Neighborhood Overview
The apartment is set in a quiet hillside neighborhood of Kailua-Kona. Wailua trail is minutes away offering a path for both walking or running. Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park and Kamakahonu National Historic Landmark, for sea turtle viewing and ocean activities, are a short drive away, as are beaches and art galleries in downtown Kailua-Kona.

Transit
The unit is in a residential area but it's very close to restaurants, activities and beaches. You will however need a car to take full advantage of everything Kona and Hawaii has to offer. We are located approximately 15-20 minutes south of Kona International Airport.

My wife and I stayed here for our 4th wedding anniversary and fell in love with this place. The decor is awesome, the view is amazing, and the bed is super comfortable. Lots of privacy and great to have a working kitchenette. We saved money on our vacation by buying food at Costco and eating in while enjoying the awesome ocean view and sunset! Jun 27, 2019We are a couple of French tourists and we stayed here with our 4 month old baby and we had a very good experience. We even extended our stay. This is a very private studio with everything you need to feel at home. We saved a lot of money by cooking using very nice material (cutlery, dishes, kitchen apparels...) and had dinner in the balcony while enjoying a spectacular ocean view. Thomas was really nice and advised good places to visit. The pictures do really reflect the reality, this place is really nicely furniched with lots of taste.

Jun 27, 2019The apartment is gorgeous....much more expansive than expected and than the pictures show. We only stayed one night, but after seeing the place, would have loved to stay much longer! The mini kitchen seemed well equipped for those that want to do self catering, the view from the deck was beautiful, and the whole setting just felt relaxing. Thomas and his wife were very responsive via email and phone, and were quite accommodating to our somewhat nebulous schedule (due to driving over after flying in from Hilo). Definitely recommended! Would happily stay again.
Jun 27, 2019Had a great stay — well-appointed kitchen, deck with fantastic ocean view, walk-in closet for storing luggage, and reliable wi-fi. Thomas and Simone were great hosts. Perfect location for easy access to Ali'i Drive and the beaches (5-10 minute drive), but in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood away from the tourist traffic. Would definitely stay here again if we came back to Kona!

The area was so quiet that I could even hear what sounded like crickets or frogs in the evenings. I also enjoyed seeing the Geckos and Anoles each morning! We would definitely stay there again. The apartment is absolutely wonderful, I would certainly stay here again on a future visit. The neighborhood that they are in is amazing, and it is only a short drive to the village.

Jun 27, 2019Hale Kea was everything I expected it to be. The photos are dead on. The place is absolutely gorgeous. Thomas provided great instructions upon arrival. We spent most of our days out exploring but we finally did meet Thomas as we were leaving on Monday. My only regret is that we did not have more time to spend there and enjoy the apartment. Clean, fresh bath towels, beach towels provided, everything you may need.
Jun 27, 2019Our stay was just perfect. The appartment is spacious and very clean. The interior is of upscale quality. Everything looks almost new. It's quiet - though you can hear the highway in distance. The view from the lanai is great! You have your own entrance and lanai, so privacy is granted. Thomas and his wife are lovely people. It was very easy to get in contact. All of our questions were answered within minutes and they helped us in any way. So if you are looking for a nice appartment well located in Kona: just book at the Whites! PS: for all germans: Thomas spricht Deutsch.
Jun 27, 2019This ohana was perfect to kick off our Big Island stay. It is located in a great neighborhood overlooking Kona. It is just a few minutes drive to Ali'i drive on the coast where you can find countless restaurants and shops and beaches. If you go further up the mountain, there is an excellent Slow Food restaurant and cafe that is divine! (holuakoa cafe). When you book this, the host sends you a welcome video. You'll hear the chirp of tropical birds in the background and wonder if he added them. NOPE! You'll hear this blissful sound when you sit on the peaceful porch and look out over the Pacific Ocean. The ohana unit is spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. We would not hesitate to book this again on our next trip. Highly recommended!

Jun 27, 2019We ended up staying in this beautiful place and were extremely happy we found it! The place is super clean with all the amenities you can imagine! The pictures are representing the place perfectly! We unfortunately did not get to meet Thomas since he was a way for work but got to meet his lovely wife Simone who was extremely helpful even after we checked out already and ran into done troubles with our flight leaving Hawaii! Would highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone!

Jun 27, 2019This place is beautiful, and was such a treat, we almost didn't want to leave to explore the rest of Kona. Not kidding. Didn't get to meet hosts in person (our schedules were off), but they left us everything we could need and more. The only (minor) downside was that the bed could have been more comfortable. The location is great, convenient to all the places we wanted to visit on that side of the island. It was a retreat in itself.

Jun 27, 2019We stayed there on our Honeymoon, the place is very nicely decorated and pristine, located 10 min from both Kona and Kahaluu beach park (great for snorkeling, plenty of fishes and turtles). The hosts were extremely helpful and very kind, exchanging tips / places to go / visit. If you want to visit Kona, stay there! Highly recommended
Jun 27, 2019I almost don't want to leave a review because the more people who find out about this fantastic establishment, the more who may book it and then when I want to stay at it again, it might not be free!! However, I would be doing a disservice to Thomas and Simone by not adding my positive review to the list of others. I did not meet the hosts while I was there but from start to finish, it was a superb experience. First off, the photos, while beautiful, don't really do the room justice. It is a beautiful space. The hosts have thought of everything for your stay. There are dishes for your use, silverware, ironing board, beach towels, even a noodle to keep you afloat when swimming! There are more amenities to mention but not enough characters allowed in the review. :) Everything was clean and bright. The bathroom was stocked with large, thick towels and there's even a soap/shampoo dispenser on the wall. It is a very spacious, well thought-out room and the view from the lanai just can not be beat. The location is fantastic. It is about a 10 minute car ride to Ali'i Drive and about 20 minutes from the airport. You're close to everything you might need (as far as tourist attractions, restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations) without being smack dab in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and hopefully, the next time I'm on the Big Island, the room will be free because I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!
Jun 27, 2019Right from the day, I requested the possibility of a stay to the day of departure, all interactions with the host were great and commendable! On the day of arrival, we were late. But the host had made all arrangements for easy access. The property was spotless and as described in the photos and notes. Their sense of interior decor is great. All amenities were of absolute help. We had a great stay for 4 nights. We would love to get there again. Easy access to highway and stores. Excellent location for access to sigh-seeing. Highly recommend :)
Jun 27, 2019Our stay at Hale Kea was awesome. The place was bright, airy, and spotlessly clean. During our stay, we loved the comfortable breeze that circulated into the apartment, the sound of the birds in the morning, and the tiny day geckos that would sporadically pop out on the lanai. The White's were also kind enough to leave a towel and some bath toys for our baby which we really appreciated. There was easy access to touristy areas like Aliii drive, as well as smaller stores/restaurants on Mamalahoa Hwy. My husband also liked taking a short drive in the morning to Kona Joe's Coffee where they have a great garden area. All in all we highly recommend Hale Kea.

