Summary

Space

Great apartment in the heart of the East Village furnished with internet, 42" flat-screen TV, dishwasher, washer/dryer, modern kitchen & bathroom, full set of cookware, premium cutlery and dishes, hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and exposed brick throughout. AND...a roof deck! The deck is a dedicated section of the building roof just for my apartment and that has a table, chairs, umbrella and BBQ with views of the Empire State Building and the Freedom Tower. I have also recently added (not in photos) cushioned lounge chairs that are perfect for relaxing in the sun. Sightsee in the morning, tan in the afternoon. Location is perfectly located a block from the subway and within a five minute walk of roughly 100 bars and restaurants. Recently ranked 37th best restaurant in the world, Momofuku Ssam Bar, is a 3 minute walk. I'm more than happy to make many bar and restaurant recommendations or suggest sightseeing activities. Apartment is up five flights of stairs, so unfortunately it's not han

Notes

Transit

The apartment is a 2 minute walk from the L train and less than a 10 minute walk from Union Square (a major subway intersection). Most major tourism destinations are under $20 by taxi. But really, when it comes to food, drink and culture, there isn't much that you can't walk to easily.

Lovely clean apartment in a really great location. It is quite compact but perfectly comfortable, the roof garden was a very nice addition. The host was quick to respond and very accommodating. I recommended highly.

This place is a real gem!! My friend and I stayed for a week and enjoyed true East Village life in this wonderful apartment/neighborhood. First of all the pics don't do the place justice - it's very bright, a true 2 bedroom with full kitchen, washer/dryer and even a bath tub! Windows in each room and as you can see a killer roof deck. Very close to the L line but we ended up walking everywhere most of the time. Andrew was an amazing host - he was super responsive, provided a clean place with everything we needed for our stay and even offered suggestions on where to go for the best happy hour drinks :) key exchange was very easy and Andrew was extremely accommodating regarding our arrival and departure times. Bottom line: This is a great place to enjoy the vibe of the East Village and Andrew is an excellent host!

Andrew's East Village apartment is nice, clean, and modern. The photos don't do it justice! All of the furniture, fixtures, appliances, flooring, and walls are modern and new. The bathroom especially was very clean and new looking. It's in a great part of East Village. It's very convenient to the subway, bars, restaurants, groceries, and stores. Drew and his roommate provided excellent advice for local food and drink. It's an ideal size for 2 or 3 people. We were a group of 4 adults, and although it felt slightly cozy at times, we definitely felt comfortable! The rooftop deck is amazing, especially during sunset! It's very large with lovely views of the city. The trade off for such a useful and beautiful deck is that the apartment is on the sixth floor of the building. Be prepared to climb them every day! The apartment was well stocked with linens, towels, toilet paper, dishes, cups, utensils, and more. Andrew let us use his new and nice appliances: dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, stove top, and clothing washer/dryer combo. It was so convenient to have access to all of these! For technology, the apartment has wifi, a nice flatscreen tv, and an Apple tv. We slept peacefully each night. The building is not noisy at all and we cannot hear the neighbors. We also slept comfortably; the double air conditioning is strong and refreshing! Check in and check out were a breeze. Andrew and his roommate are informative, communicative, and generous hosts. Please don't hesitate to inquire about the apartment! You'll be glad you did!

We had a perfect stay in Drews appartment. The location couldn't be better. Lively East Village setting with plenty of places with good to excellent food. Nice bars and coffee places and friendly young folks in the streets. Drew is a great host and checking in and out was a breeze. I definitely recommend Drew's appartment and will stay there again.

This was the most fabulous place to stay, right in the heart of the East Village with wonderful shops, bars and restaurants right on the doorstep. The apartment itself it just lovely, exposed brickwork and wooden floors, and the roof terrace is a wonderful place to watch the sun go down. We didn't actually get to meet Andrew, he was out of town for most of the time we were there, but he made it incredibly easy to pick up the keys and then emailed us with top tips of where to go to eat and drink. I would highly recommend this apartment, and Andrew, in my opinion you really couldn't do better for a place or location to stay in.

Great place to stay in the heart of the East Village with great shops, bars and restaurants right on the doorstep. It's very convenient to the subway. The rooftop is amazing. Rooms clean, just a little noisy in the large room. It's easy to keep the keys. Andrew is very accommodating.

When my friend and I were planning to go to New York we were agreed that we wanted the following: our own rooms, a clean place, good assess to Public Transport and for the flat to be situated in a fabulous neighbourhood. We got all this and more. Drew's flat is comfortable; the sofa was a haven after all the hours of walking and shopping. It's an attractive place; to me the internal brickwork is so redolent of New York. And really, having access to a roof deck is something quite special. I am so glad that we stayed in the East Village. It has all the qualities of the kind of area I like: relaxed and exciting, well connected, eclectic but not overly 'hip' and most importantly - plentiful with a variety of great places to eat. Drew was a wonderful host, he was quick to respond to the booking and was always on hand to provide information. This is a great place, in a great neighbourhood in a great city. I'm looking forward to going back some day.

