Absolutely perfect. Margaret and John are lovely and made the stay even more memorable. Thanks so much.
Jun 27, 2019Beautiful and unique property with great hosts. The breakfast spread was very welcome and the surrounding property has some lovely walks. Would highly recommend visiting the river as well. Many thanks for a wonderful stay!
Jun 27, 2019A wonderful experience and a great host. Margaret went out of her way to make us feel welcome and to make our anniversary special. Her and her husband take great pride in the train and their property and made us feel right at home. A really great experience.
Jun 27, 2019We had such a lovely time at this charming authentic train carriage. The train car had so much history and was such a unique place to stay and is nestled in a tranquil green setting surrounded by trees. From the moment we got there Margaret and her husband were welcoming and gracious hosts. The little touches were fantastic and the fixings for breakfast were a welcome and lovely surprise. I would highly recommend this place.
Jun 27, 2019This property was a little but out of the way but that only added to the experience. Tucked away amongst the trees was this gorgeous train carriage. I loved the attention to detail, both in the train refurbishment and with the breakfast. Loved staying here and would highly recommend it to everyone.
Jun 27, 2019This is a gem, and we will most definitely return in future. Not the cheapest accomodation by a long shot, but considering the class and character of the reconditioned railway carriage (actually suprisingly spacious, except for the kitchenette), the beautiful forest location - its a good deal. Margaret and her husband is a friendly and engaging couple, provided quality breakfast ingredients and just took great care of us. We particularly enjoyed inviting 9 people over and entertaining them at the pavillion !
Jun 27, 2019A very exciting experience. We have never before slept in a 1st class bedroom in a 100 year old train wagon situated in the bush. We can certainly recommend a stay in Margaret and John's well preserved wagon. Also we were treated more than good, and we had a joyful and interesting night together. Thank you Margaret and John.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret was a great host. The train is beautiful and so are its surroundings. Great getaway just out of Sydney. We cooked up a feast on the BBQ which Margaret helped arrange. We will definitely be coming back
Jun 27, 2019This was my first stay through AirBNB and thanks to both Margaret and John, you were very welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and completely loved the carriage, my daughter would have enjoyed it and I was wishing she was there with me. I would definitely recommend your carriage and I would stay with you again. The fridge was well stocked and although I didn't have breakfast it was all there if I had chosen to have it. Thanks so much for having a wine with me I really enjoyed the whole experience.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret and John are the nicest and most helpful hosts I met so far. Since I didn't have a car Margaret offered me several times to take me to town. She also helped me move all my belongings on the the day I moved into my new home. John and Margaret also took me out for dinner with their friends, which was a really lovely evening. The property is very beautiful, there is trees everywhere and a lot of nice sitting opportunities to hang out. You can go for walks and do bicycle tours in the surrounding forest, there is also a river not to far away. The carriage is a very special place to stay. There are so many unique, beautiful and old details and everything works very well (lights, shower, wifi...). The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and Margaret had set fruits and filled up the fridge. The bed is super comfy and even got warm heating blankets. I would love to return to the carriage which was my nest for about a week. Thank you so much Margaret and John!
Jun 27, 2019My partner and I had an absolutely lovely stay in Minto. The property is beautiful and the train was such a unique and fun place to stay. Everything we could have needed was either provided or minutes away. My only hope is that we can come back again some time soon :) Do note that you will definitely need to follow Margaret's directions. (Hidden by Airbnb) maps has no clue how to find this place!
Jun 27, 2019The carriage was an absolute delight to stay in. We were there two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. It had been beautifully restored and the hosts had clearly invested a lot of thought and effort into creating a one of a kind step-back-in-time experience. The hosts were very warm and welcoming, and were an incredible source of information about the train as well as the surrounding area. The food provided for us to use, along with the presentation of the in-carriage dining table really gave it that extra first-class 20th century touch. Although shops were conveniently located a 15 minute drive away, the property is isolated giving the carriage a very embedded-in-bushland glamping feel. One of our best Airbnb stays to date - would definitely recommend.