It is situated in a nice quiet street off the main highway so really easy to get around in a car, either exploring the Big Island beaches and Volcano or heading into Kona town for its lively mix of restaurants. Highly recommended.

Thomas and his wife obviously thought of the little touches that would make someone's stay extra-special, from items in the kitchen to candles and a cooler that you can take to the beach. The decor is beautiful, everything is spotless and neatly organized. everything you will need, you can find it in the studio. we enjoyed the lanai and the amazing view. Jun 27, 2019This apartment was stylish, well organized, squeaky clean, bright and luxurious. Very private and centrally located in a beautiful safe neighborhood safely nestled up on a hill. A true home away from home. We left inspired by the hosts professionalism and organizational skills in home keeping. The bath tub was large, towels plentiful, clean and fluffy, the kitchen well stocked with wine glasses, quality kitchenware and they even provide fresh coffee and a grinder. The bed was clean and cozy and the apartment was fresh and airy (two ceiling fans). They kindly leave pamphlets and informational books and brochures about the island and we were sure to visit several of the choice restaurants advertised in our room (Annie's - delicious organic burgers/fresh cocktails made with organic fresh squeezed juice & creative cuisine and Mi's Italian Bistro for Valentine's day which exceeded our expectations). Their style and care really shines through in this guest house. We will be sure to stay with them again if ever visiting the sunny side of the big island. Fantastic place at a great extremely fair rental price.
Jun 27, 2019We had a wonderful stay at Hale Kea last week. Set in a very nice neighborhood, it was quiet & relaxing. The kitchen is well - appointed and we were able to make many meals there. The unit has everything you would need to feel at home and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting out on the lanai and watching humpback whales breaching in the ocean. There were also many birds to watch in the yard. The location is a good starting point for many daily adventures - sight seeing, beaches & snorkeling opportunities are close by, walking trails, or a short hop gets you into downtown Kona. Thomas & Simone are excellent hosts. We loved staying here.
Jun 27, 2019If you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay, away from the touristy craziness of Kailua-Kona, then this is it. Clean and quiet w a fantastic lanai and view, we really enjoyed this studio apt. Each morning and night we sat on the lanai and watched the whales play. They gave me good recommendations for food, laundry etc. and drew my attention to the fact that my rental car was loosing oil and wouldn't even let me help to remove the oil! I highly recommend this place to everybody who wants to go to Big Island!

It was the best apartment we rented during our 3 weeks trip to Hawaii. Now for the view: extraordinary. Waking up every morning and seeing the sea was so relaxing for us. The view is beautiful, the bed is comfortable the directions were super easy to follow and we had a great time! Jun 27, 2019Thomas and Simone are welcoming hosts and the condo is great, very modern, clean and comfortable. The lanai is lovely and the Sunset neighborhood is so named for the excellent views of the sun dropping into the sea. Their neighborhood is quite posh and has a sort of LA/Malibu type of feel. Less than 10 minute drive to the beach or to the main strip of town. Don't miss Da Poke Shack (we ate there three times) or Kahalu'u beach which is great for beginning snorkelers.

Jun 27, 2019We stayed at this studio for two nights and it was the best accomodation during our trip to Big Island. Thomas and Simone are great hosts, very nice and they do their best to make you feel confortable (I can assure they achieve it!). The studio is really nice, very big, clean, modern and confortable. The views from the lanai are great and there are both a table to dine and two armchairs where you can relax. The place is very near Kona and the best spots for snorkeling and diving. On our next visit to Big Island we´ll do our best to stay here as many days as we can!
Jun 27, 2019The first word that came in my mind when i stepped in the house was "Waaaaaaaw !" The house is so great, tastefully decorated, great bathroom, a very nice vue... I would love to be living here for real !!! Seriously do not hesitate, this place is an awesome place and the location is perfect (close to the airport, captain cook, all the nice beaches, volcanos...) Thomas was a perfect host, carefull but not instrusive. He even apologized for the noisy neighboors one early morning (who were not that noisy and it was not that early) ! Jun 27, 2019We loved the Hale Kea! It was hands down the best airbnb place we stayed at while we were in Hawaii (both the big island and Oahu)! It was so spacious, in a great, quite neighborhood, and just felt like home. Thomas was very welcoming (via airbnb notifications) but also gave us some distance, which was great since we were on our honeymoon! I'd totally recommend this place to anyone, it was so comfortable, clean , private, and welcoming.
Jun 27, 2019We loved the apartment. It is tastefully decorated..looks just like the photos..and it is very comfortable. There is a lanai with comfy chairs and a table so that we could sit outside to eat, read, relax and appreciate the great view! It's also quiet and very private. Thomas's home is in a very nice neighborhood yet close to everything (short drive by car), It is also a great neighborhood for walking. Thomas sent us a video to show us how to access the apartment, where to park, etc. that was very helpful! Our only regret is that we didn't get to meet Thomas and his family in person! I highly recommend staying with them.
Jun 27, 2019We loved Hale Kea The decor is an inspiration. The location convenient. The view from the lani is breathtaking. And the bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept on. There are so many intuative and thoughtful little touches here and there - it is as though as I desired something it appeard. Having read the other reviews before arriving at Hale Kea we had high expectations - and we were not dissapointed! If the resorts are not your thing but a little bit of luxury is what you are after do not hesitate to book this place. 2 days was not enough. Thank you Thomas

Unfortunately, we did not get to meet our hosts personally as they were themselves on vacation, but everything was very well organized (thanks, Thomas, for all the helpful instructions prior to our visit - that was excellent). We also loved the lizards on the lanai... they are so cool and so much fun to watch!

Jun 27, 2019The apartment was exactly as depicted in the images and it was a lovely place to stay in Kona. It has a completely separate entrance and the location was high enough in elevation that it was cooler, but an easy drive down to the Kona coast. Unfortunately, Thomas and his family were on vacation so I didn't get to meet them in person, but they provide a great video orientation once you book your listing and are happy to provide any information or resources you may need during your stay.