My friend and I had a great time in New York and staying in this apartment really made a positive difference to the trip when compared to previous times I have stayed in a hotel. It's true, it is like being a native New Yorker! Drew is a fantastic host with just the right amount of input as required and always responded very quickly to emails and queries. He was flexible and great to work with. The apartment is in the East Village in a great location with lots of restaurants and amenities within a 5 minute walk. The area is safe, even at night, and always buzzing. The apartment has a living room, 2 bedrooms (1 double bed, 1 single) with a small kitchen and bathroom. It was clean and bright and of course the roof deck (up a flight of stairs) was wonderful- particularly sitting up there on Drew's furniture watching the sun go down on the NY skyline! The only downside is that it is up 5 flights of stairs and I certainly had to take a breather near the top. Also, there is Apple TV and Netflix/ HuluPlus but no 'basic' tv channels- I quite like to watch ESPN Sportscenter in the background, but then again you are in NY and won't be sitting around watching much tv anyway. I would recommend Drew and his apartment highly.

The apt is very nice and located in a perfect area! Lots of bars and great nightlife. It is one block away from de subway so you can get anywhere you want really easy. The rooftop is very nice and i thinks it is what makes you want to stay there despite the 5 floors by stairs. Andrew was a great host. He was out of town but still managed to help us with some things that weren't at the apt at first and we needed. My only criticism would be that the apt wasn't very clean. It was super tidy! But some things haven't been cleand for a long time. Other than that it was the perfect experience, we really enjoyed our stay there! Thanks a lot drew!

Andrew's apartment was perfect for our stay in NYC. It's in a nice but definitely less touristy area in NYC so you get to experience the city in a more authentic way. The apartment itself was clean and provided everything which was necessary. It was perfect that we had separated rooms so you have more privacy after a long day in the city which is also very nice. We also loved the rooftop as you can experience the skyline in a unique way with a perfect sight at the empire state building and the freedom tower. Andrew himself was also very acommodating and helpful. He provided us with tips and restaurants and responded quickly. Overall, the experience was perfect. The apartment was clean and in a very nice and safe area, Andrew was nice and very responsive. Both things contributed to a very nice first trip to the city. Especially the surrounding was outstanding. You have to travel around five minutes to be in Brookylin and maybe 10-15 minutes to be in Downtown. This was also a great aspect about the place.

The apartment is situated on the last story and there is no elevator: if you have any reason to have trouble with this (young children, health problems...), it's probably best to look elsewhere. The apartment is small but nice and absolutely clean and well tidied. Andrew left some coffee for us upon my demand: I suggest him to always make breakfast basics available to guests (coffee, tee, sugar), as well as cooking basics (salt, oil, vinegar). Finally, Andrew was very reactive when communicating with him, and helpful.

Leaving a 4 star rating for a 3 star experience because Andrew did his best to remedy an uncomfortable situation and re-credited some money back to my account for the inconvenience. THE GOOD - Andrews place is perfect for a quick getaway to NYC. The downtown neighborhood is a great place for people who are looking to experience the city away from the tourist traps in midtown. Check in was a breeze. His place was extremely tidy with comfortable beds and was plenty enough room for the 3 of us that stayed for the weekend. He was extremely thoughtful to leave a list of food/drink recommendations out for us as well. THE NOT SO GOOD - Upon our arrival, after walking up five flights of stairs with all of our luggage, we entered an uncomfortably hot apartment. It was almost 90 degrees in NYC that day, and had been in the 80's for the past several days. After looking around, (and also referring back to the airbnb listing to verify that we did indeed book a place with air conditioning) we found two window A/C units stored on a shelf in the second bedroom. They were too high and too heavy for us to reach on our own. After calling Andrew, his initial response was that it was unseasonably warm for early May, and that me being from Baltimore meant that I was accustomed to hotter temperatures than New York. Baltimore isn't south of the equator. It has comparable temperatures to New York, maybe +/- 5 degrees. I knew to pack for hot weather, my friends knew to pack for hot weather, and as a host he should have been better prepared for the hot weather. It was extremely uncomfortable getting ready for dinner that evening, as Andrew was not able to come install the units until 9:30/10:00 that night. I feel like I also need to add that Andrew did not have a spare key to his own apartment. This would have required us to either cancel our plans and wait for him to arrive, or to leave all of our belongings unlocked inside the apartment. As I stated before, this was very much a 3 star experience. I personally would not book this listing again. But Andrew did attempt to make the situation right by reimbursing me for the inconvenience.

A great stay in East Village New York. Andrews apartment was in a great location near all the bars and within walking distance to most NYC attractions and subways Andrew was a friendly host who welcomed us to the apartment and provided us with his tips on where to eat and drink. The beds were comfortable and rooms air conditioned.

Great stay! Clean apartment, working air conditioning units! The view from the shared deck is great - remember there are 5 flights of stairs, but the view is worth it! Great spot for some time in the city.

Drew’s place is in a great location and is in a relatively quiet area. The place was very clean and well-kept and comfortably housed three of us (and one extra for a night) while we attended a conference in NYC. Communication was prompt and easy. No complaints whatsoever. Drew was clear that the apartment is a walk-up on the sixth floor, and this was no problem: the stairs justified an extra slice of pizza.

Andrew was an exceptional host. Check-in was very easy and Andrew would respond to all questions I had within the hour. Andrew prepared a list of recommendations in the neighborhood and provided a very clean household. There were plenty of linens and towels available. The location is in a great neighborhood and the rooftop has great views of the city. Thanks Andrew!

The location of this apartment is ideal for those looking to enjoy the restaurant and cocktail scene in the East Village. The apartment was well equipped with AC, bed linens, towels, and a bluetooth speaker. The rooftop deck is a great space that's rare to find in NYC. The neighborhood is quite and very accessible via the "L" transit line. Andrew was a wonderful host.
