You can smoke outside, if it is to cold to smoke outside you can smoke in our entry way (leave front door a bit open and close the second door).

I am very happy to say that I was Alicia's first Airbnb Guest! She was very welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean and it had a small desk, lamp and a closet. Along the halls of her house and even in the room she has her artwork hanging. There are many things in her are and she is very close to the train which is a plus. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Jun 27, 2019Alicia und ihr Mann sind 2 ganz nette, hilfsbereite, unkomplizierte und offene Gastgeber. Die Wohnung ist ca. 30min. von Downtown gelegen, aber gut mit der Bahn zu erreichen, welche sich keine 5 Minuten fussläufig von der Wohnung befindet. Die Bronx würde ich als Alleinreisende Frau mit europäischem Aussehen, zumindest abends nicht unbedingt empfehlen, auch wenn grundsätzlich die Nachbarschaft sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit war.

Jun 27, 2019This was by far the best Airbnb experience yet. Check-in was simple, right off of the train line. Alicia and her husband were there and welcomed me immediately and gave me some great tips about getting around. The place was clean, warm, and the bed was comfy. I almost forgot: Thank you for my welcome shot! During Halloween Alicia invited me to a Los Muertitos celebration and I had a blast. This host was the sweetest I have ever seen, and I look forward to coming back!

Jun 27, 2019I almost did not choose to stay because it was far from Manhattan. But I think it was worth it - groceries and bars within 5 minutes walk. Quite neighborhood. Excellent hosts. Very kind hosts - gave me enough personal space and were willing to share local tips.

She creates beautiful artwork that adds a mesmerizing aesthetic to the place and she is very attentive to the needs and interests of her guests. I had never visited the city for more than a few hours, so I didn't know much about it, besides what I had heard. She made many suggestions of places to go and things to do. I would recommend this space to anyone who wants to have a pleasant experience upon visiting NYC.
Jun 27, 2019I stayed 4 weeks in this room and Alicia was present only the last week. But she took care that her husband was present on my arrival. She is very lively and concerned that everything was ok. The room is as in the picture: small, in a semi-basement. Be aware that the place is dark and the small window cannot be opened (fresh air through the fan of the AC only). There are non common area to speak of. Be aware that the kitchen is under video camera, if you feel uncomfortable with it. The area is safe and extremely calm (besides loud music upstairs during the week end, which was fine for me). Very close to the 6 line, 45 mn to Union Square. Shopping facilities more than enough for daily needs.

Since the weather was cold, Alicia took steps like giving me extra blanket and turning up the heating to make sure I had a comfortable stay at her place :) location is great and super close to the subway, awesome!

Jun 27, 2019The location was great a 2 minute walk to st lawrence station gets you to central manhattan in 30- 40 mins approx. The area is also very nice i was initially concerned about staying in the bronx but even late at night i felt safe walking around there are shops everywhere a laundromat and lots of restaurants and the food is cheaper than manhattan

Jun 27, 2019This is a great deal. Its location is only a block off a train stop (5-blocks from the express line), and Alicia's recommendation regarding a nearby coffee shop was 'spot on.' The Bronx may be some distance away from the 'action' area of Manhattan, but the no. 6 line provides easy connections to the numerous other lines serving Manhattan.

Jun 27, 2019Great little place in a vibrant true-New-York neighborhood! Very close to the 6 train with very easy access to Manhattan. Not totally spotless or bug-free (it's a basement apartment), this place probably isn't for someone looking for a hotel experience, but it is a great value and a real, authentic New York experience. Recommended for solo travelers in need of a comfortable bed with easy access to Manhattan.

Jun 27, 2019This is my second stay with Alicia whom I met for the first time, It was again a very pleasant stay i liked the place and the room was very comfy it even had a fan to keep me cool. The area was very nice with families and children playing outside late into the evening which made the area feel very safe. There are laundromats and places to eat nearby and the subway was a 3 minute walk away. All i will say is get to know the subway system it would make your stay even better.

If you need a cheap, basic, clean room and don't bother to be far away from the city center this room might be a good decision.

Jun 27, 2019Alicia, Ivan, their two (Hidden by Airbnb) and visiting friends made me feel at home in their space and warmly integrated into their circle of friends. the occasions when they invited me for beers or art at a cultural event gave me wonderful insights into a world very different from my own, it felt like crossing a great divide but being met with open arms.