Coffee, a very comfy bed, towels, shampoo and a beautiful Lanai where you van eat breakfast/chill In the evening! Location is perfect to everything, but you need a rental car! We had some problems with the Wi-fi, but Thomas solve that problem immediatly (Even though he was on vacation) Will recommend this place to everyone, and would definetly stay here again if we come back to Kona! We give this place our highest recommendation, and we'll definitely stay here again if we return to the Big Island (hopefully soon!).
Jun 27, 2019This place was comfortable, beautiful, clean, and quiet. It was close to Kona beaches (about 10-15mins drive) but it allowed you to enjoy some quietness and nice coast view. We enjoyed our stay there and Thomas was very welcoming and helpful. The checkin instruction was very clear. He also provided a list of recommended restaurants and beaches to go and it was helpful.
Jun 27, 2019Hale Kea was absolutely beautiful, and was the perfect place for us to stay on our honeymoon. The pictures don't do it justice! The location was great, close enough to wherever we wanted to go, but far enough away to enjoy the quiet. During the time we were in Kona there was a hurricane threat. Thomas and Simone were so helpful in helping us prepare for any unfortunate weather, and made sure we had everything we needed.

Jun 27, 2019My best Airbnb experience by far! Thomas was the perfect host and his place is exactly as pictured on Airbnb. I'm a bit of a germ-a-phobe, even when staying in nice hotels, but Hale Kale was truly immaculate. The hosts really took great care to think of anything a guest would need while staying on the Big Island. The kitchen was stocked with coffee, tea, a blender, a toaster oven, a microwave, an electric kettle, a small vacuum and a small fridge. The closet provided us with plenty of room to hang our belongings and store our luggage in an organized fashion. The murphy bed was very comfortable, we slept like babies throughout our entire stay there. Next to the bed was a small desk containing very helpful guidebooks and a list of recommendations from the host himself. The bathroom was fully stocked with anything you might need, including plenty of towels, shampoo and conditioner, sunblock and disposable razors. What really stood out was the lanai with an incredible view of the ocean. It was such a treat to wake up to every morning. It was especially helpful that beach chairs, a beach umbrella, a boogie board and water noodles were there for us to use, saving us money and making our beach time even more relaxing and worry-free (if that's even possible in Hawaii.) There is no A/C but the ceiling fans, a small table fan and the breeze from outside kept us cool. We had the opportunity to meet our hosts briefly. They were very welcoming and friendly and were very quick to respond to any email communication. Staying here was like a dream. =)

Jun 27, 2019We loved our stay in Hale Kea and definitely recommend Thomas' apartment if you are visiting Kailua-Kona. The apartment is fantastic and very well finished and is definitely a relaxing place to stay. Whilst in the area we definitely recommend snorkelling at Two Step (half hour drive) and doing a dive/snorkelling tour to see the Manta Rays. Both are excellent and Hale Kea makes a great base to use for our stay
Jun 27, 2019We loved Thomas and Simone's place and location so much we didn't want to leave. Our gracious hosts provided everything you would need for a visit to Hawaii--a boogie board, swimming noodles, beach chairs, an umbrella, plush towels, coffee...I even needed an emery board for a snagged finger nail and found one in the bathroom! We loved having breakfast and reading on the lanai with an expansive view of the ocean--an even better view than what can be seen in the pics. We had stayed in a town near Volcano for three nights prior to our arrival in Hale Kea, and couldn't have picked a more perfect location for exploring the west and north parts of the Big Island. It was very close to Kealakekua Bay for snorkeling, the touristy Alii Dr, and one of our faves--the Kona Brewing Company. From Hale Kea, the drives to South Kona, Waimea, the Kohala coast, and Hawi were easy and also beautiful. Although we didn't get a chance to meet Thomas, we chatted with Simone, who was kind and lovely. We would definitely love to stay here again.

Perfectly clean and has everything you need during a stay on the Big Island - beach equipment etc. Simone and Thomas were great and really nice hosts, provided helpful tips and even let us check out late (thanks a lot!) before our flight back. There are beautiful views of the ocean from the balcony and it is super quiet. The room kept cool with fans, no air conditioner needed. We would definitely stay again!

The information and guide books were very helpful, and it was great using the provided beach towels and umbrella. Overall, it was an excellent stay!

Modern, clean, quiet, private plus a fantastic sunset view off the back deck. Perfect for two people. Conveniently located for exploring the island. I hope to be able to come back on my next trip to the Big Island.

Beautiful view over Kona and the Pacific Ocean in a nice neighborhood with quiet street. Our hosts were very accommodating to our needs during our stay, giving input on restaurants and tours to take. ... and it was fun watching the geckos chase their pray in the evenings.

The home is even more beautiful in person, very comfortable, spacious, clean, and contains everything you need for a stay on the Big Island. It is very conveniently located and close to places where you can snorkel, paddle board, etc. We enjoyed every minute of our stay here. Jun 27, 2019My husband and I recently spent nine lovely days at Thomas and Simone's beautiful Hale Kea. The spacious and tastefully decorated suite was beyond our expectations for the price. We loved it and would definitely go back. We have since recommended it to a number of friends and family back home. Having a kitchen with everything we needed to prepare some of our meals saved us money and it was lovely to sit out on the large lanai with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. We enjoyed the adorable geckos trying to catch their dinner while we ate ours. Hale Kea is located on a hill above Kona in a beautiful neighbourhood of high quality homes. The view from the lanai is fabulous and the serenade of the many local birds was lovely. Unfortunately we did not meet Thomas but our contact with Simone was enjoyable and helpful. On the last day she let us keep the chairs and beach towels until dinner time so we could enjoy another day at the beach before our very late night flight home. All in all a fabulous holiday! Jul 27, 2019Ein absoluter Traum!!! Die Wohnung ist liebevoll und edel eingerichtet, es ist alles vorhanden, wie z. B. Shampoo, Toilettenpapier, Sonnencreme, vollständig eingerichtete Küche, Strandartikel, Reiseführer und vieles mehr. Die Wohnung ist gross und sehr sauber. Thomas und seine Familie sind sehr nett und nehmen einen freundlich auf. Wir haben uns hier wirklich sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig und von der eigenen Terrasse hat man einen tollen Blick auf das Meer und abends kann man den Sonnenuntergang genießen. Diese Wohnung hat keine fünf sondern mindestens sieben Sterne verdient. Einfach ein Traum.
Jun 27, 2019Everything was perfect with our check-in. The detailed instructions and video was all that we needed. We did not meet our host until leaving after the 3rd night, but we knew from their welcoming letter that they were close at hand if anything was needed. Their residence was beautifully decorated and clean. The view down to the ocean from the deck was stellar. It was the perfect location for us to explore the Kona area and head north for a day.