Jun 27, 2019My boyfriend and myself spent a night at Margaret's train carriage. It was absolutely charming and cosy. The carriage was pretty big and had everything we needed and even a few surprises. Margaret is such a great host, she did all the necessary to make our stay perfect. She was available as soon as we needed it, offered us a lovely breakfast and set a fire. We had a beautiful romantic weekend. We definitely recommend it and thinking of going again some time.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret had the carriage warm and ready for us with lovely supplies for breakfast and more. Although it took some juggling to prepare our meal the first evening we got into the swing of it and indoor-outdoor was part of its charm. We loved the bush surrounds (how could it be near suburbia?), the fire pit on our last night and the warmth of hospitality and conversations. Margaret went out of her way to care for our needs while respecting our privacy and space. We definitely recommend the Carriage and all the location has to offer.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret and her husband well very welcoming hosts in making us feel at home . The train carriage was lovely to stay in and amazing nature at which they stay on with some lovely little Bush walks down by the Creek. Would love stay there again with lovely genuine down to earth people ... Who treated us with some home made apple pie before we left .
Jun 27, 2019Margaret was a lovely, welcoming and warm hostess that made our special weekend away that much nicer. The train itself is set on a sprawling 9 acres of bushland and there is a warm fire for the cold nights and great outside cooking facilities.
Jun 27, 2019Two words: luxury & value. This place is beautiful, warm, and private. Margaret is a generous host and easy going.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret was such a welcoming and lovely host, her communication was great and she was so helpful catering to my arrival times. The train itself is beautiful and felt like i was taking a step back in time. They have decorated it brilliantly and it is rather spacious and very comfortable. She was even nice enough to supply some goodies for a nice breakfast! Would definitely recommend this place and will go back again!
Jun 27, 2019Margaret was very easy going and accommodating.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret was the perfect host. The carriage is beautiful and Margaret and John have done an incredible job at restoring / keeping in great condition! It feels like a piece of history. I took my partner here as a birthday gift and it was better than could have been expected... We felt so welcomed, and there was such attention to detail and we even had fresh coffee and a bowl of blueberries and strawberries! The area is also beautiful and great for walking. Would definitely recommend and it would make a great gift.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret and John were welcoming hosts. The train carriage was lovely with everything you need including quality linen and comfortable bed. The bush setting was a delight to wake up to with easy access bush walks. I would definitely recommend.
Jun 27, 2019What a beautiful, magical place to stay. Set in bush land this wonderful railway carriage is all romance and charm. Margaret and John were lovely hosts. A fantastic peaceful getaway from the city.
Jul 27, 2019Generous and helpful hosts. Loved the carriage, loads of character.
Jun 27, 2019Loved the novelty of staying in the carriage. Lovely bush setting. Extremely generous in the breakfast food provided. Margaret and her husband were very kind and generous people. Thank you for your hospitality. Julie
Jun 27, 2019Such a lovely place with such lovely people! Very warm and welcoming to me and my Film crew. It is definitely a place I would love to come back, but next time will be for a vacation for sure! Thank you so much for your warm and kind service you have shown us on the day!
Jun 27, 2019Margaret was exceptionally helpful from when we first booked our trip! Even though she was away the weekend we were staying she organised for a friend to meet us and gave us all the information we needed before we arrived. She also left us fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as food for breakfast which was a lovely surprise! The railway carriage itself is a wonderful space and full of historical touches. It is easy to see that a lot of love and work has gone into the carriage and it truly felt like a home away from home. It was very relaxing waking up right next to the bush, and located a short drive away from shops and other bushwalks. We also loved getting to meet Margaret's dog and puppies! We look forward to hopefully staying at the railway carriage again in the future - perfect for a weekend escape from the city!
Jun 27, 2019Great place to stay, plenty of character and lovely hosts, will definitely be back! Thanks Margaret
Jun 27, 2019Delightful hosts who went out of their way to be welcoming - even picked me up from the station when the taxi didn't show. The accommodation is delightful, filled with memorabilia and collectibles, comfortable and containing everything one could ever wish for. The bushland setting, puppies and parrots add another dimension! Just loved it.
Jun 27, 2019Location, location, location. We are North American residents and stayed two weeks. From Minto Heights, the train station and local mall are only ten minutes away. The train ride to Sydney is only about an hour, the drive to the Blue Mountains about two hours, to Illawarra about an hour-and-a-half, and to Canberra, about two-and-a-half hours. It's a perfect location to see much of the Sydney-Canberra area. Staying in a converted railcar is a unique experience. It is not like a standard apartment and some of the spaces are a little quirky. John and Margaret are excellent hosts and we found nothing wanting. Our stay was both comfortable and pleasurable. We would return in a minute!
Jun 27, 2019Lovely place. Margaret and John were really friendly. Wish we could stay longer. Will be back soon!!! Thanks guys for having us.
Jun 27, 2019Margret and John were very accommodating. From bush walking tips to where to get a bite. We enjoyed our stay.
Jun 27, 2019A very special place, set in an Australian bush setting and a unique and interesting experience spending the night in a converted train carriage.
