loved sitting out on the lanai. We saw about 5 turtles, stings and dolphins from the lanai. You are walking distance to the beach which was nice. The ac was broken when we arrived but the hosts were on top of it and had it fixed in no time.
Jun 27, 2019You must stay at 101B Condo - this place was truly amazing. It was very clean, GREAT location to nearby beaches, snorkeling, food, and local attractions and we had all the amenities we needed. We woke up every morning, ate breakfast on the private deck/balcony and watched the sea turtles right outside the door to the condo - pure happiness and awe inspiring! The hospitality was warm and inviting and Great Vacation Retreats's were so responsive with communication.