Jun 27, 2019Hale Kea was an absolutely beautiful place for our stay in February, 2015. Thoughtfully-designed and outfitted; immaculately clean; and with excellent privacy. The kitchenette is well-equipped to enable basic cooking for two; and although on-site laundry is not available, Simone provided soap and instructions to a great local laundromat (we took advantage of their drop-and-go laundry services, which was nice). The neighborhood was quiet, set up on the hills over Kailua-Kona and giving us wonderful views of the water from the lanai. The location served us well as our starting and ending place for diverse excursions around the island (we stayed here for the entirety of our trip, excepting one overnight near the Volcanoes National Park). Our interactions with our hosts always left us feeling welcome and cared for. Because of their unobtrusive hospitality, the beautiful spaces, and the location, we would return in a heartbeat.

Jun 27, 2019Our host was not in the area when we came but gave us all the information we would need to get into our apartment and left suggestions for things to do and places to go for meals, snorkeling and drives. Also, before we arrived we communicated with him by email and he called us during the week when we had a further question. The apartment has everything you could need and the lanai with the view of the ocean made it hard to leave everyday. We appreciated extra touchs such as coffee, tea and sugar left for us. They had snorkel gear/ reef shoes/ pool noodles/ boogie boards there to use (if you would like to) and they also had a really helpful Kona guidebook on the table, which we used to visit places we never originally planned to go to in our itinerary! Jun 27, 2019We loved staying at Thomas' apartment. It was a great location, close to everything on Ali'i drive but not in the bustle. We loved watching the whales while drinking our morning coffee. They also had beach gear for our use which we took advantage of, chairs, snorkeling masks, an umbrella, & water shoes. Beautiful home, we would definitely stay here again.

Jun 27, 2019WOW, just wow! I've stayed at nearly 20 airbnb locations and have enjoyed all of my hosts, but I believe Thomas and his place top them all. The place is amazing! I actually think the pictures don't even do it justice, the place is that nice. Thomas has hosting down to a science and I think he has thought of absolutely everything. Being able to borrow all of the stuff for the beach was so handy. I was really glad we were able to meet Thomas and his family before we left. He's just as nice of a person as he is a host. Such a cool guy, I could have talked to him for hours. If we're ever fortunate enough to go back to the Big Island, we won't even look for other places, we'll just book Thomas' place!

Jun 27, 2019My husband and I stayed at Thomas' little cozy house for two nights and we loved it! This was our first airbnb experience and it was awesome! The house/apartment itself is quite big, has a fridge, a sandwich grill, a little seating nook with a tv, a super comfy bed and a huge bathroom. Everything was very clean and at night it was very quiet and relaxing. Thomas even provided us with snorkeling gear, beach towels, a beach umbrella and a beach mat. The apartment is located conveniently and you can reach the downtown area within 5-10 minutes, and beaches are close as well (tip: go to the makalawena beach, that one is a bit further away-about 30 minutes, but totally worth it! For dinner: the kona brewery was also delicious!) I forgot one of my shirts at the place and Thomas was so kind to text me and let me know about it, so I was able to pick it up later. Great host, great airbnb - highly recommended! We hope we can be back soon (especially because that would mean another hawaii vacation;)) Thank you for everything Thomas

It was great to have a beach umbrella and goggles to use while staying there. Everything inside the home was exactly as pictured, very clean. The place was located in a very nice, quiet, safe and convenient neighborhood. We enjoyed the water view and privacy. The apartment seemed to be designed, decorated and equipped with lots of thoughts and care. All you need to do is just to show up and enjoy your vacation. The guide books and print outs were very helpful. We especially enjoyed amazing view on our last day at Daylight Mind Coffee Company which I found from Thomas' print out. Jun 27, 2019Thomas's apartment was in a nice neighbourhood, very easy to get in and out of by car. It's close to the Kona beaches (5-15 min), close to the airport (~25 min) and close to the Captain Cook coffee plantations. The apartment itself is clean and comfortable with a kitchenette & fridge that made it easy to cook at home rather than eating out all the time. It was perfect for me as a single person & would work well for a couple. It would probably be a bit tight for a family with grown children - the apt is open plan. Thomas supplied beach equipment like snorkels and a boogie board.

My wife frequently uses Air B&B and Hale Kale was a gem. Expect a luxury getaway with all the comforts of home. As other guest have commented we truly appreciated the high quality beach items and the well appointed kitchen.

Jun 27, 2019We have enjoyed staying at Hale Kea. The apartment located in a nice and quiet residential neighbourhood is beautiful, clean and well equipped, and has a spacious bathroom. We enjoyed having breakfast on the lanai and watching the little green geckoes. The views from the lanai are stunning. Snorkel gear and other beach gear were provided and good guide books and other travel recommendations were available. Hale Kea is ideal for a stay on the west coast of the Big Island and Thomas is a great host. We highly recommend this place. Anne-Marie Aug. 2015

My rental car broke down in their driveway and even though Thomas was overseas, he was responsive and super great helping me out. His wife waited out with me while the car was towed and made sure I was all set. Really appreciated that they were accessible during a stressful time. The apartment is beautiful and a great place to stay.

The bathroom is not a cubbyhole with a sink but as nicely done as the room. Also everything you need if you feel like cooking ( the oven is small, do not buy a big frozen pizza) . The house is very cool even during the summer. Breakfast at the Lanai with ocean view was breath taking. Jun 27, 2019Thomas and Simone’s apartment is really the perfect place to enjoy holidays. The interior is really tasteful furnished. Tips and information for activities on the island can be found in the apartment. The location of the apartment is excellent to start several activities. Thomas we unfortunately could not meet personally but Simone was very helpful and it was great to meet and talk to her. We also appreciated a lot the fruits we got from her garden. Thank you very much. I definitely would recommend this place to enjoy sunsets on the terrace and simple to have a great time on the island.

Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist ruhig, die Lage ist einmalig, Blick von der Veranda auf den Pazifik, besonders die Sonnenuntergänge haben es uns angetan. Wir hätten gern noch ein paar mehr Handtücher im Bad gehabt. Aber das ist auch schon alles, was wir anzumerken haben. Alles gut!
Jun 27, 2019We felt welcomed, partly by the introductory video--totally high tech! The studio was larger, even more visually appealing and comfortable than I had anticipated from the photos. My husband was stunned by how gorgeous this studio is upon arrival when one first sees it. We were impressed by Simone’s responsiveness when I had inquired about the disposal of fruit scraps (to avoid fruit flies) while there. Even though the studio is attached to the main house, the sense of privacy is remarkable. We really enjoyed spending time on the back lanai with an ocean view, whether watching the sun set or having a tropically-inspired breakfast… The bathroom has been recently remodeled and is exquisite! The rental's location is high and therefore cooler than downtown Kona. It’s well located near the highway, the Captain Cook area, coffee country as well as Kona. There's snorkel gear to use while there as well. Mahalo Thomas and Simone!