Jun 27, 2019An amazing unique experience, with great hosts who thought of everything. We will be back to enjoy the beautiful scenery. It is a very special place!
Jun 27, 2019Margaret is a generous host who respects your privacy yet unobtrusively ensures that you have everything that is needed, including generous breakfast provisions. We stayed several weeks whilst waiting to move into our new home and although the bathroom and kitchen are compact they are functional and we soon adapted to cooking and boiling water for washing up in the indoor/ outdoor kitchen. The shower has plenty of hot water but once again is compact. The bed is comfortable and the living area quite spacious. Train enthusiasts will particularly enjoy checking out the many original artifacts that decorate the spaces. The accommodation is located a few kilometres from the train station so a car is recommended. There are some beautiful bushland walks leading to the George's River that are well worth exploring and Sydney is about 50 minutes by train. We would highly recommend Margaret's place, especially for short stays. We loved the convenience of being close to everything yet being on the edge of bushland and the river. We also enjoyed interacting with Margaret's three dogs that live on the property and look forward to returning when we return to the area.
Jun 27, 2019Very authentic. Nice rural safe location, you wouldn't believe you were 10 minutes from Campbelltown. Great hosts and very private. Looks like they are adding a small conductors office, and the friendliest quietest h blue healers I've ever met. Great stay
Jun 27, 2019This place is very special and you will never stay anywhere quite so unique. The hosts were so lovely I would recommend this place to anyone
Jun 27, 2019It was fantastic staying in the unique train carriage. Margaret, John and the dog's were delightful company!
Jun 27, 2019A cute little get away, very well presented and lovely location. The train is unquie, with great features. Margaret was very hospitable, and thought of all the little touches. Thank you very much.
Jun 27, 2019Great stay everything perfect and this accomodation offers just that little bit more! Awesome
Jun 27, 2019Margaret and her husband have done an amazing job restoring this over 100yo carriage. It takes you right into another space and time. Thank you Margaret.
Jun 27, 2019I loved the secluded bush setting of the train carriage, and found it a beautiful place to relax and recharge.
Jun 27, 2019Adorable! Exactly what i was looking for! I would love to stay again :) what a treasure! Thank you!
Jun 27, 2019Fantastic place to stay if you are after something a little different. Beautiful bush setting and lovely hosts. Very well recomended
Jun 27, 2019I bought two nights in the train carriage for my dad who is a train enthusiasts. He had an absolute ball spending two nights there. We also had a family bbq at the premises on one of the days, and the hosts were absolutely fantastic. There were 20 of us at the bbq, and there was ample room and Margaret was very accommodating and obliging. Excellent facilities! The communication with Margaret was excellent, she made sure we knew everything we needed to make this a memorable stay. We will definitely think about booking this for other treat train enthusiasts we know.
Jun 27, 2019You don't need to be a train buff to really enjoy the experience of the carriage and surrounds. But it's even better if you are. :) It is easy to get lost in the romance of train travel as it was. A perfect place for a romantic getaway; if only I was young again. Highly recommended and I will be returning as it is a perfect place to relax but still be close to the big smoke.
Jun 27, 2019Very quiet. Nice stay.
Jun 27, 2019Awesome unique place to stay. Warm and comfortable with everything you need. Dogs were gorgeous as well and so friendly.
Jun 27, 2019Staying in this beautiful train carriage is one of the nicest Airbnb experiences I've ever had. Everything was delightful - from the wonderfully preserved vintage interiors, to the thoughtful modern upgrades, to the beautiful bush setting. Best of all was the kindness of the hosts - Margaret not only came to pick me up from the station, but also stocked the train carriage with simple, delicious supplies (sourdough bread, tomatoes, eggs, fresh basil etc) so I could make my own meals in the tiny kitchen. Other highlights include the hammock/day-bed which was perfect for reading in the sun, and the three gorgeous dogs who were endlessly playful and amusing. I would recommend this place to railway enthusiasts, vintage lovers, and anyone who wants to immerse themselves in nature. I hope to stay in this beautiful place again!
Jun 27, 2019Nice quiet retreat and unique accommodation in a train with a few treats as extra.
Jul 27, 2019I loved my short stay at Margaret's Air BnB. I was looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing to do some reading and writing, and a friend had recently raved about her weekend spent staying in this beautiful restored train carriage. It was just what I needed, and Margaret and her family were extremely generous and welcoming to me. It was such an easy trip from Sydney centre and is surrounded by beautiful bushland, creeks and rivers. I would recommend it to any person or couple looking for a relaxing and lovely little getaway. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!