The room was comfortable and they have Netflix in the room, which is a nice touch. Alicia and Ivan are amazing hosts, I'd definitely recommend staying with them!

Jun 27, 2019I Moved To NYC From Upstate For Work And This Room Was My First Airbnb. I Was Nervous About Booking It Because I Didn’t Know How Airbnb’s Worked! When I Checked In, Alicia Wasn’t In Town. Nor Was She In Town During My Entire Stay. I Got Comfortable With The Area Very Quick Because Soundview Had Alot Of Restaurants & Stores And It Was A Quiet, Friendly Neighborhood. The Location Was Perfect For Me! Nicki (One Of The Roommates) Introduced Herself To Me & Was Sooo Helpful During My Stay- Shes Super Nice! Nicki & The Other Roommate Had Schedules Different From Mine, So It Was Convenient. I Wouldn’t Recommend This Airbnb For Stays Longer Than A Month, Due To The Fact That Theres Two Other People That Permanently Live Here Besides Alicia & Her Husband. Also This Apartment Is In The Basement, So I Never Had Service When I Would Talk To My Family Or FaceTime Them. But Other Than That, My Stay Was Decent For It Being My First Airbnb & Me Having To Budget My Money. It’s A Good Room To Learn The Bronx.

Jun 27, 2019the stay was lovely, the room was a great size and came w/ it’s own ac/unit and you got a key to have access to the home whenever you’d like. it was in the midst of a lot of restaurants and amenities. my only issue is that the owner was completely unreachable, I tried to contact her many times during my stay and could not get in touch at all.
Jun 27, 2019This Room smelled like body odor and bed linen was not clean. Bathroom was dirty and room was dusty. Had to sleep with light on because there was too much activity outside. I had to buy 2 plastic bed covers and my own sheets. Not a good first time experience.
Jun 27, 2019Nice clean place for economy accomodation. It's quiet enough, with a lot of the fine Alicia's paintings on the walls and nice neighbourhood. During all my visit I hadn't any problems. The host was very attentive, I'm very grateful.

The neighborhood is a very authentic experience of the Bronx and I would suggest staying here if you are a solo traveler with plans to explore the city.

Jun 27, 2019Had a pretty good time while i was there, came in whenever and it was silent , never saw alicia but the other host was nice , right next to 6 train so that was perfect the area was ok, i felt safe enough and for the price you couldn’t beat ! Would get something close to city next time but for what its worth it’s a bed and desk, if you’ll be out most of the time you’ll be good ! Also the other airbnb guest ( a man ) was helpful didn’t get his name

Jun 27, 2019I had a great stay in Bronx! The house wasn't modern, of course. But it was quite clean, especially my room was very neat. The hosts obviously take care of the place. The people living there are extremely nice and helpful, I felt totally welcome! The only downside is the neighbourhood. Actually all the people I've met on the streets were really nice, but it's still a ghetto and you don't feel that safe at night. But that should be obvious. As a woman traveling by myself I would'nt come home late in the night alone at least. But besides a recommendable place to stay in a diverse area of NY.

Jun 27, 2019I’m happy with my stay. Nice and friendly neighborhood, have no problem even when I’m walking back from subway 4am. Alicia wasn’t there but she keep check on me every now and then just to make sure all is well. Ivan is there to help me and he is a friendly guy which I enjoy talking to. I would definitely come back and stay here again the next time I visit NYC again.

Jun 27, 2019With a last minute work trip there’s not much time to look for a place to stay, luckily I found Alicia’s place. The area is close to the train, stores, and it’s in a good area. The “no curfew” rule works great especially for those on vacation who want to hit up night clubs. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Hosts were amazing and very undertanding and helpful even after my plane was delayed. Thanks for everything guys, see ya soon....

Jun 27, 2019If you are an ex-Nu Yawka or enjoy the vibe of a New York neighborhood, this is a good place to stay at a very affordable price. The bathroom and bedroom were clean and I was provided with everything I needed with plenty of privacy. Walk one block and you will find everything you want from the multitude of stores and restaurants. I will come back on my next trip.