A lot of care and thought has gone into designing this space and providing for every possible need, including beach items, aloe vera, etc. Instructions for parking, getting into the unit, etc. were perfect - everything was easy. We felt very welcome and had a lovely time. Beyond that, Thomas' recommendation for a breakfast spot (Daylight Mind Cafe) was spot on. 10/10 - would stay with Thomas and Simone again in a heartbeat.

Lanai is facing the ocean. so romantic place. Thomas is tolerant when we asked to borrow the snorkel gear after checking out. Highly recommended in Kona.
Jun 27, 2019One word..PERFECT. Good location, clean, quiet, and stunning view. Thomas supplied the suite with things we didn't think we needed until we came across them. He sent us a short you tube video prior to our arrival instructing us where to park, recycle, and with the entrance code. Impressive. During our time in Kona, dengue fever was present. Thomas left us bug repellent as well as an info sheet educating us on everything we needed to know about it. His attention to detail could be rated at a 5 star level. There is no question we would stay with Thomas again. Book now before someone else does.

I loved the suggestion packet of places to visit that Thomas had on the front table. I loved how clean the apartment was and that everything you need was available from dishes to beach towels and more.
Jun 27, 2019Our experience at Hale Kea was fantastic from start to finish. The reservation, communication and check-in were all straight forward. There was even a video sent to me explaining where to park, how to get in, etc.! The place was clean, new, and well appointed. Everything was perfect from the nice sheets, comfortable bed and pillows, plates, cups, to the basket of children's books, toys and towels for our children. Everything we needed was there. We loved staying there and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Jun 27, 2019Our 14 day stay was relaxing in this little ohana off the main house ,the space very clean and comfortable and well outfitted and just a shown in the photos. Lovely breezes on the lanai , which overlooks kailua bay. You must have a car and be prepared to drive for groceries, restaurants and shopping, but the upside is a very quiet and relaxing area .There is a lovely designated walking trail just down the hill for those morning walks/ jogs. The hosts are warm and welcoming but also respect your space. We would recommend this with pleasure.

He even checked up on me from the mainland to make sure all was well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 5 STAR SHOWER BTW :)

The property itself was clean, well-maintained, and full of nice touches like extra sunscreen (needed) and even aloe vera gel for the inevitable sunburn (much needed and appreciated!). Jun 27, 2019The entry and balcony were separate from the main living quarters, which we liked for privacy reasons. The space was lovely, really nice bathroom/shower, there were 3 or 4 fans to keep air circulating besides the ceiling fan, the kitchen was nice, and the view was amazing. We found that it was pretty close to other little city hot spots and enjoyed our stay. Also, it was very clean, wifi was quick, and Netflix was provided:)

The extra amenities, the ocean views on the balcony, a ton of guide books, birds chirping and geickos (Website hidden by Airbnb) provided a wonderful Ohana experience. The studio is the perfect place to stay, very spaciuos, super clean, a nice well equipped kitchen, an awesome bathroom and stunning ocean views from the beautiful lanai. The are tons of things provided in the studio that make the stay even better (beach equipment such as chairs, umbrella, boogie board etc, guide books, maps, fan, iron...), simply everything you need is there. The location is very good as well, only a short car ride away from town or the nearby beaches. Simone and Thomas are great hosts, super friendly plus they were always there for questions and were very flexible regarding our needs. A big Mahalo for that! I can highly recommend the studio to anyone staying on the Kona side of the Big Island. Best airbnb experience so far!!!!

This was the first time my husband and I used Airbnb, and Thomas and Simone set the bar for the future. We had a clean and relaxing home to come back to after a long day at the beach. Would love to return if the White's will have us. Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet them because they were out of town. We miss this place already!

It was also refreshing to have a quiet place to stay in a residential neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Kona. While we didn't get a chance to meet Thomas and his family, the guest material that he provided was very helpful and gave us great suggestions on what to do in the area. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend this guesthouse to anybody else planning on visiting the Big Island!

Unfortunately we couldn't meet him because he was on holidays too. On our last night we had troubles with the wifi but Thomas fixt it righ away even being on vacation himself!!
Jun 27, 2019We stayed at Thomas's beautiful home for our honeymoon in Kona. It was a perfect fit for us and absolutely met all of our needs. The apartment itself is a great size for couples, with a cozy nook to relax with DVDs or books, a comfortable lanai for morning coffee, and an amazing bathroom with a spa-like shower. Like most rental spaces in Kona, there is no air conditioning, but there were fans, etc, and with the windows open, a lovely breeze that made for a nice stay. Thomas was expertly communicative - he provided videos and emails beforehand that detailed arrival logistics, and he also provided a folder with hand-selected local recommendations for food and activities, including running and swimming routes, which my Ironman husband greatly appreciated :) We truly felt like we were being welcomed into someone's home. Location is excellent; just a few miles from the busy Ali'i Drive where many shops and restaurants are, and only a few blocks away from a darling family-run coffee estate that offered lovely private tours (Kona Blue Sky Coffee). Communication was swift, clear, and friendly, and even though he and his family were on the mainland during our stay, we felt that we could have reached out with any issues. We would whole-heartedly recommend Thomas's apartment, and we were very sad indeed when we had to leave! Until next time! Maholo!

Thomas and Simone are definitely super hosts who have an immaculately maintained home and who think of everything to accommodate their guests to the most minute details. The arrival instructional video, the guidebook which lists restaurants, beaches, and even the nearest urgent care center (which thankfully we didn't need!), Netflix, sunscreen, insect repellent, beach towels and gear and even nail polish remover were all thoughtfully provided. Hawaii is such a beautiful place and staying at the Whites' home with its phenomenal grounds and view added to that beauty and the Aloha spirit. If you plan to visit Kona Hale Kea is the perfect place to be. Five stars!!! Mahalo!

Simone spricht fließend deutsch, was für uns eine angenehme Begrüßung war. Das Apartment ist gut ausgestattet und geräumig, der Balkon lädt zum Frühstücken draußen ein. I love that he sent us a little video of where to park, where the stairs are, and a quick tour of the apartment! I'm a visual learner, so this was extremely helpful in getting us settled in. No problem, the gears are ready. The home is well designed and super clean. Bathroom/shower is amazing. Also love the TV area, it's so relaxing to watch some Netflix after a busy day of touring. Overall, we loved it and will come back:)

My guy & I thoroughly enjoyed our time with a quiet lanai for breakfast looking at the ocean, the Murphy bed was super cozy, the shower was beyond my wildest dreams (seriously, can I take it home?!), and it was super clean and fully stocked for us to stay. We even forgot a few things in a drawer and they sent a care package to Oahu for us on our next stop. HIGHLY recommend staying in this adorable space.