Jun 27, 2019Had the most amazing 3 week stay here . I can't recommend the train enough. If you love peace and tranquility this is the place for you. In the most beautiful setting. John and Margaret are perfect hosts. I felt at home as soon as I arrived from the Uk. The train has everything you need for a very comftable stay with lots of little personnel touches to. Margaret provided me with some lovely things for breakfast upon my arrival . I will always have the fondest of memories of my stay there and was sad to leave easily could have stayed longer .
Jun 27, 2019Great place to stay - relaxing, easy and novel.
Jun 27, 2019Pleasant people and lovely bushland
Jun 27, 2019Great, unique experience. Very welcoming. Excellent instructions made it easy to find. Authentic train, beautifully restored. Made extra special by lots of little extras and the added benefit of a beautiful log fire.
Jun 27, 2019We had an event with 20 people out on the patio during the day and then in then stayed in the train overnight afterwards. Such a great day! So much history and train has been beautifully restored! Such a lovely place!
Jun 27, 2019The train carriage was exactly the place I wanted for a relaxing weekend getaway. The accommodation was amazing in that it was quiet, uniquely designed and surrounded by nature. Margaret was very welcoming and baked us cakes which was delicious. Overall, it was a enjoyable stay and we're planning to go back.
Jun 27, 2019This stunning historical train carriage is a unique place to stay, surrounded by the quiet bush, so close yet so far away from suburbia. Margaret is also an excellent and helpful host.
Jun 27, 2019Great relaxing place to stay. Loved the bush setting, the quirky carriage, the 2 welcoming cattle dog pups and all the little special touches that Margaret provides. Had a great stay and would return anytime.
Jun 27, 2019The rail car was the perfect get-away after four bustling days in Sydney. Margaret and John were lovely hosts -- welcoming and attentive, not a bit intrusive. Wifi was on the blink when we arrived, but my husband (on working holiday) survived the brief disconnect and I enjoyed the added serenity! Highlights of our stay included bush walks, " brekkie with the lot" using the fresh ingredients Margaret provided, and a relaxing day trip to the New South Wales Rail Transport Museum (Thirlmere) and Australian Botanic Garden (Mt Annan). Would love to stay again!
Jun 27, 2019Margaret was very accomodating to our late check in and late check out the next day. There were thoughtful touches to the carriage that we only discovered before we left. On a longer stay, I’m sure there are more surprises to be found. A very memorable stay!
Jun 27, 2019This was a fantastic find , especially if you’re looking for a quiet place, out of the way but near enough to get to other amenities . We thougherly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to come again if the opportunity presented itself.
Jun 27, 2019Great accommodation Nice to have experience something a little different Dogs are super friendly
Jun 27, 2019Unique experience.
Jun 27, 2019Such an unique experience and Margaret even provided us with fresh fruits and toasts and heaps for us to have during our stay. Their dogs are very friendly and smart, welcoming us and even leading us to the way to exit on the first day. I would say overall Margaret made us felt like home away from home, and, in the meantime the help she offered is just right on spot so the privacy is 100% guaranteed as well.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret and John are absolutely sterling hosts! What a unique and restful experience this was! In the midst of a peaceful Australian forest, you will find a private, refurbished railway carriage with so many true to period furnishing for you to enjoy a lovely yesteryear ambiance. Margaret provided fresh fruit, vegetables, breakfast makings and beverages. A very generous food offering. I highly recommend this venue. You will particularly enjoy the experience if you have an appreciation for historical railway memorabilia, and days gone by!
Jun 27, 2019A Quirky place in a lovely location full of charm and personal touches. It just works
Jun 27, 2019We had to find last minute accomodation and what a fantastic surprise, we absolutely loved it. We only stayed at the property minimally as we were in Sydney for work, Margaret very thoughtfully made sure the carriage was heated for us before we arrived home each night. We will definitely be staying in this little gem find on future trips :) It provided a lovely reprieve from what were very exhausting days.
Jun 27, 2019This place is absolutely beautiful! The little touches like fresh strawberries, tomatoes, eggs, bacon and jams really made a difference! Thank you for a lovely stay at this unique Airbnb!
Jun 27, 2019The weekend away was amazing. The accommodation transported us back in time, the whole carriage is fascinating. Outside, the walking tracks and friendly dogs were a highlight. Margaret's tips on bushwalks and local spots added to the perfect weekend getaway.