Jun 27, 2019My husband and I stayed in Thomas' place during our honeymoon on the big island and we both agreed that we couldn't have picked a better place. The studio was spacious, clean, and had a ton of great amenities-- a full kitchen, a beautiful ocean view from the lanai, a really nice shower, and more. There were also lots of small extras that we didn't know we needed until we got there, like a binder full of restaurant recommendations, ponchos (which saved our butts big time), and all the beach gear you could ever need. Thomas puts a lot of time into making sure guests have everything they need for a fun and comfortable stay, and his going above and beyond made our trip that much more memorable. The neighborhood was nice and quiet and close to all the shops, restaurants, and attractions in Kailua-Kona. My husband and I rented a car and drove to multiple spots on the island, but Kailua-Kona was definitely the best area to stay in. By the end of the week it was starting to feel like home. We were so sad to leave! We very highly recommend Thomas' place for anyone vacationing on the island of Hawaii-- it'll be your best AirBnb experience yet.

Jun 27, 2019Everything was as anticipated from the Airbnb listing. Check in was super easy, simply park your car and punch in the door code given to you. The studio was plenty roomy for my wife and I, and even has us questioning the wasted space in our own home. The studio was in a perfect location, a few minutes from every convenience you could need in Kona. The best beaches and snorkeling spots are ~30 minutes away. We enjoyed our stay and are already planning our return to the Big Island.

Jun 27, 2019We stayed for 4 nights in this nice little flat and enjoyed it very much. The apartment was spotless clean, tastefully decorated and good equipped. We didn't meet Thomas in person during our stay. Nevertheless he was easily accessible online in case of problems or questions. Overall we recommend his place.

Jun 27, 2019Everything was so thought out, from the extra beach equipment, to the baby bathroom stuff, and even the welcome guide. We also enjoyed some of the Hawaii books they had. The Lanai and it's view were probably our favorite parts.

Jun 27, 2019Our stay was fantastic! The lanai is gorgeous and my fiancé and I enjoyed our coffee and meals there. We loved watching the nature with a distant-ocean view. After staying at other airbnbs, we have realized how equipped Thomas and Simone's place is with amenities (especially cooking-related). Another big plus was that there were snorkels, fins, a body board, beach chairs, a beach umbrella and towels - this was so helpful! The shower is also very nice and upscale. The entire studio is beautifully furnished and decorated; it is well taken care of. Highly recommend!

Jun 27, 2019Thomas's place was extremely comfortable. All amenities and extras were provided. My fiance and I had a great stay, we wish our stay was longer! The location is close to town but secluded enough that it was relaxing after a long day out. We didn't rent a car but the Big Island has Uber now and it was only a 10 dollar fare going into kona town. We really appreciated all the instructions and recommendations left for us plus the little treats! Thank you Thomas and Simone for a wonderful stay!

Jun 27, 2019This studio is perfect to get away and relax. It's clean, spacious and quiet. The mornings were so peaceful. I loved waking up in the morning and sitting out on the lania while drinking my coffee. It's the perfect way to start your day on Big Island. Even though it's private you're still only 5 minutes away from town so getting around isn't a problem. I hope this place is available the next time I come back to Big Island.
Jun 27, 2019Thomas's place was in the perfect location for our stay in Kona. It was close to restaurants, beaches, and points of interest on the west side of Big Island. The suite was clean, cozy, and just the perfect size and fit for two people. The shower and the patio with the view of the ocean was our favorite part! We will be sure to book again with Thomas on our next trip to Kona.

We found the place so clean and everything was thought of so that our stay was comfortable and taken care off. We made good use of the snorkel equipment provided and had a great time snorkelling at Turtle Beach.

Jun 27, 2019My wife and I really enjoyed staying at Thomas' house on the Big Island. It was quiet, neat and clean and had lots of little extras ( like beach chairs, towels and an umbrella.) We were able to make breakfast everyday in the kitchen and the ceiling fans kept us cool at night. We had a wonderful honeymoon and would recommend his house to anyone planning trip to the Big Island.

We truly like the place more than any other top rated hotels we've been staying so far. The house was sophisticatedly and yet practically decorated with harmonious colors and had everything we need. Jul 27, 2019My husband and I LOVED our stay. It is located in a residential area where it's minutes away from Alii drive. There are a lot of really great places to eat around the area and it is very easy to get around if you have a car rental. As far as the house, we loved it. You can see the ocean from the backyard and there is a nice porch you can hang out on. There is a kitchen, nice bathroom and the bed is comfortable. Thomas did not miss anything, he provides everything for you as if you are staying at a hotel. This was our first time in Hawaii and we really enjoyed it.

Wir waren leider nur zwei Nächte und wären gerne noch länger geblieben - aber unsere Rundreise ging weiter. Wir haben uns rundum wohl und heimisch gefühlt. Die Gastgeber waren auch sehr freundlich und haben uns sehr nett empfangen.

Thomas even notified us when we left a personal item behind and we were able to retrieve prior to departure. Location is very convenient to the sites of Kona.

Jun 27, 2019We spent the week here (Mon-Fri) and it was amazing. The apartment was perfect, filled with every need you could think of. Maps and tour pamphlets on the coffee table, condiments and coffee in the cabinets, extra phone chargers to use in the desk drawer, and a lovely welcome book created by Thomas and Simone giving local recommendations on places to eat to places to go see. Along with the beautiful view, the little fulfillment pieces of the apartment set this Airbnb above the rest. Would definitely recommend this apartment stay.

The view was absolutely stunning and we watched the sunset from the lanai. The property is beautiful, clean, perfectly furnished, with everything you could possibly need for a stay in Kona. Jun 27, 2019This place is very close to downtown. Lanai has a great view facing the waterfront. They also had guidebooks that helped us plan our time here. The host provided us Snorkeling goggles and tubes. This place is close to Kahuluu which is super great for Snorkeling. Mauna Kea beach and Honaunau is also very close by and it's very good for Snorkeling. All the amenities are super new and modern (really cool shower). Their guidebooks also had suggestions for breakfast. We found that helpful as well. Try out Daylightmind Cafe. We are definitely stay here when we come back!

Jun 27, 2019We enjoyed our stay at Thomas’s place very much. It’s very clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom is spacious and the shower is super! We brought our 18m little girl with us. So we did use the kitchen a bit for cooking pasta. We also used the beach umbrella. It is great. Will come back for sure next time if we come visit Kona again in the future.

Jun 27, 2019We loved the gorgeous sunsets overlooking the water from our private lanai. Check in was super easy and smooth. Great communication from Thomas - he sent us an email with our key code months in advance. He also sent us a video explaining where to park and how to get into the apartment, which was very helpful and made check in easy. As other reviewers have noted, the shower is great. It was perfect after getting home cold and wet from the Manta Ray dive! Thomas also provided all of the amenities including shampoo, conditioner, soap, sunscreen, and beach towels. The location is close enough to everything, but far enough off the main strip in Kona, which gets crowded and noisy. Highly recommend!

Jun 27, 2019This is THE place to stay in Kona. You will not find a more comfortable and inviting space for your vacation. The view from the lanai is fantastic for morning coffee or sunset dinners. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need to cook a good meal and the attention to detail was fabulous. We will come back again when we can and definitely recommend this place to our friends.

Ahead of time he sends out a video with all the important information about the unit and how to get in, where to park, etc. Very helpful, since we are both very visual. Such a great idea. And the unit is outstanding on so many levels. We loved sitting on the lanai and enjoying the wonderful view down to the ocean in the mornings and the evenings for the sunset. While being centrally located (10 min away from all the main restaurants and shops) and close to the main street, the unit was very quiet and private. We also loved the spacious shower and the well equipped kitchen. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this space.

Jun 27, 2019Awesome place in a great location. Everything was spotless and the bed was super comfy. Super fast communication and easy check in. Lots of advice for local spots and things to do. Amazing view of the ocean. Would highly recommend :) there is a trampoline that we wanted to jump on but were unsure if it was allowed :) lol you won’t regret staying here. They allowed early check in and late check out as they could which was much appreciated. And chocolate caramel Mac nuts was a nice touch :)

Jun 27, 2019Wir hatten 2 schöne Nächte bei Thomas und Susanne. Alles tiptop. Die Wohnung ist wirklich toll und es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Die Wohnung ist mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Toller Echtholzboden im Wohnbereich ;-) Und die Dusche ist der Hammer. Riesig! Auch die Lage ist super. Nicht weit von Geschäften und schönen Stränden entfernt. Und davon hat Kona ja einige zu bieten. TipTop. Immer wieder gern.

Jun 27, 2019Thomas place was a great place for my wife and I to end our honeymoon. Despite the haze from the vog, the view was still great look at from the balcony. The place has everything you’d need for a short or long stay. We especially enjoyed the futuristic looking shower. They have lots of books and guides to help you get around Kona as well as snorkeling and boogie boards. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend d the place.
Jun 27, 2019This is a lovely place. The Decour is very tasteful and well designed. The balcony overlooks the coast and is a pleasure to sit at when having morning coffee. The hostess that greeted us was very supportive and accommodating and a pleasure to meet. The accommodations were the best part of our entire hallway visit. I would not trade it for any other experience.

Jun 27, 2019We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Thomas’ lovely place. Thomas always responded promptly and courteously to our communication. The check-in and checkout processes went very smoothly, due in part to Thomas’ thoughtful planning and organization. Dining and chilling on the lanai after a day of snorkeling, while gazing across the ocean down below, added a lot to our experience. Fresh coffee beans and a coffee grinder were a bonus. We hope to have the pleasure of staying here again.

Jun 27, 2019Thomas house is well equipped. You lack nothing! There is a thought behind every detail from kitchen utensils to beach gear. The lanai, with a great view of the Pacific, is the place for breakfasts and a cold beer after snorkelling. The neighbourhood is very quiet, the only thing you hear is the wind and (Hidden by Airbnb) ing birds. The fans in the ceiling keep the right temperature. The bathroom is big and modern. If you want to leave your car behind and go to Kona for a night out the Uber taxi is 12 USD one-way. Thomas’ house is relaxing, practical and comfortable. Don’t miss it if you plan to go to the Big Island. It’s a great basecamp for activities on the west coast. We do recommend Thomas’ house. Peter and Kerstin Sweden
Jun 27, 2019A wonderful place to set anchor while in Kona. My boyfriend and I were only in town for few days, and this place was one of the few that could accommodate our dates. And it was perfect. We would spend the day diving (only ten minutes away), have dinner at a nearby restaurant (on the way home, also very close), and were relieved to go back to a place all to ourselves. We appreciated the lengths our host took to make the stay convenient and enjoyable. The space has everything a couple of adventurers could need - bowls and utensils for instant ramen, towels to help wash off the ocean spray, and bandaids for bumps on the boat.

Jun 27, 2019Wir haben 3 Tage in Kailua-Kona verbracht und hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt in dem Appartement. Alles war so wie beschrieben, die Ausstattung ist super (zum Kochen war alles vorhanden, Stranduntensilien und sogar Sonnencreme war vorhanden) und der Balkon ist wirklich sehr schön mit einem tollen Ausblick auf das Meer. In 5 Minuten ist man mit dem Auto an einem größeren Supermarkt und an einem sehr schönen Strand. Auch für Ausflüge ist die Lage der Wohnung gut geeignet. Sehr zu empfehlen!

The ample information (magazines, brochures, menus, maps, etc.) that Thomas provided was very beneficial! The unit was very neat, clean, and exactly as pictured. It has a beautiful ocean view yet was just far enough away from town to escape the crowds. It was easy to check in and out using the keypad lock. Perfect for a couple or a single. Jun 27, 2019My husband and I enjoyed staying at Hale Kea during our trip to Kona. The studio is just minutes away from many points of interest, and we found it very convenient! We appreciated the amenities (and more) provided (i.e. rain shower, TV, refrigerator, beach towels, sunscreen, aloe vera, etc.), and felt very comfortable there. We also loved the beach/sunset views! Thomas is very quick to respond to any questions or concerns you might have. We will definitely stay at Hale Kea the next time we visit the Big Island. Thank you, Thomas and Simone!
Jun 27, 201910/10 for this place! Highly recommend this private gem to anyone visiting on the Kona side of the Big island. Perfect location- near everything. Biggest thing was waking up to that gorgeous view off the balcony/deck. The place was sparkling clean as well. Would love to stay here again if we ever come back to visit!

Jun 27, 2019Die Wohnung ist ein Traum. Es ist wirklich alles vorhanden was man benötigt vom Sonnenschirm, schnorchelsachen, über Kühlbox und sogar Sonnencreme. Es fehlt an nichts. Die Wohnung ist mit viel liebe zum Detail eingerichtet aber das Highlight ist der Balkon mit dem Blick aufs Meer. Wir vermissen es schon jetzt dort zu frühstücken. Wir haben Simone kenngelernt, sie ist super lieb und hat uns super Tipps für Ausflüge oder Lokalitäten gegeben. Wir kommen sicher wieder. Viele Grüße Alice & Daniel
Jun 27, 2019Great location and size. Everything looked new and was clean. Shower was amazing! We borrowed some snorkeling gear and beach towels from Thomas and really enjoyed our time. Gets a little warm at night but they have plenty of fans to keep cool.