Jun 27, 2019Thanks Margaret for the amazing time we had over your property , enjoyed the stay even though it was only for a day . It was a surprise for my wife's birthday and she was delighted . Has all the amenities that you need . Peaceful stay and will not forget the fresh strawberries
Jun 27, 2019Such an amazing stay! Margaret is an outstanding host, will lend a hand when you need it, even if it's just turning the heat on in the carriage before you arrive.
Jun 27, 2019We would absolutely recommend this place, would have loved to stay longer and are hoping to be able to come back some day!
Jun 27, 2019Margaret’s train carriage is a hidden gem in a beautiful location. Margaret and John are wonderful hosts and made our stay perfect. We would definitely come back again. Loved it!
Jun 27, 2019A unique experience. Amazing place. Not to be missed.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret and John were such generous and friendly hosts, we had plenty of privacy but they were always on hand for advice. The train carriage is so artfully done up with extra thoughtful touches. We were very comfortable during our stay, and the supplies left for us to cook breakfast were delicious. Such a quiet, beautiful escape to the bush yet conveniently close to the city. Would definitely recommend staying here for a novel experience with lots of character and wonderful hosts!
Jun 27, 2019Great place to stay. Great hosts. Quiet and peaceful and ideal romantic getaway.
Jun 27, 2019This is an Airbnb experience like no other. A train carriage set in a quiet bushland reserve...amazing. All of the historical touches (the old signs and black and white photos) really enrich the experience even if you're not a history nerd. On top of that, Margaret is incredibly hospitable and charming, as are the two dogs. Would highly recommend the train carriage to anyone looking for something relaxing and special.
Jun 27, 2019What a little gem found in such a beautiful setting. We loved the history of the train and that it was beautifully restored. We hope to stay again next time we visit our old home town. Definitely worth a visit !
Jun 27, 2019Awesome and novel experience. Clean and tidy. Train lovers will love it. Couples seeking peace and quiet will love it. Small touches included making the stay wonderful get away. You won’t regret staying here.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret is a great host, and this wonderfully restored train carriage is a unique piece of history and a far more interesting place to stay than your standard run-of-the-mill hotel. The property is located on a pleasant and secluded acreage, were you'll be gently woken by bird calls and the wind in the trees. The train carriage itself is cozy and well-appointed for two guests - with cooking facilities, chairs and benches for lounging, and a private room to retire in. We enjoyed the games that were provided, as well as reading about some of the history of the railroads in the greater Sydney area. We hope to visit again soon!
Jun 27, 2019Margaret and John were lovely and their two dogs friendly and welcoming. The carriage is spotless and beautifully restored! Absolutely loved the tranquility.... great stay and I highly recommend to all Air Bnb travelers!
Jun 27, 2019Most Outstandig Experience
Jun 27, 2019A wonderful place to stay. Very special! We had a fantastic nightly train ride. Margarete is a perfect host and the communiction was always very easy.
Jun 27, 2019Margaret is an amazing host and the carriage was some much more nostalgic than I expected. The touches around the carriage added to the nostalgia. The bush setting ia amazing. The train was spotless and comfortable. Would definately stay here again. Thanks again Margaret and John.
Jun 27, 2019A magic place, a very unique experience. Staying in a museum. Everything just perfect. And Margaret and her husband such lovely people. My best Airbnb experience ever
Jun 27, 2019Margaret & John’s hospitality was wonderful & the two dogs as welcoming committee! The outdoor kitchen, fireplace and the train itself are beautiful and the photos don’t do it justice. I’m hoping to send through some new photos we took of the train to further show what’s on offer. Only a short walk away is a river for swimming and there’s a few paths for short bush walks. Anyone interested in the local history will get a kick out of some of the ‘Easter eggs’ around the train- with commemorative photos. Definitely recommend getting the fire going and cooking outdoors- bring bug spray! Would recommend to anyone- and looking forward to staying again.
Jun 27, 2019Truly unique experience, excellent host, very pleased with the booking
Jun 27, 2019This is the perfect slice of history for those wanting to experience an authentic train carriage. The details of the restoration are perfect. Lovely country atmosphere, and great hosts! We had an amazing stay!
Jun 27, 2019One of a kind experience. The railcar is absolutely stunning, in pristine condition and decorated as it might have been for a cross-country haul in the 1930s. I stayed for a night, enjoyed sleeping in the cozy bedroom area of the car, and dined in the dining area. Even did some writing in the little railcar office. It's a little spooky at night, but in a fun way. You're staying in a piece of history! Margaret and her husband and their dogs are incredibly welcoming and kind and went out of their way to make my stay wonderful. Thanks, Margaret!