It is in a nice area with great ocean view from the lanai and offers everything you could possibly look for (e.g. snorkeling equipment). The rooms are very well and cosily equipped and nicely decorated. Everything was very clean. The contact to Simone and Thomas was uncomplicated, everything was well prepared. Jun 27, 2019For a sunset view and a location convenient to the Kailua-Kona area, this studio is great. Checking in was easy and there was a book with detailed information about the area right beside the door. We even found a "The Big Island- Revealed" guidebook on the desk, perfect for exploring the island with. The kitchen was perfect for our short stay, and was stocked with the necessities. On check in it was a bit toasty. The mid-afternoon heat can be tough, but we made use of the fans provided and were more comfortable. If you're used to climate control and brisk air conditioned escapes from the heat, you won't find it here. When the windows are open and the breeze is going, it can be nice though. Overall, a pleasant place to spend part of our honeymoon and rest between adventures.
Jun 27, 2019das appartment ist sehr schön gelegen, mit blick vom balkon auf den pazifik. so zu frühstücken macht doppelt freude. es war sehr sauber und man findet in der küche wie auch im badzimmer alles was man braucht und noch mehr. auch der check-in funktioniert dank zahlenschloss schnell und einfach. die gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. war definitiv das beste appartment welches wir je gebucht habe.

Jun 27, 2019Tolle Unterkunft mir viel Platz, sehr schöner Einrichtung und außerordentlicher Dusche. Es war alles da (Küche, Shampoo, Bugyboards, Schirm, Stühle....) was man so braucht und der Balkon hat einen grandiosen Ausblick. Die Gastgeberin hat und gleich mit allem versorgt! hier wären wie gerne länger geblieben!

Thomas and Simone were welcoming and sweet. Communication was clear. Responses were quick. The place was neat and had everything we needed. We loved everything about Hale Kea!
Jun 27, 2019We chose to stay here initially because it looked so cozy and we needed a few extra days of lodging before a hotel stay. It turned out to be much more. A great location in a quiet neighborhood, with total privacy in a clean, tastefully appointed apartment, many little extra touches such as beach gear, and a fabulous shower to name but a few. After staying here, our hotel was a great disappointment. Our hosts gave us complete privacy, but were available anytime if needed. We highly recommend Thomas's place and would gladly stay here again.
Jun 27, 2019Schöne Wohnung mit mega Ausblick auf den Ozean. Die Ausstattung ist super und es gab einfach alles was man brauchte. Es fehlt wirklich gar nichts! Thomas und Simone sind sehr nette Gastgeber und die Tipps waren super. Leider waren wir nur 2 Tage dort. Wir vermissen es jetzt schon und wenn wir nochmal nach Big Island fliegen, werden wir hier wieder wohnen. Wir würden sehr gerne nocheinmal kommen. Mahalo das wir bei euch wohnen durften. Jun 27, 2019Gorgeous place with fantastic view and in a great location, about 10 mins south from downtown Kona. The place was spacious and separated from the main house so we felt that we had good privacy. It was clean, had everything we needed, and the bed was very comfy. It had maybe the best shower I've ever seen. I don't think it had a/c but it wasn't needed, since the place stayed relatively cool. Would highly recommend.
Jun 27, 2019Thomas is a wonderful host. Incredibly quick to respond to any and all questions or concerns. The studio is fabulous. Spacious, comfortable, well appointed and well situated near beaches, town and other amenities. The view of the ocean (and those sunsets!) is spectacular from its perch on the hill. Plenty of privacy and many amenities to help you enjoy all sorts of local activities (in addition to snorkeling gear, there's even a yoga mat, a cooler, an extra backpack, and rain ponchos). They've thought of everything!
Jun 27, 2019Very nice space in a great location. Thoughtful touches included ponchos, umbrellas, beach towels, cooler, etc. Sparkling clean, private, and comfortable. The lanai is the perfect place to enjoy coffee with a view. Close proximity to all Kona has to offer. We hope to visit again.
Jun 27, 2019I thoroughly enjoyed staying in the house. It was the first time for me to experience Airbnb, so I was a bit nervous about staying at a private accommodation. However, hospitality that Simone and Thomas showed eased my tense. They were a great host showing kind treatments for the inexperienced traveler. The house was located in a quite and secure area with just a few minutes away from a shopping mall as well as Kailua-kona. The accommodation was nicely furnished and immaculately cleaned with a plenty of towels , toilet papers and other daily necessities. In addition to the beauty of the house, I was also amazed by the view from the lanai. Having Kona coffee on the lanai while watching the blue ocean was unforgettable. I would definitely recommend the place and would love to stay again.

Jul 27, 2019Very easy, prompt communication and an incredibly thoughtfully provisioned space. From the kitchen to the bathroom to all the awesome beach gear (chairs, towels, boogie boards, snorkel equipment)...Thomas and Simone anticipate every need! I’m a geek travel planner/packer, and I didn’t even need the sharp knife or vegetable peeler I’d packed. :) Also want to add shout outs for the comfortable bed/pillows, sunset view from lanai and amazing shower. All around one of our best AirBnB experiences to date!

Jun 27, 2019One of the best AirBnB's I have ever stayed in. The home was very clean, comfortable and had all the amenities one could ask for and then some. The ocean view from the balcony is a nice place to start the day or relax in peace. I highly recommend Thomas and Simone's place to anyone visiting Kona, I will definately stay here again next time I am on the Big Island.
Jun 27, 2019The house was in an excellent location with a stunning view of the ocean. Perfect to sit and sip on a cup of coffee to start the day. Mini fridge was good sized if you want to buy items to use the stove. Very spacious with a comfortable bed, awesome shower, and couch area to watch tv. They have beach chairs, umbrellas, books about the island to browse, cups, silverware, and plates. It was one is the best places I've stayed in and I travel quite a bit; it is right up there with any extravagant hotel. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting that side of the island.
Jun 27, 2019We loved our stay Hale Kea. I've stayed at many Airbnb rentals from Vancouver, BC to Inverness, Scotland to Loreto, BCS. This quickly has become my absolute favorite! The studio is beautiful. Thomas and Simone have thought of everything. I cannot wait to come back again for another stay. Mahalo!
